Michael McGlinn is our guest on this episode. He is a husband and father, film maker, recording artist, founder of Sistine Films and the Adore Him Daily website. Michael played football at Notre Dame under the legendary coach Lou Holtz, although a life of football was not ultimately Michael's calling. While at Notre Dame he developed an interior life, a devotion to the Rosary, and a deep feeling of peace. Michael left Notre Dame drawn to music and spent time in Nashville in search of his dream. He is a multi-instrumentalist (voice, guitar, bass, piano) and played with legendary musicians such as Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, The Allman Brothers Band, and Genesis. Michael's life changed when he was given the opportunity to shoot a film in the Holy Land. This and many other experiences led him to develop a deep devotion to our Lord as well as his Catholic faith. Michael credits his success to attending Mass, Eucharistic Adoration (Holy Hour), praying the Rosary, devotion to the Divine Mercy and Sr. Faustina. The Holy Hour helps Michael ground his busy life by dedicating each day to the Lord. Michael encourages us to dedicate each of our days to the Lord. He challenges us to start each day in adoration of our Lord through the practice of a Holy Hour. Michael's passionate love for our Lord and the abundant fruits of his labors are a testament to the efficacy of this practice. Through his ministries and films, Michael hopes and prays to bring many people closer to our Lord. First of all, let's be clear. Can we possibly be the best Ray Charles podcast and the best ever about this box set called The Birth of Soul, without Matt? Probably not, but three of us got together on a school night and tried. We find out how Aaron gets his weather (wild), how my uncle was in the Miami Sound Machine, and we dive into Spotify Leagues. Rob talks beds on the plane; you will never guess how Aaron says Swordfish. (Actually, I bet you could.) and Russell is living it up in Vegas. Then we hear the greatest story of all time and finally drag ourselves to talk about this 53-song, 3-cd, 140-minute-long box set. Set your watch to deep sleep and join us as we talk about Soul music and why so many of these songs make us think about how we could circumcise a gnat. Next week we don't talk about the BBQ and we talk Joy Division with Unknown Pleasures. Call or text the Bext Line at 802-277 BECK.
Our friends Karella and Sherol are here to talk Jon Secada! He started his career as a music teacher turned member of Miami Sound Machine, then ruled the charts with his single "Just Another Day". We are all over the map, talking MJ's "HIStory", TLC's RAV4's, my car boombox, J-Lo & Ben, The definition of "Zaddy", AOL dialup, and old school phone hotlines.

Their hit song "Dr. Beat" brought international success, and Emilio made the significant decision to step back from the band to support Gloria as her career soared. Their albums "Primitive Love" and "Let It Loose" marked a turning point, leading to Gloria's solo career and shaping the future of crossover Latin music. Gloria Estefan walked so Shakira and Ricky Martin could run. She's the OG Latin crossover star, the artist who broke through to the mainstream with Miami Sound Machine and their massive hit "Conga" in 1985. She was also one of the best female balladeers of the 1980s, with songs like "Anything For You" and "Don't Wanna Lose You." In 1993 she released her first solo Spanish-language album, Mi Tierra, an homage to Cuban music. It spent a whopping 58 weeks at the top of the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, only overtaken in 2020 by Bad Bunny.Songs played:CongaCan't Stay Away From YouVolverásMi TierraNo Hay Mal Que Por Bien No VengaTradiciónSupport the showIf you like this podcast, please subscribe and give us a 5-star rating on Apple PodcastsFollow The Clave Chronicles on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook @clavechronicleshttps://theclavechronicles.buzzsprout.comIntro and outro music: "Bengo Latino," Jimmy Fontanez/Media Right Productions

Estefan is also the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Honor and has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
