POPULARITY
On this week's motivation monday, I'm talking to Alison Arngrim. New York Times Best Selling author of Confessions of A Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated, Alison Arngrim is best known to viewers world-wide for her portrayal of the incredibly nasty “Nellie Oleson” on the much loved, long running hit television series Little House On The Prairie, and continues to amuse audiences through her many film, television, stage and multi-media appearances. Her one woman show Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, which started at Club Fez in New York in 2002, has now become a world-wide phenomenon, having been performed to packed houses in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Green Bay, San Francisco, Seattle, and in France, where Arngrim performs entirely in French to standing room only crowds in her all-French version titled: Confessions d'une Garce de La Prairie and La Malle aux Tresors de Nellie Oleson. As a stand-up comedian, Arngrim has headlined at nightclubs such as the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Store and the Improv in Los Angeles; as well as the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York and assorted comedy venues across the United States and Canada. She is currently starring in two comedy series pilots: Life Interrupted, as the ex-wife of commercial child star Mason Reese, with Erin Murphy, (“Bewitched”) as her new wife and Dawn Wells, (“Gilligan's Island), as her mother, as well as, C.P.R. – Child Performers Resurrection Talent Agency, as an ex-child star gone wrong, trying to save herself and her assorted misfit cohorts by opening a talent agency. Arngrim has mocked her status as an “ex-child star” on Jay Leno's Tonight Show, during their month-long parody, “Hollywood Survivor” and continues to be a frequent interview subject on everything from A&E, “E! Entertainment, TV Land and VH-1, to CNN and the Travel Channel. The TV Land network honored her undying image as TV's worst bitch, by declaring her the winner of their 2006 award for, “Character Most Desperately In Need Of A Time Out.” She starred in the heartwarming, gay, Christmas cult classic, Make the Yuletide Gay, as the overbearing “Heather Mancuso.” Her other television and film appearances include, Livin' the Dream, Tinder & Grinder, The Bilderberg Club, For the Love of May with Ru Paul and Patricia Neal, and The Last Place On Earth with Billy Dee Williams and Phyllis Diller. In 2007, she began her foray into French cinema with the role of “Edith” in the French detective comedy, Jean Pierre Mocky's Le Deal. Her stage work includes, The Vagina Monologs, Sirena: Queen of the Tango, Dear Brutus, The Wool Gatherer, the French bedroom farce, In One Bed And Out The Other, Michael Kearns' AIDS/US II, “Rita” in the 2005 GLAAD Award nominated production of Last Summer At Bluefish Cove, the somewhat off kilter “Reverend Pat Miass” in Joni and Gina's Wedding, and the Ovation Award Nominated musical-drama, Flirting with Morty, as the abusive, trashy and tragic Ray Lee. In her spare time, she takes tourists on the rollicking comedy outing, Nasty Nellie's Tour of Hollywood, (featured at Dearly Departed Tours), where she simultaneously enlightens and amuses passengers with behind the scenes tales from both Hollywood history and her own life. Offstage, Arngrim has been a dedicated and compassionate AIDS activist for nearly three decades, volunteering for AIDS Project Los Angeles and Tuesday's Child, an organization assisting children and families affected by HIV and AIDS. In addition, Arngrim currently serves as California Chair, National Spokesperson and Founding Board Member on the National Advisory Board of The National Association to Protect Children, or PROTECT.org, fighting to give children a legal and political voice in the war against child abuse.
Benny Harrison Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson What fun to sit down and catch up with keyboardist, singer, songwriter, producer, Benny Harrison, who I've known for 5 decades. There was so much I didn't know. Benny gave us the back story––growing up mixed race from hard-working parents who may or may not have been on the wrong side of the law, but who taught him strong work ethics and appreciated immediately and encouraged his musical gifts. When his brother sold his piano, Benny turned lemons into lemonade, practicing at a local school which garnered him his first professional gig with Henry Gross, which led him to sing onstage with Michael McDonald. When I met up with him, he was sitting in with Mason Reese, and then Phoebe Snow sat in with Benny and The Spydrs. A kickass player and entertainer, Benny was in regular rotation at all the clubs I booked back in the day. Benny tells a great story about a night at Spo-Dee-O-Dee's and a couple of huge surprise special guests. Benny has played with Vernon Reid; Corey Glover; Joe Walsh; Elvis Costello; Simon Kirke; and Charlie Drayton, among many others and for four years his Spydrs were the house band at The China Club's famed Monday nights where Bruce Willis, Rick James, Steve Stevens, Linda Perry, Eddie Vedder, Billy Idol, and whoever was in town, would sit in with the band. We talked with mutual zeal of our love for the place, those nights, that time. Benny has been active with Veterans who are either suffering from PTSD, alcohol, drug abuse, or homelessness, in a program called Voices of Valor. It's a 9-week process to write a song with the Vets who have served our country. He produces and creates the musical/harmonic part of the process, and then takes the Vets into a recording studio, where they can experience the process. He shared a most moving sweet story of a silent woman's transformation. Working on an upcoming Documentary, Back Up Front, it tells the story of players including him who started out in front, worked the backline and are once again stepping out front. Benny's upcoming album, Pages, drops April 14th. He had planned to perform a couple of the tunes with his producer, Mike Ciro, but that didn't pan out. He treated us to a few little tastes with an unmiked guitar. A few tech challenges, but as with all things Benny went with it, eventually singing a capella. He's a pro! To get the album, be at The Bitter End for the album release, and for all things Benny go to BennyHarrison.com. I got an advance listen- it's fab! I adore my dear friend. It was such a treat to get lost in time and tales with this talented, resilient, fun, and passionate, pal. Episode Notes S5E11 -- Join us as we dive into the mind of former child star and restaurant entrepreneur Mason Reese. He'll take us on his journeys from TV to talk shows and beyond.. Beginning at age four, Reese appeared in television commercials, and was known for his red hair and the distinctive, high-pitched voice with which he delivered his lines. The most memorable of these was an ad for Underwood Deviled Ham, in which he mispronounced the word "smorgasbord" as "borgasmord." The commercial garnered Reese a Clio Award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Commercial. He appeared in over 75 commercials for numerous products, among which were Ivory Snow, Dunkin' Donuts' "Munchkins" donut holes, and Post Raisin Bran. He attended Saint Michael's Montessori School, a non-denominational elementary school that was housed in St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Manhattan, through the fourth grade. In late 1975, he transferred to the Professional Children's School, also in Manhattan. Throughout the 1970s, Reese appeared in features and interviews on New York's WNBC-TV. He was a guest on numerous television talk shows,[2] most notably The Mike Douglas Show, where he made several appearances and also served as a guest host. In 1982, he and his mother voiced a series of syndicated, 90-second radio spots titled Mason and Mom, in which they offered lighthearted advice to children's questions, with Reese sharing a child's perspective, while his mother offered an adult's. At age eight, Reese wrote a memoir, titled, The Memoirs of Mason Reese, in cahoots with Lynn Haney (1974), joking to a Washington Post interviewer in 1982, "Oh yes, I think my second volume should be out any day now." After retiring from acting Reese became a restaurateur with multiple businesses in the New York City area. Also, Jim sings seriously for the first time, and it's not all that bad! Also, learn the real reason why the shooting star of the Donny and Marie show fizzled so quickly. Plus, Frank Oz, Rodney Allen Rippy, and Mason Reese! With that trifecta, how could any show be better?
Frankie D wonders what happened to good television. I also talks about childhood star Mason Reese getting dumped by his much younger girlfriend Sarah Russi. I also talk about how the former porn star, Jenna Jameson, can walk again. (Sorry this was uploaded late! There will be another episode uploaded on Tuesday!)
Do you wash your legs? Should you wash your legs? Bryan can't remember if he does or not. Possibly due to the hour long showers he takes twice daily! Hot water is a hot topic in many households. The timed shower is a familiar thing for many families. Bryan discusses his shower timing as a teen. Finally, Mason Reese was a 1970's-80's commercial child star who found love in a 20-something OnlyFans model back in 2018. Recently Mason and Sara announced their break-up due to a disagreement about how they ranked each other in bed. Bryan and Krissy review! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

For Video Edition, Please Click and Subscribe Here: https://youtu.be/9axD5iVMmZM https://www.facebook.com/steven.wishnoff The extent that he grew up at all, Steven Wishnoff did it with a colorful, extended family in Rockland County, New York. His early obsession with musical theatre and classic television made him a prepubescent entertainment nerd. At 15, a close family friend who owned the Apollo theatre, gifted him with his first piano. The pursuit of a BFA in acting for Musical Theatre led him to productions in dozens of regional theatres, tours and of course in NYC (a couple of la Cage aux Folles, a few Chicago’s, a bunch of South Pacific’s and others plus Howard Crabtree's Whoop Dee Doo). Others might have retired after doing a drag strip tease for Mike Nichols while singing I’ve Got To Be Me, but not Steven. Steven voiced The Crimson Chin Shorts (Nickelodeon- Fairly Odd Parents), the daily horoscope reports for AT&T, and many commercials. And then there was a five-year-run on Tom Fontana’s OZ for HBO where he worked with many of his idols from Broadway. As a writer, Steven wrote the LA Emmys for 5 consecutive years. He was the Creator/Executive Producer of the pilot/web series "Life Interrupted" (released 2/14/16) that stars Mason Reese, Alison Arngrim, Dawn Wells, Erin Murphy, Robbie Rist and Michael Learned. The show garnered nearly 20 Festival Awards including Best Web Series at The San Pedro International Film Festival, and multiple awards for the Principal Actors, Direction, Editing.
There was something so uniquely beguiling about four year old Mason Reese that Madison Avenue soon realized that this little kid sold product! Soon, young Mason was hawking Dunkin Donuts, Underwood deviled ham, Raison Bran and Kung Fu Adventure Sets. He was then guest hosting with Mike Douglas, interviewing his idols like Leonard Nimoy, dancing with Danny Thomas and driving the Goodyear blimp. To us mortal kids, Mason’s childhood was the stuff of dreams. But how was it for Mason? He is here to tell us. Plus Fritz and Weezy discuss Oscar noms and recommend The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Bad Reputation: The Joan Jett Story and Little Voice from Sarah Bareilles.

Epic show with my old pal, iconic child actor, Mason Reese. We spanned Mason’s emergence into his Cleo Award-Winning showbiz career, from age 4 to co-hosting the Mike Douglas Show at 7, passing on Johnny, teaching himself the drums, meeting his idol, Buddy Rich, seeing Sinatra, cultivating Eddie Murphy, Nathan Lane, and Robert Townsend, with his actress mother, loads of talk show appearances, a self-titled sitcom pilot, a student thesis film for Brett Ratner… to the rock years, from playing and hanging at Heartbreak, The China Club, The Rock ’N Roll Cafe, for me, Spo-Dee-O-Dees, to owning his own club and restaurant, and shooting his dream show. Stories, stories, stories, of the people and friends he met along the way. Many, like me, have been around for decades. There’s (in no particular order) Bruce Willis, David Bowie, Phoebe Snow, Dan Wells, Michael Learned, Julian Lennon, Harry Chapin, Eva Gabor, Michael J. Fox, Gordon Lightfoot, Anthony Michael Hall, Stallone,Billy Idol, Cher, and Camilletti…so much info, so much fun! Great input from the Live audience, thanks Doug Kleiman & co for your suggetions and remembrances. I feel like I time-machined back to simpler, funner, daze… i can almost hear the jam, smell the bud, and taste the slice. Why is Mason Reese Crying?
For Jonathan Goldstein, YouTube offers endless nostalgia, but he always finds himself returning to the same subject - a precocious child actor from the early 70’s named Mason Reese. And then a few months ago, new clips of Reese began popping up on YouTube. What's more, they appeared to be uploaded by Reese himself. Jonathan sets out to discover why - and why now, after 40 years.
