I've been waiting a long time to release this one. Dr. Tyna Moore is someone I've wanted to bring on the show because her take on GLP-1s like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Tirzepatide is so refreshingly honest and grounded in both science and clinical experience. There's so much confusion, fear, and flat-out propaganda around these peptides, and today, we clear the air. We talk about how GLP-1 agonists work not just as weight-loss drugs but as powerful regenerative and neuroprotective tools. Yes, they help you stop obsessively thinking about food. Yes, they can dramatically help with insulin resistance. But the real story? These peptides might help heal your metabolism for good. Tyna doesn't hold back. We unpack the massive industry bias against these drugs, the obesity stigma nobody wants to talk about, and the misinformation that's keeping people sick, scared, and stuck. If you've ever wondered whether peptides are a shortcut or a real solution, this episode lays it all out. And if you're using these tools without lifting weights, optimizing sleep, eating real food, and managing your circadian rhythm? You're setting yourself up for muscle loss and disappointment. GLP-1s are not a miracle. They're a tool. But if you use them the right way, they just might change your life. "I think there's magic in time under treatment with this peptide. I think the longer somebody's on it, the more long-term healing and regenerative benefits we ultimately get." ~ Dr. Tyna Moore In This Episode: - GLP-1s explained: Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro - Benefits beyond weight loss: cardiovascular, neurological, regenerative - Why the pushback against Ozempic? - Muscle loss myths - Addressing other common myths and side effects - The emotional side of weight loss - The metabolic dysfunction epidemic and why it starts early - Proper GLP-1 dosing strategies: "low and slow" approach - Dr. Tyna's free resources and education courses For more, visit https://myersdetox.com Heavy Metals Quiz: Find out your toxicity score and receive a free video series on detoxification at https://heavymetalsquiz.com Resources Mentioned: Puori PW1 Protein Powder: Get 20% off with code WENDY at https://puori.com/wendy Tru Energy Skincare: Get a special deal at https://trytruenergy.com/wendy Organifi Collagen: Save 20% with code MYERSDETOX at https://organifi.com/myersdetox Fresh Pressed Olive Oil: Get a $39 bottle for just $1 to cover shipping at https://getfreshwendy.com About Dr. Tyna Moore: Dr. Tyna Moore is an expert in holistic regenerative medicine and resilient metabolic health with nearly 30 years in the medical field. EP. 211: In this episode, I'm sitting down with UK-based women's health practitioner Adele Winslett to talk about the intersection of ADHD, neurodivergence, and the hormonal rollercoaster of perimenopause. It's a raw, honest conversation about what happens when estrogen dips and the brain fog sets in and why you're absolutely not alone. We also explore how midlife can unmask long-standing ADHD and neurodivergent traits that were once manageable and how this shift can feel both disorienting and illuminating. If you've been silently struggling or questioning what's going on with your mind and body, this episode is a powerful reminder that there's clarity and support on the other side. Topics Discussed: Can perimenopause make ADHD symptoms worse? What are the signs of ADHD in women over 40? How does estrogen affect brain function and focus? Is brain fog during menopause linked to neurodivergence? I brushed this off like every other “Nature's GLP1” claim flooding my inbox. But once I sat down, looked at the clinical data and tried it myself, I changed my mind. In this episode, I talk with Sarah Kennedy, the CEO powerhouse behind Calocurb, a science-backed bitter hops extract shown to stimulate GLP-1, CCK, and PYY naturally. We break down the clinical trials, how it works through the gut-brain axis, and why it might be one of the most overlooked tools for appetite control, metabolic resilience, and post-GLP-1 recovery. This isn't another trendy “natural” supplement. It's clinically studied, gut-activated, and worth your attention. EP. 207: A new study on tirzepatide just dropped, and some obesity experts claim it confirms that the drug works only by reducing calories. After reading the full paper myself, I've got a different take. In this episode, I unpack what the study actually shows—like how tirzepatide increases fat oxidation without impacting metabolic adaptation—and why the “calories in, calories out” story doesn't tell the whole truth. There's more going on here, and you deserve the full picture. Topics Covered: Does tirzepatide help with metabolic health beyond calorie restriction leading to weight loss? How does it affect metabolic adaptation in people with obesity? Can it boost fat oxidation? Is the “calories in, calories out” model outdated for GLP-1s? Because any functional medicine doctor worth their salt does NOT take insurance, and the costs go way beyond the consult. Labs, supplements, and treatments like peptides can add up fast, so you need to know what you're signing up for and you need to come in as prepared as possible. More importantly, you need to take ownership of your health. No doctor—functional or otherwise—can do the work for you. If you're not ready to lift weights, fix your metabolic health, and make real lifestyle changes, functional medicine won't save you. Before you invest your time and money, tune in and get equipped with the right tools to get the most out of functional medicine. The rise in obesity and chronic disease over the years is alarming. Rather than genetics, it can be attributed to environmental and dietary changes, emphasizing the role of food quality over quantity. And while GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic may show some promise in addressing metabolic dysfunction, concerns about long-term effects, muscle loss, and cost highlight the need for a more nuanced approach. Ultimately, a holistic strategy that includes diet, lifestyle, and personalized interventions is essential for sustainable health improvements. In this episode I discuss, along with Dr. Tyna Moore and Calley Means, the complexity of obesity, moving beyond the simplistic "calories in, calories out" model to focus on factors like insulin resistance, ultra-processed foods, and metabolic dysfunction. With nearly three decades experience in the medical world, Dr Tyna Moore is a leading expert in holistic regenerative medicine and resilient, metabolic health. Traditionally and alternatively trained in science and medicine as both a Naturopathic Physician and Chiropractor, she brings a unique perspective to those wishing to build a more robust foundation in their health and well-being. She is a podcast host, author, speaker, kettlebell devotee and mother. She is a fierce advocate for health autonomy and personal responsibility, which she helps others improve through her many offerings at drtyna.com and on her podcast, The Dr Tyna Show. Her true passion is coaching healthcare practitioners to utilize social media and build the online business of their dreams so they aren't shackled by illegal mandates and can enjoy more time, money and autonomy. Calley Means is the founder of TrueMed, a company that enables tax-free spending on food and exercise. He is also the co-author with his sister, Dr. Casey Means, ofGood Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health, and is now available for pre-order.Earlier in his career, Calley was a consultant for food and pharma companies and is now exposing practices they use to weaponize our institutions of trust. In the past year, he's met with 50 members of Congress and presidential candidates advocating policies to combat the corruption of the pharma and food industries. He is a graduate of Stanford and Harvard Business School. Full length episodes can be found here: Can Ozempic Fix Our Obesity Crisis Ozempic: A Weight-Loss Miracle of Metabolic Menace? I'm joined by the insightful Dr. Tyna Moore as we explore the nuanced world of GLP1's. This conversation sheds light on how precise, small doses of GLP1, significantly less than the standard starting doses, can enhance not just weight management but also address neuroinflammation, chronic pain, and autoimmune disorders. Dr. Tyna breaks down her decades-long clinical experience, sharing how personalized dosing of GLP1 can support an overall healthier lifestyle, improve metabolism, and even contribute to muscle gain without the commonly feared side effects. This episode challenges preconceived notions about GLP1 usage, proposing it as a multifaceted tool for improving health outcomes when used correctly. We dive into the broader scope of metabolic health, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach that includes hormonal balance, diet, and exercise. Dr. Tyna provides an in-depth understanding of how proper GLP1 dosing can integrate into this holistic strategy, offering significant benefits for those dealing with issues like insulin resistance, inflammation, and mood disorders. Additionally, we tackle some of the myths surrounding GLP1's, such as cancer risks, providing clarity through data-driven insights. This episode is packed with valuable information for both health practitioners and anyone interested in optimizing their health through innovative approaches with GLP1's. Join us for an engaging discussion that offers practical wisdom and new perspectives on achieving wellness. EPISODE KEY INSIGHTS: Dosing GLPs can prevent muscle loss and enhance metabolism, according to Dr. Tyna Moore. Personalized low dosing strategies are recommended for neuroinflammatory and autoimmune conditions. The metabolically optimized should approach GLP's as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Middle-aged women, particularly, should ensure holistic health to benefit from GLP's effectively. GLP's have shown promise in enhancing mood by reducing neuroinflammation and gut issues. There is a call for pharmaceutical companies to offer more varied and lower dosing options. GLP1's might reduce cancer risk by improving insulin signaling and reducing glucose-dependent tumor growth. Potential receptor resistance and catabolic effects are risks at high doses of GLP's. Personalized dosing of GLP's can address deficiencies and facilitate significant health improvements. Use of GLP's in obese children should be considered within comprehensive health strategies Connect with Dr. Tyna Moore: "If you're intrigued by what you've heard and you want to dive deeper into GLP's...jump in to Dr Tyna's GLP Done Right University. Like most things in life, when it comes to optimizing metabolic health, a nuanced perspective can help. Rather than viewing it as a black-and-white issue, we can take into consideration the big-picture social context we're facing that encourages ultra-processed foods, obesity, and lifelong medication as well as the micro-level of what people are experiencing as individuals and understanding how to help them when all else fails. Today I'm thrilled to sit down with Dr. Tyna Moore and Calley Means for a grounded discussion that explores both sides of the spectrum, and everything in between. In this episode, we discuss: The controversial discussion of GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic, weighing the pros and cons of these new drugs in treating obesity and metabolic crises (3:34) Challenging the notion of treating obesity with drugs like Ozempic (10:35) An unsettling revelation about the push for using Ozempic in children (12:04) Digging deeper into GLP-1 research and some of the benefits (32:51) Why are children being born metabolically challenged? (41:11) Dr. Moore's approach to using peptides with her patients and for her own crippling pain, and what they've seen (45:19) How our current healthcare system lacks policies and support for behavior change (1:27) While there are always differing views, we know for sure that our food and drug policies aren't serving the best interests of creating sustainable, empowered health for the masses. What's up Bros? We have a new show on Bravo and it is Sold on SLC. In this show, we dive into the real estate world of Salt Lake City via Presidio. Run by Jennifer Yeo, its a firm dealing with big houses, fancy properties and they have a team to match it. In this first episode, we do some intros to get to know everyone. It seems like Matt will take a center stage this season as last years top salesmen, and this year having zero net sales, he is struggling to be the sole provider for his family. Lisa Barlow makes an appearance with Sarah, an agent at Presidio, whose husband owns a competing real estate firm. Tyna, another presidio agent, has some beef with Matt, because apparently Matt was spreading rumors that she doesn't believe in god. While we appreciate some drama in our shows (obviously) we felt like this first episode was rushed. We need to get to know people more before we start diving into the drama because we currently don't have any investment in this cast yet. We meet Malaysia, who had previously worked for Presidio and now has found her way back. Tyna's back story is very interesting as well, as a former LDS church member, she speaks about how being one of, if not the only, black, lesbian woman in a community full of LDS members. Jennifer comes in hot as the centerpiece for this show and we appreciate what she is trying to do, it just feels like a lot of episode 1 was forced. We hope they hit their stride and it becomes a little more organic, but we also are aware of early season blues as a show gets up and running. All over the Internet, you hear about the risks of using GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Victoza—such as muscle loss, depression, pancreatitis, nausea, vomiting, digestive distress, appetite suppression, and headaches. …but it turns out there's a lot more to the story, including potential systemwide benefits that go far beyond appetite control and weight loss, and fewer side effects than the fearmongering suggests (which I myself have been guilty of!). The effects of my experiment with GLP-1 agonist semaglutide, how dosage impacts appetite and metabolism, and the importance of individualized strategies for balancing appetite control, blood sugar, and sleep quality…05:54 The cautious use of GLP-1 agonists, their powerful effects on appetite and cognitive health, and the importance of personalized dosing for cognitive and neuroprotective benefits…12:26 How GLP-1 agonists can help brain health and diabetes by improving metabolism, the importance of careful dosing, and why personalized approaches based on individual health needs are the key…18:13 How GLP-1 drugs can support health beyond just weight loss by mimicking natural GLP-1, the potential to restore L-cell function through lifestyle changes, and the importance of individualized, low-dose strategies to avoid side effects…27:04 GLP-1 agonist side effects, from nausea to more serious concerns like gastroparesis, and how careful, individualized dosing and digestive support can minimize risks while still providing therapeutic benefits…38:12 The nuanced risks of GLP-1 drugs, why appetite suppression may dampen life's pleasures, and the importance of addressing mental health, coping mechanisms, and individualized screening to prevent unintended emotional side effects…45:32 The complex effects of GLP-1 drugs on muscle and tissue health, the risks of improper dosing, and the role of patient compliance with strength training and protein intake to protect muscle mass and maintain metabolic health…50:49 The rising impact of GLP-1 drugs on industries from food to healthcare, the economic shifts as companies adapt to consumer health trends, and the critical need for medical guidance and safe sourcing…57:48 Full show notes: https://bengreenfieldlife.com/glppodcast Episode Sponsors: Our Place: Go to fromourplace.com and enter my code BEN at checkout to receive 10% off sitewide. I've been asked many times about my thoughts on bioidentical hormone replacement. While I've covered this extensively in past podcasts, I wanted to share why I've been on bioidentical hormones since my 30s and provide some key insights I've shared with my patients. There's a lot of confusion out there, and I want to help you make an informed decision. The bottom line, the data shows that the sooner you start, pending actual NEED, the better. The data shows that hormone replacement therapy is best as a preventative, not a cure-all to clean up the mess later.
