PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Michael Mohan (IMMACULATE, THE VOYEURS, EVERYTHING SUCKS) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his career journey and the making of his hit new horror film IMMACULATE (in theaters now). From seeing BACK TO THE FUTURE as a child and how the film set him on his journey of becoming a filmmaker… to going to Chapman for film studies and the indie films that made the impossible dream of becoming a filmmaker seem possible for him… to shooting and editing short films and scenes for actor friends in need of “tape” for their reels… to his trials and tribulations working on various film and television projects on his way to his first feature… to what it's been like working with actress Sydney Sweeney on multiple projects… to how he convinced the IMMACULATE producers to hire him with an extensive pitch deck… to some completely coincidental similarities that IMMACULATE shares with a certain other “neo-Nunsploitation” horror film that's currently in theaters… to his great advice on not relying only on sustainable gigs… and how he created IMMACULATE's incredible final shot… Mohan is certainly having an amazing moment and deservedly so! Also… Adam gets Sea Monkeys again after a traumatic first experience with them as a child, the group shares the first CD's they ever bought, Joe and Michael explain their philosophy on using Letterboxd, and Adam reveals his biggest personal issue with the theatrical poster for his 2010 film FROZEN in this terrifically candid conversation between three filmmakers. Meet Adam Green, Kane Hodder, and Felissa Rose from the HATCHET franchise next weekend (April 19th - 21st) at New Jersey Horror Con in Edison, NJ! For more upcoming 2024 appearances visit www.ariescope.com
PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Vera Drew (THE PEOPLE'S JOKER) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen in the ArieScope Studio to discuss her career journey and the making of her debut feature THE PEOPLE'S JOKER - in theaters now! From her work with Second City in college and her love of performing live comedy… to her first internship working with the amazing Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim… to going on to editing on show's like Sacha Baron Cohen's WHO IS AMERICA, TIM AND ERIC'S BEDTIME STORES, COMEDY BANG BANG, and I THINK YOU SHOULD LEAVE… to the moment that she realized it was time to move on and do her own thing… to how she came to the decision to tell her deeply personal story in the form of THE PEOPLE'S JOKER - a queer coming of age movie that parodies the characters of DC comics… to how she pulled off such a technically complex production while simultaneously feeling she was physically coming apart herself… to her film's triumphant premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and the legalities that followed which ALMOST set the film back… to the pros and cons of crowd funding and the delicate balance of managing a team of uniquely different visual artists… Vera truly opens up in this inspiring conversation that is both comical and touching. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a filmmaker trying to cope with the anxiety of directing, Vera gives sound advice on what to consider before going the “parody” or “fair use” route with a project, and Adam finally confronts Joe over an issue he's had with him for years. Meet Adam and Joe THIS WEEKEND at ASTRONOMICON in Livonia, MI (April 12th - 14th)! Adam will also be appearing at NEW JERSEY HORROR CON in Edison, NJ (April 19 - 21), TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND in Irving, TX (May 17 - 19), MONSTERPALOOZA in Pasadena, CA (May 31 - June 2), and SCAREFEST in Lexington, KY (Oct 18 - 20)! PUBLIC VERSION. Actor and producer Jonathan Lipnicki (JERRY MAGUIRE, STUART LITTLE, THE LITTLE VAMPIRE) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his career journey. From his start as a child star in JERRY MAGUIRE, THE LITTLE VAMPIRE and LIKE MIKE… to what it was like working opposite a CG mouse in the STUART LITTLE films… to why he credits his parents for how he remained grounded and avoided the dark side of childhood stardom… to continuing to consistently act on both stage and screen as he grew up… to why he made the decision to move out of Los Angeles… to more recently working as a producer… to the making of his latest slasher feature CAMP PLEASANT LAKE (now available)… Jonathan is full of great advice on how to remain proactive and how to find happiness in both your craft and your real life. Meet Adam and Joe NEXT weekend at ASTRONOMICON in Livonia, MI (April 12th - 14th)! More appearances for 2024 TBA!
PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Weston Razooli (RIDDLE OF FIRE) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss the making of his debut feature film which is currently playing in US theaters. From the films that influenced the young filmmaker before art school beckoned him… to how he cast the kids as the leads in his bespoke quest… to how he got his cast and crew on board with the style of the world he was creating… to shooting on Super 16mm and why he almost pulled the plug on the film just a few days in to shooting… to what it took to get a music cue from one of the most infamous horror films of the 70's… to RIDDLE OF FIRE's amazing world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival… Weston's debut film is one of the most unique cinematic experiences of the year and this conversation is all that and a plate full of blow pops! Meet Adam and Joe at ASTRONOMICON in Livonia, MI April 12th - 14th! Filmmaker Dave Parker (THE HILLS RUN RED, TALES OF HALLOWEEN, PUPPET MASTER: DOKTOR DEATH, IT WATCHES) returns to THE MOVIE CRYPT to discuss the making of his latest film YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE LET ME IN (now playing on Tubi). From the whirlwind process of being hired to direct the project and immediately shipping off to Italy… to the supposedly “haunted” villa that much of the film was shot in and filming in a real underground tomb… to the challenges and the joys of helming a film as a “work for hire” while still finding ways to creatively make it your own… to the secrets for winning over a new crew… to returning to work with the great Charlie Band and directing PUPPET MASTER: DOKTOR DEATH (2022)… to how to stretch a production's extremely limited resources to create the best possible film… to why editing experience can be so crucial to directing… Dave's experiences from the last several years are an inspiring lesson on how to hang in there when it feels like things aren't going the way you want it to and just how quickly the tide can change. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a filmmaker who is working crew jobs while looking to prepare for the moment when he steps into the director's chair, Dave dishes on the food in Italy, and the group nerds out on the 2024 Oscars and the movies they've been digging. I was in Atlantic City for New Jersey Horror Con last week with Scarlett and Boney, and well . . . all I can say is you can't win ‘em all. Here's my recap of the April 2022 New Jersey Horror Con.
When horror fans think of "Leatherface" from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they think "Gunnar Hansen", and rightfully so. When the same people think "Leatherface" from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, they SHOULD think of my guest on Episode 246 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace... stuntman Bob Elmore. It's ridiculous how somebody else gets the credit for that role but literally had just two close-up shots in the entire movie. I recorded a short mini episode with him at the New Jersey Horror Con a couple years back and felt we needed to have a full conversation about his body of work. He doubled for John Candy in six movies... "Spaceballs", "Who's Harry Crumb?", "Only the Lonely", "Nothing But Trouble" and "Uncle Buck". He played the executioner in the first and third installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean", he had a small role in "Casino" with a career spanning close to thirty years. Bob is an awesome guy. Enjoy. A Bonus Episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast! "Hey! It's Enrico Pallazzo!" My guest is the awesome Mark Holton! We met and spoke for awhile at a recent New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival and hit it off. While speaking to him in Atlantic City, I felt like I knew him already, so I asked him if he'd consider coming onto the podcast to have a conversation. And here he is. We speak about that conversation we had then go into several of his movies like "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure", "Teen Wolf", "The Naked Gun", "Leprechaun" and "Leprechaun Returns", "A League of Their Own" and "Gacy" and how he was wrapping his head around the fact that his roles have stuck with so many people throughout the years. What a cool opportunity this was. I hope you enjoy this. Thanks for listening. The awesome Teri McMinn is my guest on this Bonus Episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. Finalizing the 5 Part series related to the 1974 classic "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Her role as "Pam" as the second-leading female role in the movie with q couple of absolutely iconic scenes to her credit including a scene that is studied in acting and film schools around the world... when "Pam" gets hung on a meathook by Leatherface. I met Teri at the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival a few years back. A sweetheart of a woman who, as with my past several guests are genuinely appreciative of their fans after almost 50 years since it was released. I hope you have enjoyed this series. Personally, it meant a lot of me for a lot of reasons. Respect. What do an academy award winning South Korean drama and a 90s Ice-T action thriller have in common? That's the question we address this month with the hosts of the Brothers from Another Planet podcast Lemar McLean, Tarik Davis, and Don P. Hooper. You read that right. This month we have not one, not two, but three guests! This month we address how both Ernest Dickerson's Surviving the Game and Bong Joon Ho's Parasite are stories of how for those without money, capitalism may truly be The Most Dangerous Game, one rigged to be unwinnable. And we consider the question: "Are rich people the Most Dangerous Parasite?" Don P. Hooper is a writer and filmmaker of Jamaican heritage. He was a staff writer for the 2017-2020 Writers Guild of America East Awards and his directing work has been selected and featured in the NYC Horror Film Festival, The New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival (award winner), Martha's Vineyard AA Film Festival, and more. His poetry has been featured in Unión de Periodistas, the “Ransack” chapbook and the “Jerk Apricots and Chains” chapbook. He does voice-over in video games and documentaries. He proudly reps Brooklyn, all day, every day. Tarik Davis is an actor/writer/avid pop culture consumer based in Brooklyn, NY. Past experience includes performing for Upright Citizens Brigade in New York, Boom Chicago in Amsterdam and The Second City in Chicago. Tarik wrote and stars in Page One, a short horror film that was featured in the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival. Tarik is a regular performer at The Pit with Comedy People's Time and The Baldwins and at UCB Hell's Kitchen with Baby Wants Candy. Tarik joined Freestyle Love Supreme in July 2019 at the Kennedy Center in D.C. and made his Broadway debut with FLS at the Booth Theater in December 2019. You can also catch Tarik as a main cast member in the Netflix series The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show and as the on camera announcer for The Amber Ruffin Show on Peacock and on the weekly podcast, Brothers From Another Planet. LeMar McLean produces the podcasts Brothers From Another Planet and The Taped Off TV Podcast. Since producing the web series Breakfast in Bed and the short film Page One, he's focused on screenwriting in the social justice horror/thriller space. Listen to Brothers from Another Planet! *Due to the coronavirus, the dates for this convention have been postponed until June 26th through the 28th 2020. The majority of the guests we spoke about have been confirmed for the rescheduled date. That being said, the reason why I am still releasing this episode is because I feel that people need to know about what this man does. And if you're not familiar with what really goes on at a "horror" convention, maybe you'll dig it and wind up attending one in the future. We speak about a lot more other than the convention. Thanks for listening* The Founder and Creator of the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival, and filmmaker, Ryan Scott Weber is my guest. I met him at a quiet diner in Somerset, New Jersey to talk horror, his history in his band "Crash Romeo" who used to be signed to "Trustkill Records", what made him pick up a camera to start making music videos and movies. He created one of the newer horror conventions in the Northeast but it stands on it's own with his own twist. He sheds light on independent film makers as well as having actors and actresses for all genres of horror films including some pop culture figures. He also created the "Horror Sideshow Market" which spotlights vendors as well as a few key guests. The New Jersey Horror Con takes place twice a year at the Showboat Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. If you're in the area, you should attend one and check it out. It's kid friendly and a lot of fun to get away. The next convention is in a couple weeks. From Friday, June 26th through Sunday, June 28th. Enjoy!

The final episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast for 2019. My guest is, well... I've met this man on several occasions. He's at every horror convention I go to. He has (un)blessed my child. He is a nice guy. He is a possessed priest. He is the purveyor of sin. He is "Father Evil". I sat down and spoke to him at the Horror Sideshow Market in Rahway, New Jersey. The Sideshow Market is created by the people who created the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival twice a year. This is a story of a man who was a scared child and turned his fear into a legitimate business within the horror community. A super nice guy under the white contacts, make-up, rosary beads wrapped around his hands and his cassock (Priest robe). Check this out, it's a little different but definitely a unique and interesting story. I hope you enjoy this one. Thank you for the support over the last year. You're all appreciated. Happy New Year! See you next Sunday at midnight in 2020. Respect.
Recorded Live from the "New Jersey Horror Con & Film Festival" at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. While at the convention, I came across a booth that had a unique set up from any of the conventions that I usually attend. I had a short conversation with Craig, one of their curators, about what The HSPPA does. If you're a fan of movies, whether it's Horror, Science Fiction, television shows or Pop Culture in general, you'll probably find what they do interesting. The are a non-profit organization that obtains legitimae props from a lot of your favorite movies and they travel from con to con just so you can see them in person and handle some of them yourself. From an actual screen used piece of the Death Star in the original "Star Wars", to Wolverine's "Claws" from an "X-Men" movie to Harry Potter's wand to the orange jumpsuits used in the prison in "The Human Centipede 3" to a screen used container from "The Stuff". To find out more about them, just search them on Facebook and Instagram at "The HSPPA". I'm glad I stopped to talk with Craig. Hopefully we'll meet up at some point to do a full episode. Enjoy!
Recorded Live from the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival. I had the opportunity to sit and chat for a few minutes with actor, Rob Mello. Known mostly for his role as the killer "John Tombs" from "Happy Death Day" and "Happy Death Day 2U". He was also in "Fear The Walking Dead" and several other films and short films. Really nice guy who I wish nothing but the best for. I hope you enjoy this short, off the cuff mini episode. Thanks for the support.

C.J. Ramone is a friend to the show, and for the uninitiated played bass from 1989 on with pioneers of punk rock, The Ramones. Prior to joining the legendary New York band, he was a Marine, and has some great stories. As you'll hear, you may learn of some of these stories for a future project in the works, just one of two major announcements he drops exclusively for SOFREP Radio. What I can tell you now though, is C.J. has a new album coming out May 10th on Fat Wreck Chords titled "The Holy Spell." This will coincide with a world tour, the first dates of which are now up on his Instagram @TheeCJRamone. Also, if you're in the New Jersey area, be sure to come out to the New Jersey Horror Con & Film Festival where he'll be signing autographs and meeting fans this weekend. In addition, on Episode 442 we react to the massacre in New Zealand and Jack gets into the origins of the "eco-fascist" ideology of this murderer and NZ domestic terrorist. We also read your emails, including one about new Netflix film starring Ben Affleck "Triple Frontier." Last thing you need to know, we put together a very special offer for SOFREP Radio listeners looking to join Crate Club and get the best gear handpicked by former SOF veterans. For a very limited time, use the coupon code SOFREP at CrateClub.us for 20% off any crate of your choice. Recorded Live from the "New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival" at the Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I caught up with the Legendary Harry Manfredini for a quick conversation. He composed music for dozens of films and television shows. He is widely known for the iconic soundtrack for the original "Friday the 13th" film. He worked on a total of nine "Friday the 13th" films, as well as "Wishmaster", "House" (1986 film), "Spring Break" and many more. He couldn't have been nicer. Hope you enjoy this.
Jeremy recaps his weekend at the New Jersey Horror Con, Jeremy's health is horrible. Erik's back from Disney, we have Joe Robinson'scorrections, and ... theres no movie breakdown, this is just a ploy to put out content this week.
Welcome back to an all new episode of the show where the boys decide to practice a little bit of voodoo! This week, the film pick comes from The Demonic Doctor Dave and he chose 1988's "The Serpent and The Rainbow" directed by the late, great, Wes Craven. Is there a running theme on the show that involves balls? Maybe. All the boys of Talking Terror know is that they are prepared for anything! Can a person become a zombie? Is this the movie that helped Wes Craven out of his slump following a prior failure at the box office? Is being buried alive the worst way to die? All these questions will probably get answered but you have to listen to find out! Also, The Ghoul of Geek Keith and The Doctor provide listeners with a run down of this past weekend's New Jersey Horror Con and The King of Horror gives his take on Horror being a force to reckon with at The Oscars and if this means better opportunities for both Guillermo Del Toro and Jordan Peele!
Join us this week on Talking Terror as we delve into the 1988 Cult Classic, "Night of the Demons"! Directed by Kevin Tenney, and featuring Cathy Podewell, Amelia Kincaid and Linnea Quigley, along with a group of 80's teenage stereotypes that cover every corner of what the party era was all about! We're talking demonic possession, chicks on fire, boobs and bush people! Also, we'll be joined by the director Kevin Tenney himself, to discuss what it was like creating this film, and how he feels about it now, especially that it's considered to be such a classic of the 80's. Also, we will be joined by Ryan Scott Weber, director of "The Mary Horror" trilogy of films and "Pretty Fine Things", as he discusses his latest creation, the New Jersey Horror Con! Coming to Woodbridge, NJ, Sept 22nd-24th, this convention has something for everyone! This time we've got "Goonies" in the form of Sean Astin, and, making her very first US Concention debut, Kerri Green! Crispin Glover, George McFly and "Dead Fuck" Jimmy from Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will be doing VIP event signings of his book! There will be a "Night of the Demons" reunion featuring most of the main cast alongside the director of the film. Also, a "People Under The Stairs", Rob Zombie's "Halloween" and "Cabin Fever" reunions! This convention is jam packed with fantastic guests. All will be featured during tonight's episode in the picture slideshow! Get your tickets now at www.njhorrorcon.com and be sure to get out there! Look for The Ghoul and GhoulGirl at the Bonfire Bead Designs table while you're there and say hello! Stay Scared
