Shifting gear again for another bit of a grab bag episode. There are so many different versions of Tetris and many of them have really great soundtracks either to keep you chill or ramp up the tension while you play so I just wanted to highlight some of my own favourites. As I mentioned, no Tetris Effect here since I'm saving that for something more focused but otherwise please enjoy! Also, to my great shame I called the first game Tetris 3DO a few times but it's actually the CD-i, I'm sorry to all aficionados of failed 90s cd based systems for this grave transgression. 00:00:00 Jim Andron - Level 0 00:04:02 Talk 1 00:09:54 Jim Andron - High Scores 00:11:20 Jim Andron - Level 3 00:15:46 Jim Andron - Level 5 00:20:11 Talk 2 00:26:02 Iku Mizutani - Atlantis 00:28:01 Iku Mizutani - Classic Mode (Fast) 00:30:18 Iku Mizutani; Shinya Kurahashi; Hikaru Tamura - Knossos 00:31:28 Iku Mizutani; Shinya Kurahashi; Hikaru Tamura - Knossos 2 00:32:46 Iku Mizutani; Shinya Kurahashi; Hikaru Tamura - Angkor Wat 1 00:34:21 Talk 3 00:45:10 Tetris X - Technotris 00:47:10 Tetris X - Troika 00:49:15 Tetris X - Battle 00:51:23 Tetris X - tetrisx_07 00:53:48 Tomoyuki Hamada - Pompous Opponent 00:55:16 Tomoyuki Hamada - The Last Battle 00:58:03 Talk 4 01:05:19 Neil Voss - Pyramid 01:07:35 Neil Voss - Haluci 01:10:19 Neil Voss - Giali 01:14:03 Neil Voss - Celtic 01:17:03 Neil Voss - Kalinka 01:20:08 Talk 5 01:28:05 Shinji Hosoe, Ayako Saso - Mode Select 01:29:16 Shinji Hosoe, Ayako Saso - Level 700-899 01:31:55 Shinji Hosoe - Hardening Drops (Instant Death Mix) - Over Level 500 01:34:19 Talk 6 01:46:42 Doctor Spin - Tetris (12' Mix) Podcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/crtpodsystem Reese's Twitter: https://twitter.com/yourverygoodbud Tom's Mastodon: https://jorts.horse/@forpush Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/crtsoundsystem Podcast Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/crtsoundsystem Email: crtpodsystem [@] gmail CRT Artwork by https://www.instagram.com/juicezombie.art/

This song is called Theme of Tara! Can you believe that? I've known this song for years, but didn't know the title. The book is about Tara of Helium and this unrelated song is called Theme of Tara. Powerful coincidence. It was written by Iku Mizutani.

If you had to pick four legendary composers that best represents you…as well as all of video game music, who would you pick? Well, that's the question that our pal Bedroth from VGMVGM (Very Good Music Video Game Music) Podcast asked the community of VGM podcasters…and we broke the rules and picked a bonus one, because we're rule breakers. Yeah, that's right. Your boys from XVGM Radio are here to break down all the barriers. All jokes aside though, Mike and Justin pick their heaviest of hitters in their VGM opinions. From discussions on the impressive echo of Iku Mizutani's NES bangers, to the sentimental tears Justin shed over Final Fantasy 9's ending, XVGM Radio takes you through some of their favorite composers and the tracks they feel best represent them. Get ready to climb VGM mountain and see the masters of video game music!

Fresh off his victory against Kungfu Carlito, Alex is immediately challenged by none other then the 3x VGM Fight Club Champion, Bedroth!!! Has Bedroth gone Hogan (turned Heel) on us? Nope. It was just such an awesome match between Alex and Carlito he couldn't help but challenge the winner with a title shot on the line. The topic? One suggested by none other then Bedroth himself, Konami vs Capcom. So Rds. 1-2 will have Alex picking Konami tracks and Bedroth picking Capcom. Rds. 3-4 will see them switching the order up. Rd. 5 is a free for all as long as the track comes from a Konami or Capcom game. Alex's tracks are first each round followed by Bedroth's. Hi everybody and, once again, have you all a Happy New Year ! For this very first saturday of 2022 we have mixed a bunch of Retrogaming musics, in order to pay tribute to the Famicom creator (among other inventions) Masayuki Uemura and to the Dragon Quest's iconic opening theme Kôichi Sugiyama, who both passed away last year. So I've dug into my good-old NES cartridges collection to find some tunes and I hope you'll have fun listening to this little playlist. Greetings, gamers, and welcome to episode 2-2! On this episode, we dive into a topic first popularized by the Super Marcato Bros, Karl and Will Bruegeman, on their own VGM podcast: a compositional technique called the Five-Finger Fanfare. Also included in the show is a clip from their 201st episode, which aired on January 31st, 2016.This was an exciting and challenging episode to put together, and the track list is the result of many months of making mental notes each time we'd come across this sound in the wild. It's not exactly something you can type into a search bar! Regardless, everything fits our Number One Rule: Everything is very good music!Special thanks to our Patreon patrons, Alex “The Messenger” Messenger of A VGM Journey, The Last Rican, Skeletroy, and Carlos from the Heroes Three Podcast! If you’d like to support us on Patreon, go to www.patreon.com/vgmvgm. Thanks also to Carlos and to Ben "The Diad" Dishman for our show's artwork, and to Skeletroy for the Very Good Theme Song! We start with light breathing. Then, Tom shares his recent not-so-guilty pleasure, Dean gets mad at Nintendo for inevitably ending up with his money even though he hates what they're doing with the Mario 3D All-Stars collection, and the guys diverge on Shadow of the Ninja. Shadow of the Ninja is a 1990 platformer for the NES by Natsume that is derivative but solid. After some discussion (and a little ranting), they end up with different final impressions of it, but we can both agree that the soundtrack is AWESOME. We don't mention him by name in the podcast, but the game was scored by Iku Mizutani, a former Konami employee who also did the music for the original Metal Gear. In this unique episode, Karl & Will explore and celebrate the incredibly long-running and successful collaboration of legendary composers Kinuyo Yamashita & Iku Mizutani! Enjoy!
"No, there atcually *are* some kickass saxaphones in video game music," Drew said, responding to no one. Yes, this is an unabashed appreciation of saxophones and their digital reproductions as they've been used in video games, all because I wanted to include Edea's theme from Bravely Default in an episode and ended up building other sax-tastic tracks around it. I have tracks from Mario Kart 8, ToeJam & Earl, Street Fighter 3, Undertale and Bayonetta and more. Bonus? I avoided making an "aural sax" pun. You're welcome. For our tenth episode we go for a free play, where we play whatever we like without having a theme. Tom ends up playing a lot of 9-bit songs, and Nat plays a huge variety including an 80s pop balad from a soundtrack and some eclectic remixes. We also have fun answering our first listener mail!Download MP3 Tracklist (full info here):
