With a career starting in the early nineties from the warehouse raves of the industrial city of Tampere, Orion is still one of the busiest and most relevant DJs in Finland. On top of over 15 year long work on Finnish National Radio, Orion also runs his own Absence of Facts imprint and regularly releases music on labels like MORD, H-Productions, Mindtrip, Illegal Alien, Suara etc. With a funky, playful approach to techno both behind the decks and in the studio, his productions are widely welcomed by international crowds. No matter if it's about performing live at a sold-out festival or a warehouse party, expanding the possibilities of DJing with the latest technological innovations, hosting an electronic music conference, playing at KitKat in Berlin, Ministry of Sound in London or clubs in USA, Germany, Greenland, Russia, Spain etc, headlining New Year's party for 85000 people, 2000 people pool party or hosting live radio broadcasts from Berlin, after over 25 years in the business it's all still happening and it's all labour of love. Welcome to DRR Podcast 038, A weekly podcast bringing you good techno in its many shapes and sizes. This week we are very proud to welcome KIMONO (Kim Stockblom), from Stockholm, Sweeden. To learn more about KIMONO, please follow him here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/kimonooo KIMONO (Kim Stockblom) has in the last 20 years gathered an interesting history in the form of remixes and productions released on labels like, Kombination Research, Drumcode, International Sound Laboratory, Bek Audio and H-Productions. Since 1995 he has promoted countless classic events in Stockholm - besides generally being a strong force in the Swedish Techno scene. Some of Kim’s main inspiration derives from the early Swedish Techno scene, where fellow artists like Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull and Jesper Dahlback where amongst the fore front. His own sound has been colored by anything from Hip-Hop artists like Onyx and Mobb Deep to James Ruskin, Carl Cox and Eric Prydz. It can best be described by himself. “I always look for that specific drive in a dancefloor track and never really mind any particular genres. But overall i tend to get attracted by drum and percussion based stuff. Dort spielte sie in den damals angesagtesten Club im Vorprogramm zu Bands wie Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind and Fire, Commodores und vielen weiteren. 1993 zog sie nach London, UK und dort began ihre einzigartige Karriere als Techno DJ. Sie wurde Resident DJ in Clubs wie dem Universe Final Frontier, Club UK und Complex in London. Bald verbreitete sich ihr Ruf als DJ über die Insel bis nach Europa wo sie bald auch Resident im legendären OMEN Club in Frankfurt wurde. Ihre Skills mit 3 Plattenspielern zu spielen, machten sie zu einem der innovativsten DJs in der Techno Sparte und so spielte sie bald weltweit, USA, Japan, China, Südamerika und Russland standen bald fast regelmässig in ihrem Tourplan. Im Jahr 2000 wurde sie im deutschen Groove Magazin auf Platz 6 der internationalen DJs gewählt, als einziger weiblicher DJ in den TopTen. Sie gründete bald ihr eigenes Label Equator Records, welches sie 2011 durch ihr neues Label GSR ablöste. Nebenihren DJ Auftritten ist Gayle San auch im Studio sehr aktiv und veröffentlicht auch auf bekannten Labels wie Fine Audio Recordings, BlackNation, Sleaze, H-Productions und vielen mehr. Jazzpod 001 - Nima Khak (Sand, 1:53.2, ISL, H-Productions, Parabel Music) We launch our new podcast series with one of our favourite producers: Nima Khak. Dj and Producer, born in Iran but grew up in Stockholm, Sweden with the rich flora of prolific labels coloring the soundscape of his productions. Today he is a fixed point in Stockholm nightlife with a long standing residency at Gallery 2.35:1 Berns. He also manages the club's in-house label 1:53.2. His productions are raw, analogue and deep techno with the sight set firmly on the dance floor. With releases on labels like H-Productions, ISL and productions together with Jesper Dahlbäck and Cari Lekebusch he has been pinned as one to keep an eye on from the new generation of Swedes.
