In this episode of Disruption/Interruption, KJ sits down with Colin Cooper, CEO and co-founder of Illuminate XR, to explore the massive skills gap threatening our workforce. With over 100 companies under his belt and thousands of global hires, Colin has witnessed firsthand how our 200-year-old education system is failing to prepare people for today's AI-driven world. Discover how immersive technology, emotional intelligence training, and personalized learning are revolutionizing the way humans learn, and why the next few years will determine whether we step into the "age of humanity" or fall behind forever. Four Key Takeaways The Education System Is 200 Years Behind (4:42) Our schools still operate on an industrial-age factory model designed to create compliant workers, not creative thinkers. Classrooms haven't fundamentally changed in over 1,000 years, and curriculum remains rooted in preparing students for a world that no longer exists. Meet Learners Where They Are (7:40)Real learning happens when you reduce cortisol and increase dopamine by connecting education to personal interests. Whether it's tailoring physics lessons to football or basketball, or using horses to teach emotional intelligence, personalization is the key to engagement and retention. AI Should Amplify, Not Replace (20:05) The future isn't about AI replacing teachers or workers—it's about using AI as a personal assistant to handle repetitive tasks. Start by identifying one repetitive task in your job and automate it with AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity. We're Living Through 25 Years of Progress Every Year (29:20)The convergence of AI and VR—technologies that shouldn't have merged for another 15-20 years—has compressed innovation timelines. What used to take 10-15 years to bring to market now takes weeks. The next 3-4 years will be transformative, and we have one shot to get it right. Quote of the Show (29:40):"When a year goes by, you normally get one year's worth of progress, but where we're at today, a year goes by and it's like 20 to 25 years of technology growth." – Colin Cooper Join our Anti-PR newsletter where we’re keeping a watchful and clever eye on PR trends, PR fails, and interesting news in tech so you don't have to. Over the last 30 years, the number of Americans who say they highly value patriotism, religion, community, and family has dropped dramatically. At the same time, the number of Americans who care about making more money has gone up. Phil, Kaitlyn, and Skye discuss David Brooks' new article about the culture's shift toward autonomy and away from loving attachments, and how Christians can begin rebuilding their social muscles. Sociologist and former pastor, Ryan Burge, is back to discuss why the political polarization of Christianity is hurting both the church and democracy. Chase Chrisley opens up to Ian Bick about his upbringing, growing up on reality television, and how fame at a young age shaped his life and decisions. He talks about leaving college, the pressures of being in the public eye, and how his struggles with drinking escalated as his family faced intense legal battles. Chase shares what it was like watching his parents' arrest, trial, and eventual prison sentence, and how visiting them behind bars took a heavy emotional toll that pushed his drinking even further. He also reflects on the moment everything changed — from his parents being pardoned to finally confronting his addiction, getting sober, and rebuilding his life with clarity and purpose. _____________________________________________ #ChaseChrisley #ChrisleyKnowsBest #RealityTV #CelebrityInterview #LifeAfterFame #AddictionRecovery #SobrietyJourney #truestory _____________________________________________ Thank you to GOLD DROP SELTZERS for sponsoring this episode: Head to https://www.thedryoak.com/ and use promo code LOCKEDIN at checkout for 10% off your order. _____________________________________________ Connect with Chase Chrisley: https://www.instagram.com/chasechrisley/?hl=en _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ Shop Locked In Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop _____________________________________________` Timestamps: 00:00 Drinking, Family Pressure & Life in the Spotlight 01:00 Chase Chrisley's Childhood & Growing Up on Reality TV 05:00 Fame at a Young Age: Friends, School & Social Life 10:00 Early Partying, Alcohol & Family Dynamics 15:00 College Years & Early Signs of Trouble 20:00 Living Through the Indictment, Trial & Legal Battles 25:00 Conviction, Sentencing & Impact on the Family 31:00 Alcohol Abuse After Sentencing & Emotional Fallout 35:00 Rock Bottom, Addiction & the Decision to Get Sober 40:00 Visiting Parents in Prison & Public Scrutiny 46:00 Presidential Pardon & A Family's Second Chance 50:00 Rehab, Recovery & Rebuilding Life 55:00 Life After Sobriety: Lessons, Growth & Moving Forward Learn more about your ad choices. Call it the Zakaria paradox. We live in revolutionary times, the CNN host and Washington Post columnist Fareed Zakaria explains, and yet it's the reactionary MAGA politics of resentment that is currently ascendant. It's this paradox that laces Zakaria's 2024 book, Age of Revolutions (just out in paperback), a narrative that traces the history of liberalism from the 17th century revolutionary Dutch Republic to today's reactionary age of populist strongmen. The Trump playbook is clear, Zakaria notes: “the Chinese Are Taking Your Factories, the Mexicans Are Taking Your Jobs, the Muslims Are Trying to Kill You.” So how should progressive liberals, in our age of TikTok and OpenAI, respond with a more optimistic, forward thinking message about our revolutionary times? What is Fareed Zakaria's escape from the Zakaria Paradox?1. Trump's Genius Was Sensing the New Republican Base Trump was the only candidate in 2016 who abandoned the Reagan formula (free trade, balanced budgets, interventionist foreign policy) and recognized that the Republican base had become white working class voters deeply resentful of globalization, immigration, and cultural change.2. We're Living Through a Long Backlash, Not a Moment Zakaria argues that massive technological and economic transformations—from industrialization to today's AI revolution—always trigger prolonged cultural and political backlashes. Trump's re-election confirms we're in this for decades, not years.3. The Dutch Revolution Invented Modern Individualism Painters like Vermeer and Rembrandt revolutionized Western art by depicting ordinary people and daily life rather than religious subjects—marking the birth of individualism that defines modern liberalism. To understand revolution, look at art, not just politics.4. TikTok Is Enlightenment Liberalism on Steroids Our fragmented, personalized media landscape represents the logical conclusion of individual autonomy and choice. But this creates a “hole in the heart”—people miss the certainty of faith, tradition, and community that pre-modern life provided.5. Liberalism's Biggest Threat Comes From Both Sides Zakaria warns that illiberalism threatens from the reactionary right (Deneen-style restrictions on women's rights, immigration) AND from the progressive left (DEI ideology, extreme socialism). True liberals must hold the center and resist sacrificing liberal values to achieve political goals.Keen On America is a reader-supported publication. Today, Jay sits down with Malala Yousafzai to uncover the woman behind the global symbol of courage and education. From the very start, Jay sets the tone with an intention rooted in empathy, to help people not just know Malala, but understand her. Together, they revisit her extraordinary journey, from growing up in Pakistan’s Swat Valley under Taliban rule to surviving an assassination attempt at fifteen. Malala shares what it was like to wake up in a hospital far from home, and how she slowly began to realize that the world had already decided who she was before she could decide for herself. As the conversation unfolds, Malala opens up about the emotional aftermath of her survival, the years spent trying to live up to the image of bravery the world created for her while quietly struggling with fear, trauma, and loneliness. She reflects on how therapy helped her begin to process the pain she had long suppressed, and how rediscovering humor, friendship, and love became essential parts of her healing. Malala also talks about her marriage, her insecurities after the attack, and the importance of learning to love herself before fully believing that someone else could. Her honesty reveals a side rarely seen, that even those who inspire millions still wrestle with doubt and self-acceptance. Malala and Jay explore what courage truly means, not as a public act of heroism, but as a quiet, daily choice to keep going. She reflects on her mission to ensure education for every girl, the ongoing fight for women’s rights in Afghanistan, and how real change begins with local voices and global solidarity. Through her words, Malala reminds us that strength and softness can coexist, that healing is never linear, and that every person has the power to turn pain into purpose. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Stay Brave When You’re Afraid How to Heal From Trauma With Time and Therapy How to Find Yourself Beyond What the World Expects How to Rebuild Confidence After Losing It How to Create Change Through Education How to Love Yourself After Feeling Unworthy How to Redefine Courage in Everyday Life How to Keep Hope Alive in Dark Times How to Be the Voice for Those Who Can’t Speak No matter what you’ve been through, your story isn’t over, it’s still being written every single day. Healing doesn’t happen all at once, and courage isn’t about never breaking down; it’s about finding the strength to rise again, even when you feel unsure. Cameron Steele joins us for Chapter 375! Cam has lived every facet of the action sports life — from growing up watching his dad race trucks, to racing motocross in his youth, freeriding, and riding in the early days of Freestyle Motocross. He went on to land a commentating gig, building an incredible career in action sports, from calling some of the biggest X Games moments — like Travis Pastrana's double backflip — to becoming a voice on ESPN and covering legendary off-road events like the Baja 1000. But Cam hasn't just commentated at Baja — he's raced it numerous times on both two and four wheels, and still competes today in his truck, racing through the deserts of Mexico. What makes Cameron stand out is how he carries himself and gives back, channeling the positive energy from off-road racing into sharing the stoke with others, supporting communities, and helping those less fortunate.Cam is a stand-up guy, and we're stoked to finally have him on the podcast — this one was a long time coming. Few of the world's great scientists have given more thought to the existential threats to humanity than the irrepressible British cosmologist and astronomer Martin Rees. He's the co-founder of Cambridge University's Centre for Existential Risk as well as the author of the 2003 book Our Final Hour. So it's striking that Rees has a quite different take on the existential risk of artificial intelligence technology than many AI doomers including yesterday's guest, the 2024 Physics Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton. For Rees, bio-threats and network collapse represents the most dangerous technological threats to humanity in the near future. Unlike nuclear weapons, which require massive detectable infrastructure, Rees warns, dangerous pathogens can be engineered in small, unmonitored laboratories. Meanwhile, our civilization's complete dependence on interconnected global networks means system failures could trigger catastrophic societal breakdown within days. Apocalypse now? Perhaps. But, according to the prescient Rees, we are preparing for the wrong apocalypse. 1. AI's Real Danger Isn't Superintelligence—It's System DependencyRees is "very skeptical" about AI takeover scenarios. Instead, he worries about our over-dependence on globe-spanning networks that control electricity grids and internet infrastructure. When these fail—whether from cyberattacks or malfunctions—society could collapse within "two or three days."2. Bio-Threats Are Uniquely Undetectable and UnstoppableUnlike nuclear weapons that require massive, monitorable facilities, dangerous pathogens can be engineered in small, undetected laboratories. "Gain of function" experiments could create bioweapons far worse than COVID, and preventing this would require impossible levels of surveillance over anyone with relevant expertise.3. We're Living Through a Uniquely Dangerous EraRees believes "the prospect of a catastrophe in the next 10 or 20 years is perhaps higher than it's ever been." We're the first species in Earth's history capable of changing the entire planet—for good or ill—making this a genuinely special and precarious moment.4. Scientific Wonder Grows with Knowledge, Not Despite ItContrary to those who claim science diminishes mystery, Rees - the co-author of an upcoming book about scientific wonder - argues that "the more we understand, the more wonderful and complicated things appear." As knowledge advances, new mysteries emerge that couldn't even be conceived decades earlier.5. Humility About Human Limitations Is EssentialJust as "a monkey can't understand quantum mechanics," there may be fundamental aspects of reality beyond human comprehension. Rees warns against immediately invoking God for unexplained phenomena, advocating instead for accepting our cognitive limits while continuing to push boundaries.Keen On America is a reader-supported publication. Living Through the Aftershock: COVID-19's Lasting Impact on Our Lives and Leadership In this deep and wide-ranging conversation, Amrita Subramanian and Michael D. Levitt explore the profound and lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic—not just on health systems, but on our humanity, leadership, and everyday decisions. Reckoning With Collective Trauma The episode opens with a candid reflection on how society continues to carry the emotional residue of the pandemic. Amrita underscores the importance of acknowledging that crisis is not an interruption—it's a constant. Michael builds on this by noting how many individuals still carry unprocessed trauma, often triggered by subtle reminders from the pandemic era. Leaders, he argues, must create space for that healing, not push people to simply “move on.” Mortality, Reflection, and Missed Opportunities Amrita shares that COVID-19 accelerated deeper societal trends and forced a confrontation with mortality. Michael adds that the pandemic was a moment when the world could have come together—yet instead, we saw fragmentation. Together, they challenge listeners to reflect on whether we're growing from the crisis—or avoiding it. Growth Through Adversity Both hosts explore how some individuals used the pandemic as a springboard for transformation. Amrita calls these people "magnets"—those who attract possibility through growth and reflection. Michael discusses how our choices ripple outward, affecting teams, families, and communities, and urges leaders to lean into thoughtful, values-based decision-making. Making Peace With Chaos In a thought-provoking segment, Amrita reframes chaos—not as disorder, but as the natural state when clarity and consensus are missing. Michael and Amrita discuss the necessity of continuous learning and the paradox of a generation navigating both truth and noise. The takeaway? We're standing at a crossroads that could lead to either a new renaissance—or a descent into disconnection. Humility and Leadership in Uncertain Times Amrita calls for a return to humility, especially in leadership. She advocates for an unlearning of rigid systems and encourages empathy-based decision-making. Michael echoes this, pointing to the dangers of ego in crisis and the importance of making choices grounded in service and self-awareness. Decisions That Shape the Future Michael shares strategies for making clear-headed decisions amid chaos—removing emotion from the process and using systems like checklists to stay aligned. Amrita offers a counterbalance: the role of curiosity and inner wisdom in guiding leaders toward choices that benefit the greater good. Together, they highlight the legacy we're leaving for the next generation—a chance to lead with civility, courage, and care. Living Fully, Leading Wisely The episode closes with reflections on what it means to live a fulfilling life. Amrita encourages gentle self-examination, while Michael reminds us that leadership starts with personal responsibility—and a commitment to making choices that serve not just ourselves, but those around us. Amrita is a former Fortune 500 VP who has devoted 22+ years of her career to helping organizations thrive amid crises. She is also a trailblazer in post-disruptive growth as a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania and a guest lecturer at Wharton. She has almost completed her Ph.D. on post-traumatic growth in adults through COVID-19. As the world faced the first collective trauma/crisis disruption in modern-day history, the COVID pandemic, Amrita launched a first-of-its-kind study to explore how pain leads to growth and analyze our ability to heal ourselves during an unparalleled crisis. Her work is dedicated to providing education and practical solutions for individuals and communities worldwide. Her lessons draw from the evidence-based practices of everyday people who have shown heartfelt humility and wisdom in the face of crisis and devastation. The research study has amassed global participation, and she is convinced that it will show the pandemic strengthened us and renewed our sense of identity, purpose, and community. Amrita knows well that there is growth from trauma based on what she's endured in her own life. At the age of five, she was abandoned in a convent. The trauma and abuse she endured throughout that time resulted in selective mutism until she was 11 years old, among other things. Amrita is now using her voice to help guide humanity and speak out about the many facets of pain and what good could come from them. On the podcast, she would love to talk about: What happens to the future and nature of work (employees, employers, departments, engagement, stress, fatigue, etc.) following the collective trauma we all walked through? What is the nature of post-disruptive/post-crisis leadership? Who do we need to be to lead ourselves to the next edge of growth and harmony, given crises are only now going to be constant (economic or ecological)? The pandemic is still largely under-processed, and folks do not seem to be making denial a choice. People seem to be hungry to process what they experienced. This article explains why we need to talk about and process pain and how pain can also lead to growth. To get a sense of Amrita, here's an episode she did recently on The Trauma Therapist Podcast, where she talked about how her life has been shaped by continuous growth from trauma.

Imagine living in Los Angeles. Imagine that you actually wrote something nearly 10 years ago that pretty much nailed the fire we're seeing this month. Imagine you put 10 years of your life into writing a novel that cut no corners and tried to make real the stakes and the conflicts those disasters would bring up – as a warning to act sooner. Now imagine the worst person in the world taking credit for your work while using the tragedy – that you forsaw – to turn people against the solutions that would do something to stop more of these disasters happening in future. How Stephen Markley, author of 2023 novel The Deluge, is keeping it together despite all the above I will never know, but I'm grateful he could make time to speak with me this week. Session One: The Descent into Slavery We know that contemplating the events of Yetzias Mitzrayim is central to our avodas Hashem. Recognizing that this house has a Master, and internalizing our knowledge that Hashem exists, is the very purpose of our life in this world. It is therefore our holy obligation to learn as much as we can about Pesach and gain a detailed understanding of the events that transpired. In the first session of Living Through the Makos, Rabbi Shafier explains how Klal Yisroel went from being a privileged nation in Egypt to tortured slaves. He discusses the rise of anti-Semitism amongst the Mitzri, and how their hatred of others ultimately led to their hatred of themselves. Packed with valuable life-lessons, this series is guaranteed to give you the ultimate in Pesach preparation and elevate your Sedarim like never before.

In "Living Through the Storm: Rising Above Life's Toughest Trials," Adam Burton offers an empowering perspective on overcoming life's challenges through faith. Drawing inspiration from Venus and Serena Williams' rise from Compton to tennis stardom, Burton parallels their journey with the transformative power of faith in adversity. This sermon beautifully intertwines the hope found in Christian faith with the excitement of seizing golden opportunities, likening enduring faith amidst hardships to refining gold. Burton guides us through a journey of understanding trials not as obstacles but as opportunities designed by God to shape us into the people He intended us to be. He emphasizes that these trials are like spiritual gym sessions – tough but incredibly rewarding, strengthening our faith muscles. By exploring 1 Peter 1:3-12, the sermon highlights the concept of a living hope, born from victory, and an imperishable inheritance awaiting believers. Whether you're facing storms in life or seeking to deepen your spiritual resilience, this message is a beacon of hope and encouragement. It calls us to recognize our trials not as distractions but as instruments crafted by God to help us thrive. Join us in discovering joy in hard places and embracing our identity as part of a grand story of hope and redemption, as revealed through the lives of the prophets and the fulfillment found in Christ.

Under Joe Biden we are now actually LIVING THROUGH. World War 3 trends on twitter as Biden continues to fund the proxy war in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia has exposed that Biden tried to coerce them into postponing oil cuts until after the midterms and the US economy continues to falter as inflation reaches a 40 year high and food prices rise over 15 percent. We were deeply upset by the tragic mass shootings last weekend, so today, we need to talk about guns. Amanda Weinstein, Jasmine Clark, and guest host Katie Paris discuss how frustrating it is to feel like politicians are doing nothing while thousands die from gun violence. The majority of Americans support common sense legislation on firearms, so we need to stay loud and let our leaders know that we demand better.Indiana mom DeAndra Dycus joins the pod to share her personal connection to this issue: after a stray bullet paralyzed her teenage son, she started an organization called Purpose for My Pain to support other families who have been affected by gun violence. DeAndra also spoke at the 2020 Democratic National Convention and published a book, Beautiful Resilience: Stories of Inspiration on Living Through a Mother's Grief. After that, Amanda interviews Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action. They discuss what moms can do to fight for better gun legislation, why it's important for more women to run for office, and how Shannon stays positive and hopeful while working on such a devastating issue. They also find a little time to talk about Julianne Moore, Elizabeth Warren, and Shannon's favorite yoga pose. Finally, Amanda, Jasmine and Katie raise a glass to community support, to the women of SWEEP, and to attending the Georgia Democratic State Dinner in this week's “Toast to Joy.”If you're ready to join the Great Troublemaker Turnout, please sign up here! One of the participants in tonight‘s group on the "Ladder of Divine Ascent" described St. John's teaching on Detachment as a “mic drop moment.” The psychological insight and the understanding of the fickleness of the human mind and the wiles of the ego are presented to us in such an unvarnished fashion that there is no denying the truth of them. Yet – there is something in this that is incredibly uplifting to the human heart. The truth though difficult to hear and even more difficult to embrace is liberating and offers freedom. To have a first taste of this in these paragraphs on Detachment is something wonderful. We begin to see that the monks were leaving behind everything within the world not because they hated the world or hated others; but because they were drawn there by He who is infinite and absolute Love. Within the human heart is an urgent longing for what God alone can offer. In Him we come to see the meaning of our own lives and who we are. We step into Reality. And even though this may be very difficult and even though we may want to avoid it more often than not, if we allow ourselves to be drawn by the Lord, allow Him to take us by the hand and lead us into the truth of His Life and the reality of His Love - what an indescribable joy comes over the mind and heart. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:02:28 Lita's iPhone: Happy to be joining you all! The COVID pandemic is like nothing most of us have ever lived through. This is especially true for kids and teens who are still developing mentally and physically. This week we talk with special guest, Annabel Reddick, a high school senior in Davidson, North Carolina about her experience living through the pandemic, and how things are going two years into it. Gene, Khadijah, and Annabel discuss the struggle of remote learning and maintaining relationships, readjusting to school more than a year later, how she and her sister coped, and what she thinks adults should know about teens and mental health. Tune in for a great conversation and to hear a perspective we don't often get but have a lot to learn from. While Annabel's experience is just that of one teen, we believe she discusses some universal truths from her story that highlight issues of mental health for many teens out there. They don't sit home or watch westerns on TV like our daddies did. People keep busy and that's hard for a lot of people. My son-in-law asked: So, when are you really gonna retire? I said I don't really anticipate it because what would I do." "People aren't really prepared for figuring out what to do, if they don't have things planned out yet. I had a friend, a good friend, who called me up and said Rodney, there's nothing to do! Well, think about that before you retire. I always tell people make sure you have a plan for how you're going to spend your time. If you're not going to work, have a plan to do something. Volunteer. You'll get real tired if you play golf every day or do all those home projects you thought you would get to [one day]. You'll run through those, but get bored really quickly." On the Health Gap "African Americans suffer disproportionately from 8 of the top 13 leading causes of death in the United States, for a bunch of reasons. Black Americans have higher rates of heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, and you have to add murder in there. But, many people don't realize that Alzheimer's is is twice as likely to happen to a Black woman than a white American. I did a story on Blacks and Alzheimer's and I was shocked at the numbers. I really didn't really know that there was a racial component there.

Marijuana Anonymous does not endorse the author of "A Doctor's Opinion about Marijuana Addiction" or his employer. The medical opinion presented is based on the doctor's research and clinical experience as of 2015 and should not be construed as the last word on the subject of marijuana addiction. Marijuana Anonymous is not affiliated with any foundation, institution, or other organization and has no opinion on outside issues. A Doctor's Opinion about Marijuana Addiction Marvin D. Seppala, MD Chief Medical Officer Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation I hope that this brief writing may provide those who are seeking help a general understanding of the disease of addiction, and some specific aspects of marijuana addiction. Many people say that marijuana is not addicting, but this is simply not accurate. People do become addicted to marijuana, just as they do to alcohol, opioids and stimulants. Marijuana addiction differs from these other types of addictions primarily by the outward or social manifestations, but internally, the same pain and anguish exist. Marijuana addiction is much less socially visible than alcoholism or heroin addiction, in which one can easily witness problems such as driving under the influence or development of serious infections like HIV or hepatitis. The other drugs tend to cause more obvious problems when addiction takes hold. Studies show that about 9% of those who use marijuana become addicted to it. The unfortunate truth is that the lack of serious, early consequences to marijuana addiction allow for a long, slow decline, often without recognition, resulting in later-stage addiction before the problem is confronted. An individual may wake up years into this chronic illness, without a reasonable understanding of how their life got so far off track. Often one has no major medical or legal problems, no sudden tragedy that drives the search for an answer. However, isolation from friends and family, loss of interest and lack of participation in those activities that used to bring joy, and the crushing weight of missed opportunities add up. Our Awakening The text below is quoted from the last four paragraphs of Step Twelve in our book Life with Hope - A Return to Living Through the 12 Steps and the 12 Traditions of Marijuana Anonymous (3rd edition: p61-62) "Those of us who have rigorously and thoroughly taken all of the steps can attest to the fact that we have become stronger people. As we make spiritual progress, we begin to feel emotionally secure. Our new attitudes bring about self-esteem, inner strength, and serenity that is not easily shaken by any of life's hard times. Our awakening has come about as a result of a spiritual house cleaning, being aware of who we are, and cultivating a growing relationship with our Higher Power. That relationship can lessen the role of fear as the main source of motivation in our lives. We know that our needs will be met — perhaps not in the ways that we had hoped for, but in ways from which we can truly grow. We have found that freedom from fear is much more important than freedom from want. We start to accept the unpleasantness in our lives and become grateful when we are able to experience growth from it. We learn to give without expecting rewards. We act as responsible members of society, living not in isolation but with a sense of community. We become true partners with our friends and loved ones. With the help of a Higher Power, we respond positively to adversity. Practicing the principles we learn by taking the Twelve Steps produces rewards beyond calculation. With a deep sense of gratitude and the help of a power greater than ourselves, we can live in spiritual, emotional, and physical recovery; we live with serenity and security, one day at a time. Humbly seeking to do the will of a Higher Power, we find that we can now live useful lives. As a result, we reap benefits we had thought unattainable, even unimaginable. As we each work the program in our own special way, we discover the spiritual principles that we all have in common. We are all unique examples of how the program works, each of us with our distinct gifts to share. We take these steps for ourselves, not by ourselves. Others have gone before; others will follow. We recover." © Marijuana Anonymous World Services 2019. Reprinted by permission. Jonathan Goldman, Innovator in Light Medicine, Has Mapped The Human Energy Vehicle in a Revolutionary Way That is Both Intricate and Practical, Empowering People From All Walks Of Life In Their Own Personal Evolution And Healing. In his four decades of working with Energy Medicine, first as an acupuncturist and then as the developer of Transformational Energy Healing, he has mapped the multi-layered Human Energy Vehicle (HEV). Goldman has uniquely described where and how thought forms, emotions, energetic material, beliefs, and spiritual qualities live and operate in the multiple energy layers that are within and around the human body. This has allowed him to create a form of healing which goes beyond and enhances psychotherapy, allopathic medicine, and alternative healing modalities. From that point forward, Goldman began receiving what became The Chakra Map, Transformational Energy Healing, and The Divine Tactics. His own journey of personal healing and spiritual evolution has paralleled the knowledge that he has received and taught to thousands.Goldman is one of the leading educators on the embodiment of Light and its use in healing and for spiritual illumination. The Essential Light Institute, which he co-founded in 2008, is dedicated to teaching the arts of self-transformation and energy healing through direct relationship with the living force of Light. His book The Gift of the Body: A Multi-Dimensional Guide to Energy, Anatomy, Grounded Spirituality and Living Through the Heart he describes as "an experiential, practical, transformational manual for the adventure school of your life." Sam welcomes his guest, Light Medicine innovator Jonathan Goldman. Jonathan shares how he got started on his journey to Transformational Energy Healing, a journey which took him all over the world. Segment 2Jonathan continues the story of his spiritual growth, including a transformational experience he had during a trip to Brazil in the 1970s. He then tells us about a voice that spoke to him and encouraged him to embark on his journey. He goes into detail on how sickness and disease start in the mind and make their way into our body. Sam asks Jonathan: is our spirit in our body, or is our body in our spirit? Sam and Jonathan discuss the Hindu tradition of energy layers that reside in the body, and then start to discuss the concept of chakras. Segment 3Continuing the discussion on chakras, Sam asks Jonathan how he discovered the concept and how it helps to define who we are as humans. Jonathan shares a deep experience he had while in his office in Oregon, that formed the basis for how he lives and does his teaching. Sam shares a story of gratitude he experienced at his center in New York City. Jonathan gives advice on how to open up gratitude as a vibrational healing tool. Sam asks Jonathan a classic New York question: what do we even need our bodies for? Jonathan talks about the importance of going “through and out,” not “up and out,” when experiencing pain. Sam shares a story of pain he experienced this past weekend. Segment 4Sam asks Jonathan how we can use Light Energy and Chakras to navigate the craziness of modern life. Jonathan talks about the many ways we can manage modern day issues and stresses by living “through the heart.” Sam quotes: “The mind should be the heart's soldier.” To close out the show, Jonathan takes listeners through a compassion exercise. The great sages taught that the answers to healing, spiritual evolution, elevated consciousness, and living a happy and fulfilled life are inside of us. But how exactly do we tap into that? Our guest, Jonathan Goldman can answer these questions. As one of the first acupuncturist in the United States and with over four decades of working with energy medicine, Jonathan has mapped where emotions, beliefs, and spiritual qualities operate in the energetic layers within and around the human body. This has allowed him to create a very unique form of healing.Jonathan is the author of Gift of the Body: A Multi-Dimensional Guide to Energy, Anatomy, Grounded Spirituality and Living Through the Heart. He is the founder of the Essential Light Institute, which is dedicated to teaching self-transformation and energy healing through direct relationship with the living force of Light.Tune in for this philosophical conversation at TalkRadio.nyc or watch the Facebook Livestream by clicking here.Show NotesSegment 1Dr. G starts tonight's episode off reminding listeners about the show's mission and introducing tonight's guest, acupuncturist Jonathan Goldman. Judi reads a quote of Jonathan's and lists more of his qualifications. Jonathan talks about seeing the body as a gift rather than a prison, sharing his journey of healing, working through his pain. By accepting this pain, he found light and pleasure on the other side. This is when he realized there are layers to the body, and we are multidimensional beings. Jonathan discusses disidentification being the first step to healing. After disidentifying, we have choices of how to move forward and become, as Jonathan says, the commander of the vehicle. Pain is contraction, the universe expands and contracts, without pain, there is no pleasure. Suffering though, is the ignorance to confront or accept pain. He talks about a journey he had 12 years into his acupuncture career that opened his healing channel. He found weird things happening in his practice, with a feeling in his hands translating to healed patients without him doing much. He had a feeling of not knowing who he was anymore, this wasn't his feeling though, it was his patients. This started a process over the next 15 years, of him understanding the layers of the chakra. This led to him creating a chakra map. Jonathan describes chakras as the energies in the center of each layer of our being, with each one having a responsibility for one of the more important aspects of our lives.Segment 2Coming back from the break, Judi asks Jonathan to discuss his chakra map. He talks about grounding, connecting our energies to those of the earth, and how the energy moves through the chakras. He compares the second chakra to a perpetual two year old, describing how it does what it wants to do. In making us want to fit in, civilization often tries to restrict the second chakra, which often leads to depression. There are two sides to each chakra, the front and the back. The energy is stored in the back and released through the front. He moves on to discuss finding the restricted chakras in patients. He describes a restriction in the throat chakra, which speaks truth. Dr. G asks about whether an infant in the womb can be affected by the mother's chakras. Jonathan thinks this is definitely possible. He talks about cultivating gratitude, opening his throat chakra, making him more receptive to love and speak more truth.Segment 3Next they move on to the emotional bodies of the chakras. Each chakra has an emotional body, and they are meant to constantly be in movement. Jonathan describes the central qualities of some chakras and how they change depending on whether a chakra is expanding or contracting. He describes his process of healing, clearing energy out to find the source of the problem. He talks about the heart chakra and opening it in order to feel compassion. Compassion is a vibration of neutrality that allows everything. Empathy on the other hand links to those around you. While empathy can burn out, compassion cannot. Once open, we can more easily resonate through love. Resonance and magnetism are two laws of the universe, with magnetism pushing away likes and resonance attracting them. Jonathan talks about being a healer in order to participate in miracles. He moves on to discuss going through things in order to heal, providing an anecdote. In healing we need to commit at some point rather than resisting. Even after committing, we need to keep saying yes. Compassion tells us that we will heal and at our own pace.Segment 4Coming into the final segment Jonathan talks about light, and how it is real rather than a metaphor. It has nothing to do with religion or spiritual path, it is available to all of us. Reaching this light is done through prayer, meditation, and many other ways. As he mentioned before, we are supposed to feel pain, but even in contractions, there can still be light. Jonathan brings up a story of the Dalai Lama keeping his hands in front of his chest, where faith rests. Judi asks Jonathan to share resources where listeners can reach him or find his material. Judi asks Jonathan to discuss something he wrote about in his book, the longest four inches in the universe. This is the distance between the third chakra and the heart. He discusses what this distance means, and the differences between this chakra and the heart. He talks about us being invited or dragged through these four inches to live through the heart. Jonathan's takeaway for the audience is that you are much more magnificent than you see yourself to be. Dr. G asks Jonathan to end tonight's episode in prayer.
From old petroleum sites to chemical dumping grounds, toxic waste sites are disproportionately located in low income and minority communities, and carry lots of adverse health and environmental impacts. And today, climate change threatens to make it even worse, with floods, hurricanes, and wildfires ravaging brownfields and spreading toxins into these communities. Today, we cover what brownfields and Superfund sites are, what problems they create, and some strategies for how to clean them up.
