Hello to you Indivisible Whidbey activists listening in Oak Harbor, Coupeville, Greenbank, Freeland, Langley, Bayview, and Clinton on Whidbey Island, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. On Friday 18th April, 2025 I posted my 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday episode entitled “What Difference Can 1 Ordinary Person Make?” about Granny D Haddock who walked across America in her 90th year to bring attention to campaign finance reform. Click HERE to access that episode. As Granny D walked across America she was asked to speak at rallies, churches, community gatherings, and the like. The following is a short piece from a speech Granny D delivered at the Buck Jackson Rodeo Arena in Pecos, Texas on May 14th, 1999:“Never be discouraged from being an activist because people tell you that you'll not succeed. You have already succeeded if you're out there representing truth or justice or compassion or fairness or love. You already have your victory because you are changing the world; you are changing the status quo; you are changing the chemistry of things. And changes will spread from you, will be easier to happen again in others because of you because, believe it or not you with your activism are the center of the world.” CTA: Maybe like me you are coming to realize that activist work is not a job, but a calling to work together. We are called to work together to make the world a better place for all of us doing what we can with what we have for as long as we are needed.Thank you for listening and being one of us!You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Who We Are and What We Have in Christ. Text: 1 John 2:12-14This is a ‘greeting' of sorts, perhaps a hymn – or even a ‘transition' – like between the slides on a powerpoint! Certainly it's an exhortation to the Christians to show them who they are, and what they have in Christ.Read the NOTES HERE. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
As I mentioned in the last couple of episodes, we're in the home stretch (at least for now) of the Raised Catholic podcast. Last week, I told the story of the podcast through the lens of the Notre Dame Cathedral fire as an allegory for the state of the Church and as a model for how an unlikely ministry sometimes finds us. This week I'll share my take on the state of the Church. If you'd like to connect with me, find me on Instagram, at my website, or on Substack. If you'd like to help support this podcast financially, there's a way to do just that on my page at buymeacoffee.com! It can sometimes be exciting when we don't know what's coming next. Other times, the unknown can be deeply troubling. This week, we talk with researcher Dannagal Goldthwaite Young about how we respond to uncertainty, and why this psychological trait plays a surprisingly large role in shaping our behavior, perspectives — even our political beliefs. Contented Heb 13:5 #RTTBROS #Nightlight A Heart of Contentment: Finding Joy in What We Have "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5, KJV) The world whispers promises of fulfillment through more, more, more. But amidst the endless pursuit, contentment often feels elusive. Today, let's step away from the clamor and rediscover the joy of gratitude, rooted in the truth that God has already provided all we truly need. Adrian Rogers once said, "Gratitude is not just saying 'thank you'; it's a way of life." It's a lens through which we view our circumstances, shifting our focus from what we lack to the abundance already present. We may not have everything we desire, but as Charles Spurgeon eloquently reminded us, "It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes us happy." Cultivating gratitude is a daily practice, a muscle that strengthens with use. Start your day by acknowledging three things you're grateful for, big or small. It could be the warmth of the sun on your face, the laughter of a loved one, or the simple gift of another breath. Write them down, savor them in your mind, and whisper a "thank you" to God. Gratitude doesn't mean ignoring challenges or aspirations. It allows us to acknowledge them while remembering that our worth isn't defined by our achievements. As we move forward in life, our goals and desires may change, but God's faithfulness remains constant. He promises never to leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5, KJV). Finding contentment doesn't mean stagnation. It's about embracing the present while striving for progress. It's about saying, "Lord, I trust You. I'm grateful for what I have today, and I'm confident in Your goodness as I journey forward." Remember, dear friends, true joy isn't found in acquiring more, but in appreciating what we already possess. With a heart overflowing with gratitude, we discover a deep sense of peace and contentment, no matter what life throws our way. So let us cultivate this precious gift, embracing the Adrian Rogers way: not just saying "thank you," but living a life of gratitude, radiating joy in the abundance God has already bestowed upon us. From the devastating tragedy of the fires in Maui comes clarity of what really is most important and most valuable in life. Also, in its aftermath, there were many demonstrations of how people can come together and demonstrate what kindness and generosity look like, rallying to do whatever it takes and whatever is needed to care for others. The immediacy of resiliency, figuring out what can we do and what do we have that we can give allows us to extend the Aloha Spirit wherever we are.

Dearest MamasToday, I want to talk to you about the incredible power of a happy list. It's a concept that impacts my life profoundly, and I believe it can do the same for you. So, grab a cup of tea, find a cozy spot, and let's dive into this wonderful practice together.A happy list is a sacred collection of things, experiences, and thoughts that bring you joy, gratitude, and happiness. It's a reminder of the beautiful and positive aspects of your life, a snapshot of the moments that make your heart sing. When you create and engage with a happy list, you invite more happiness and positivity into your life. The first thing that makes a happy list so powerful is its ability to shift your focus to the positive. We live in a world where negativity can easily overwhelm us—stress, challenges, and hardships are a part of life. But with a happy list, we intentionally redirect our attention away from those negative aspects and train our minds to dwell on the things that bring us happiness. By consciously shifting our mindset towards positivity, we can improve our mood, our overall outlook, and our resilience. One of the greatest powers of a happy list lies in its ability to boost your mood instantly. When you're feeling down, stressed, or overwhelmed, revisiting your list can be a soothing balm for your soul. Engage with the items on your list—listen to your favorite uplifting music, immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, or engage in activities that bring you pure joy. By intentionally immersing yourself in these moments of happiness, you can quickly uplift your mood and restore your emotional well-being.[Time Stamps][00:00] - Acknowledgements[00:40] - The Power of a Happy List[01:55] - The Process[04:00] - Blind to What We Have[05:48] - Right Now[07:30] - Filling Up[09:00] - A List[12:52] - What it' All ForSo, my dear friends, I invite you to create your own happy list. Whether it's a physical journal, a digital document, or a mental compilation, make it a sacred practice to regularly engage with it. Take the time to review, update, and add new items that bring you joy and happiness. Allow yourself to be fully present in those moments as you engage with your list, savoring the joy they bring.Remember, the power of a happy list lies in the act of consciously focusing on happiness. Embrace it as a daily ritual, a sanctuary for your soul. The unsaved are intensely curious about 'the other side' and go to great lengths to find out. However, at the same time, they suppress the one and only truth about it, Jesus and His holy heaven. Today I remind listeners of the fact that the pagans prefer the creation instead of the creator, but we can offer knowledge of their other side in truth, by calling them to repentance and then they will know and understand these matters. Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” People who are stuck in life tend to focus on two things: What They Have LostNegative Things They Think Are ComingShe Spoke Out Of Her Unresolved Disappointment And Fear. Elisha Didn’t... Give Her Money, Get A Financial Planner, Take A Class, Rebuke The Devil, Get A New Husband, Even Pray.He Brought Her A Long-Term Solution Through Revelation. One More Thing Keeps People Stuck: They Also Are Likely To Devalue What They Already Have. When We Encounter A Prophetic Culture: Who We Are... What We Have... Our Potential… God’s Promises… “Taking our eyes off what we think we don't have causes us to see what we already do have.”“You already have something which is the key to breakthrough and momentum in your life.”Gifting idea skill relationship. ~ Say, “ I already have it.” ~ Widow: “What do you have?”3Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few. 4“And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.” 5So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing the vessels to her and she poured. 6When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not one vessel more.” And the oil stopped. 7Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”Word From God:Her Eyes were taken off what she thought didn’t have, disadvantage, inferior about. ….. Eyes to the oil.Vs. 3 - borrow, shut door behind you, pour into all vessels. Breakthrough happens when we start putting our faith in what we have... and what we can do. Do not despise the day of small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin. Zechariah 4:10Become the Elisha in People’s lives.Elisha Sees The Gold In People ~ Already are ~ Already have ~ Open Heaven. Until We See For Ourselves. Some people say:“I want to do something great” Instead, Do what you are doing now with great faith and it will become great. Faithfulness is not just showing up, it’s how you think when you show up. Declarations put faith in what you already have. Exodus 14 “My forward movement causes red seas to part” “The red sea is opening up under my feet.” John 4:35 “I see the fields white unto harvest.” What do I have to believe in order to have hope in 2021?In 2021 I will experience the greatest joys, greatest victories, and greatest accomplishments of my life.

#MissionMonday April 23, 2019 A Reminder of What We Have by Mission Monday
What is unspoken, undone, and unacknowledged - what needs to be expressed and doesn't get air time - goes back in and rots inside of us. The Consequence of Sound a song by Regina Spektor, has been inspiring me to explore the consequence of what goes unspoken, and how it affects the world we live in and our bodies. Learn about ways you can shift and use your voice and expression to have a healthier body and how the language of Sanskrit connects with this song. A Little About A{Live} Now I've found that when I share what's true in the moment, there is so much ALIVENESS and fullness in me. That's why I started the the A{Live} Now mini-series, which is within the Embody Podcast. This is the second episode and I intend to share what's happening in my real life and in my inner world, what's truly full and alive now. What's alive now in me has often been what's filled the juicy stuff of life: themes, joys, or challenges that others may also be experiencing, a fear and other emotions that bring me to the edge of my fullest expression in the moment. As you listen, I will also share snippets of how you can support your own heart and soul, know yourself, be your fullest, or heal and love yourself.
