We're all more than familiar with the Speedmasters, Submariners, and Royal Oaks of this world. We're even familiar with the Ingenieurs, Reversos, and Andy Warhols. But many watches in top brands' catalogs are painfully overlooked. On today's episode of Fratello Talks, we're taking a look at a handful of them. You might not hear about these watches every day, but we believe they deserve more credit than they get. Of course, these will just be some of the many underappreciated watches out there, so if we missed one of your favorites, be sure to let us know.

A Rolex 16610—one of the most underrated Subs out there. And it hit me... we've NEVER reviewed this era on the channel. Until now.
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Garrett Jones and Devin Pennypacker to talk about one of our favorite subjects: under the radar watches. We all know about the usual suspects: your Submariners, your Speedmasters, your Seiko divers, and so on. But there's a whole world of watches out there to be discovered, and the team is here to help you find some that are bubbling just beneath the surface. Our panel discusses how we define an “under the radar” watch in the first place, and then provides a whole bunch of recommendations across a variety of categories. Just to make things interesting, we set a limit of $1,500 per watch in an effort to prove you don't have to spend a lot of money to find something interesting, unusual, and rewarding. To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast on all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, and more. Do you want to work with us on a timepiece? email us support@chriswarnes.comI'm not a financial advisor, and I don't have a crystal ball—so take this as entertainment, not investment advice! However, if you've got the funds to invest in watches ($25K-$150K) and can afford to hold long-term without worrying about short-term losses, these are my top picks with strong upside potential.
Want to learn more about watches? email us at support@chriswarnes.com We buy, sell, trade, consign, service, source and repair. Do you want to work with us on a timepiece? email us support@chriswarnes.com In this episode, we dive deep into the history, features, and market value of the Rolex Hulk (reference 116610LV), part of the iconic Submariner "116" series, renowned for its robust build and distinct green hue. Produced from 2010-2020, the Hulk has captivated collectors and enthusiasts alike, especially with some later models re-dated to 2021 by ADs—making these editions rare treasures. Origins and Successors: The Hulk's predecessor, the "Kermit" (ref. 16610V), first introduced a green bezel in 2003 for the Submariner's 50th anniversary. The Hulk itself paved the way for the "Starbucks" (ref. 126610LV), launched in 2020, with a new 41mm case and upgraded 3235 movement. Dial Variants (Marks): Collectors often debate the Hulk's subtle dial variations: Mark 1: 2010-2015 Mark 2: 2013-2016 Mark 3: 2016-2020 Mark 4: 2018-2020 (some dispute this, attributing differences to manufacturing variances) Let us know in the comments if you'd like a detailed episode exploring these variations! Key Features: Case Size: 40mm Movement: 3135, with a 42-hour power reserve Glidelock Clasp: Essential for comfort, especially if your wrist swells like mine! Market Value: A few years ago, Hulks fetched prices nearing $30k at peak, 3x over MSRP due to market inflation. Currently, you can find them from $15-25k depending on condition and production year, with pristine models (NOS) reaching higher. Expect to pay around $18k for a well-maintained Hulk. Final Thoughts: The Hulk ranks among my top two Submariners, and I give it a 9.7 out of 10. Will it hit $100k someday? Maybe—if you're lucky enough to own a 2020 or 2021 Hulk and can hold onto it for a few decades, its value may surprise you! Want to learn more about watches? email us at support@chriswarnes.com We buy, sell, trade, consign, service, source and repair. Do you want to work with us on a timepiece? email us support@chriswarnes.com In this episode, Chris reviews the Rolex Yacht-Master 126621. This watch is available with either a chocolate or black dial, and today we're looking at a black dial example. The Yacht-Master is a solid choice in the $15,000 range on the secondary market, comparable in price to the Two-Tone Blusey 16613LB and the Two-Tone Sub 116613 with a black dial. Its wearability is similar to the Submariners, making it a tough decision for buyers at this price point. However, the Yacht-Master distinguishes itself through its functionality and design purpose. Here's a bit of background and history: First introduced by Rolex in 1992 at 40mm, the Yacht-Master was created as a luxury version of the Submariner. Rolex doesn't frequently introduce new models, with the exception of prototypes from 1967-1969, references 6239/6242. The Yacht-Master, initially nicknamed the "Albino Sub," eventually grew to 42mm but maintained its heritage as a nautical tool and watch, contrasting with the Submariner, which is a diving tool and watch. The Yacht-Master is known to hold its value well, though it isn't expected to increase significantly in value. Chris particularly likes the two-tone version for its versatility and touch of gold, making it a great dressier watch for everyday wear, whether you're going out, having dinner, wearing a jacket or suit, attending formal events, hitting the gym, or even going to the beach. Overall, we rate this watch a solid 8.8 out of 10, compared to the 8 out of 10 for the ice blue dial version. #Rolex #YachtMaster126621 #WatchReview #LuxuryWatches #RolexYachtMaster #TwoToneWatch #WatchCollection #RolexReview #BlackDial #NauticalWatch #EverydayLuxury #WatchRatings #RolexHistory #WatchEnthusiast #LuxuryTimepieces #WatchCraftsmanship #WatchMarket #WatchValue #WatchMSRP #WatchLovers #WatchCommunity #Datejust #ExclusiveReview #WatchFacelift #WatchExperience #WatchVerdict #WatchAnalysis #WatchFeatures #WatchOfTheDay #WristGame #Timepiece #WatchCollector #OmegaLove #WristShot #WatchLover #WatchesDaily #Horology #WatchPorn #TimeIsMoney #WristCandy #WatchFam #WatchGeek #DailyWatchFix #WatchObsession #WristGameProper #HauteHorlogerie #WatchNerd #WatchGoals #Watchaholic #WristWatchCheck #WatchJunkie #WatchAddict #entrepreneur #business #businessowner #businesscoach #businessgrowth #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurlife #entrepreneurs #businesshelp #lifeadvice #coaching #lifecoach #leadership #businesspriorities #businessadvice #entrepreneurtips #hustle #sidehustle #businesstips #firstyearentrepreneurs #entrepreneurshipjourney #HorologyJourney #firstyearinbusiness #Newentrepreneurs Let's Connect: - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chriswarnes... - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/christopher.warnes - Podcast: - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chris-warnes-27b07277

Hodinkee Radio returns for the second installment of The Collector's Edition With Ben Clymer. Follow along with Hodinkee's founder as he speaks with notable friends and watch enthusiasts about what it means to be a collector. As you may recall, we launched the series last year with pop star Ed Sheeran. In this episode, we are thrilled to sit down with comedian, actor, producer, and serial entrepreneur Kevin Hart. If it seems like Hart is everywhere all the time, that's because he is – from the current "Reality Check" stand-up tour and the big screen in hits like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and The Secret Life of Pets to television ads for the likes of DraftKings and JPMorgan Chase. On top of that, he also runs a media company called HartBeat Productions. And on top of that – and what brings us here today – he's also a legit watch enthusiast. We caught up with Kevin at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, right before he was about to hit the stage for back-to-back "Reality Check" shows. We learned that his love of watches dates to the early days of his career and that over the years Submariners, Daytonas, Pateks, and Richard Milles adorned his wrist. Today, his collecting has evolved to the point where he has a partnership with Audemars Piguet. As a "friend of the brand," Kevin has access to some very special pieces, including the ceramic chronograph he famously leaked to the world and the piece he'll be wearing in the upcoming Netflix movie Lift.Show Notes: 0:27Kevin Hart0:30Ben Clymer0:56A stop on the "Reality Check" tour2:00Audemars Piguet4:57Rolex Submariner 166105:14Rolex Daytona 1165085:40Jacob the Jeweler6:25Richard Mille RM 0299:07Kevin's first Tourbillon: The Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph in Rose Gold 26223OR10:51Revealing the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph "50th Anniversary" in Black Ceramic13:28Watch worn in the movie Lift14:05Chadwick Boseman and the AP x Marvel Royal Oak Concept Black Panther Flying Tourbillon17:58Royal Oak Openworked Extra-Thin "40th Anniversary" In Platinum18:46Kevin's car collection20:24Celebrity friends into collecting watches20:48Corey Gamble watch collection

The Rolex Hulk is one of the most infamous Submariners ever produced. However since it's was made the price of it has ballooned to over $30,000. Of course, there are some people out there that will gladly pay that price to get one...but for the vast majority of people that's either too expensive OR they just don't want to give a second hand seller that big of a score. In our festive special of the Fancy a Brew? podcast, join four Submariners as they discuss life beneath the waves during the holiday season. Unseen and unhindered, the silent Submarine Service gives the Royal Navy strength beneath the waves providing continuous nuclear deterrence 365 days a year. They deter the most extreme threats to our national security and way of life, helping to guarantee our safety and that of our NATO allies.

Today I talk to a fellow Chief, good friend and teammate for TeamNavy Jules. Jules was a Submariner and a Navy Diver. He had a very unique career course, making First Class Petty Officer in just five years, he went on to be one of the few Submariners released from that community and one of the few First Class Petty Officers to be accepted into the Navy Dive School. He has a long story and this is part one. #navychief #veteran #bavydiver Production Gear Used: Camera: Red Komodo 6k for streaming Lights Key: Aputure 300x - https://amzn.to/2EX5YQI Fill: Fotodoix 500 LED Panel Background: Aputure MC - https://amzn.to/34koDyx Sound: Rode Go Mic - https://amzn.to/2SnVZXP My Social Locals - modernronin.locals.com IG - /tomchase2017 https://www.instagram.com/tomchase2017 Twitter: @tommychase01 https://twitter.com/tommychase01 Blog http://www.modernronin.com Amazon Link https://amzn.to/2y092bp All content is property of Tommy Chase and The Modern Ronin
Whatever Rolex announces grabs attention. They could issue a press release about what the chairman had for breakfast, and it would probably make the front page of most watch-related media. We might even make a Swiss-breakfast themed podcast about it (“So tell me Jon, have you ever tasted egg and bacon fondue?”) Imagine then, the frenzy of excitement that followed the announcement of Rolex's new watch releases at the beginning of September. Not only do we have new colours for the Oyster Perpetual, but also a paradoxical Submariner that's bigger but looks smaller: among many other things. Joining Anthony, Ben, Jon and Tim is regular guest Neil Duckworth as we analyse all the new releases from Rolex – and prepare to move into Tim's ancestral home in France. One day. This week's new DEPENDAepisode is the tragic hate crime against Petty Officer Third Class Allen Schindler. Listen in as Veronica gives us all the details, and as always, listener discretion is advised. Jen then gives us the eye-opening information on female submariners. Yeah, if you thought all women in the Navy were aloud on submarines always, you will be shocked at what Jen has to share. Listen in! This week we talk to our buddy Nathan from Crown & Caliber. You may recognize him as the guy from most of their videos. Nathan loves watches, is super knowledgeable, and rocks a really classic Datejust. So, of course we had to talk Rolex. More specifically we took a look at our picks for Rolex stainless steel alternatives as well as which Submariners, Daytonas, and GMTs to purchase. Plus, they look at watches that you can buy that are oftentimes less expensive, but doesn't mean they are lacking. We’re joined by Nathan Walker, Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in the United States Navy, and his wonderful wife Kerrie for this whale of an episode. Nathan has served in the “Silent Service” aboard submarines for more than 15 years; he patiently answers all of our questions about life underwater while giving us a detailed history of the U.S. Submarine Force. Later, enjoy a quiz called “The Submariner’s Pastime!” . . . [Music: 1) Al Stewart, “Life in Dark Water,” 1978; 2) Frau Holle, “Ascending Souls,” 2017. Courtesy of Frau Holle, CC BY-NC 3.0 license.]

Episode 90 of The Grey NATO is a conversation Jason had with Paul Scurfield, a UK-based commercial saturation diver. For some, Paul may be familiar from his other job as the founder of the Scurfa watch company, a brand he started in order to make tough, affordable watches he and his fellow divers could wear on the job. But Paul isn't just a microbrand champion. He's collected Tudors, Rolexes and the odd Patek Philippe over the years and remembers his teenaged years looking longingly at COMEX and military Submariners in the Army Navy shops in Newcastle, England, before their prices got where they are today. Paul talks to Jason about his work in commercial diving, the nature of this arcane kind of work, his history collecting and wearing watches, and explains why older iPhones were more helium safe than newer ones. He also talked a little bit about running his own small brand and the philosophy behind Scurfa. Additionally, don't miss Paul's fascinating report on WatchUseek about the function and application of Helium Escape Valves, he's one of the few people that can speak about HEVs with authority and it's worth a read for any dive watch enthusiast (click here to read: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f74/helium-escape-valves-my-findings-4846395.html) Producer's note: this recording was done several months ago via Skype between Paul's home base in England and Jason's in the US. At the time we didn't have a specific intention of using it for The Grey NATO, so the sound quality isn't quite up to the standards you've come to expect from TGN. But James did his best with the edit, and we think the content of Jason's chat with Paul is worth it, which is why we decided to run this as a full episode. For more information about Scurfa Watches, you can check out his website (www.scurfawatches.com), and be sure to follow Paul on Instagram (www.instagram.com/scurfawatches)

Sean and Leyla from Los Angeles' quietest duo, Loch and Key, stopped by the ID World HQ to talk about the changes in their world since 2010's Jupiter's Guide for Submariners - big events like a marriage, law school, passing the bar exam pushed music to the future a bit, but they're back with ID artist Kip Boardman in tow to help Sean and Leyla fill out their hushed duo sound. Joe and the group talked about self-producing their own music with Sean playing all the instruments, and where Leyla finds inspiration for her dreamy lyrics. They shared an in-studio version of a new song called "Deep Space."
In this latest edition of Catholic Military Life--a podcast of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA--Father Tom Hoar, S.S.E., talks about his vocation as a contract priest serving Catholic submariners at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. Enduring long stretches underwater in close quarters without an active duty chaplain to celebrate MasS, Catholic submariners face a constant test of their Catholic faith in the absence of regular access to the sacraments. For some, the temptation to find comfort in spiritually unhealthy vices can be overwhelming at times. Father Hoar shares how, in his decade of ministry to sailors, he has worked on helping some conquor addictions to gambling, the internet, and pornography. Father Hoar also recounts his experience conducting a retreat aboard a guided missible cruiser in the Pacific and a stint at Naval Station Guantánamo Bay.
In 1959, Texas journalist John Howard Griffin darkened his skin and lived for six weeks as a black man in the segregated South. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll describe his harrowing experience and what it taught him about the true state of race relations in America. We'll also ponder crescent moons, German submarines, and griffins in India and puzzle over why a man would be arrested for winning a prize at a county fair. How can we save the occupants of stricken submarines? What species survive in the deepest depths of ocean trenches? Recognising the centenary of the Titanic tragedy, we're diving deep to meet the Rolls-Royce NATO Submarine Rescue System, we find out about a new initiative to discover what really lives at the bottom of the ocean and hear how volcanoes are acidifying the seas. Sean Hoffman's brilliantly facile guitar work and Leyla Akdogan's hushed vocals form the nucleus of the duo Loch and Key. Their debut album, Jupiter's Guide for Submariners, is a love song to the artistically area just north of downtown Los Angeles. Their ethereal mix of bossa nova, folk and pop perfectly complements the band's beautifully endearing visual artwork.
