I'm very excited to present this very special interview with Travis Jeffery, one of my favourite Australian actors whose work I have admired for many years. Travis is best known for his roles in Gallipoli, Angelina Jolie's Unbroken, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Danger Close, The Preacher, Frayed, Last King of the Cross, Heart Break High, and more recently Before Dawn and Planet of the Apes. Three of my favourite films that Travis has started in are Spin Out, Top End Wedding and Bloody Hell. Travis will also star in a stack of upcoming films including Zoe Pepper's Birthright, Myles Pollard's short film, Inheritance, and Adam Morris' Frederickstown. As well as those films I've just mentioned, Travis is also here to discuss his new short film, Dusty. An intensely emotional, moving, and often gut-wrenching film which follows the lead character Dustin, played by Travis. Unable to accept the death of his best friend, Ashely, Dustin goes into voluntary self isolation with a million beers and several bags of cocaine. Amidst the chaos of his grief-induced bender for one, he accidentally mixes his best friends ashes with a very generous line of cocaine, and to his complete and utter confusion, Ashleigh appears. Dusty is also written by Travis, and is direct Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, the veteran Australian actor's directing debut. Throughout this interview, Travis gives us a highly educational insight into the mechanics of being of actor, detailing his journey from growing up on a farm, to starring in major Hollywood productions.

"[A] rare treat… an astute meditation on art, bravery, friendship, love, how to live, and on dying." - Sydney Morning Herald novel review Following a successful series of development readings staged as part of Sydney Festival 2021, Seymour Centre is proud to present the world premiere production of The Museum of Modern Love at Sydney Festival 2022. Adapted from the Stella Prize-winning novel by Heather Rose, The Museum of Modern Love follows New York-based film composer, Arky Levin, a man struggling to live and work in the face of incredible loss. By chance, Arky finds his way to MoMA and sees Marina Abramović in The Artist is Present—a marathon and now-legendary feat of performance art that saw Abramović sitting silent and completely still opposite thousands of museum visitors in the spring of 2010. Arky returns to MoMA again and again, and encounters other viewers also drawn to the exhibit, each with their own reasons for spending hours in the presence of Abramović. As the performance unfolds, so does Arky, and with his life coming back into focus, he finally understands what he must do to move forward. Set against the backdrop of one of the greatest art events in modern history, and blurring the lines between spectator and artist, this transfixing new work explores dying and living, courage and commitment—and meditates on the power of art to unite and connect us, even in an increasingly disconnected world. As part of The Museum of Modern Love, 10 people per performance will have the opportunity to sit on stage and be part of the action. All on-stage ticket holders will need to meet backstage before the show for a briefing and ticket holders will need to stay on stage for the duration of the performance. So this is the last episode ever. Time to move on to greener pastures. Thanks so much to everyone who has listened and followed along on my journey, love you all long time. So in this last episode I talk about copyright issues I had with my lofi beat Garden State, I went to a lovely Christmas Lunch with strangers. I have been connecting with more family members. I watched quite a few movies including Top End Wedding which is a wonderful Australian movie that has a lot of heart. I was surprised to find The Hitman’s Bodyguard had a lot of laughs, an enormous amount of violence but a lot of heart too. I also watched Deadpool. Have to say Deadpool 2 is my favourite. I also saw Love Actually which is one of my all time favourite movies. I have continued the Ableton course to learn how to use my music making program to make better beats. I have a new millionaire mentor and I am hoping to follow his roadmap to make millions of my own! I also been reading up to fill in my quota of reading ten books a year. Plus lots more odd and ends. Beat of the week is Flip It a gruff hip hop beat ready to kick your butt, hahahaha. Enjoy! Thanks for listening. Hi sweet listeners! On this week’s episode we’re chatting about EmRata’s viral essay on consent and exploitation, the Netflix documentary sparking a conversation around social media and the double standards of nude pics. Emily Ratajkowski (which we know we pronounced incorrectly… oops) penned a personal essay for New York Magazine titled “Buying Myself Back: When Does A Model Own Her Own Image?”. This led to our conversation about the rise of revenge porn during COVID in the UK and Australia. A certain male celebrity named Chris (Pine? Hemsworth? Evans?) accidentally posted his own dick pic on Instagram. The flood of support revealed the toxic double standards that still pervades celebrity culture and nudity.Jasmine recommends Sarah Wilson’s article for The Guardian titled, ‘The wellness realm has fallen into conspiritualism – I have a sense why’. Maggie recommends the 2019 Australian romantic comedy Top End Wedding as well as Vogue’s short film ‘I Love New York: Bella Hadid, Misty Copeland & Whoopi Goldberg Celebrate the City’.As always, our jingle, editing and production is by India Raine. I've been chasing Miranda Tapsell to Take 5 for years. The proud Larrakia Tiwi woman has proven hard to pin down because she's been so busy making movies, starring in TV shows, and writing. Many of us first saw Taps in 2012, in her breakthrough role as Cynthia in The Sapphires. But she's also been a star of stage and small screen, performing in plays, on telly as Martha in Love Child, and a regular guest on Get Krackin', and most recently as the lead star and co-writer of Top End Wedding. In amongst it all, Miranda Tapsell penned her memoir Top End Girl capturing a particularly hectic time where she not only wrote a film about getting married, but got hitched herself. Across five tunes, Miranda takes you from her childhood in Darwin and Jabiru, to what called her to acting, and the power of seeing yourself and people like you, on screen. We had a blast talking with the two stars and director (Wayne Blair) of Top End Wedding back at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Actors Miranda Tapsell and Gwilym Lee are adorable and we loved their chemistry in the Aussie film. This is Miranda's first time as a screenwriter and we think she's pretty good at it and hope she keeps on writing. Look for Top End Wedding to open stateside in May!   Visit our website! www.bitchtalkpodcast.com Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

"Top End Wedding" isn't about how expensive getting married can be, but the film has a better pay off. Actors Gwilym Lee from "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the lovely Miranda Lee, who co-wrote and stars in the film, join host Heather Kelly to talk about this Sundance Film Festival entry, and other projects they're working on.  Director Wayne Blair of "Cleverman" was unable to make the discussion, but plays a role in our conversation.  You can follow this show on Twitter and on Facebook.  And to see what Heather does when she's not talking money, go to her personal Twitter page. Be sure to email Heather your questions and request topics you'd like her to cover here.
