Guess who had a hearing, a small win and is feeling pretty good about himself? Guess again, because it is not the show's resident counsel, but in fact the illustrated man has had words, not pictures, and tells the tale. We have found more words about the AFL Meat Market, the AFLW problem, the Spring Racing Carnival and of course the dearly departed in The Deathalyser. Musically it is underrated Aussie songs and some rippers get unearthed to enjoy their deserved moment in the sunshine. You may hear Mental as Anything, Goanna, TISM, The Easybeats and Hush in glowing terms or will it be William Shakespeare, Pussyfoot, Joe Dolce or Warwick Capper that rises like a mushroom through the fluent and effluent babble of the boys? The feathers fly in this episode. Finey is tweeting? But about real birds, not a social media platform, and his Magpies aren't named Daicos. We have gone from footy season to swooping season but still find time for a few thoughts on the Rugby League Grand Final. Stephen J Peak and Kev take time out from their busy schedule of plover swoops and studying the Spring Racing Carnival form to ask and answer some questions re the ridiculous world of footy contracts. Since leaving Telstra to take on a wide-ranging c-suite role at Tabcorp – spanning product, data and data science, customer experience and personalisation, brand, marketing and sponsorship with revenue responsibility – Chief Customer Officer Jenni Barnett has hit the turf running. The betting firm was haemorrhaging customers to digitally-savvier, free-spending rivals like Sportsbet and Ladbrokes. One year in, she's stemmed the flow after launching a new app and migrating nearly a million customers within months to make the Spring Racing Carnival, driving ten updates since and KPI-ing the whole firm on digital revenue share. Customer experience is the key battleground per Barnett – and she's front-running regulation and pulling Tabcorp out of daytime TV. To reel-in rivals she's undertaken a sweeping overhaul of the marketing, digital, data and product teams and their capabilities – and pushed talent to develop quickly. In 1893, John Wren, unemployed and from a poor family, set up the Collingwood Tote, an illegal betting shop that would achieve mythical status, depending on who you asked, as either a den of vice ruining the lives of many or as a symbol of the working class fighting back against discriminatory laws. In its twenty years of operating, the police attempted to raid the tote so many times and failed to the point they gave up completely. Instead, the establishment banned Wren's horses from racing in the Spring Racing Carnival. In response, Wren set up multiple alternative racecourses and significantly hurt their finances. Titus O'Reily and Mick Molloy look at the rise of John Wren, a man who took on the establishment and built up a sporting empire that crossed horse racing, cycling and boxing. Jamie Kah was absolutely flying. Heading into the 2021 Spring Racing Carnival, the South Australian was the world's top-ranked female jockey and had recently become the first jockey to ride 100 winners in a Melbourne Metropolitan racing season. Then it all came to a grinding halt. This is the first time Jamie has spoken publicly since she was very publicly suspended from racing because of a covid breach during Victoria's lockdown in September 2021. We all make mistakes and Jamie owns hers. But as you will hear, she is so much more than a tabloid headline. One of the most dedicated athletes in the country, this is the story of a woman who has turned a lifelong love of horses into an immensely successful career. In todays episode I'm going to talk to you about a form of marketing that gets a 4 times better return on investment than social media marketing…and virtually NO practitioners are doing it. More about that shortly… At the moment here in Melbourne Australia we're just finishing the Spring Racing Carnival. It's one of the largest horse racing carnivals in the world. The entire spring racing carnival reminds me of a story/metaphor that my old coach James Schramko used to share. He'd say if you want to make money on horse racing there's only one guaranteed way to do it. When you're betting on the horses you sometimes win and sometimes lose. When you own the race horse your sometimes win and sometimes lose. When you're the betting agency you sometimes win and sometimes lose The only person who wins all the time is the person who owns the racecourse. When James was telling this story what he was referring to was the importance of us owning the relationships with our customers. Over the past decade we've seen the rise and fall of many social media platforms. However things are changing and the ability for us to effortless use the social media as a marketing platform is starting to decline for 2 main reasons. Competition, advertising on social media is becoming more and more common place and as more people want to do it the competition goes up and so to does the price Censorship and pressure from the social media platforms particularly around what we can say as health professionals. So what should you do? Diversification is one of the solutions. One of the most under utilised, cost effective and easy to implement marketing strategies is email marketing. This episode will be the first in a series of podcasts we are going to go to school on how you can implement a heart centred email marketing strategy into your practice. Listen now. Thanks for all you do, keep saving lives Angus See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Apparently one in four Aussies don’t know their neighbours. Which sometimes can be a good thing, as Erin’s sister discovered when her elderly neighbour decided to use her kitchen…luckily it was for good. Tom also wished he didn’t know his neighbours when he basically ended up as their handyman.Steve Butler called through again today to make sure the guys were enjoying themselves in the studio here in Perth while he was living the life in Melbourne for the Spring Racing Carnival. Oaks Day today and he’s checking out all the celebrities in the birdcage.Greg Hire dropped by ahead of the Wildcats home game against Brisbane on Friday, and in amongst the very small amount of basketball chat there was a discovery about Nathan’s melted pinwheel. And a couple of new shows hit the small screen tonight – Nazeem Hussain called in to plug ‘Orange is the New Brown’ on Seven, and Pete Helliar and Lisa McCune are explaining ‘How to Stay Married ‘ on Channel Ten. Both great shows with some very funny stars. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
