Are the boys both back AND in town?? Who's America's real dad? And what tires are on Barbie's car? We answer these questions and more as we squeeze into the parking spot for Season 1, Episode 10 of Family Matters. Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. And the best way to figure out how that happened - obviously - is to watch the last episode first and make our way backwards through nearly ten years of television.Join our countdown to number one (and our slow descent into madness) in all the places you expect internet people to be:Website: jumpingtheshuttle.spaceEmail: jumpingtheshuttle@gmail.comInstagram: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Twitter: @JumpingShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577TikTok: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Brought to you by Smooth My Balls

At the request of our lovely patron Jeff the Seamonkey, we're talking about DQ Spin-offs that could actually be a success rather than just niche cult classics. It's a lot of fun to get the ideas flowing, and BJ cannot stop thinking about all the various cozy DQ games that could exist. Oh, and Austin was wrong about Ron Glass. As we have said time and time again, a good format for a TV show never really dies, it goes away for a time and returns with a new twist. In this case, the timeless Neil Simon play The Odd Couple went from the Broadway stage to the big screen, then to the small screen with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. Less than a decade later, it returned in this form, with Ron Glass and Demond Wilson playing the lead roles.
Get a 45% discount on the Magic Mind Austin talks about at https://magicmind.com/dragonjan This will probably be our final DQ3 remake episode for a while, at least until BJ finds his Switch and stops being a total goober. The post-game of DQ3 is really cool, though it can get frustrating if you're working on doing it to 100% completion. What have your experiences been with the postgame, and were you like Austin and the superboss? Want to know what that means? And just who is Ron Glass? Gotta listen to find out! Before CBS launched a reboot of The Odd Couple (based on Neil Simon's hit play) in 2015, ABC decided to revive their old hit series as The New Odd Couple in the fall of 1982. With African-American actors Ron Glass and Demond Wilson as Felix and Oscar, respectively, this new version was not successful and was canceled after just 13 episodes. (ABC launched a Saturday morning cartoon version of the show, The Oddball Couple, in 1975, the year the original series ended its run)
Happy November, Overdue Rentals family. What a lovely way to kick off the month; a brilliant chat with Writer/Director Dean Craig about his new film, The Estate. We also are discussing what is arguable the film that put him on the map, 2007's Death at a Funeral, as well as it's 2010 remake. Now, to put this in to some perspective, here is a list of the insane talent that has performed Dean's work across these three films: Toni Collette, Anna Faris, Kathleen Turner, David Duchovny, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ron Livingston, Matthew Macfadyen, Peter Dinklage (x2), Ewen Bremner, Keeley Hawes, Andy Nyman, Alan Tudyk, Daisy Donovan, Kris Marshall, Rupert Graves, Peter Vaughan, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Keith David, Loretta Devine, Ron Glass, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, James Marsden, Tracy Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Luke Wilson...just to name a few! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overduerentals/support

The Love Boat-esque all-star guest cast includes: David Doyle (Bosley!) Ron Glass (from Barney Miller) Bernie Kopell (Doc from The Love Boat) as Farkiss Florence Henderson! Skip Stephenson!
Barney Miller rang in its seventh season with a few assorted homicides. The long-running police sitcom starred Hal Linden as the titular captain, along with Max Gail, Ron Glass, James Gregory, and Steve Landesburg. In "Homicide: Part One" and "Homicide: Part Two" — episodes that ran on October 30 and November 6 of 1980 — the entire station gets overhauled into the NYPD's new homicide bureau. And these detectives are not happy about the switch from mediating lighthearted community spats to hunting down hit men, murderous wives, and serial killers.Áine and Kevin report for duty to chat about “young, hot Stalin,” the Six Day War, Community and Parks and Recreation, and the nature of policing. In this episode Mark talks about both the TV series "Firefly", which premiered in U.S. on the Fox network on September 20, 2002 - which unfortunately was cancelled after only 11 of the 14 produced episodes were aired - and its motion picture sequel "Serenity", which premiered on August 22, 2005. Mark talks about the space Western premise of the show and the film, both created by writer and director Joss Whedon, and he also talks about the amazing, compelling, and diverse crew of characters of the Firefly-class spaceship "Serenity" and the actors who played them, including: Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, and Ron Glass. Both "Firefly" and "Serenity" have been highly regarded by Mark since he saw them, as well their characters, and he explains why to him and to others like him both the TV series and its motion picture sequel are considered to special in many ways and will continue to be counted among some of the best that television and cinema has to offer. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

Raze the land and boil the sea; you can't take this week's podcast from... us? What is it about this _Joss Whedon_ franchise that has survived cancellation and a lack of conclusion? Why is it that so many are such adamant fans of this short-lived series? This week, we're talking about fans of Firefly, the aptly-named _Browncoats_! Next week, we'll be tackling our final topic of the season: Disney fans (and its a doozy)! ## Episode outline ### [Last Episode's](http://fanthropological.com/e/34-james-bond-fans/) Famous Last Words **Tom:** Why do people care about this show? I guess Nathan Fillion is cool... Why do you care so much about it? Get over it! **Z:** What is the place of duelling in the world of firefly? How common is it? **G:** Is it really that good? **T:** Where's the second season? Why hasn't it been kickstarted? ### Fandom Facts **Origins:** > "Firefly" is a space Western set 500 years in the future, in the aftermath of a civil war between rebels known as Independents (or Browncoats) and a tyrannical conglomerate called the Alliance. The Independents lose the war, and under Alliance control, corporations rule openly; > > — [SFGate - When Fox canceled 'Firefly,' it ignited an Internet fan base whose burning desire for more led to 'Serenity'](http://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/article/When-Fox-canceled-Firefly-it-ignited-an-2628890.php) Firefly was a Sci-fi Western show broadcast in 2002. Created by Joss Whedon, only 11 of the 14 recorded episodes were aired in its original US run on the FOX network before the show was cancelled. Due to DVD sales, the show was deemed successful enough to have a movie produced, _Serenity_. It stars several fan favourite actors such as Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, and the late Ron Glass. **Names:** Browncoats, ["dubbed ... in honor of the doomed-but-noble Independents"](http://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/article/When-Fox-canceled-Firefly-it-ignited-an-2628890.php) in the show. **Most Active:** Firefly fandom was most active around [October of 2005](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=%2Fm%2F014v3t,%2Fm%2F02j9_2), which is just after the release of the movie, _Serenity_. Otherwise, interest in the show has been on a very slow decline with about half as much interest now as five years ago. **Size of Fandom:** We would estimate the size of the fandom as more than 200 000 people; After the show's cancellation, FOX released a DVD set of the show which sold more than 200 000 copies — enough to get the movie greenlit. **Fan activity:** Mostly shipping characters, as in other fandoms. During the early 2000's, "Shindigs" (informal gatherings) were popular. **Fanfics:** Archive of our own has over 5600, and Fanfiction.net has over 7200. ### Are you in, or out? **T is in.** **Z is out.** **G is out.** ### This week's spotlight **[Can't Stop the Serenity](http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/)** Can't Stop the Serenity is a group that organizes screenings of Serenity for charity, usually [Equality Now](https://www.equalitynow.org/), an organization working for equality for women and girls. Since 2006, they have raised over $1 mil USD, and it is entirely run by volunteers! > We share the ideal that people should “aim to misbehave,” if it absolutely means doing the right thing. We hold true that anyone can make a difference, and no effort is insignificant. Further we believe that a government shouldn't destroy the rights of its citizens, regardless of sex. Basically, we watch our shows, support our causes and allow our voices to be heard because we live in countries which allow us to do so. But we realise that there are other people out there who can not do what we can do. > > — [Can't Stop the Serenity](http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/) **[The Race Against Time](http://raceagainsttime.

Chris and Scott bring you recaps of two important episodes in the first season of Agents of SHIELD and The Flash this week! In episode eleven of AOS, we reach the mid-point of the season and Marvel isn't making us wait for answers as we finally get to see what happened right after The Avengers movie when Loki turned Coulson into a Phil-Kabob. We also get to see the team all kick butt with their various areas of expertise and Victoria Hand, Raina and the recently, dearly departed, Ron Glass make appearances which never goes amiss. Over in Central City in episode six, Barry fights a meta-bully from his past called not-Collosus until Cisco gets around to naming him. Joe and Wells break up and then make up and Super Blogger Iris finally gets everyone to stop calling Barry "The Streak" (Don't look Ethel!) and the Flash is born! Also, Scott and Chris talk "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as they were hopelessly geeked out by the trailer that was released right before this recording and we get another listener email! Bingestorm to the Lazy Boy!

Like his son here on the Earthly Plane, Fred Trump is making waves in the Next World. He swears that his all-white town is not discriminatory while also decorating it with large posters of his president-elect son. We'll catch you up on the latest controversies surrounding the mayor of Trump City. Jackie Kennedy is still continuing her 24/7 impersonation of Marilyn Monroe. Speaking of Marilyn Monroe, the actress has an unusual would-be suitor stalking her. Who is he and what does MM's current boyfriend, John F. Kennedy think about the situation? We'll tell you the latest. Last week, former Barney Miller star Ron Glass arrived in the Afterlife and was greeted by a long-time impersonator of Glass' Miller co-star Abe Vigoda. The faux-gods approached Glass again the other day with an unusual proposal. What was it and how did Glass handle the awkward situation? You'll find out.

We also talk about how overrated Firefly is and if anyone under 30 knows what Barney Miller was. We have reviews of Arrival and Fantastic Beasts in the Box office Report. And In Blerd Notes we talk Chris Evans and RDJ staying on with Marvel, why the Walking Dead's ratings have dropped, the lack of scroll in Rogue One, Angela Bassett joing Black Panther, and Jared Leto being out as the Joker. Fidel Castro was the biggest name to transition to the Next World in the past few days. A large crowd was in hand to greet El Presidente, some happy to see him, some less so. One very unexpected person was in the crowd. Who was he? How did he and Castro get along and why did Fidel keep staring at his companion? One well-wisher who approached Glass, however, had something amiss about him. Who was he and why did he leave Ron Glass very confused? Fred Trump, father of president-elect Donald Trump, has been crowing non-stop about his son's recent electoral victory. Has being the father of the incoming Leader of the Free World gone to Fred's head? We'll tell you why some residents of Trump City, the whites-only community he runs, think so. Jim Morrison, former singer for The Doors-turned hardcore rapper, is trying to goad two legends into a public battle. Who are they and who is urging Morrison to go to war against them? We'll tell you.

Disco then interviews Ron Glass, from TV’s Barney Miller and Joss Wheadon’s Firefly. The rest of the show is pretty much a free-fall of retardation that never hits rock bottom.
