Is there a crisis in men and young boys? If so, what is causing this crisis? This week, our guest is Dr. Robert Tyminski. Robert has written a book that explores this question, and for him, one of the primary causes is the ways in which we approach our digital spaces. We discuss feelings of alienation, omnipotence, masculinity and femininity, breaking through the inner world of men, James Baldwin's hypermasculinity in public, what constitutes reality, and how this phenomenon did not simply appear in the 21st century. As always, if you find the conversation interesting, consider supporting our efforts to bring civil discourse back to the mainstream by clicking the subscribe button, hitting the like button, and leaving a thoughtful comment for me and my guest. Karol Tyminski is a choreographer and a performer based in Berlin. He co-founded the Centrum w Ruchu [Centre In Motion] collective. He is a graduate of the Warsaw Ballet Academy and the Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Belgium and DAS Graduate School in Amsterdam. Tymiński focuses on creating motion which explores the structure of the human body. The latter is presented rather as some physical matter and not so much a fully developed individual. It thus becomes a plateau for questioning the established cultural human image. In his brutalist dance Tymiński oscillates between physical labour and ritual, thoroughly penetrating the performer's physicality, and at the same time: reaching his emotional dimension. Tymiński's works have been presented at numerous international stages, such as: American Realness (NYC), Esplenade Theatre (Singapore), Reykjavik Dance Festival, Impuls Tanz (Vienna),La Maison de la culture d'Amiens (France), Sophiensaele (Berlin), and many more.

He's been a key part of Alison Krauss & Union Station for 25 years. He's the voice of the most popular and successful bluegrass track of the 21st century in "Man of Constant Sorrow." And he's one of the most admired acoustic musicians all around in his field. Looking for new directions and challenges during a break from AKUS, Dan Tyminski started writing songs with Music Row songwriters he'd never met before. And before long he found a surprising new sound emerging and some thoughts and feelings he'd never thought about putting into music before. The result is a new career under the name Tyminski with a debut album Southern Gothic. It's daring and different and certainly not bluegrass. He says his late mom and dad wouldn't have liked it one bit. But here he is, 50 years old with a bold new direction. Also in the hour, some Time Machine Tape with Alison Krauss herself, talking with Robert Plant in 2007 about the album they'd just finished together, well before it was released and won 6 Grammy Awards.

Cruz Contreras certainly knows about life on the road. After his first group dissolved, he hit the road again as a truck driver based in East Tennessee. It didn't take him long to put the pieces together for his next venture, which is growing stronger every year. With a voice compared to Randy Travis, Dan Tyminski, and even Ralph Stanley, he is leading The Black Lillies to national acclaim. With their third studio album "Runaway Freeway Blues," they continue to leave home in Knoxville, Tennessee to play over 200 dates each year. We had a chance to catch up with them on a swing through Nashville to hear what they're all about.

LeAnn Rimes recently released her most personal album ever. LeAnn refers to "Spitfire" as an "intimate conversation between her and whoever's listening." The album features several special guests including Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 and Jeff Beck, along with Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski. "Borrowed" was the lead single off the album, which covers material that was very difficult for her to write. Kelly Lynn caught up with LeAnn to talk about the new project, which hit stores last month.
