In 1974, 14-year-old Margaret Ellen Fox left her family home in Burlington, New Jersey, full of hope and anticipation. She was on her way to what she believed would be a promising babysitting job — a chance to earn a little money and take one more step toward independence, but Margaret never came home. Fourteen-year-old Margaret Ellen Fox was last seen boarding a bus on June 24, 1974, in Burlington, NJ. She has blue eyes and brown hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was 5'2” and weighed approximately 105 lbs. Two of her top right teeth were missing, and she wore eyeglasses. She was last seen wearing jeans with a yellow patch on the knee, a blue blouse, a white and black checkered jacket, and brown sandals with a heel strap. She was also wearing a gold necklace with flowers and a blue stone, and a gold charm bracelet with a blue stone. Margaret was carrying an eyeglass case with a Huckleberry Hound design on it. MONSTER PARTY GETS... WAY OUT! WAY OUT! SHAWN SHERIDAN, JAMES GONIS, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, pack their audio pic-a-nic baskets, for a journey through animation history! Join us for a wacky race into the exciting world of... HANNA-BARBERA! WILLIAM HANNA and JOSEPH BARBERA were the innovative team behind many of the world's favorite cartoons. Over their long career, they were responsible for such memorable characters as TOM & JERRY, THE FLINTSTONES, YOGI BEAR, THE JETSONS, SCOOBY DOO, HUCKLEBERRY HOUND, TOP CAT, SECRET SQUIRREL, HONG KONG PHOOEY, THE WACKY RACES, ATOM ANT, SNAGGLEPUSS, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS, WAIT TILL YOUR FATHER GETS HOME, and HUNDREDS more!  HANNA-BARBERA also blazed a trail when it came to producing adventure cartoons. This was the team that brought us JONNY QUEST, SPACE GHOST, THE HERCULOIDS, THE FANTASTIC FOUR, SUPER FRIENDS, SHAZZAN, VALLEY OF THE DINOSAURS, and many other fantastical Saturday morning staples.  Not satisfied with the status quo, HANNA and BARBERA ventured out into the world of feature films, giving us THE MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE, HEY THERE, IT'S YOGI BEAR!, and the beloved animated classic, CHARLOTTE'S WEB. If that's not enough for you folks, they even tackled live-action with THE BANANA SPLITS ADVENTURE HOUR, DANGER ISLAND, MYSTERY ISLAND, and the under-appreciated live-action/animation hybrid, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN!  Of course, we don't have the space to list all of HANNA-BARBERA'S achievements. That's what the episode is for. But, speaking of that! There was only one guest we could have booked for this epic topic. He's a friend of the show, appearing (along with fellow MP friend, CONSTANTINE NASR) on our CHRISTMAS SPECIALS  episode, and has an awe-inspiring resume. He's a two-time Grammy-nominated and Addy-winning freelance writer, editor, and producer with 30 years of magic with The Walt Disney Company and over 40 years of professional writing and production experience! He's the author of MOUSE TRACKS: THE STORY OF WALT DISNEY RECORDS, and the recent (and dare we say, timely) book... HANNA-BARBERA: THE RECORDED HISTORY- FROM MODERN STONE AGE TO MEDDLING KIDS. And be sure to check out his podcast, THE FUNTASTIC WORLD OF HANNA & BARBERA. Please welcome back the also funtastic... GREG EHRBAR! NOW, GET TO LISTENING... OR MEET YOUR YABBA DABBA DOOOOM!

Su personajes incluyen: Tom and Jerry, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, The Flinstones, Top Cat, The Jetsons, Johnny Quest, Wacky Races, Scooby Doo y The Smurfs. Tonight on GeekNights, we consider the cartoons of Hanna-Barbera Productions, which were a staple of our 80s childhoods despite being largely from the 60s and 70s. From The Roman Holidays to Fantastic Max, they were a recycled staple of our youth. (Some, like The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound, are best forgotten entirely). In the news, Belle might be extremely good, Mamoru Hosoda has some thoughts on Miyazaki (and also worked on Utena credited as Katsuyo Hashimoto), and the official Popeye twitter account is fantastic. Also Scott didn't know there was a live action Popeye movie staring Robin Williams and Shelly Duvall.

JEFF BERGMAN, voice of Bugs Bunny in upcoming SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY and Yogi Bear in new HBO Max series JELLYSTONE!, premiering July 29thABOUT JELLYSTONE!, DEBUTING ON HBO MAX JULY 29thHey, Hey, Hey! Yogi Bear, Cindy Bear, Huckleberry Hound and a Universe of Hanna-Barbara Characters Welcome You to Jellystone! Yogi, Boo Boo and Cindy, alongside an epic ensemble cast of Hanna-Barbera characters, are returning to television screens in the all-new animated comedy, Jellystone! The Max Original series helmed by acclaimed showrunner and executive producer C.H. Greenblatt and produced by Warner Bros. Animation, presents a reimagined take on these beloved characters, modernizing them for today's family audience and introducing them to a new generation of fans. Season one premieres Thursday, July 29 on HBO Max.Set in the charming town of the same name, Jellystone! follows an ensemble of Hanna-Barbera characters as they live, work, play, and (as is often the case), destroy the town in some silly way together. Huckleberry Hound proudly serves as the town's mayor; Cindy, Boo Boo and Yogi are the town's medical staff; Jabberjaw works at Magilla's clothing store where they supply all the bow ties and hats to the town's citizens; and every character has a specific role in the community. Their paths cross in fun and ridiculous ways, turning everyday activities into hilarious pandemonium."I grew up watching tons of Hanna-Barbera cartoons and have a deep love for these characters," said Greenblatt. "The massive amount of both classic and not-so-classic characters we were able to use from the Hanna-Barbera library is what really makes the Jellystone! universe special. Rather than recreate the feeling of cartoons of the past, we wanted to have silly, weird fun with these characters and expand their personalities to give them more depth. Chances are if there's a character you love, you'll see them somewhere in this world eventually. We hope longtime fans appreciate our take on this world, and we're excited that parents get to introduce and enjoy their favorite Hanna-Barbera characters with their kids."Greenblatt serves as showrunner and executive producer, and voices several characters including Doggie Daddy, Boo Boo, Peter Potamus, and Benny. Joining him in this talented voice cast includes: Jeff Bergman, the voice of Yogi, Mr. Jinks, Wally Gator, and Lippy the Lion; Jim Conroy, the voice of Huckleberry Hound, Captain Caveman, and Pa Rugg, and more; Georgie Kidder, the voice of Auggie Doggie, Brain, and Floral Rugg; Grace Helbig, the voice of Cindy Bear, Yappy, Taffy, and Granny Sweet; Niccole Thurman, the voice of Jabberjaw, Squiddly Diddly, and Dee Dee Sykes; Thomas Lennon, the voice of Top Cat; Ron Funches, the voice of Shag Rugg; Bernardo de Paula, the voice of El Kabong and Mildew Wolf; Dana Snyder, the voice of Snagglepuss, Touché Turtle, and Lambsy; Katie Grober, the voice of Yakky Doodle; Paul F. This podcast covers New Girl Season 1, Episode 18, Fancyman Part 2, which originally aired on March 27, 2012 and was written by Berkley Johnson and Kim Rosenstock and directed by Matt Shakman. Here’s a quick recap of the episode:In this episode, Jess recaps her awkward first date with Russell and after discussing it with the guys and Cece, asks Russell out for a second date. It also goes awkwardly, but they are able to talk it out by the end of the episode. Meanwhile the “smartest guy [Nick] knows”, Dirk, is visiting and they end up having a large house party at the loft with “undergrads”. Winston and Shelby realize they don’t want to have space between them and Winston finally learns that Schmidt and Cece have been hooking up. We discuss Pop Culture References such as:Wicked - While Winston drives to meet Shelby in Mexico, he sings along to the songs “Defying Gravity” and “Popular” from the musical Wicked. Saved by The Bell - Nick mentions in the episode that the college kids that he’s hanging out with don’t even know the classic show Saved by the Bell.Additional Pop Culture References such as:Bathroom (Bear) ReferencesWhen Jess walks into the bathroom and sees Dirk peeing with a t-shirt and no pants on, she and the guys make quite a few references to the below characters who also wear some clothes but no pants:Tony the Tiger - Tony is the mascot for Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes cereal since 1952. His character originated as the winner of a mascot contest and has been voiced by many people over the years.Winnie the Pooh - Winnie the Pooh is a teddy bear created by A.A. Milne in 1926. He was based off of Milne’s son’s teddy bear and Milne’s son was the inspiration for Christopher Robin.Paddington - Paddington Bear is a fictional character who first appeared in 1958. It inspired a stuffed animal and many TV and film adaptations.Honey (the) Smacks Frog - This is a reference to Dig’em Frog, the US mascot for Kellogg’s Honey Smacks breakfast cereal, who appeared from 1972 to the early 1980s but came back as the mascot in the 1990s.Donald the Duck - Donald is a Disney cartoon character created in 1934 and is known for his temper and has appeared in various films, tv shows, and games.Yogi Bear - Yogi debuted in 1958 as a Hanna-Barbera supporting character but eventually became even more popular than the character he supported (Huckleberry Hound). He was often known for speaking in rhymes and having a number of catchphrases.Chipmunks (Alvin, Simon, Theodore) - These chipmunks (who were originally known as “David Seville and the Chipmunks”) were created in 1958 consisting of Alvin (the troublemaker), Simon (the intellectual), and Theodore (the shy one). Their high-pitched voices brought the term “chipmunk-voiced” into American everyday language.Other References“We Didn’t Start the Fire” - Schmidt tells Cece that he couldn’t have sex with her because he needed to get everyone’s name into the song “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. This song, by Billy Joel, lists out names of cultural figures and repeats with a chorus of ‘we didn’t start the fire.’ Kermit the Frog - Cece is asking Jess how her date went with Russell and asked if Jess did her Kermit the Frog impression. Kermit the Frog is a character from the Muppets and Sesame Street. Kermit has also appeared in other television series, feature films, specials, and public service announcements since 1955.Bullfighting in Pamplona - Jess tells Cece that Russell is so sophisticated that he runs with bulls and not the “tourist-y bulls in Pamplona”. Spanish-style bullfighting is a physical contest with humans attempting to publicly subdue, immobilize, or kill a bull. The Beatles - Jess is trying to make small talk with Russell and mentions how good the Beatles are. The Beatles were an English rock band whose members comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and the band is regarded as the most influential band of all time. The Social Network - When Jess gets home after her date with Russell, she asks why the cast of The Social Network was in their apartment. The Social Network is a fictionalized movie of the founding of Facebook and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg. Dylan Thomas / Bob Dylan - ‘From Dylan to Dylan’ is the conclusion Dirk draws in his college lecture. Dylan Thomas is a Welsh poet and writer whose most famous work is "Do not go gentle into that good night”. Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter and is widely regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. This week in our “Schmidtism” we cover Winston asking to borrow the “Manbulance”. For “Not in 2020” we discuss Jess’s problematic behavior at the party and Schmidt’s continued fetishization of Cece’s skin color. We also give a brief look into Martin Starr, the Guest Star we feature in this episode. This episode got an 8.5/10 Rating from Kritika whose favorite character was Winston and Kelly rated this episode an 8.5/10 and her favorite character was Nick! Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 19!Music: "Hotshot” by scottholmesmusic.comFollow us on Twitter, Instagram or email us at whosthatgirlpod@gmail.com!Website: https://smallscreenchatter.com/

Long time listeners know that GamerDude loves TV, and grew up watching a lot of different shows, including cartoons.  He talks about the "packages" of classic cartoons from the '40s and '50s the local channels put together when he was a kid, almost always featuring Bugs Bunny. He also talks about the kid-centric cartoons that began to develop in the '60s and "70s, including Quick Draw McGraw and Baba Looie, Huckleberry Hound, and Mr. Peabody. He also talks about how Scooby Doo and the gang premiered on Saturday mornings, and how other kid-centered cartoons also developed, like Speed Buggy and The Wacky Racers, with Snidely Whiplash, his dog Muttley, and Penelope Pitstop. Even with all of those choices, GamerDude nevertheless gravitated towards Bugs Bunny. GamerDude talks about how Bugs always seemed to be more than "just a cartoon character." Because of his style, his personality, and his story, it always seemed that Bugs actually existed (at least to GamerDude) and that the cartoons we watched were just snippets of his life. GamerDude also talks about why Bugs was so appealing - he is smart, funny, and uses style, grace and intellect to get out of the tough situations he finds himself in. Perhaps most importantly, Bugs was never the aggressor, and was never the bully, but he would stand up for himself, and for the little guy, and finally prevail because he was smarter than the "bad guy," whether it was Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, or even Daffy Duck.  Basically, classic Bugs was - and is - the "guy" that you would want to be (at least to young GamerDude).

[to be read in the voice of Nick Wiger] William Hanna and Joseph Barbera met when they were both working at MGM studios in 1930. This was a time when Disney was still building their monopoly on family entertainment, and they were the kings of animation. In 1957, they joined forces to create H-B Enterprises (eventually renamed to Hanna-Barbera Productions), in the hopes of challenging the vast empire that Disney's animated films had created. Jumping off the popularity of the characters Tom & Jerry, originally developed under MGM, they developed a larger cast of characters, including Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear. While Disney and various animated shorts throughout the years had been produced for film, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera saw the future in a new medium that was growing in popularity: television. Up to this point cartoons hadn't been produced specifically for TV, but in 1960, with the creation of The Flintstones, they had figured out the right formula to make cartoons appealing to a primetime audience. By spending slightly less on the animation, but making up for it with dynamite vocal performances (such as hiring the legendary Mel Blanc AKA Bugs Bunny) and all in the sitcom family setting, they could make a cartoon that a lot of people wanted to see. The immense popularity of The Flintstones lead to countless more Hanna-Barbera classics that we know and love, including the futuristic counterpart to The Flinstones called The Jetsons. The Jetsons was far less popular, only getting 24 episodes in the original run, as opposed to the 6 seasons that The Flintstones got, but it slowly built a cult following; and by the 80s it was popular again and for the first time in 20 years, they made new episodes with much of the original cast. However, by '89 much of the cast was getting on in years and it was time to give The Jetsons a theatrical farewell. For Jetsons: The Movie they tried to use the formula that had given them success so long ago, using polished but still simple animation including dynamite vocal performances (this time, hiring the pop icon Tiffany to play Judy Jetson and hopefully bring in a younger audience) and including an environmental message in the main story. But this time, the formula didn't quite work. It was difficult to complete, as both Mel Blanc and George O'Hanlon died during production, and ended up getting pretty awful reviews from the critics at the time. But going back and watching it, the movie (and it's killer 80s pop soundtrack) is a strange time capsule, where it represents both nostalgia for the 60s and the 80s at the same time... with Brad and Jon and Griffin and Alex from Woodchickens!
