Pixelated Audio is back from another VGMCon in Minnesota, this time about space! Joining Gene once again from last year are Pernell from Rhythm and Pixels and Carlos from Heroes Three! We did a similar panel last year; we take a broad theme and make it educational, and then use it as an excuse to cram in all sorts of VGM examples. We had some tech issues and lost some of the recording but we were able to rescue it with a more laid back "part 2" we recorded in the hotel room as a way to fill in gaps and riff for a while. Prepare for launch on this massive double episode clocking in at almost 2 hours! We discuss space, its influence on games and computing, and a wide range of games that have a direct or sometimes tenuous link to space. We've got a ton of music this episode so we hope you enjoy it. Pardon the noise in the background, it was the best we could do with a portable recorder. If you'd like to follow along with our slides that we used during the talk, feel free to click through. Dr. Yamamoto writes: “Recent vaccines, including those for Japanese encephalitis, cervical cancer, and coronavirus, have shown a low but significant risk of serious autoimmune conditions, such as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and Guillain–Barré syndrome, as potential adverse events.” He adds: “Moreover, there has been a rise in cases of shingles, monkeypox, syphilis, severe streptococcal infections, measles, sepsis, and post-operative infections in countries administering multiple vaccine doses… Ironically, mRNA vaccines, initially introduced as a solution for infection control, have instead triggered an increase in infections.”In simple terms, these shots were causing “infections” and triggering “autoimmune conditions.” The definition of an “infection” is “contamination,” to put something foreign into a local body. The definition of a “virus” is “slimy liquid, poison,” which means any substance of the like that can cause harm. Therefore, these shots inject a virus-liquid into a body that then becomes infected. A recent phase one trial of personalized cancer shots at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is based on “training the immune system to recognize unique cancer mutations, called neoantigens, and mount a stronger, targeted response.” But if the body is already reacting as it should to disease and one trains it to attack that process, it will certainly cause the body to attack itself, i.e., autoimmune disease. And if mRNA guides DNA, then gene therapy product might very well cause cancer by altering the body's regulation of gene activation and cellular reproduction. Dr. Yamamoto is right and his call for concern is simply logical and concerning. Japan also has one of the lowest vaccine trust indexes in the world when factoring in accessibility, and although most of the population reportedly took CoV-shots in particular, there is a high possibility that people just as easily reported to have taken them in order to maintain peace just as it is probably they actually took them for the same reasons, especially considering the overall hesitancy of the country. However, Japan has very low rates, or no increase, in blood clots. After all Japan banned MMR in the 1990s, pulled Moderna vaccines due to contamination, and revised their vaccine laws in the same decade to make vaccination a civic duty rather than a legal obligation. Perhaps this is why Japan got a special Japanese shot in 2024 called replicon, the first self-replicating CoV-shot. Don't trust those other ones, try the Japanese one they were told.-FREE ARCHIVE (w. ads)SUBSCRIPTION ARCHIVEX / TWITTER FACEBOOKMAIN WEBSITECashApp: $rdgable EMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/tst-radio--5328407/support.

There are a few points in the game where what you need to do next is unintentionally opaque. I own the paper guide so I limited myself to that. But if you get stuck, just look it up. The game is amazing and 100% worth playing. OctoRock_1982 — 04/07/2024 6:05 PM As an adult with normal adult responsibilities, there are plenty of retro games that will give you a much more enjoyable experience using a guide when you don't have endless childhood summers and afternoons filled with nothing but free time to explore every single pixel of a game. Solo — 04/07/2024 6:41 PM After coming off Metroid and many Summer afternoons firing your way thru an underground maze; do you feel Super Metroid in comparison was an easier game to finish since you had a working foundation now? You'd think after everything, we'd be free of games by now. But no- games returned, despite everything. Jen takes point with Metroid Prime Remastered, which finally got her to spend more time with the certified all-timer. Then Six explains their befuddlement at the strange tone and choices of Like a Dragon Ishin!, where historical fiction meets... weird ideas of treating people. Finally, Kyrie's wrist has been steadily improving, and she's been celebrating by playing a classic with Six- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. In chronological order, our music is 8bit23 by Koichi Morita, the File Select Theme from Metroid Prime by Kenji Yamamoto and Kouichi Kyuma, Collisions of Our Souls from Like a Dragon Ishin! by Chihiro Aoki and Hidenori Shoji, the Character Select Theme from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 by Hideyuki Fukasawa, a track whose name I couldn't find from Reigns Three Kingdoms by Roc Chen, and then a reprise of 8bit23 by Koichi Morita. You can find us on Twitter at @jbu3 for Jen, @KyrieAPage for Kyrie, and @sixdettmar for Six.

Prata (gamla) spel!

Today's Broadcast is C1E68 for Theme Thursday, October 27th, 2022. Today's theme is a collection of spooky, dissonant, jarring music for the occasion of Halloween, on a program we're calling "They're Coming to Get You, Barbara" - a "Lost Level", originally intended for C1E37: Halloween 2018, then bumped to C1E48: Halloween 2019, before being bumped indefinitely, and lost to the sands of time....UNTIL NOW! Featuring a music block produced all the way back in July of 2018, making today's broadcast "THE KING OF LOST LEVELS"! And even though the "production quality" of a music block this old is far inferior to our current fresh productions, the "design philosophy" behind this block remains to this day the most sophisticated thing I've ever done. I'll let the intro tell the story! Track# - Track - Game - System - Composer - Timestamp 01) Intro - 00:00:00 02) Freak you Out - Vay - Sega CD - Shigeki Sako - 00:04:59 03) Kadaver's Base - Skeleton Krew - Genesis - Nathan McCree - 00:06:56 04) Title - Mystix: World of Horror - Atari 8-bit - Falk Büttner - 00:09:36 05) Elm Street - Nightmare on Elm Street - NES - David Wise - 00:11:09 06) Inside Deep Darkness - Lagrange Point - Famicom (VRC7) - Akio Dobashi, Noriyuki Takahashi, Katsuhiro Suzuki, and/or Atsushi Fujio - 00:13:55 07) Twilight - LoZ: Twilight Princess - GameCube / Wii - Toru Minegishi and/or Asuka Ohta - 00:16:11 08) Section F Suspense - Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - multi - Mick Gordon - 00:19:32 09) Dark Sanctuary Fortress - Metroid Prime 2 - Game Cube - Kenji Yamamoto - 00:21:41 10) Earth Elemental - Chakan: The Forever Man - Genesis - Mark Miller and/or Jason Scher - 00:23:49 11) Options - Bram Stoker's Dracula - Genesis - Matt Furniss - 00:27:01 12) Gravity Unusual - Strider - Genesis - Junko Tamiya - 00:28:07 13) Triangle - Thumper - PS4 / SWITCH - Brian Gibson - 00:28:54 14) Metroid Prime Battle - Metroid Prime - GameCube - Kenji Yamamoto and/or Kouichi Kyuma - 00:32:40 15) Gore Nest - DOOM (2016) - multi - Mick Gordon - 00:36:25 16) Boss 3 - Legendary Axe - TG16 - Atsumi Chikuma and/or Toshiaki Takimoto - 00:40:14 17) Ghost Valley - Super Mario Kart - SNES - Soyo Oka - 00:41:38 18) Mojo's Future Crush - X-Men - Genesis - Fletcher Beasley - 00:42:53 19) Bloodpuppets Battle - Splatterhouse 2 - Genesis - Eiko Kaneda - 00:45:53 20) Battle - LaPlace no Ma - PC Engine - Unknown - 00:47:46 21) Endless Pursuer - Snatcher - Sega CD -Konami Kukeiha Club - 00:49:20 22) Crisis - Final Fantasy X - PS2 - Masahashi Hamauzu, Junya Nakano and/or Nobuo Uematsu - 00:51:12 23) Shadow Beast - LoZ: Twilight Princess - GameCube / Wii - Toru Minegishi and/or Asuka Ohta - 00:54:58 24) Beelzebub - Ghouls and Ghosts - Genesis - Tamayo Kawamoto - 00:56:06 25) Naja - Cosmic Carnage - 32X - Hikoshi Hashimoto - 00:57:29 26) Inside a Leviathan Seed - Metroid Prime 3 - Kenji Yamamoto, Minako Hamano, and/or Masaru Tajiima - 00:59:33 27) Agahnim - LoZ: LttP - SNES - Koji Kondo - 01:03:15 28) Spook Mansion - Tiny Toon Adventures - SNES - Kazuhiko Uehara, and/or Yukie Morimoto - 01:04:17 29) Undead - Conker's Bad Fur Day - N64 - Robin Beanland - 01:05:51 30) Maze Music 3 - Kether - CD-I - Santiago J. Original version composed by Tōru Minegishi, Asuka Hayazaki, and/or Kōji Kondō. The howling wind effect was complement of YouTuber "AndreeaRR ". Our outro music is Funky Radio, from Jet Grind Radio, on the Sega Dreamcast, composed by B.B. Rights. Intro / Outro / Final Production produced using Ardour 6 / Audacity 3 in Ubuntu Studio [Linux] 22.04 09/05/2022. Music Block produced in GarageBand in macOS 07/23/2018. IMPORTANT NOTE: The tools and techniques I used back in 2018 in producing the music block were NOT up to my current standards – including featuring less sophisticated fades, more imprecise volume level balancing, less developed track run-order sorting, and even my having used MP3s rather than WAVs in the source production, resulting in a lower-fidelity final product, and further limiting my ability to touch it up after the fact. As such, the production value of this episode will NOT be to par with our current "fresh episodes". But production values aside, the quality of the CONTENT itself, otherwise, I feel, is excellent, and well worth digging up to share with you.....I hope that you'll agree! :-) You can also find all of our audio episodes on Archive.org as well as the occasional additional release only available there, such as remixes of previous releases and other content. Who can build the best hypothetical mini console, Matthew, representing GameCube, or Samuel, representing the original Xbox? As both consoles have turned 20 years old, in this episode we'll revisit the libraries of each in a competitive format. Wondering who won this one? It was Matthew, with around 60% of the vote. This week's music is from the Super Mario Sunshine soundtrack by Koji Kondo and Shinobu Tanaka, the Metroid Prime soundtrack by Kenji Yamamoto and Kouichi Kyuma, The Simpsons: Hit and Run soundtrack by Marc Baril, Jeff Tymoschuk and Allan Levy, and the Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne soundtrack by Kärtsy Hatakka and Kimmo Kajasto.
In our episode 50 special, Matthew and Samuel talk through the entire process of making a games magazine from start to finish, including 15 things that can go wrong. Plus: our thoughts on the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, early GOTY chatter and much more. This week's music is from the Apex Legends soundtrack by Stephen Barton, the Metroid Dread soundtrack by Kenji Yamamoto and the Returnal soundtrack by The Haxan Cloak.

From a classic series that helped spawn an entire genre, it's Super Metroid's Brinstar Red Zone! Composed by Kenji Yamamoto and Minako Hamano, this brief but memorable track is David's focus this week. His opinion of the track may surprise you, but then again, it may not!

In this episode, our host Marty Coldwater gives us a look into the music of a popular game series, and two hit movies! We first get to hear a symphonic spin on the classic themes of the Metroid videogames. Then we get to hear two very popular Disney songs from the films Coco and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Playlist: Super Metroid: A Symphonic Poem by Kenji Yamamoto; orchestrated by conductor Andrew Skeet and Ben Foskett; performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra What's This? sung and composed by Danny Elfman for the soundtrack of the Disney movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Un Poco Loco by Anthony Gonzalez and Gael García Bernal for the soundtrack of the Disney movie “Coco.”
David Wise Is considered one of the greatest video game composers of all time primarily for his score on the Donkey Kong Country games, he is also one of the sampled video game composers as artists such as Drake & Childish Gambino have sampled his music in songs.SOCIAL MEDIAWebsite - www.davidwise.co.uk Twitter - @David_Wise TIMESTAMPS00:00 - Intro00:33 - NDA’s01:12 - Work Post Donkey Kong01:58 - David Didn’t Realise How Big His Donkey Kong Soundtrack Was Until The Internet Blew Up02:29 - OC-Remix02:47 - Donkey Kong Country 2/Pushing The Tech For SNES03:52 - Jamming Sam Miller/Compressed Sounds06:06 - Delay Had To Be Simulated06:52 - Chucking Grant Kirkhope In The Deep End With HEX07:48 - Haunted Hall09:43 - Being Isolated/Covid10:14 - David Would Hum Tunes Before Recording In HEX11:05 - Krooks March/Castle Theme12:15 - Problem Solving12:45 - Tropical Freeze Is What DKC Would Sound Like Without Limitations13:29 - Live Instrumentation On Tropical Freeze14:04 - Collaboration With Retro14:45 - Kenji Yamamoto’s Involvement In Tropical Freeze15:56 - Translators With Kenji Yamamoto17:08 - David Praises Kenji’s Music On Metroid17:47 - Time David Would Spend At Retro18:28 - Writers Block19:20 - Visual Cues To Composing Well Working On Donkey Kong20:55 - Time It Would Take To Compose On One Track21:33 - High Tide Ride22:36 - David Was Largely Left To Do What He Wants23:23 - Felt Nice To Do Tropical Freeze As Donkey Kong Put Him On The Map24:14 - Doing Different Genres25:34 - David Would Like To Work On Film/Advantages Of Scoring For Film26:50 - Film Scoring Process Vs Game Scoring Process27:40 - Escaping The Stigma28:05 - David Would Like To Score For Smash Bros29:00 - David’s Time In Japan/Nintendo Are Secretive29:46 - Rare & Retro Culture Difference30:40 - So Many Rappers Sampling His Music In Hip-Hop32:05 - David Is Working On Multiple Projects Right Now32:50 - Covid Has Caused Him Delays35:40 - David’s Process To Compose 38:30 - What Instruments David Uses To Compose39:06 - Collaborating With The Former Rare Composes40:25 - David Tries To Outdo His Previous Compositions41:45 - Working Under Pressure/Mixing43:39 - A Lot Of Different Instruments Used In Tropical Freeze/Quantising45:26 - Stickerbrush Symphony Credits Music In Tropical Freeze46:33 - Nintendo Told David When To Remix Previous DKC Tracks For Tropical Freeze46:55 - Aquatic Ambience48:17 - How Remixes In Tropical Freeze Ended Up There49:58 - No 2 Days Are The Same When Composing50:39 - Aquatic Ambience Took 5 Weeks To Write52:38 - David Will Never Go Back To HEX53:20 - Saving Time When Composing55:17 - Where To Follow David Wise

On June 20th, 2020, an era came to an end. After 200 episodes, the Power Pros podcast closed its doors…at least for the time being. However, on their next-to-last episode, the Pros did something I'd been bugging host “The Hoff” Chris Hoffman to do for months: an episode dedicated to 10 of each of their favorite video game soundtracks. I was so impressed with the Pros' picks and the heartfelt way they discussed each game that I just had to build our second bonus episode around those very same games. And you, gamers, are in for a treat. Along with Pete and Hoff, I recommend that everyone check out these full soundtracks. It's easier than ever these days to listen to game soundtracks, so get out there and enjoy some Very Good Music! Kenji Yamamoto. This is an episode with rules.
With the new 4K restoration of their 1991 drama Thousand Pieces of Gold finally available on disc and digital, filmmakers Nancy Kelly and Kenji Yamamoto have some free time to discuss the simplicity and intensity of L’Enfant, the 2005 drama from Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne starring Jeremie Renier as a young father trying to correct a terrible … Continue reading Nancy Kelly and Kenji Yamamoto on L’Enfant →
TwoOhSix.com presents the first ever TwoOhSix Podcast Series, Diversity in Film: Conversations from Within the Industry. This is a special bonus episode featuring the film makers behind the creation of Thousand Pieces of Gold, a groundbreaking film from 1991 that has recently been restored and re-released. On hand for the conversation are director Nancy Kelly, editor and producer Kenji Yamamoto, and the star of the movie, Rosalind Chao. Please visit the Kino Lorber Virtual Screening Room to see how you can watch the newly restored movie and also check out the TwoOhSix.com review. Diversity in Film: Conversations from Within the Industry is hosted by TwoOhSix.com founder Marc Morin and features conversations with actors, directors, producers, film critics and more all discussing their thoughts on diversity in an industry that has been in need of some new perspectives and fresh voices. The podcast series launches on Monday, May 11th and will continue weekly with new episodes released every Monday.
Since we've been stuck inside for so long, I've longed for the open plains of the Western. Luckily, Kino Lorber's got our back; this year marks the twentieth anniversary of Nancy Kelly's sumptuous film Thousand Pieces of Gold, which they're celebrating with a remarkable 4K restoration, courtesy of IndieCollect, which you can find on their virtual screening service Kino Marquee. Critically acclaimed at the time but eventually lost to the annals of history, there's no better time to revisit it. Based on the novel of the same name by Ruthanne Lum McCunn, Kelly's Western tells the story of Lalu, played by Rosalind Chao long before she'd make waves with films like The Joy Luck Club and her extended stint on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. She's a young Chinese woman in the 19th-century who finds herself sold to a Chinese man who runs a brothel in a small Idaho mining town. Far from accepting her fate as a prostitute, though, Lalu finds ways to assert agency and free will in a world that is especially hostile to women, Chinese women especially. It's wild to watch this in 2020, in a world more openly aware of the misdeeds perpetrated against women, and especially women of color, and see the ways Kelly's sensitive lens handles the deep, theatrical nuances of Lalu's story. It's an especially wonderful early star turn for Chao, demonstrating remarkable strength and vulnerability as a woman forced to make something of herself. I've been a fan of Chao for years, and when it came time to cover Kino Lorber's restoration of this film, I leapt at the chance to talk to her. Now, for those who don't know, I co-host a Twitch livestream series for Consequence of Sound called COVID-EODROME, which you can find on COS's Twitch channel. A week or two back, my colleague Scout Tafoya and I were lucky enough to talk to the cast and crew of Thousand Pieces of Gold -- in addition to Chao, we spoke to her co-star Chris Cooper, director Nancy Kelly and editor/producer partner Kenji Yamamoto. But on top of that, I got the chance to speak to the lovely Rosalind Chao one-on-one for this show. Together we discuss her work on this film, the immense struggles she had as a young actress early in her career, and the ways her work has blossomed since then. And yes, we spare a little time to talk about Star Trek, too. Take a listen. (More of a Comment, Really… is a proud member of the Chicago Podcast Coop. Chris & Kelsey go back to the well to revive Stephen King adaptions in the form of sequels! The Classic Film: Pet Sematary II (1992) "A teenage boy and his father move to his recently-deceased mother's hometown, where they encounter the ancient Native American cemetery with the power to raise the dead” (IMDb.com). This bonkers sequel is fairly lovable in its weirdness, even if the ending goes a little off the rails. The Modern Film: It Chapter Two (2019) "Twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back” (IMDb.com). Having enjoyed Chapter One in episode 15 of the podcast (or “liked okay” in Kelsey’s case), we were surprised to find that Chapter Two was massively hobbled in what appears to be an attempt to end the story and include every popular ingredient from the first chapter at the same time. Simply put: it does not work. Plus! Our spoiler-free thoughts on King and Hill's In the Tall Grass!

Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 episodes, and not in any of the other channels, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. The Video Game Grooves show is back again, to surprise and delight your ears, your turntable, and perhaps by extension, your thumbs! We're here to discuss some of our favorite games, their music, and the vinyl records they have inspired. Anthony and Jeremy are on tap today to hit those high notes for your listening pleasure and consideration. Today's special guests are Marshall Art (Jeff Roberts, Mikhail Ivanov) and Cory Johnson, who have recently collaborated on a new 4-track EP called Timeline. We interview the guys about their origins, gaming and musical backgrounds, and ruminate on such games as Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda, and Undertale which are represented on their record at The Yetee. Our second feature of the show is The Metroid Trilogy, an unofficial release by Moonshake. We discuss the release itself and its tricky nature, as well as featuring a couple of great and iconic Metroid tracks by Kenji Yamamoto. We talk with our guests about their feelings on the music of Metroid, and even share a fun story or two about the origin of one of Yamamoto's tracks. Our final segment covers recent news and releases in video game music on vinyl, along with a price tip or two. Enjoy, and share us with your friends! Bonus episode! Tune in as Mike provides a complete history of the "Dragon Ball Z" episode 120 insert song "Battle Point Unlimited" by Kenji Yamamoto (a.k.a. "Monolith"). What made it sound so distinct from the rest of the score, and how is the obvious case of plagiarism here admittedly so different and even innovative from what came later?

We celebrate the 20th anniversary of Donkey Kong Country by listening to tracks from throughout the DKC series. Tom and Nat are joined by Jon Funk, the resident statistician/mad scientist of the Rainwave forums, who picks some excellent tracks. Tom and Nat admit some potentially unpopular opinions about DKC's music, yet we all ended up enjoying the music that was played!Note: Jon's mic was unfortunately muffled, making his voice sometimes hard to hear.Download MP3 Tracklist (full info here):
