While the Prodigy kids finally meet the REAL Janeway and her cronies, guest Kregg Castillo finally meets the XINDI! It's outrageous! Also, Okona is in this episode for some reason, and that we means we get to reminisce on all the ways that TNG Season 2 was such remarkable television. Kregg doesn&t remember Okona, and Jack also has some startling revelations about Prodigy that he already should have known. Oh, and ANDOR TALK! It's all here, and it's all outrageous!

The boys all head back to Deep Space 9 to reopen the wormhole, and they're just as excited as the Cerritos crew! Kregg, being a Ferengi expert / Dabo Boy, tells everyone AAAAAALLLLLL about Quark and his “Dabo Wheel”. Plus, who can forget faithful Mariner, and her adventures in candle making? Plus, we talk about the HOTTEST new Star Wars show. That's right, ANDOR. Reopen 2022 with us.

Golden Ferengiman Kregg Castillo returns to join Barm, Sean Davis and Jack to rejoice at the prospect of the first M'Benga-sode and the return of a holodeck-adjacent flight of fancy, a classic Trek staple. And Hemmer central! Not to say there aren't problems, however. Your boys have some ideas to improve the episode, like having Martin Short playing M'Benga's daughter. They also advocate for the return of the castrati, discuss the canonicity of Benny Russell, compare to real children's books, and delve deep into the Obi-Wan finale, and cap it off with some Moreville. Obi-M'benga-nobi lives.
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
Golden Boy Ferengi and Space Merchant expert Kregg Castillo takes his first adventure to a strange new world, accompanied by Barm and Jack. They compare said world to Mustafar and Alexandria (not the real city, the one from Final Fantasy IX, ya dum-dums), imagine what it would be like if Discovery characters were capable of making fun of each other, dish on child actors and talk about all the great TV that's on now! * (”Now” meaning June 2022). It's as fun as boning your old flame behind you find out her terrible secrets!
The wormhole is, indeed, in need of some reopening, yet again! Our Tongo extravaganza is not quite complete, and here we are joined by Cam Siemer of What Were We Watching and Young Jedi Knights Club, as well as our resident Ferengi expert Kregg, to talk about this Troi-centric episode of TNG, in which another empath boards the station and seduces our fair counselor, with, as Jethro Tull it, bad intent, and a delegation of Ferengis and others haggle over the discovery of a *GASP* stable wormhole?! What is this, DEEP SPACE NINE? No, my friends, it is not, but it is the return of RTW, an episode recorded literal months ago that we are thrilled to finally have out there in the ether. Will there be another gap of notable size between this episode and the next? I DO NOT KNOW. Hopefully not? Time will tell. Anyway, enjoy this discussion and some dope rhymes. For the first time in Season 2, Space Merchant expert Kregg Castillo and Richard Dunham (Ghibli Minute, Akira Minute) join Jack and Kev Young (Reopening the Wormhole) to talk about Mercy! They dig in and feast upon Picard and Guinan's encounter with Agent Faux Mulder, ponder the bizarre implications of Adam Soong's history, bitch about more magical camera bullshit, and try to get to the bottom of just what Q can and can't do. It's more delicious and nutritious than a parking lot's worth of car batteries!

Disco Season 4 FINALLY comes to a close, and Jack's wingmen Sam Stovold and Sean Davis are joined by Ferengi expert Kregg Castillo, who hasn't watched a single other episode of Season 4 to talk about Jonathan (aka Species 10-C)! The boys dish on a surprisingly decent finale to an okay season of Discovery, but it's too little, too late. Jack has cause to worry about his guest situation for Season 5. They're talking the season as a whole, the banality of Discovery's poignant moments, looking back at REAL early Jaxilly, learning to embrace the meh, dissecting Stacy Abrams' appearance, and ranking Disco season finales! But most importantly, ORBS, ORBS, ORBS! On to Picard! Surely that won't fail us.
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
JAXILLY is back, and so is Ferengi brother Kregg Castillo to PROFIT from the sixth episode of this CGI children's show! And you know what, hey, it ain't too bad. Join them as they talk about having a great Ferengi back again, struggle to remember the treasure-hoarding kooky character from their childhoods, hear again about Jack's hyper-specific lighting preferences, engage in advertently time Barry talk, and get back into Rules of Acquisition! There's GREED in that nebula!
I've heard of Shakespeare in Love, but Picard in Love? Yeah, it happened… and the RTW crew is more than ready to talk with Sean Davis about Picard's love, Riker's r-rated joke, Worf's seductive growl, and since it's a Tongo episode, you KNOW Ferengi scholar Kregg is there to add his take on some Ferengi whose horniness is only surpassed by their greed (like any good Ferengi). So enjoy a bizarre game show, some Trek talk, an epic rap, a dip into listener email for some Ryan Trek Updates (and more), and all the wild stuff you've come to love from the dolts of Reopening the Wormhole. Like drunken tangents. A lot of those. And get ready for more Tongo and whatever the HELL we feel like tossing your way at sporadic times throughout this new year! Because it's Covid season baby! Kregg and Jack do their thing again, where they get plastered and talk about Star Wars. Sorry for everyone who's waiting for Prodigy talk, don't worry, IT'S COMING. But YOU'LL be coming multiple times as you hear EIGHTEEN rankings and NINE Japanese titles as these two drunk Star Wars and cartoon fans indulge themselves. Hey, we gotta rub one out to Star Wars in between two seasons of Trek toons! It's the hentai-way or the highway, at least until we get to the Janeway. Force to tomo ni aran koto.
The Tongo Journey continues with Quark's historic appearance in the first episode of Voyager. Warning to Voyager fans: we love you, but if you have trouble with dissenting opinions about this pilot, please do not listen. Sean Davis joins the regular RTW hosts, Sam, Jack, and Kevin, as well as Ferengiman Kregg, to discuss this disjointed, bizarre, messy pilot episode of Star Trek: Voyager. They salvage what they can from the mess, but mostly spend several hours bemoaning its many flaws. Consider these friendly nerds the caretakers of your heart as you listen to them assert deep discomfort with the way this pilot chooses to build its characters, establish its story, and set a tone. Again, Voyager fans, we still love you, but we do not shy away from expressing our negative viewpoints on this pilot, so please be warned! Jack (cohost of the APECAST!) gets so excited about the meeting of the classic ape-like Mugatos with villainous laser-whippin' Ferengis that he has to call Ferengi expert Kregg (obviously!), Barm (as you do) and brother Sam (why not?) to go absolutely APESHIT over this wacky adventure. In the spirit of the episode, they have plenty of pronunciation problems of their own, while talking the Kzinti, Stephen King, Dark, Australian Tellarites, REFERENCES, What If…, Shang-Chi, and just about every movie currently in theaters. It's as sexually arousing as watching two Mugatus go at it.
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
On this 11th installment (again, not the same 11 you would think), Jack and Kregg are really scraping the bottom of the barrel, as they record a drunken commentary and make jokes about what is already essentially a joke; the fan dub of Episode III called Star war: The Third Gather - Backstroke of the West, based on a bootleg DVD with a Google translated into English version of the Chinese dub script of the film! And Barm is here to join them, kind of! If you want to follow along, look around for a copy because those Youtube ads are gonna SCREW UP YOUR EVENING.

It’s a Disco Party, and Jack has invited a cadre of glorious guests to celebrate his newfound freedom from the pressures of endlessly podcasting about Star Trek every week. Barm, Sam Stovold (Marvel Star Wars Explorers), Sean Davis (After the Credits), Kregg Castillo (Golden Boy?), Richard Dunham (Ghibli Minute), and an Ape-on in the form of Geoff Clarke (The ApeCast), are all here to dish on the finale and their thoughts on Season 3 in general. This megasize episode is more exciting than the BURN, and will surely resonate throughout subspace for all eternity.

Happy New Year’s everyone! Sneaking in just under the wire, Jaxilly COMPLETELY redeems 2020 with the classic JackBarmKregg combo talking Su’kal! We’re also talking baby’s first holodeck, the royal We, video games, Freud, the Ba’ul, our feelings on BURN revelations, some amazing HotTheories, and The Mandalorian, AGAIN. Does 2020, and this episode Su’kal? Nope, they’re SATIS, and so are you.

2020 lurches to an end with a sputtering cough, and within the putrid phlegm arises another installment of DRUNK STAR WARS! The Force goes back to bed as a scrumpy-fueled Jack and a still bathroom recording Kregg choke on some Disney tip-yip. Through the drunken haze, the two recognize the ways that this little Lego thing is strong in the Force, and also, the ways in that is why you fail. (Too drunk to make that sentence work proper). Wouldn’t be proper!? Wouldn’t have it any other way. HAPPY LIFE DAY.

Jack, Barm and Ferengi Expert and Golden Boy Kregg Castillo are BOOKING it to BOOK CENTRAL to discuss SANCTUARY. Which also means they gon’ talk about Detmer and Tilly’s Andorian hubby getting their trench run on with Grudge in their lap, Emperor Georgiou at peak intolerability (and Culber reacting appropriately), the Section 31 show they would actually be excited to see, ESL aliens, pronouns, Stamets jam sessions, really liking this episode, SEA LOCUSTS and fucking BOBA FETT. MANIFEST!

It’s the first big Disco party of Season 3, as Jack, Sam and Kevin of RTW, Barm, and Ferengi expert and Golden Boy Kregg collide in orbit over Earth, and tensions are running HIGH when the group finds itself dividing into factions. (And this is even before George Lucas pops in to offer up his hot takes.) Sure, we can all agree on key issues like Book = delightful, Georgiou = irritating, Saturn = awesome, but is this episode more overly melodramatic preponderance, or one of the best episodes of the series?? It’s the most contentious issue in America today, without question, but the difference is, we have ANSWERS. Or do we? The only way to rip the bug alien helmet off and open your mind is to PRESS PLAY.

Jack’s Silly bids adieu to Lower Decks (and one of our favorite characters) for now, with a group of All Stars! Jack is joined by Barm, Kevin Young (Reopening the Wormhole), Geoff Clarke (The ApeCast), Ferengi expert Kregg Castillo (Golden Boy?) and Sean Davis (After the Credits) to talk SERIOUS Lower Decks, Peanut Hamper and Exo-comps, the return of Pakleds, Bae Bajoran Badasses, Riker’s millionth appearance, and our feelings on Lower Decks as a whole! Plus Phat Pakled returns to drop some HOT RHYMES. We’re going out like a CHAMP.

It’s the second episode of Lower Decks, and the first appearance of a Ferengi in Star Trek in EIGHTEEN YEARS, so you know who Jack had to grab for this one! That’s right, it’s Space Merchant Ferengi expert Kregg Castillo, finally getting to talk about Ferengis on Jack’s Silly! In addition to waxing rhapsodic over their profound love of Quimp, the Dynamic Duo talk about where LDS has casually landed on the “Klingon Question”, Rutherford’s new grooves, fast talkin’ characters, and so much more! In addition to the debut of a brand new recurring feature, this episode will go down in history as the first official public announcement of a very special new project from Kregg that is sure to change lives! This episode, I tell ya, it’s Golden, Boy.

The drunk speak! That’s right, like our beloved Sheev, DRUNK STAR WARS has arisen from the dead, but the only difference is that this makes sense! Or as much sense as any drunk Star Wars episode could make. Jack’s bottle of whiskey may have cost 80 dollars less than Kregg’s, but the end result is the same: another few fantastic hours of drunk assholes whining about Star Wars! Jack has FINALLY found a sympathetic ear to try and keep track of what the hell is happening with lightsabers in this movie, commiserate about Death Star nonsense, pin down what is wrong and right about Threepio and hang out with Watto in Mos Eisley. The alcohol, it is IN THEIR BLOOD.

The Golden Boy, the guy who’s on like 70% of the episodes of this show, and your Jedi host are back to talk about The Last Jedi AGAIN, and this time you get to hear a cat vomiting WHILE YOU WATCH! Once you’ve watched The Last Jedi this way, you won’t ever be able to watch it without it. Short Treks Season 2 continues, and nearly two months later, Jack’s Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery and Short Treks Podcast is on the scene! That’s right, Jack is joined by Barm and Kregg Castillo, his most frequent guests of this venerable modern Trek podcast to talk Pike in more Sidhu-able fashion than usual! Baby Yoda, Tholians, and BDSM play, oh my! The boys also take a moderate dive into The Mandalorian, while the internet still cares about it. WE care, too. And when you hear what we have to say about Chingy, Starbases, and Bolian hair…. so will you.
RTW is letting loose the Dogs of War! That’s right! It’s our penultimate regular DS9 episode! And oohhhhh what an episode it is. Our Ferengi expert and friend Kregg Castillo is along for the ride to discuss the end of the Ferengi storyline on DS9, and so so so so so much more. In fact, at OVER 4 HOURS LONG, this one officially surpasses Indiscretion as our longest episode ever! That’s because there’s so much to talk about in this episode, and on top of that, we’re getting nostalgic for the wild and crazy ride RTW has been for us all and for our fans. It’s a gushy as it is weird, as emotional as it is stupid, and so filled with music. Not the least of which is the latest P-Unit song acting as the intro for the episode, and the debut of Rappin Kregg Sisko. You’d think that with only a single Trek Check, we’d be able to keep it to a reasonable length, but nope! We’re taking detours and playing new songs and old favorites and saying AHH NIIICE so many times, and, of course, disagreeing over the new Nagus. We pulled out all the stops to make this the Ferengi extravaganza to rule them all; it may take you several days to hear it all, but it’s all worth it to hear the insight, the bad jokes, the weird jingles, and, of course, countless digressions to discuss other things. It is everything you could want AND MORE. Just… LISTEN TO IT. And don’t forget to rate and review us, tell your friends, and email us at reopeningthewormhole@gmail.com to hear your thoughts read on air!
Having already returned to the Planet of the Apes, Jack and Geoff welcome Kregg Castillo back for an Escape From Ape City! And in looking at this animated series' second episode, the three ape pals find many a delight! They touch upon the fascinating charms of mid-70's cartoonery, anticipate the show's imminent ape-puns, and take another look at the newly-named LEX FILES.
Jack and Geoff welcome returning guest Kregg Castillo to talk about a movie that really puts the “bat” in “batshit insanity:” 2018's BATMAN NINJA. The boys marvel at DC's willingness to use their marquee character for anime weirdness, continue to deepen their appreciation of Gorilla Grodd, discuss questionable Japanese game physics, and delight in the film's unexpected mecha.
As Luke and Lando search for Bossk and IG-88 on Stenos, Sam and Brian find Kregg Castillo once again joining them on the podcast to discuss the opening of Galaxy's Edge, the reintroduction of beloved characters Rik Duel and Dani, and the bittersweet joy of seeing a Rodian frozen in carbonite.
When the RTW crew is faced with an insurmountable task, like having a lively and fun discussion about an episode where a beloved character loses his leg, they meet the challenge with grim determination. Whether or not they succeed is only for the listener to decide, but one thing is certain: war may be Hell, but podcasting is fun! Kregg is along for the ride on this semi-Ferengi-centric episode, and he joins us to discuss his thoughts on the DS9 documentary, as well as on some of Quark’s best monologues about the absurdity of humanity, Nog’s foolish ambition, and so much more. The guys manage to get through the heavy discussion by taking some fun tangents to discuss things like forgotten 80s horror franchise Prom Night (which has a distinct DS9 connection), their thoughts on the end of Game of Thrones, the popularity of Harry Houdini in the future, and so much more. This episode’s got all you want from an episode of RTW: serious discussion and deep thought, general buffoonery, and, of course, strange musical jingles, new and old, scattered throughout. Don’t miss it!

Barm and Kregg are back along with Richard Dunham (Ghibli Minute) to delve into Vena, the Talosians, the Cage/Menagerie, manipulative nostalgia, and some juicy Michael Burnham/Spock DRAMA. Along the way, we’ll dish about Section 31 being a cancerous tumor (not a tumor!) that needs to be excised from Disco, the awesomeness of Culber and Pike, Saru’s fight club (don’t talk about it), how Discovery is ALREADY Tarantino Star Trek, Ethan Peck’s Spock, Red Angel BULLSHIT and so much more! Ferengi expert Kregg Castillo makes his Season 2 debut on Jack’s Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast, and discovers that along with Barm and Jack, they are about to become Kelpien/Ba’ul experts as well. It’s an exciting time as we talk Ray Bradbury, Armus (of course), Saru’s wacky backstory shenanigans, the fun Ash Tyler/Captain Pike dynamic, the ridiculous and delightful over-the-top Ba’ul, Va’harai, making huge society changing decisions on a whim with no information and the tattered remains of the prime directive, and boldly going forward from here! Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disco season 2 ‘cast without those nutty Red Angel theories. THE PODCASTERS SPEAK.
Moooooogiiiiiie. …Or Margie, Morgey, Marthy, Morty, or whatever variation you choose. That’s right, the RTW crew is covering the first big Ferenginar/Moogie story, and you know that means Kregg is along for the ride. As Quark & Rom are dealing with the consequences of their mother’s radical actions, Benjamin is dealing with the consequences of his son hooking him up with Kasidy Yates! Of course, as is always the case, they stray off course to discuss things like Sam & Kevin’s video game credits, the wonder of people who are good at winking, and some detours for weird songs, like Gowron Eyes. It’s a super-sized episode with a ton of great discussion, weird jokes, odd jingles, and a lot of great surprises! You definitely won’t want to miss this. Happy Life Day everyone! Your gift is more Drunk Star Wars!... in commentary form. We’re going into the deeper gnostic regions of the Star Wars cinematic universe as Jack guides Kregg to some Hi-Third-Oh unseen Star Wars films for him. We’re kicking it off with something amazing; the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special! What more can be said here, except to tell you that if you want to follow along with us, try to find a version titled “The Star Wars Christmas Special” (even though that’s not what’s it called; the War on Christmas started MUCH earlier than we imagined), which also has commercials from the original airing, which are honestly more fun to see than the Special itself. It’s like a skyscraper made of hot dogs!

There are two Short Treks out that we haven’t even addressed yet, but first, it’s vitally important that me and Kregg get drunk and do a commentary for this almost forgotten thirty-four year old sequel to a classic movie. And you’ll find 2010 to be much improved with the addition of two drunk guys doing a lot of shitty Russian accents and making “that’s what she said” jokes over the film. Starring Helen Mirren, John Lithgow, Roy Scheider, and Bob Fucking Balaban.

Jack and Kregg get drunk and do an audio commentary for 2001: A Space Odyssey, for some reason. It’s a thing that doesn’t even have “star” anywhere in the title! So fire up your copy of the film and prepare for the only thing that can improve on PERFECTION: two drunk idiots talking over it. This summary can serve no further purpose; Goodbye.

Rejoice! Short Treks are here! New Discovery! But are Short Treks actually Discovery!? Just one of the many thorny issues Jack and friends are diving into as they luxuriate in the first new Silvia Tilly footage in MONTHS. Other topics on the table: Classic TV Tropes that Short Treks have no interest in discontinuing, the fate of 3D movies, Mad Max: Fury Road, when this Short Trek takes place (a subject of particular interest to a reinvigorated Continuity Carlos), what internet memes are like on sentient cat planets, insect larvae, and good ol’ Stephen King and Philip K. Dick! Also, dilithium crystals are silly! In the lead up to Season 2, remain short, and remain silly!
As Luke Skywalker and Artoo find themselves battling an entire spaceship controlled by a super-powered probe droid, Sam and Brian welcome first-time guest Kregg Castillo onto the podcast to weigh in on the first episode of the latest animated offering in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, Star Wars: Resistance! They're also marvelling at some wonderful 1980-era reader predictions for Revenge of the Jedi, examining the strange choices this comic decides to make post-Empire and debating which is the best option for fast-food friend chicken.

Just in time for Short Treks, it’s another amazing episode of Drunk Star Wars, with Kregg Castillo! (Don’t worry, we’ll be talking Short Treks soon). Jack and Kregg are reversing the format, as this time JACK is the one who is drunk and seeing the film for the first time! Boy, is he drunk! Listen to him over explain the same things repeatedly and SHOUT about Darth Maul! It’s the hottest of hot takes as these two boys are recording this straight after getting home from theaters! (Yes, that’s how long ago this was recorded). What should we drink to? Let’s drink two (hundred) and see what happens!
No show is perfect - even one as great as Deep Space Nine. And today, the guys are covering an episode that has been voted by fans as the worst episode of the show! And besides being one of the least funny Ferengi episodes, this episode is problematic when viewed through a modern lens in several other ways. And who better to discuss the unfortunate ways this episode treats cis and trans women than five straight cisgender white men! Josh Lee & Kregg Castillo are up to the task, bringing lots of levity to a conversation with awkward potential. Do the guys agree that this is the worst episode of the show? You'll have to listen to find out...
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast is finally back! That of course means Drunk Star Wars with Kregg, Part III, months after it was recorded. Give this five hour + monstrosity a whirl, and you’ll soon discover(y) why, as these two drunk idiots spent an inordinate amount of time and pain to get here. Many Bothans died to bring you this information. Anyways, making this into anything coherent at all has kind of sapped me of any energy left to write a snappy summary, so just listen to it, OK?? Just let this episode die… kill it if you have to.
After the second episode of Deep Space Wine 3 got way out of hand, the guys are back the next day, wiped out and regretting their decisions, but still rarin' and ready to talk about what many consider to be one of the best episodes in the DS9 canon. While Quark, Nog, and Rom are experiencing a wacky fish-out-of-water scenario, Kregg joins the guys to talk about the likelihood of professional sports existing in the Trek universe, 1940s US politics, Agent Carter & her role in the MCU, and Odog. As they finish off the last of the remaining wines, you'll reap the benefits of a delightful discussion that highlights why Deep Space Nine delivers the Trek comedy goods.
The chaos continues as we begin our exploration of wine and Star Trek in the second installment of this Deep Space Wine session! Mike Greenan and Kashmir Loveless are along for the ride again, and this time we're also joined by our Ferengi expert and Dabo Boy, Kregg, to figure out just what it is about the Ferengi people that seems to drive Federation Hew-mons so crazy. We're also trying to determine what constitutes a battle, examining the father/son relationship between Ben and Jake and straddling the line between how acceptably drunk you can be while podcasting, And we're clearly having a blast doing it! Deep Space Wine FOREVER!
Thank you for calling Reopening the Wormhole. To listen to a fantastic podcast about The Emperor’s New Cloak, the epic and stunning finale (chronologically!) to the Star Trek mirror universe saga, press 1. Hold on, we’re getting another call. It looks like Dabo Boy Kregg Castillo has joined your operators to talk about Grand Nagus Zek’s ill-fated business safari into the mirror universe. Topics available on our menu include the hotness of Mirror Ezri, the idiocy of Mirror Vic, the works of Schu-MANN, butt stuff, how seriously the Mirror Universe should be taken, and why Michael Dorn is a delight in ANY universe, among MANY other things. Your call is important to us. PLEASE stay on the line.
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
Hello there! We’re coming in too HOT and still barely making it in for May (sorry Last Jedi), but we’re definitely still flying HALF a podcast. That’s right, Kregg and Jack’s powers have DOUBLED since the last time you saw them, they are DRUNK and they’re back to talk about a movie that Kregg has definitely seen before, although strictly in prequel meme form. We’ve found a way to save you from our nightmares, and it is this podcast. It is a volcanic podcast, you will be safe here. But it’s only because we’re so in love with you! As we delve into the wacky and fun world of this profoundly flawed, profoundly entertaining film you will soon learn that only podcasts deal in absolutes. You FOOL! If you’re not listening to this podcast, then you’re OUR ENEMY. Love can’t save you, only this new podcast can do that! Listen to this, and YOU will have the high ground! Another happy landing!
Jack and Geoff are joined by returning guests Kevin Young and Kregg Castillo for a look at episode 2 of the POTA TV series: The Gladiators! And it's nothing less than a conversational battle royale as the four marvel at Pete Burke's sweet pro-wrestling moves, discuss the awesomeness of the humans-hunting-humans film genre, and check out another classic '74 cut from Geoff's Geoukebox!
Go for that summit! Jack, Sam and Kevin have to get to the top of Mt. Complete-a-DS9 Podcast, taller than Mt. Everest or Olympus Mons, cold, and surrounded by fierce Like-Likes. It looks like all hope is lost until Ferengi expert Kregg swoops in to save the day! But before they can reach that peak, they’ll have to talk about Kevin’s special brassiere, Dads, the Demon Class, Fizzbin Facts, Like-Likes, the various pop-culture figures who say “hoo-hoo” and “woo-hoo”, shudder-inducing physical injuries, buzzing, and unfunny “funniest” lines out of context, as well as the deep and abiding frenemy-ship between Quark and Odo whose name must never be spoken and why Jake and Nog are the best AND the worst roommates ever. We think you’re like gonna like, like-like this, like, podcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U2KUguvtJk
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
In classic Jack’s Silly fashion, here’s our promised Part I of Drunk Star Wars with Kregg, coming at you a whole two days after May the 4th! Kregg watches Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones for the first time and gets nice and drunk but still remains his charming self, while Jack is drunker than he expected and begins veering into angry shouty fanboy territory! See how much you can endure! But while their inebriation styles may be different, Kregg and Jack can agree on at least one thing: this movie SUUUUCKS. Get yourself some drinks and spend a few hours with us to find out WHY. Weesa muy muy drunk!
Welcome one and all, to the HOUSE OF QUARK! Ferengi expert Kregg Castillo is back with all his charms for the second week in a row to lend the gang a hand as they enjoy blabbing about this fun and unique clash of Ferengi and Klingon cultures. They’ll also be rolling out some new features, debating definitions of basic words like “person” and “man”, spelling some wacky Star Trek words, talking about paintings from medieval Europe, and basically everything else besides that that you could ever want from a Star Trek podcast. Also, Kregg is a gasp…. Keiko hater!? The drama unfolds right here, and the only way to hear it is to get hitched… to Reopening the Wormhole!
They're finally here, performing for you! Welcome to Donkey Kong Country! For the first annual APE-RIL Special, Geoff and Jack have assembled a whole gorilla troop of Kong-loving game nerds for a mega-sized barrel blast of Kong-tainment! Barm, Sam Stovold, Kevin Young, and in their ApeCast debuts, Kregg Castillo and Duncan Hughes join us for an in-depth discussion of Donkey Kong's storied history, all the way from the 1981 arcade smash that brought the world Mario and DK to his Rareware developed 1990's heyday to the strange Gamecube era right up to his current successful partnership with Retro Studios. What we've played, what we didn't, what we liked, what we didn't like, and what is it about the graphics, the sound, the gameplay, and yes, the ATTITUDE that makes the series so beloved? What about the DK rap!? What of DONKEY KONG JR. MATH!? Is Cranky really the original Donkey Kong? Why the heck is he named Donkey Kong? It's all in here! Come on, Cranky, take it to the FRIDGE!
I mourn, you mourn, we all mourn for... Morn.. mourn? This week, Kregg joins us to help us determine just who exactly DOES mourn for Morn in one of Deep Space Nine's wackiest and most crowd-pleasing outings! We'll be talking about Morn's zany crew from the past, the harsh realities of working wages for extras, the Star Trek Tarantino movie we WANT to see and, of course, the beloved Mortal Kombat character Bo Rai Cho. If you're bummed that you too don't have a belly full of latinum, listen to this episode and you can a least have a belly full of laughs!

Well, it took a while but it’s finally here! The season finale of Star Trek: Discovery has come and gone, but not Jack’s Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast! In fact, to celebrate (?) this momentous occasion, Jack has made some phone calls and managed to gather together every single guest that has appeared on the podcast to date for a massive STD orgy! That’s right, old pal and JSLFNSTDP mainstay Barm, Ferengi/Mycelial Network expert Kregg Castillo, Jack’s ApeCast co-host Geoff Clarke, his Reopening the Wormhole co-hosts Sam Stovold and Kevin Young, and Ghibli Minute co-host Richard Dunham all drop by to witness the epic struggle between Continuity Carlos and his Mirror counterpart, say “T’Kuvma” a lot, describe the gritty Jetsons reboot the world needs right now, and just chat about the future of the mycelial network, Klingon penises, Twin Peaks, the Enterprise, about what works and what doesn’t in Discovery, what’s gonna happen on this podcast until season 2, and attempt to describe the entire show so far in one word. Once you enter Mr. T’Kuvma’s house, you’ll never want to leave! T’KUVMA!
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
Ferengi Expert/Mycelial Network Scholar Kregg Castillo is back again this week to dish with Jack about one of the biggest episodes of Discovery yet. But is it any good? That question, along with many others you never even knew you had, will be answered as Jack and Kregg also dive into Star Wars, the future of the podcast in a post-season one world, Caprica, Godzilla cartoons, how Stamets is like a Power Moon, the mysteries of the mycelial network, why Lorca sounds like a TIE Fighter, the world of snuggling and watching Battlestar Galactica together they wish they could have had, and whether this big Lorca twist was any good at all! (Spoiler Alert: it wasn’t.) The big twist here is that Jack’s Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast is as glorious as it ever was!
The Deep Space Nine crew may be looking in all the wrong places, but faithful listeners are looking in the right place if they're in the mood for rousing discussions about Worf and his little crush, Jadzia and HER little crush and, of course, Kira and O'Brien and their weird crush... thing... that they have going on. And, joining the RTW crew on this adventure (that really doesn't involve Ferengis all that much) is Ferengi expert and Dabo Boy, Kregg Castillo! You don't have to eavesdrop outside of people's homes like that creep Bashir to get in on the fun. Just tune in to US!
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
Jack is back, this time with pals Barm, Kregg and Sam to talk about Vaulting Ambition, both the episode of Discovery and the quality possessed by the show. Whether the show lives up to its vaulting ambitions is a question they’ll debate, along with the morality of eating meat (even if it is delicious threat ganglia), the impossible burger, what the hell happened to Voq, the reality of Culber and the mycelial network, the regal grandeur of Emperor Phillipa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centaurius, family ties in the mirror universe, and just who the heck this show is supposed to BE for, anyways. Along the way, Jack can’t remember what podcast he’s on, Barm can’t tell the differences between flowers and genitalia, and we’re all not really sure what’s what anymore. Listen and determine YOUR quantum variance!
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
He’s finally back, performing for you! That’s right, the long wait is over, and Discovery, and by extension Jack’s Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast, is back! And they are both on FIRE! Joining Jack for the first time in 2018 are old buddy Barm and Ferengi expert Kregg Castillo, to enlighten us all on such topics as the mechanics of the Mirror Universe, what kind of costumes they liked to wear as children, proctology and the necessity of not keeping assholes waiting, how great Captain “Killy” is, what Jonathan Frakes brings to the table as a director, that new Star Tarantino project, and so much more silly little friendly neighborhood bullshit. Plus, stick around to hear possibly the greatest email that has ever been written. Hail the Empire!
Welcome to another wild and wacky episode of everyone’s favorite DS9 Podcast! We’re delving deep into this serious and heartfelt episode about Nog dealing with the horrors of war by escaping into a world of fantasy, specifically Vic Fontaine’s 1960s Las Vegas nightclub, but we’re ALSO blowing the lid open on the legend of Jimmy Dar Dar, the greatest podracer of all time and TRUE winner of the Boonta Eve Classic, something you WON’T find in the history books! Beyond that, we’re also talking about superhero roller coasters, the 1994 Best Picture nominees, some classic Final Fantasy games, Clydes, The World of Vic Fontaine, an amazing reimagining of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and so much more! We will NEVER APOLOGIZE for the things we do, and neither should you for loving them!
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
The “midseason finale” of Jack’s Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast is finally here, and it WAS WORTH THE WAIT. In this mega-sized and laugh-filled look at “Into the Forest I Go”, Jack has assembled all of the previous guests (and one new one!) under one (Skype) roof and they can hardly contain themselves, or even ever just stop saying the word “T’Kuvma”. They’re here to bust a gut talking about Klingon boobs, Starfleet sideburns, crazy plot theories, the BEST way to open doors and turn on lights, George Lucas’s plans for Star Trek Special Editions, the nuttiness of Lorca’s plan and so much more. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll be able to help Continuity Carlos step out from under Jack’s shadow and become his own man.
Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
Ferengi Expert and frequent Reopening the Wormhole guest Kregg Castillo makes his debut on this podcast to talk with Jack and old standby Barm about an episode of a TV show that will most likely never have a Ferengi in it. But it DOES have HARCOURT FENTON MUDD, time crystals, a gormagander, a Lorca death reel, war steam and so much else, and you better believe we’re talking about ALL OF IT. Come with us as we explore Kregg’s heritage, expose the dark heart of Hollywood, visit Jack’s news desk and see the ever-changing world of Japanese titles of things. HARCOOOOURT!
Join the RTW gang as they begin their journey into the second half of the podcast! And who better to accompany them than Ferengi /Space Merchant expert and Dabo Boy Kregg Castillo? This week they’re talking about Bar Association (Bar Associate, Netflix?), and as usual they’ve got a lot to talk about, things like labor unions, what the hell is going on with money in the Star Trek universe, Magikoopa vs. VertebrateDick, O’Brien’s ancestors, Crewman Daniels’ acting career (much more interesting than the Temporal Cold War), a Voyager episode that they actually like (shocking!), Kregg’s idea for what could be the greatest podcast of all time and so much more! It’s the episode the FCA and the upper management don’t want you to hear!
This week, we go where no Reopeners of the Wormhole have gone before, by doing our second Ferengi episode in a row! That means, of course, that our Space Merchant Expert Kregg Castillo is back to join us once again to talk about BODY PARTS! Specifically, vacuum-dessicated Ferengi body parts and human/Bajoran wombs. Also, we’re talking about the magic that is Brunt at his most villainous, the pregnancy that spawned this whole crazy baby-surrogate storyline and, for some reason, grocery store commercials! If this episode was available on the Ferengi Futures Exchange, you better believe it’d be worth all the latinum in your bank account.
Hoooooo boy! We've got a long one here! Iggy Pop regrettably wasn't able to make it, but we've got our favorite Ferengi expert, Kregg, with us to discuss this absolute gem of a Ferengi episode. The discussion, like the episode, is a non-stop delight, careening between topics as diverse as the new Alien movie to CGI Paul Walker, and everything in between. But things REALLY take off when we read the most long, exciting, and confrontational RTW fanmail yet. It's a doozy, and you won't believe who the sender is! Listen now, or be forever doomed to repeatedly run into walls after your death!
This week the gang is tackling DS9’s very first Ferengi episode, so you know what that means! That’s right, our resident space merchant expert Kregg Castillo joins us to meet The Nagus! The fun never stops us as Kregg enlightens us on the similarities and differences between early and later season Ferengi and the hidden connections between Star Trek, Ace Ventura, and The Running Man (that’s right, we’re talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger AGAIN), teaches the proper usage of the particle “an”, helps us answer his own gosh darn emails, and forms a morning zoo shock jock DJ show with Jack! Like frozen tube grubs, this podcast is surprisingly succulent!
Deep Space Stein is finally upon us! That's right, folks, the guys are diving into a day of drinking craft beers and watching Star Trek. And since today's episode is a goofy wallop of a Ferengi episode, we're joined by our good buddy Kregg! You'll hear us discuss the nostalgia of many 90s TV commercials, a bevy of Fake Rules of Acquisition, geriatrics, and the first (and probably last) episode of Kregg's Craig's Krag's Crags. It's a delightful romp into the inner workings of Quark's (and your hosts') minds that you won't want to miss!
This week, our resident Ferengi expert joins us for the fourth edition of Ferengi Talk to rap with us about our most Ferengi-centric episode yet! And boy oh boy, we’re finally getting our golden chance to talk about Brunt AND Moooogie! Plus, we don’t know it at the time of this recording, but this episode kicks off the latest exciting Reopening the Wormhole event, The Second Cavalcade of Guests! And what a way to begin... We’re getting into deep, deep discussion of Jerry Seinfeld’s cult classic, Bee Movie, we’re diving into the second thrilling installment of our side-podcast, Kregg’s Crags, we’re figuring out how Quark acquired his groove back and Kregg’s telling us all about his favorite anime character archetype! And that’s barely scratching the surface. Truly, this episode is more valuable than all the gold-pressed latinum in the quadrant!
This week is our 50TH EPISODE! And what better way to celebrate the historic occasion than by inviting our good friend and resident Ferengi expert, Kregg Castillo, to join us for a lively discussion about Quark’s romantic side? We also dive deep into The Twilight Zone, marvel at an unusual role from Brock Peters’ past, examine George Kostanza’s Cardassian fetish and we debut an episode of our new podcast, Kregg’s Crags! Plus, there’s a lot of Star Trek talk too. Garak being murderous. Bashir being full of himself. You know the drill. Thanks again for joining us for these first 50 episodes! The next 50 are going to be EVEN BETTER.
Jack surprises us by having our old buddy Kregg Castillo join us out of the blue for our second installment of Ferengi Talk! We’ve got a lot to unpackage today, from Tulaberries to Grand Nagus Zek’s ear hair to to the shadowy Dominion to the complicated female politics of Ferenginar. Along the way, we think about more actors that would be cool Jokers, we try to draw connections between this episode and The Graduate (despite the fact that none of has seen it), Wallace Shawn stops by to giggle at us and we talk at length about Ferengi boobs and their important role in the Star Trek universe and in pop culture as a whole. Also, be sure to check out Potion Seller if you wanna know what we're talking about, and let's see if we can get this baby up to a billion views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_FQU4KzN7A
The guest that we had lined up this week had to cancel at the last minute, but the Cavalcade of Guests goes on! The gang heads to Quark’s for an emergency spin of the Dabo wheel and then are joined by their good friend, Kregg Castillo. We dive right into some deep Ferengi Talk as we examine the moral implications of Quark involving himself in the business of selling weapons and get Kregg’s opinion on the show as someone fairly unfamiliar with it. We also manage to spend plenty of time discussing the magnificence of Lawrence Tierney, Andrew Robinson’s turn in Dirty Harry, some fantastic Sisko Moments and of course, Morn’s penis. So, grab yourself an extra smooth snail juice and get ready for a hell of a time! ReopeningTheWormhole.com
