I then spend a lot of time discussing tariffs and acknowledging the short-term pain in favor of the much larger long-term gain. We hear from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and from a self-described Leftist in Batya Ungar-Sargon. We then cut to a Democrat presser trying to throw the Education Secretary under the bus. However, Secretary McMahon comes outside to watch and is literally asked to steal the Democrats presser. The filthy piece of human debris asked a member of the USDA committee on nutrition guidelines if changing diet will lead to weight loss. Incredibly, the answer they give is genetics. Department of Education: Trump announced plans to shut down the Department of Education, criticizing its performance and advocating for education to be managed by individual states. He emphasized that this move would not disrupt public schooling but would allow states to tailor education to their needs. The speech highlighted poor performance rankings of the U.S. in education compared to other countries and suggested that states could manage education more effectively. Trump is a strong advocate for school choice, allowing parents to choose the best educational options for their children. The order directs the Education Secretary to facilitate the closure of the Department of Education and ensure that remaining funds do not support DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) or gender ideology programs. Economic Measures: We mention a significant drop in egg prices, attributed to efforts by the Trump administration to combat avian influenza and manage agricultural issues. Gasoline prices have also decreased, with the administration promoting domestic drilling to reduce dependence on foreign oil. Golden Visa Program: Trump proposed a "Golden Visa" program, where foreign investors could obtain U.S. residency by investing $5 million. He argued that this would bring substantial revenue to the U.S. and attract job creators. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. The Department of Education announced Tuesday it would lay off around 1,300 employees, or about half of its workforce. In a statement, Education Secretary Linda McMahon called the job cuts part of the agency's 'final mission,' and a 'significant step toward restoring the greatness of the United States education system.' While President Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to shutter the Education Department, McMahon said during her confirmation hearings last month that she wouldn't do so without Congress's approval. The layoffs could signify the administration's intent to gut the agency from within. John King, who served as Education Secretary under former President Barack Obama, talks about how the cuts will almost certainly hurt students. Later in the show, Brian Sumers, who writes 'The Airline Observer' newsletter on Substack, explains why Southwest Airlines is nixing its popular free bag check policy. And in headlines: House Republicans and one Democrat passed a spending plan to avert a government shutdown, Trump administration officials said they would immediately lift a pause on military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, and President Trump weighed in on the fate of a Columbia University grad student who's facing deportation for organizing pro-Palestine protests on campus.Show Notes:Check out Brian's Substack – www.theairlineobserver.com/Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8Support victims of the fire – votesaveamerica.com/reliefWhat A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

Tesla shares have lost 50% of their value ($800B in market cap) since their peak in December, dropping 15% in Monday's trading session alone. Tesla comprises 32% of one of his funds, and Baron explains his persistent optimism. Tesla isn't the only stock under pressure; the Dow dropped 900 points on Monday, and the Nasdaq suffered its worst day since 2022. Plus, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon explains why, as a bureaucrat, she believes bureaucracy hurts more than helps education outcomes. Sec. Joy Reid leads this episode of The ReidOut with what she sees as the latest signs of the gangster-like governance of the current U.S. administration. The Department of Justice, under Donald Trump, has dismissed the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams in a way that keeps him vulnerable to future prosecution, while former WWE CEO Vince McMahon has seen a criminal probe into allegations of sexual misconduct dropped. Coincidentally, McMahon's wife, Linda, is Trump's nominee for Education Secretary, and her confirmation is expected to sail through. Meanwhile, reports are emerging of missing federal funds, and the first death has been attributed to the dismantling of USAID, with a 71-year-old refugee in Myanmar dying after her oxygen supply was cut due to hospital closures caused by the withdrawal of U.S. foreign aid. Plus, protests are growing at home, with an artist in D.C. unfurling a sign alleging that, "Elon is stealing your data," coinciding with Tesla's stock dropping 13% since Trump's inauguration.
