In this episode of The Evolved Caveman Podcast, Dr. John sits down with Rich Heller—a marriage whisperer with two decades of experience and the brains behind the *Rich in Relationship* podcast. Think of Rich as a relationship mechanic who helps couples stop setting emotional fires and start building actual connection (without needing a fire extinguisher or a therapist on speed dial). They dig into the juicy stuff: Rich's own WTF moments that shaped his career, how generational trauma likes to crash your relationship uninvited, and why shame is the sneaky gremlin screwing things up behind the scenes without your knowledge or permission. They also take a sledgehammer to outdated ideas of masculinity (spoiler: being emotionally clueless isn't sexy), and explore how to create relationships that don't suck—with actual tools, not just good vibes. This one's for anyone who wants less drama and more connection—minus the woo-woo fluff.01:32 Rich Heller's Journey to Marriage Coaching04:16 Personal Reflections on Divorce05:08 Managing Anger and Emotional Triggers11:33 Conflict Resolution in Relationships17:22 Understanding and Releasing Trauma30:05 The Metaphor of Cleaning the House30:49 Exploring Masculinity Myths31:43 The High Plains Drifter and Masculine Myths32:48 Replacing Outdated Masculine Myths35:39 The Importance of Connection and Vulnerability36:16 From Fixer to Feeler: Helping Men Connect39:48 Understanding Men's Root Fears in Relationships42:41 The Role of Shame in Men's Lives47:55 The Difference Between Shame and Guilt53:08 Relational Wealth and Personal FulfillmentAbout Dr. John's Cool Guest;Rich Heller, MSW, PCC, ELI-MP, Rich is the podcast host of Rich in Relationship, and Marriage Transformation Coach. "What is life about? I had no answers. And so, honestly, my mental health did start to take a major toll." "A lot of these athletes, if they had the privilege of generating a good amount of income over the course of their career, are without financial advising and the appropriate kind of financial counseling to help set them up for the long term." "I think it's really healthy to go through those emotional ups and downs afterward. That's a healthy grief process." "A lot of times people think I'm grieving... I grieve the routine I had training every day in the gym." "We're not created to be alone. We need community for sure." "We need to recognize all the value that we have intrinsically as each individual human being on top of what you can do in your sport." "Lean into the fact that you get to experience the Olympic village, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to connect with fellow athletes on a human level." This week on Speakernomics, Robert Kennedy, III speaks with International tour expert, Elaine Rodriguez, about the significance of retreats for speakers and coaches. Elaine discusses the planning process, pricing considerations, and the importance of aligning the retreat theme, activities, and location. She emphasizes the need for a balance between learning and free time for participants to absorb information. In this episode, Elaine will share: Retreats for Impactful Messaging: Retreats are presented as a pure way to convey messages, connect with clients, and facilitate transformations, allowing speakers to impact their audience more deeply. Strategic Planning and Pricing: Speakers are advised to plan retreats at least nine months to a year in advance, considering audience affordability. Pricing should reflect the value provided, with an emphasis on not undervaluing one's time and effort. Balancing Structure and Spontaneity: The ideal retreat schedule includes a mix of learning, coaching, and free time. Leaving room for spontaneity allows for unexpected, impactful activities and enhances the overall retreat experience. Join Amie today as she shares an episode from her Empowered Divorce Podcast where she talks about the importance of healing from betrayal by BELIEVING your body. Your body's memory is an integral part of trauma that goes way beyond the cognitive part of your brain. The body holds so much memory and it influences your physical health, emotional wellbeing, and behavior. Acknowledging and addressing this aspect of trauma is vital to your overall healing. Trauma isn't just a psychological issue. It's a physiological one as well. To truly heal, it is essential to address the impact that trauma has on the body and allow for that integration of mind and body in the recovery journey.
