Hello Beautiful Lifers, Have you ever gone shopping for makeup whether at a department store counter, or, at a CVS, only to go home, try it on and think to yourself "what was I thinking?".   Makeup colors can be very tricky, as a professional makeup artist, I've been studying color and in particular, makeup colors and which looks best on which skin tone.  But, one thing, I found is that all makeup is NOT created equal.  Nor, are the treatment products. Today I will cover how to find the right colors for your skin's temperature and how to find your skin's temperature now. So, what do you do when you went to the store and purchased all these goodies?  Well, the first thing I want you to do BEFORE you go to the counter to purchase your goodies is to ask them their return policy for makeup.   Most places you can return open makeup products as long as you let them know you have opened and tried the product.  This will be sure that it doesn't end up back in the aisle. I had a friend who never took anything back to the store to return items.  It made me crazy.  To think she wasted hundreds of dollars and left it for them to have.  She'd never wear the clothes she bought that she didn't like, or, any makeup or skincare (even expensive perfumes).  These all can be returned.  Again, just double check with the store's policies and you'll know. Whatever you do, do not use the samples that they put out on the counters.  There are a gazillion of bacteria that get into them.  Purchase the item and if you don't like it, be sure to return it. I also cover some ways on how to beat S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) (yes, it's a real thing) and make your winter feel less dreary. With everything going on right now we are in a state of chaos and upheaval we have never witnessed before.  It's difficult when we don't know what to expect next.  We definitely have had a lot of unwanted stress thrown upon us, yet, we need to stay clear and focused during these times more than ever before.  I'm sure some of you out there might be going through some extra unwanted emotions, anxiety, fear, but, as you know, these emotions are poison to our well being.  So, how can we take a hold of them and knock them out of our minds altogether?  Well, one of the ways is through using  NLP.  What is NLP you may ask? NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It is a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States, in the 1970s.  It's something I've been studying for over 20 years now.  I first learned about it through Tony Robbins in his books and then onto John Assaraf where they teach us how to "retrain our brain".  As with anything else, we can actually teach ourselves how to do this (with daily practice).  So, with that said, would you like to learn how to: Reduce some of the anxiety and angst that might be nagging at you today?  Reverse disease and bring your body into good health? Russell Brunson is the founder of ClickFunnels and the author of three books: Dot Com Secrets, Expert Secrets, and his most recent book, Traffic Secrets. He was also a guest on episode three, where he talked about how to outline a book. To date, Russell has sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books. Today we are going into how Russell is conducting his launch for book three of his trilogy. As ClickFunnels grew, his business became less challenging and less exciting. For Russell, “Selling books extend my message more than anything else I’ve ever done.” Although never planning to write a trilogy, however, when he was offered to purchase Traffic Secrets from another offer, he realized he could easily create a trilogy series. Russell brings us through his journey of writing, rewriting and republishing his books in hardcover. He tells how he revised his first two books while publishing the third in his series. This is Russell Brunson, welcome to the Marketing Secrets show. I hope you guys are excited for today. So today I’m actually going to be taking a question from the clickfunnels community as we are getting closer and closer and closer to the Traffic Secrets launch. People have been asking to see behind the scenes of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and how we’re doing it. So while I don’t think I can show you everything just because it would take days, we could map out everything, I do want to show you guys the highlights of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. So that’s what this episode is about. The question I’m going to be answering is, “What’s happening with the Traffic Secrets book launch? Can you give us any insider details about it?” So I’m going to queue up the theme song right now and when we come back I will dive deep into that question and show you guys behind the scenes of what we’re doing and why. Everybody’s asking questions about this right here, the brand new Traffic Secrets book, which is coming out, the launch date is actually a week from Tuesday, which is crazy. March 17th we’re launching. So the question that we’ve been getting a ton from people is this, “What’s happening with the Traffic Secrets book launch? Can you give us any insider details about it?” So I would love to give you some insider details. There’s so many things that go into a book launch, or any kind of product launch for that matter, and a lot of people ask questions about what are we doing and how are we doing it. So I’m going to kind of tell you guys some of the stuff. So the first thing, step number one was, it actually started almost 2 years ago, so this is some seeding for you guys, to understand that product launches don’t start like a week before the product launch. Like 2 years ago when I had the idea to start writing this book is when it all began. So for the last 2 years, as I’ve been preparing it and figuring it out, and testing the material, and trying to learn the message that was going to be in this book. I spoke at multiple different events. I spoke at Dana Derricks event initially, that was very first, it was Dream 100 Con, and I spoke teaching some of the principles from Traffic Secrets. And I still remember I was in the back of the room, doodling stuff out before I went up, and I was testing these different concepts and ideas to see which things stuck with people, which ones made sense, which ones confused people. And then a couple fo months later we did a Traffic Secrets event for my Two Comma Club X students, and we taught it again for over two days, I taught the principles again and changed things and tweaked things. And then after that I started talking about it on my podcast, and on Facebook lives and all sorts of places. Then I tested it in little spots, and I would speak different places and I would try different things, and just kept testing the material. Then I started the actual writing process, which if those of you guys haven’t written a book yet, I don’t know, some people, some of my friends like Dana Derricks is like, “I can write a book in an hour.” Not me, it takes me a year or more to write the book. So I started the process of writing, and as I was writing, I didn’t just write in hiding, I talked about it a lot. On Instagram and on Facebook, I would share pictures, and I would share me writing. I’d share like, ‘Chapter number 3…” and I would do this cool doodle and show the doodle off, and try to build anticipation for the last year, and excitement. And hopefully you guys have seen pieces of that, and hopefully you’re excited right now. Half of marketing is making enough noise to get people to actually care. So for the last year, as I’ve been doing this, I’ve been taking people on the journey and that’s been a big part of it, because now people actually care. There’s relevancy of like why is this book, why should I care about it. And now people are excited for it. It’s similar to like, if you guys have been you know following the whole Marvel, the MCU launch of their whole series. It was years of building up and sharing video after video and this movie, this movie, all leading up to eventually Avengers End Game, which is when the whole thing kind of wrapped. But man, it was all about the pressure and build up for a long time that people to come and that’s why it became the highest grossing movie of all time. Alright so that’s how it started. Then as we got closer and closer and the book actually got done, then the next phase which we started recently was like, ‘I need to send this to some people to see if they like it.” What’s crazy is for me, as a writer, as anybody who creates anything, I heard Ryan Holladay say this in Perennial Seller, but when you create something, you’re creating it in private, you’re on your computer by yourself, you’re with your thoughts and you’re trying to create and you’re so excited. Then when you first try and make it public, it’s really, really scary. So we printed 300 copies of the Traffic Secrets book, and we did our Dream 100, which funny enough, I talk about in the Traffic Secrets book. We went on every platform, podcasting, instagram, facebook, google, blogging, and just found different people in each of the markets that we thought would be good for our Dream 100 list, which were people who could potentially promote the book, and we sent out copies a week and a half, two weeks ago. And this for me was the scariest thing, especially as people started getting it, and started posting it on Facebook and Instagram, “I got Russell’s book today.” Every time I had someone post that, I had the weird excitement and then like, “Oh my gosh, they’re going to read this thing.” And it was super scary. In fact, yesterday the master list builder, Joel Christopher, who is someone I learned from a decade and a half ago when I was first getting started, he got a copy of it, and he read the whole section one last night. And he was highlighting and posted pictures of his highlights. And I remember I saw the message come through and I was like, I had all the fear and anxiety of like, what if he hates it. And I looked at it and it was this page and it was all highlighted all over and circled, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so exciting.” I was at Tony Robbins birthday a week ago, and Garrett White was there, and Garrett came and gave me a hug and he said, “Brotha,” as he does, “Brother, of all the 3 books, this is by far the best.” I’m just like, ah, which is the thing you’re so scared about all the time, and then when people get it and you’re just like, ‘Ah, this is so cool.” So that’s been the second phase, the Dream 100 and getting it out there. And now, next week we have the actual book launch which is when the funnels will be live. So my job on this phase of the book launch is to get a funnel that is going to actually convert. So when affiliates promote it and we’re buying ads to it, we’re not losing money and it’s actually profitable. So we have been geeking out and working hard on this book funnel. And because I rewrote also the Dotcom Secrets book and the Expert Secrets book, all 3 books have been rewritten now, we’re doing new funnels for all 3 of them. It’s kind of fun. So you’ll see when the funnels go live next week, if you go to all 3 sites, they’re similar style. In fact, what you’ll notice about the style and this is kind of maybe a little tip for everyone moving forward, is it’s very much designed for mobile. Everything is one column instead of like, typically you always do pages side by side on desktop, but man, so much more traffic is coming from mobile now than desktop, that we’re just shifting our design style to really cater to that. So you’ll notice this page design is different, it’s cool, I’ve been geeking out on it and I’m really excited to roll out this entire funnel. And the funnel, the upsells, the downsells, and all the stuff and it’s exciting. So those are the details of the Traffic Secrets launch, the launch date starts March 17th, and there’s a 3 week launch where I’ll be promoting it hard, affiliates will be promoting it hard, and we’ll hopefully sell 100,000+ copies of the book, which would be exciting. And that’s kind of the first phase of the launch. And then at the end of that, we’re doing a live event here in Boise, Idaho, a small event with about 200 people or so, hopefully we don’t have to cancel it because of the Coronavirus. Every event is being cancelled right now, it’s crazy. But we’re doing a small event here in Boise where I have 40 of the top traffic speakers in the world coming and each doing a 30 minute presentation on a very tactical way to get traffic. Because the Traffic Secrets book is very strategic, and I want it to be very tactical. So we have 40 speakers each coming and they’re all presenting a tactical thing, on how to get traffic from Pinterest, from Facebook, from LinkedIn, just all different ways, different platforms and different ways to get traffic. So that’s going to be happening at the end of the initial book launch. And then we’re going to be streaming those live online. So hopefully you guys have a chance to watch a lot of those. And each one of those will actually become like an ad. So it’ll be, when you watch it, it will be me introducing the speaker, them speaking, and then me doing a call to action afterwards on the book. And each one will become a presentation, which will become an ad, and you’ll see that kind of behind the scenes as well, happening at the end of the launch. And that happens the first week in April, and then afterwards we move to the social launch. And this is where I basically have a month and a half blocked out where I’m doing a bajillion podcast interviews, Facebook lives, other things, I don’t even know what they’re called, and that’s kind of what’s happening. So that’s kind of behind the scenes of what’s happening on the book launch. A lot of it is for the initial surge of sales, and then the long term social, and then from there, we’ll just get back to normal marketing as usual, where we’re creating tons of ads, buying ads, I’m going to try to test this book on radio and other things. Dean Graziosi and I have been talking about potentially doing an infomercial for it. I think it’s such a universal topic, everybody needs traffic, so I’m excited to get this message about the book out to more people. So that’s what’s  happening with the Traffic Secrets book launch. This is Russell Brunson and we just submitted the Traffic Secrets manuscript. I’m going to tell you that story and a whole bunch more on today’s episode of the Marketing Secrets podcast. Alright everybody, it’s 5:21, and 21 minutes ago we submitted the final, final, final, final manuscript for the Traffic secrets book. The work is finished. I’m not allowed to touch it ever again. And for anyone who’s like, “Cool, I know you’ve been working on it. I thought you submitted the final manuscript a while ago.” I have a problem and the problem is, not perfectionism, but I want to do things right. And I think, I’ve told this story before, but I think this stems back to a conversation I had with my dad when I was like 6 years old. Basically my job was to clean the car, he said, “Go clean the car.” So I went and cleaned the car, came back and said, “Dad, it’s done.” And he’s like, “It’s done?” I’m like, ‘Yeah.” He’s like, I’m like, “Do you want to come see it?” he’s like, ‘Well let me, are you proud of it?” I’m like, “What do you mean?” he’s like, “Are you proud of it?” I’m like, “Um, I don’t know.” He’s like, ‘Well, if you’re proud of it, it’s done.” And I was like, ah crap. I knew that I cut some corners and wasn’t super happy. So I went back in the car, cleaned it way better. Came back and said, “Dad, I’m done.” He said, “Are you proud of it?” I said, “Yeah.” He said, “Okay, then you’re done. You’re fine. You can go.” And that was the lesson that always stuck with me. So I think I have that tendency, it’s not perfectionism, it’s just I want to make sure that what I’m creating, what I’m putting my name on, that it matters, that it’s important, that it’s good. So that’s kind of why, that frame is my mindset. So basically before I went to Fiji I submitted the final manuscript, and I was gone for a week. And then the editor, the publishers get it and they have an editor that goes through everything. So the new editor went through everything, and when I got back from Fiji she said, “Here’s the manuscript, go through some edits and you can accept or reject everything.” So we kind of did that and then as we were going through it, so that was I got home Tuesday night. So Wednesday I came and got the manuscript and I was like, ‘This is good. But I want to read it out loud just to make sure it sounds good out loud as well.” So we put together a makeshift thing, set up a stage at the office, and then all day Thursday, all day Friday I read the book to a group of about ten people and we streamed it to everyone who had tickets to Funnel Hacking Live. The first section I was really proud of. I was like, “Boom, proud of it. Let’s go.” And the second section, I was not proud of it. The content was good, but it was clunky, it was hard to get through, it was boring. I even skipped a section, I was like, ‘I don’t even want to read this anymore. I’m bored.” If I am bored this is not good. And then the third section I loved. The third section I’m super proud of, the second section I wasn’t. And I had this sick feeling last weekend because I’m like, I know what it’s going to take to go and rework this whole thing. And I was like, I can’t do it this weekend because this weekend I gotta prepare for Monday, we had the Clickfunnels birthday announcement. So I didn’t touch this that whole weekend. Sunday night I started working on my presentation, Monday all day I did the presentation, I talked about that. We launched the birthday launch, smashing success, then I came Tuesday and I was like, okay, I gotta rewrite section two of the book, which is not a small section. There’s only three sections in the book, it’s like 121 pages. So I took it and I started writing and I spent all day Tuesday, did that deep into the night. Then Wednesday I went and stayed late, in fact, I didn’t even come home Wednesday. I came home Wednesday at like midnight. Then Thursday, which is last night, went in and worked on it, and I left the office last night at 3:30 in the morning. And I almost had it done, except for a couple of sections. Then this morning I came in, finished the last sections, Joy Anderson on my team, she is going crazy doing editing and cleaning things up and getting the images done, just all the stuff with me. And the last step today, handed the last part to her, she spent all day cleaning it up, and at 5:00 it got submitted. And it’s fun because she just went live on Facebook live, I was watching her video, she was talking about, “Who does that?” Most people are like, ‘I’ve read the book, it’s been edited three times over. But I wanted, I didn’t want this to be a good book, I wanted this to be a great book. I don’t want this to be like, “Oh I read the traffic secrets book.” I want them to be like, “Oh my gosh, I read it and I reference it and I look at it over and over and over again.” I want something that sticks, I wanted something that will last beyond me. So that’s why I put so much time and effort and energy into it. But as of right now it’s done. I’m on about three hours of sleep. I’m taking my kids out, we’re going to go play, have some good times, and then I’m going to crash and sleep for as long as my body will allow me to. I’m kidding, as long as my kids will allow me to. And I’ll be back at it for round two tomorrow morning. Anyway, I just wanted to celebrate with you. It’s excited, it’s been hard work, it’s been a long journey. And I’m just grateful for people like you who listen and who care. It’ makes this work worthwhile and fun to do. It’s interesting, as I was writing the dedication last night, I was looking at the dedications for my other books, and the dedication for the Dotcom Secrets book I talk about my mom and my dad and my wife. The Expert Secrets book I talked about Daegan Smith, I talked about all the experts who have positively changed my life. And then I talked about my kids. So for this book, I was look, who is this book dedicated to? And I don’t have the dedication in front of me, you’ll have to wait for until the book comes out to read it, but it was dedicated to you. It was dedicated to the entrepreneurs I’ve been called to serve, my funnel hackers. And you can read what I wrote there, but the basic gist is that because of you this thing I’m so passionate about has a purpose, because you guys take this stuff and you learn it and you implement it, it has meaning. And you know I think so many people struggle in this world because they don’t have meaning, they don’t have purpose, and I’m just grateful that because of you guys, I have a purpose and I have a reason behind all this stuff, and I’m just grateful. So the third book is dedicated to you, my funnel hackers. And I hope that you love it, and I hope that it helps you. It’s called Traffic Secrets, and it’s all about how to get people into your funnels and get the eyeballs to see what you have, what you’re publishing. But the real power is it’s putting your message for your god-given talents out in front of people. If I can help expose more people to what you have to offer, then all the pain and the stress and the agony over the last 18 months since we started the project, will be worth it. I said that, and I said that if this book helps get one new customer to come to you who’s life you can change through the product and services you’ve been given, then it will be worth it. And my goal, well I’ll tell you my goals later, well, I’ll tell you my goal. We’re going to be doing a big launch for this when it goes live, my goal is to sell, well to put it in context, Dotcom Secrets book during launch sold 20,000, Expert Secrets book was like 70 or 75,000, and this one I want to sell a quarter of a million copies during the launch month, and then a million during the first year. So if I can get a million people this book, each person who gets a book is able to get just one new customer, then that’s a million people’s lives who have been changed because of it. Some of you guys are going to use it to affect thousands or tens of thousands or millions of people’s lives. So anyway, that’s why. If anyone wonders why I keep doing, why I stay up late, why I put in the time and effort and energy, why I didn’t just take the last week and a half and focus on the next project, but instead did three all nighters in a row, back to back to back. It’s because I care. I care about the message, I care about you, I care about the people you’re serving, so I’m going to give it my all. And I hope you all take that same kind of passion with the work, the art, the things you’re creating, things you’re putting out there. Because if you do that, then they will last beyond you. And that’s why we do this right? Anyway, with that said, I am going to go get packed up. We’re heading out to going out of town to play with the kids and then I’m going to pass out. So I’m going to go. When I read this next secret by Russell Brunson, it took me back a second. I guess because he used the word, Sex in the title. It wasn’t until I stepped back a moment and read his secret, that I understood what he was talking about.

Welcome to Marketing Secrets podcast. I am pumped to be here with you guys today. I’m going to tell you guys a little bit about the event that happened last weekend. Alright everybody, so last night we just got back from the Traffic Secrets event. Yes, you heard me right, the Traffic Secrets event. What? Which is really, really exciting. And now I’m actually heading to the dentist. I’ve got a little window. I’m definitely late for the dentist, but that’s what he gets for being a dentist. Just kidding, I like my dentist a lot, he’s a cool guy. But I gotta get my teeth drilled or something, so it’s one of those things. But I just want to tell you guys about last weekend and why we did it and a whole bunch of other stuff. Those who know my journey, know my story over the last few years, know that a long, long, long time ago, like ten years ago I had an idea I wanted to write a book. But I feel like you have to earn a book. It’s not something that’s just given to you, you have to earn it. So I bought the domain name dotcomsecrets.com, because I was like I want to write a book called DotCom Secrets dot com, because I’m going to teach people the secrets of the dot com thing. Anyway, looking back now I probably would have named it something different. But that was the name, and I wanted it to be a book. And then it sat there for like a decade where it wasn’t a book, it was just in my head. And then one day I was out to dinner with my buddy Chad Wolner, and we were at Carl’s Jr eating while we were watching our kids play on the little playground thing. And he said something very profound to me, he said, “Do you know the difference between you and Tony Robbins and Brendan Burchard?” I’m like, “No what?” and he’s like, “I feel like your content’s better, you’re helping more people, you’re doing all this cool stuff, but they seem more legitimate than you because they’ve written more books.” I was like, “What?” At first I wanted to curse him out and then next I’m like, “Crap.” If he’s thinking that, one of my close friends, what is the rest of the world thinking? Alright, if I want to legitimize what I’m doing I need to write a book. And this is about the same time that we’re working on Clickfunnels. So these two projects are happening simultaneously, because that’s the smart way to do it, write a book and launch a software company at the exact same time. So I start the journey, and we start writing the book, and I spent a long, long, long time and I wrote the whole first draft of the book, and after I wrote it I looked at it and I was like, “I’m not proud of it.” And I told this at the Traffic Secrets event, one of the life lessons I got from my dad. I remember one time he asked me to go clean the car, and this is, I was probably about 8 or 9 years old, and I went and cleaned the car and came back, “Dad, okay it’s clean. Can you come out and look at it so I can go out and play?” and he’s like, “Well, are you proud of it?” I’m like, “I don’t know.” And he’s like, “Well, if you’re proud of it, then you’re done.” And I’m like, “Crap.” And I’m like, “I’m probably not proud of it.” So I went back down to the car and I started cleaning and re-cleaned the whole thing, and this time I made sure I was proud of it. I went back up and I’m like, “Okay dad, the car’s done.” And he said the same thing, “Are you proud of it.” And I said, “Yeah.” And he said, “Okay, then you’re done.” He didn’t even come look at it. Life lesson right there. Boom. So fast forward now, twenty years later and I’m reading the manuscript of the book that I’m about to go send to the publisher, and I was like, “I’m not proud of this.” So I decided to just get rid of it. So I got rid of the script and I thought, you know, the problem was, all the stuff was in there and I don’t know, it didn’t make sense, wasn’t in the right order. There was like this chicken and the egg concept, what comes first? They have to know this before they know this, and all these things. So I thought the best way to do this was to actually teach a live event because then I can explain it and see it in people’s eyes, see what makes sense, and see what things are out of context and stuff. So my little coaching program at the time was called Dotcom Secrets Ignite, some of you may have been in that. I said, “Alright guys, everyone come to Boise, we are going to teach this event called Dotcom Secrets.” And I ended up getting about a hundred people to show up to Boise and for three days I taught the concept of the book. And what’s interesting, as I was teaching it I was like, “Oh crap, you need context. This doesn’t make sense. I need to explain this.” So I taught the whole thing, and after I got done I rearranged the outline and changed everything around until it was like, oh, here’s the book. Then I started over and rewrote the book and then boom, we have Dotcom Secrets, which I’m very proud of. So that was the first book and then I was like, “I will never write a book again.” There was so much pain associated. Of all the projects I’d ever done, that was the most amount of work and the least amount of money made from a project. Because books don’t make you a ton of money. They make you good money if you do it right, if you do it through a funnel the way we do. But it wasn’t insane. I’m used to funnels where you launch it and they do a few million dollars out the gate. This one, you know, sold a ton of books, but it wasn’t short term, huge monetary success. But looking back at it now, five years later, it’s been huge monetary success. Because it was the indoctrination piece that got people to understand funnels, which then created the desire and the need for Clickfunnels. Anyway, so I get the book done, and I’m never going to write a book again. And then like a year later I’m at this mastermind meeting, which is actually happening again this weekend, it’s kind of funny. It was Joe Polishes mastermind meeting and I’m going and I get invited to this dinner the night before with a couple of people. So I’m at the dinner, and sitting across from me at the dinner is this guy named Dean Graziosi, some of you guys know Dean. I had been a fan of Dean’s for a long time, we’d met once or twice. He was the dude who was on infomercials for twenty years. I used to watch his infomercials and study him, and write the scripts out because I was a marketing nerd. And just loved what he was doing. So I’m sitting across from him and we’re talking and having all these conversations. And in the middle of this conversation about something completely different, I had this realization that was like, “You need to write a book and it’s going to be called Expert Secrets and somehow Dean’s going to help you. I’m not sure if it’s going to be an infomercial or something. But you need to write this book.” I’m like, oh crap. I don’t want to write a book. But I had bought that domain two or three years earlier, so I remember I went to bed that night and Dave Woodward was staying with me and I was just like, “I’m writing another book.” And he’s like, “What?” and we start talking about it and he’s freaking out, we’re freaking out.  And so that started the journey. So guess what I did? I wrote an entire copy of the book, I was so excited. That was this time of the year, right now we’re in October. So then fast forward to the next summer, so it means I had spent six months writing this book. So that summer, I think it was June or July, I was at my family reunion and I was supposed to be going through the final edits of the draft to be able to send to my publisher. So I’m reading the drafts and as I’m reading it, I’m like two or three pages in and I had the same realization, “I’m not proud of this.” And I was like, no, I spent too much time on this. So I was like, it’s not right. And back then I was snapchatting, so I got on Snapchat Live and I said, “everyone, I’ve been writing this book for the last six or seven months, and I’m not proud of it.” So I highlighted the entire book, live on Snapchat, then deleted it and resaved the file, so it was gone, gone. It was the only copy I had. And I was like, “It’s gone.” And everyone was freaking out. I got people messaging me like, “No, Russell. I will pay you a thousand dollars to read that manuscript.” And I’m like, “No, it’s gone forever. I’m not proud of it. I don’t want it leaking out to the interwebs and people would be like, ‘oh that’s Russell’s book.” So I decided after that, I was like, “I need to do an event like last time.” So I called up my now, mini-inner circle at the time and said, “you guys, we’re doing an event in Boise next month. Boom, come to this event.” And I didn’t know where I was going to go, but I just knew that the event had a schedule, therefore I must figure out how to teach this concept in a really short period of time. And at the same time I was going to Kenya, so we’re flying to Kenya. On the flight to Kenya, on the gravel roads in Kenya and on the flight home from Kenya I am reading, mapping out, studying, planning, plotting, scheming, building out the framework for this book. And if you’ve read my books you know I doodle out every concept. So I’m doodling every single concept, putting them in chronological order, trying to get it the best I can. I land in Boise, coming home from Kenya, our flight got delayed by 36 hours, so it was a day late getting home, and my event was the next day. So I land, go to bed, wake up in the morning and I go to this event to teach the concepts again. I teach the Expert Secrets concepts over two days, and what’s fun, the same thing. I’m teaching stuff and some things make total sense to people, other things they get stuck and I have to reteach it, and redo the framework and I’m trying…. I remember one concept that I thought was going to take 10-15 minutes to explain, we ended up spending 3 hours on it in the group because we figure it out and how to make it simple and simplify it. Anyway, when that was done, then I took the outline and retweaked it and boom, I went back to writing and I wrote the Expert Secrets book. So there’s pass number two. So this time, and again I was like, “I will never write a book. I forgot how painful writing books are, and this was horrible. I’ll never write a book.” And literally, in the middle of the Expert Secrets launch, day two or day three, I get a message from John Reese who said, “Hey, would you be interested in buying Traffic Secrets from me?” And I was like, oh my gosh. This could be the trilogy. I could get a hardbound trilogy box set. I was like, this would be the greatest thing in the world. Dotcom Secrets, Expert Secrets, Traffic Secrets, and then my podcast, which you see is Marketing Secrets, and Marketing Secrets is like the daily what’s happening in the world right now, thoughts on top of the conscious mind. And the other books are like the foundational cornerstones, that are the evergreen pieces that never change. And I was just like, “I have to buy this.” And emotionally I bought it, which means you spend a lot more money than you should. But I knew that that was book number three. So now fast forward, we’re a year and a half past the Expert Secrets launching. It sold hundreds of thousands of copies, it’s changed a lot of people’s lives and it’s helped people’s funnels grow, which is really, really good. And now I’m sitting  here and trying to figure out this third book. And I was like, “should I start writing?”  and I’m like, “No, I must do an event first.” So I called up all my Inner Circle and Two Comma Club X members and said, “You know what, I’m going to offer something I wasn’t doing before and we’re doing an event and it’s going to be amazing.” So the next thing we know, now we’re in…. Sorry my car is super loud, and I’m super late for the dentist. So next thing we know, I’m in Arizona and for two day we’re teaching the Traffic Secrets book. And it was fun, it was the same concept. Monday I came in and started doodling it out, had the framework, the doodles the things. I spent Monday, Tuesday and all day Wednesday doodling, sketching, putting together a process, putting together a framework, and then Thursday morning stepped onstage and started teaching the Traffic Secrets book. And I taught it Thursday and taught it Friday and yeah, it turned out good. And now I know what shifts and changes and things I need to move around. And now the writing process begins, but it was really, really cool. So I wanted to share with you guys because that is my process. I know a lot of you guys are struggling, how do you teach content? How do you write books? How do you blah, blah, blah? And for me it’s all aobut like, first off I basically gotta write an outline, here’s an outline of what I’m going to create. Number two is I build the framework, for me the frameworks are these doodles. So I doodle out here’s the framework of what I’m trying to teach, the conceptual thing. And then for me now, what I’ve found, the shortcut is get a bunch of people in a room and teach it. And if you teach it, it’s cool because people sitting in a room don’t have context. So it’s like if you explain something and they’re like, “I have no idea what you’re talking about, you’re like, “Oh my gosh, I need to explain that earlier in the book or it’s not going to make sense.” So that’s kind of how I do my process. So I’m going to do another episode in the near future about frameworks, because Steven Larsen and I were talking about, he’s like, ‘The thing you’re the best at is building out frameworks. You’re like the framework king. Everyone needs to become framework kings because when you have the framework it’s easy to teach off. But how do you actually build the framework?” You know my process has been going back twenty, forty, fifty years in the past, learning from the best direct response marketers of all time, figuring out what the frameworks are, bringing them to modern day, and then creating frameworks now all of us can go and use in our world, in our businesses, and things like that. So anyway, it’s just kind of interesting, so I wanted to share that with you guys and hopefully give you some ideas. For those who are stressed out, “Russell can write a book because he’s Russell.” It’s like, no Russell struggles writing books more than anybody. So what he does is this process and how it works. Anyway, I hope that helps. With that said, you guys, I’m almost to the dentist. I’m going to bounce. Thank you so much for listening and I hope you guys are getting excited for the third book. Laura Wolfe is back as my guest with her new book a children's horse book - Henrietta's Hoof Polish. Henrietta will do almost anything to fit in with the fancy horses next door. But when her plan to be discovered at the annual Blue Ribbon Horse Show does not work out as intended, Henrietta realizes that the grass may be the greenest in her own pasture. Suggested age range for readers: 3-8 Laura Wolfe is also the proud Finalist in the 2016 Indie Next Generation Indie Book Awards—First Novel category. Her picture book, Henrietta's Hoof Polish, was published in 2016 by Guardian Angel Publishing. Laura is a lover of animals and nature. When she is not writing, she can be found playing games with her highly-energetic kids, riding horses, growing vegetables in her garden, or spoiling her rescue dog. She lives in her home state of Michigan with her husband, son, and daughter. Laura's YA mystery, Trail of Secrets (Book 1, Dark Horse Series) (Fire and Ice, 2015), was named as a Finalist in the 2016 Next Generation Indie Book Awards—First Novel category.  Laura holds a BA in English from the University of Michigan and a JD from DePaul University. She is an active member of multiple writing groups, including Sisters in Crime, International Thriller Writers, and the SCBWI.
