The discussion also touches on the key players of the 1964 Browns, including the legendary Jim Brown, who delivered a stellar performance, along with Gary Collins, whose clutch catches helped secure the championship. Listeners are invited to appreciate the historical significance of this victory, which remains etched in the memories of Browns fans and serves as a beacon of hope for the franchise.Diving deeper into the roots of football history, Smelter emphasizes the importance of documenting and sharing these stories with new generations of fans. Martin Turenne, President and CEO of FPX Nickel (FPX-TSX.V & OTCQB:FPOCF) joins me to discuss the recent production of battery-grade nickel sulphate, from the pilot-scale hydrometallurgy refinery testwork at the Baptist Nickel Project in central BC. This is an upgrade from the 2023 bench-scale testwork. We discuss the flow sheet for production, which eliminates the smelting stage, thus creating a higher value end product and cutting out a middle man smelting company. I ask how this production factors into the capital estimates to build the project and potential value premiums. We wrap up by looking ahead to the upcoming scoping study expected in the first quarter of next year and how that further de-risks the project. If you have any follow up questions for Martin please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Click here to visit the FPX Nickel website and learn more about the Company and Project.

A deal's been made with New Zealand's Aluminium Smelter to keep the smelter at Tiwai operating for the next 20 years. The agreement includes a significant demand response deal to make more electricity available for the country when it may be required during times of high demand. It also has commitments for the environmental remediation of the smelter site. Invercargill Mayor Nobby Clark told Kerre Woodham that this is outstanding news for the region. He said that there was a nervousness as to how much power Tiwai needs and where that power could be diverted to other industries, but it seems as though power companies are able to deal with both. It's outstanding, Clark said, as they have other industries wanting to make their way into Invercargill. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This audio is brought to you by Wearcheck, your condition monitoring specialist. Pending an improved price and cost environment, Glencore said in its first-quarter 2024 production report on Tuesday that its Rustenburg ferrochrome smelter in South Africa's North West province would remain idled. The London- and Johannesburg-listed diversified mining and marketing company reported 26% lower attributable first quarter ferrochrome production of 297 000 t amid the European benchmark ferrochrome price for the second quarter of this year settling at $1.52/lb, 5.6% up on the first three months of 2024. Ferrochrome is a prime ingredient of stainless steel and most of the ferrochrome produced in South Africa is consumed by China, which is the world's biggest producer of stainless steel. Coal production of 26.6-million tonnes was broadly in line with the third quarter of last year, with Glencore CEO Gary Nagle reporting unchanged overall full-year production guidance from that presented at the beginning of this year. South African thermal coal production of four-million tonnes was in line with that of the first three months of last year, while Australian coal output was 3%-higher at 15.9-million tonnes. First-quarter copper and zinc production was broadly in line with the first quarter of 2023, while nickel increased 14%, reflecting recovery from the Raglan strike impacts in the base period. Lower year-on-year cobalt reflected the previously announced market-related production adjustments in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Glencore expects full-year marketing-adjusted earnings before interest and taxes to be in the $3-billion to $3.5-billion range. Glencore's own sourced copper production of 239 700 t was 2% above that of the first quarter of last year on a like-for-like basis. The company's own sourced cobalt production of 6 600 t was 3 900 t lower than that of the corresponding period last year on mainly planned lower run-rates at Mutanda Mining in the current weak cobalt pricing environment and mill downtime at Kamoto Copper Company, which are both located in the DRC. Overall zinc production of 205 600 t was in line, while own sourced zinc production was 6% higher at 10 600 t. Own sourced nickel production was 14% higher at 23 800 t.

Nickel smelter air pollution, and the cost on the economy and public health, is the focus of substantive research in a new 100-page report from Crea and Celios. Crea analyst Katherine Hassan discusses the findings, methodology, and implications -- including the possibility of much of Eastern Indonesia eventually becoming a highly polluted and impoverished zone. At issue is whether regulatory enforcement will address options for cleaner nickel processing technology, smokestack scrubbing and deployment of renewable energy. Given the unmatched attributes of Indonesia's nickel resources and the imperative for transitioning to EV fleets worldwide, nickel‑industry externalities take on global significance. This audio is brought to you by Wearcheck, your condition monitoring specialist Work has begun on the development of a hydrogen plant at the smelting site in Rustenburg of Ironveld, the London Aim-listed speciality metals producer. The required funds have been raised to proceed with the manufacture and installation of a commercial demonstration plant that will produce hydrogen from compressed natural gas for green steel reforming at the smelter, BurnStar Technologies stated in a media release on November 1. Full operational readiness of the five kilograms an hour turquoise hydrogen plant is anticipated by the end of the first quarter of next year. BurnStar intends using the Ironveld demonstration as a springboard into the commercial clean hydrogen supply market. "We've already started on development of a five ton per day unit and will soon be able to incorporate the learnings from commencing this first commercial operation early next year," BurnStar CEO Dr Johan Brand highlighted. This follows Mining Weekly reporting in April that Ironveld Energy had signed a hydrogen agreement with BurnStar to facilitate the production of green metals in South Africa. Ironveld's smelting division processes the group's magnetite ore into high-purity iron, vanadium slag and titanium slag. Backed by South African venture capital and incubator fund Savant, BurnStar has reached agreement with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions provider Turnkey Modular for the EPC of the first commercial Guilt-Free HydrogenTM catalytic molten metal reforming plant. Funding from Johannesburg- and New York-listed platinum group metals and gold mining company Sibanye-Stillwater has also been secured, the release stated. "This process uses eight times less energy than electrolysis and only 4 kg of methane is required to produce 1 kg of hydrogen," said Brand. Once the BurnStar plant begins producing, Ironveld plans to evaluate hydrogen's use as a green reducing agent in the Rustenburg smelter's high-purity steel production process.

Today's Destination : Durango Part 1 Today's Mistake- Toll Booth mishap Travel Advice: Tell a joke to someone you meet In this episode: FAQ What is the best way to test out van life for me? My friend Victoria is testing out vans for a possible retirement. Answer: If you want to retire and live in a van, I encourage you to practice with some friends who already do this kind of travel. Ask them to set you up with a trip and help you navigate the way to become a van life person. You need to tell them about your experience if you have any, or not. Be frank and clear on your expectations and your needs. Then when it comes to getting the van, they will be on board, and you will be able to learn from them what this takes. It's about the experience. You will find several reasons to go and others NOT to join the van life experience, but you'll never know if you like it until you try it out yourself. The show notes have a link to the not so pretty side of van life. This person would rather stay in a fancy hotel, so be warned.
