What's your policy on hand-me-downs?  When Anna's tween was a baby, she refused all hand-me-downs!  Her baby was only going to have the newest, most stylish apparel!  Now, with her second baby, she's a little less worried about it…  (:30) Anna and Raven have had a competition going all week.  Who can get the most interesting Oscar winner interview?  They've each found a recipient of the golden statue, and now the decision is up to you!  Which interview is more interesting?  Find out who won in the podcast!  (2:52) Every Friday, Raven's wife Alicia calls in to the show to give Raven a grade on how he has been as a husband this week!  This week, Raven and Alicia threw a surprise party for his mom.  Was Raven helpful and supportive, or did he leave Alicia to plan his own mother's birthday?  Well, it wasn't quite that bad, but it wasn't all that good either…  (17:00) Moving heavy furniture can be difficult, especially if it's just you and couple friends with a pickup truck.  But if you try to use THIS to secure the stuff you're moving in the back of the truck, that's all I need to know about you!  (20:49) If you heard a strange sound in the middle of the night, what would you do?  13% of people are like Anna and automatically assume that the noise is a ghost or a demon.  Most people don't do anything and just go back to sleep.  Raven's wife on the other hand, is ready to throw down, and you won't believe what she has next to her bed in case of an emergency!  (24:04) What did you do this week to earn your Margarita? Every Friday, Anna gets together with her two friends for happy hour, and talks about all the ways her kids drove her crazy this week! One caller had to be a videographer for her daughter's Tiktok video, and this kid was demanding!  (27:23) Have you ever finally voiced an unpopular opinion and thought to yourself, “There, I said it”!  Anna and Raven want to know what it is!  Anna is not a fan of bacon. There, she said it!  On caller might be the only person in the world who hates these two incredibly popular Disney movies!  (31:20) Couples Court: James doesn't approve that their friend's nanny "touches" their son. It's completely harmless and helps their three-year-old son on swings, the slide, etc., James strongly feels that he never wants a stranger to touch their child even if it's just to help them on the playground. His wife, Marie, says he's out of touch. Who cares if the nanny is helping with their son? Her job is to care for children! She's not going to tell the nanny to not touch their child when she's outside playing with them! Whose side are you on?  (34:48) Donna thinks she's got what it take to win $3400!  All she has to do is beat Raven in pop culture trivia!  (42:14)

Assessing Your Business' Capacity with Anna Wolf

How's your capacity feeling these days? Getting a lot done? Or, like me, have you been hitting that pandemic wall hard? Over the last few weeks, I've been exploring the idea of maintenance mode in business, and today I want to shift from exploring the IDEA of maintenance mode into more tactical applications. If YOU wanted to move your business into maintenance mode, or you wanted to focus on scaling, how would you DO that? How would you prepare for maintenance mode? In all of my conversations with other business owners who have made this shift, there has consistently been a first step that they had to address.Capacity.Either the business's capacity or their own capacity as the owner. Each business owner ran up against a wall (sometimes repeatedly) and came to the realization that the way they HAD been working wasn't the way they wanted to CONTINUE working. They had to make changes to increase their capacity. Sometimes, that meant changing a business model to a more sustainable one. Sometimes it meant creating a capacity limit to protect their energy or just stepping back from the work for months at a time. Sometimes it just meant examining the work they did and figuring out how to make it more efficient. That's the path that today’s guest, Anna Wolf, took. Anna is the CEO and owner of SuperScript Marketing, a content marketing agency for financial brands. She runs a team of marketers, scattered throughout the world, who create content for financial companies and who provide customized services for each client. When Anna ran up against her capacity ceiling, she decided that she loved the work she was doing and didn't really want to change the way that she was working. But that something still had to change. So Anna turned to systems. Listen to the full episode to hear: How Anna thinks about capacity and figuring out what the real capacity is in her businesses About some of the projects that Anna built to expand her business’s capacity without fundamentally changing what she was already doing to deliver quality services What impact these systems and processes have had on her business or on her own capacity as the owner And how Anna has learned that there needs to be a balance between seeking answers externally and follow your gut, even if that means risking making mistakes Learn more about Anna Wolf: SuperScript Financial Marketing Agency  LinkedIn @annawolf Learn more about Susan: Scalespark Dollars + Decisions Roundtable Twitter @ScaleSpark LinkedIn @thesusanboles

In this episode, your three co-hosts share what they’re grateful for and what they’re hopeful for in the new year. They are also going to be taking a two-week break during this holiday season, but don’t worry! They already have some great guests lined up for the new year. Everything from a digital nomad to an urban planner to a new and improved way people can co-work together. Thank you for listening and please leave us a review if you like what you heard on today’s show. Key Takeaways What are Trip, Anna, and Larry grateful for this year? A vaccine is out! Things are looking pretty promising. Trip is excited to get back to the “normal” fear. Over 80% of people don’t want to go back to the way things were. Trip was able to have dinner with his wife and kids. This is something he could have never done before! Jerry Seinfeld talks a lot about creating longevity in your career. What do success in life and your career look like? How do you go about finding these answers? This pandemic has helped us refocus our priorities on relationships and the important people in our lives. Success is about freedom and owning your time. However, there is a balance. If you have too little money, you don’t have freedom. And if you have too much money, you become trapped and lose your freedom. How do you escape the rat race while still doing something meaningful with your life? Larry knows people who would love to teach a class or speak on stage, and their employers say, “NO.” Yes, you make good money, but how free are you? It doesn’t take as much money as you think it does to achieve comfort and freedom. Anna catches Trip texting during the podcast. Sneaky sneaky! When Anna started on this path to freedom 15 years ago, people thought she was crazy and the journey to achieve this vision was very lonely. 15 years ago, Trip was happy he didn’t have to wear a suit to his job in Silicon Valley. Larry and Trip both remember the “casual Friday” days where you could wear what you wanted on a Friday. The pandemic has brought people’s mortality into focus and it’s making people question what’s really making them happy. Trip made the decision a few years back when he was in a horrible job to “stop being afraid.” As we go into 2021, what makes you afraid? High-level: Stop Being Afraid. Stop pushing it off and stop waiting for permission. People love to live in the fantasy of “what could be” and it makes people feel safe. But, why stop there? Why not make it a reality? Keep putting one foot in front of the other. What does legacy income really look like in network marketing? If you have a killer first year, should you expect that to continue? In this episode of My Extra Mile, David T.S. Wood chats with Anna and Morgan Richards about network marketing. More specifically, they talk about why it's not treated like a legitimate profession and what can be done, and misconceptions about how network marketers make income. If you've been on the fence about network marketing, this is the episode that could change your mind. You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in...   Anna and Morgan's podcast: The Anything Goes Podcast Why many feel the need to legitimize network marketing Why network marketers don't have the courage to own their profession How networking marketing impacts your spouse The journey of leadership in network marketing The raw truth about building a legacy income Why network marketing made sense as a career move for Anna Why the network marketing industry is dominated by women How different ranks come into play and impact you Why YOU should go into network marketing Why network marketing is frowned upon by so many   Why are so many people turned off by network marketing? Because they think of the inexperienced or the worst examples of network marketers as the standard for the entire industry. People come into this wanting a change or transformation in their life, but they lack the experience. They don't have the training and understanding. People form an opinion on network marketers who are in their infancy. What do Morgan and Anna do differently with their teams? How does it make an impact? Listen to find out. Success is about showing up—no matter what   When Anna left a six-figure job and threw herself into network marketing, she was arguably not ready. But she got to work. She was training women in a profession she didn't know and learning alongside them. She learned that she needed to take the pressure off of her “title” and simply be present. It was about being in the trenches with everyone else and failing forward. It was about showing up no matter what. Building a legacy income isn't linear   Every business has natural peaks, valleys, and plateaus—network marketing is no different. Anna's first year—working harder than she ever has—she made $400,000. Every year since then, they've done approximately $200,000 or so a year. Anna's highest income was her first year. Why? Partially because of when she started in the year and how different events and promotions can amplify the income. But they've earned multiple six-figure incomes in network marketing for seven years. Dropping from $400,000 to $200,000 is a normal business cycle. It's a process of learning and a challenge to overcome.   That's why it's important to understand the natural cycle of building a legacy income. It's about building a foundation and developing a team. Morgan and Anna note that while you're building stability and a solid foundation, you should keep your life simple. Ride out the peaks and valleys as you build your legacy income, so you NEVER find yourself in a place of desperation. Anna and Morgan continue to discuss how different ranks impact you, why you shouldn't make drastic lifestyle changes, and why comparison will take you out of the game. Don't miss it.  Why should YOU go into network marketing?   Why should you say “Yes!” to network marketing? Anna and Morgan have spent six years figuring this out and they're grounded in it. Anna points out that it's not a matter of if you'll do network marketing—but when. Everything is becoming referral based. You're already doing it.   Morgan points out that approximately every 10 years or so, the economy lets us know that jobs and security can be volatile. It is a necessity to have something like this to give you breathing space to fall back on in times of desperation.   The more good people that can find their way into the profession will raise the tide for all ships. It will continue to legitimize network marketing. Financial wellbeing and longevity will become more important. Ai and robots can't do what network marketers do. It's about taking freedom to another level.   Why is the network marketing industry dominated by women? Why does Anna believe she was destined for network marketing? Today we check in with Brad and Anna from Gig Harbor. Brad had called for help in early February saying Anna was oversharing details about their life together on social media. He says at first it was just pictures and a “play-by-play” of their activities but when he started getting messages from his friends about their private issues he discovered Anna was posting about their troubles and fights, and asking everyone for advice and support. When Anna comes on she says she is using the social media as a journal of their lives they can look back on when they are old. She also admits she likes the validation of hearing what her friends have to say as well as relying on their advice and isn’t sure why Brad is so against that. Things got testy but they actually agreed to go see our recommended therapist in Renton. Today we find out how that went; is it a good sign they are calling together…?

Brad from Gig Harbor has called for help with a situation with his girlfriend Anna. He feels like she is way oversharing details about their life together on social media. He says at first it was just pictures and like a “play-by-play” of their activities and he felt even that was too much, but thought maybe he was just less interested in the day-to-day of social and let it go. Then he started getting weird messages from his friends about their private issues and discovered Anna has been posting about their troubles and fights, and asking everyone for advice and support, and now Brad feels it’s an invasion of his privacy. When Anna comes on she says she is using social media as a journal of their lives. She admits she likes the validation of hearing what her friends have say but also sometimes really just wants to know that others are going through the same thing and to get their advice. Well, if she wants advice, here come the P1’s to give it to her, but it may be not the advice she wants to hear.

Greetings, and thanks in advance for expanding my already out of control TBR list! A friend and I just booked a two-week trip to South Korea for early November (leaving 11/3), and I want to do as much research as possible before I go, because I am SUCH a Hermione. I’m looking for books, fiction or non-fiction, that will provide me with context about the culture, history, food, traditions, and/or landscape of South Korea. I already have Wicked Fox and Pachinko on my list. What else can you recommend that will help me learn as much as I can? I’ve never been anywhere in Asia, and I’m so excited to go. My wheelhouse is pretty broad–I’m a fan of contemporary fiction, sweeping generational sagas, YA, and sci-fi/fantasy (though I’m not so much into high fantasy). For non-fiction I especially love reading memoirs, especially by women and comedians (Bossypants and “Are you Hanging out without Me?” being two of my favorites) and collections of essays. Thanks so much–I love the podcast and I can’t wait to hear your recommendations. -Julia 2. Hi Amanda and Jenn! Over the summer I’ve gotten into a reading kick of books with a certain madcap flair – like everything is bonkers but we’re going with it plotlines. I think Amanda’s recommendation of The Affair of the Mysterious Letter by Alexis Hall is what set me off so I wanted to ask for more please! Other books I’ve read in this vein would be: The Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger, Good Omens by Gaiman/Pratchett, The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, The Hitchhiker’s Guide by Douglas Adams – and I’m noticing a British theme here, which is fine to continue or buck! Thanks in advance. -Kelly 3. Every year for Hanukkah, I send my friend 8 e-books from Thanksgiving until the last day of the holiday. When Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins came out, we both absolutely loved it and read the rest of the books in the series. At the time, we also liked some of the books by Rainbow Rowell. I’ve had trouble finding another whimsical, fun, romantic, but well written series that has the same energy as the Perkins’ books. Any suggestions? Thank you! -Malory 4. I am looking for a book for my mom. She really likes fiction about all kinds of sports in which characters overcome hardships and stereotypes. Which is why she loved the Dairy Queen Trilogy by Catherine Gilbert Murdock. She has now read all three books several times and can’t seem to find anything else quite like it. Can you think of anything along these lines? Thank you! All the best! -Leah 5. I’m a long time listener to the podcast and have got many many recommendations from you both over the years, but I’ve only now come up with my very own personalised request… I’ve recently realised that I read police (and private detective) procedurals as a kind of comfort read/palate cleanser/go to for when I can’t think of anything else to read, or just can’t get into any other books. I’ve read loads of Sarah Paretsky, am obsessed with Tana French and recently really enjoyed the first 2 books in Susie Steiner’s DI Manon Bradshaw series, but I’d really love some recs for this kind of thing that isn’t written by a white woman. I already have IQ by Joe Ides on my radar, have read and loved everything by Attica Locke, and have put the Widows of Malabar Hill on my TBR – do you have any other suggestions for me? Bonus points if it’s a long ass series I can really sink my teeth into and keep going back to when all is lost. I read (and write!) a lot of psychological thrillers so really don’t need any recommendations in that department..it’s police and private eyes I’m after here, I think. -Annie 6. I’m a relatively new Insider, and have been loving your podcast through the past 5 months. Thank you SO much for making my TBR list super-long, and introducing me to so many books I might never have thought to pick up. As a side effect of the Read Harder Challenge, I realized that I love books of essays (who knew?!) in addition to my known-favorites of historical fiction, fantasy, murder mystery, and literary fiction. I just finished reading “Selfish, Shallow and Self-absorbed: 16 Writers on the Decision NOT to have kids”. I had high hopes for this book as a 37 year old veterinarian who has made this decision myself, which tends not to be a popular one with family or peer-group. I was hoping to find my brethren in these essays, but sadly only felt some mild kindred spirits calling from two or three essays. I was wondering if you might be able to help me find a character who speaks to me through a novel? I will say that the “single and driven” female lead intrigues me, but isn’t me. I’m happily married to a man who also doesn’t want children. Also, I do love kids (and truly enjoy my time with my nephews and god-daughter), so kid-haters are also a strong no. Some of my favorite characters thus far have been Kinsey Millhone from Sue Grafton’s alphabet series; Lindsay Boxer from the early part of the Women’s Murder Club series by James Patterson, Claire from the Outlander series, and Jo from Little Women. Thank you in advance! -Jennie 7. I always wondered why I felt no connection to action heroines. Then I read Sabriel and realized that I prefer down-to-earth, sensible protagonists who have a strong sense of duty. Tiffany Aching is the platonic ideal of this. I also recently loved The Bear and the Nightingale. My preferred genres are science fiction and fantasy. I’ve been especially loving “domestic fantasy” lately that takes place around the home, though a good adventure across dangerous lands is always fun too. Thank you! -Julia BOOKS DISCUSSED The Hole by Hye-Young Pyun, translated by Sora Kim-Russell The Birth of Korean Cool by Euny Hong The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon Heroine Complex series by Sarah Kuhn The Flood Girls by Richard Fifield (rec’d by Kathleen) Check, Please!: Book 1: Hockey, by Ngozi Ukazu Shinju by Laura Joh Rowland Rachel Getty & Esa Khattak (The Unquiet Dead #1) by Ausma Zehanat Khan The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert The Magnificent Spinster by May Sarton Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso

“We can be open, real and raw. But that doesn’t mean we’re living the lives we want to be living.” In this week’s episode of In My Truth with Sarah Riegelhuth, we’re chatting to Anna Massie. Sarah and Anna can’t quite remember where they met, but the general consensus is at The Entourage and/or at the League of Extraordinary Women. More info here: https://the-entourage.com/ https://www.leagueofextraordinarywomen.com/ When Anna and Sarah met, Anna was at a pinnacle point of business growth in her nanny agency. Anna began nannying at 14 and is now 34, and she might just be wondering: What the f**k am I still doing as a nanny? Now, Anna is in a different frame of mind. She’s building her personal brand as an online leader, and has a goal of the freedom to be able to raise children anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, where Anna is right now is riddled with fear. Fear is overriding Anna’s life, from financials to relationships to career, and it’s time to talk it through! Join Sarah Riegelhuth and Anna Massie in this episode of In My Truth as their conversation dives into fear, how confidence and fear co-exist, where fear relates to relationships and how fear fits into and around our spirituality. - Disclaimer: What we talk about on In My Truth tends to be very raw and can be triggering. Resources for support and help are included at the end of show notes - scroll down for more information. - Listen in to the In My Truth podcast as Sarah Riegelhuth and Anna Massie get into fear, spirituality and, okay, Daddy Issues. Like many of us, Anna and Sarah grapple with fear in many parts of their lives, and those parts are often all connected. How does fear show up in your life and how do you deal with it? Anna and Sarah also discuss the untruths they’re living with around: Being open and communicative isn’t the same as being truthful The resistance being in your truth brings out in others What happens when our inspiration goes away The 9-5 job ‘Shoulds’ Self-belief and self-doubt Growing up valuing honesty and how that manifested, often negatively How our truth can confront others How fear holds us back in business Shiny object syndrome Others losing faith in us due to past failures Fear of falling love versus a serial relationship-ist The lack of fear in a spiritual practice Fear stemming from comparison and measuring progress and results Believing we can have it all Reframing ‘failed’ relationships Business failure versus personal failure Choosing the life of an entrepreneur Choosing open relationships and expansive love - Remember you’re not alone, and there is hope, even though it may not feel that way at times. Talk to someone, a friend or family member and let them support you. Reach out to a professional. Do whatever you need to do to start your journey back to feeling good. Here are some resources I found on Google (because I am not a professional, these are not recommendations, just suggestions with love and empathy from me to you): Lifeline (Australia): 13-11-14 is a confidential telephone crisis support service available 24/7 from a landline, payphone or mobile. In 2016 Anna (not her real name) met the man who would be her future husband. It was amazing from the very start. Within a few months, she knew he was the man that she wanted to get married to, have children with, and spend the rest of her life with. She thought she had met the man of her dreams. Soon after, Anna unexpectedly fell pregnant. They got married and everything was great until about six months into the pregnancy when things started to change. For example, her husband wouldn't allow her to watch TV and he suddenly started reading the bible (when he had never been that religious beforehand). At 35 weeks pregnant, Anna found out about her husband's mental illness after a passing question from her mother in law. She asked Anna if her son had been taking his medication. When Anna returned home, she questioned him about the medication and he told her if she didn’t stop asking he would stab her pregnant stomach. Anna then found the medication and did some research. She discovered her husband had schizophrenia. Anna refers to the day her son was born as the day she lost her husband. He didn’t hold their son, didn’t bathe him, and didn’t connect with him at all. In the months that followed Anna and her husband broke up several times. She left him for good when their son was 7 months old. In this episode, Anna shares her story. We also discuss... How she managed the separation as well as becoming the primary carer for her son's father and manager of all his appointments. Facilitating a relationship between father and son. How she has coped over the last few years and how her ex became someone she didn't even know. Dealing with the relapses.    Dealing with guilt. The worry she has that her son will grow up and blame her for not helping his father. The fear of dating. The stigma of being a single mum. Looking after ourselves. And so much more! Anna has been through a lot over the last three years, but what is most remarkable is her positive attitude. Through hard work, dedication, passion, and happiness, you can create a small empire that supports and lifts you up! It’s totally possible, even if it might seem out of your grasp right now. But that’s just what my guest, CEO of Classy Career Girl Anna Runyon, has done. When Anna left college, she started with the first job that came along, but after 8 years of consulting, she knew that something was missing. That’s when she started writing a blog… and her entire life changed. Nowadays, online business is a pretty saturated market. But it’s still possible to stand out from the crowd by being uniquely you. And it’s so important to remember that people aren’t buying what you’re selling because it’s there, they’re buying from you. Classy Career Girl has changed since Anna launched it in 2010. For her, regularly evaluating how happy you are with your business is vital for success. Because if you’re not happy, that’s going to shine through. In the same vein, that’s why you should always be passionate about what you’re doing; passion leads to confidence. Anna has built Classy Career Girl from the ground up, experimenting with different social media sites and deciding which ones work best for her. Once she established an audience and business, she created a membership site that has let her have a lot more freedom as an entrepreneur. Building a business around your family life is challenging. Anna gives us some of her best tips for balancing raising small children while creating an empire. She also lets us in on what it’s like working with her husband. What are you passionate about? How can you take imperfect action today? Do you know where your ideal audience hangs out online? In This Episode: How you can stand out from a crowded market by being yourself Why you should always be evaluating your happiness levels with your business What social media sites you should be on How you can gain and build your own confidence through passion How creating a membership site allows you more freedom as an entrepreneur What are some ways of building your business around having a family How you can balance your business and romantic relationship with your husband or loved one   Quotes: “Nothing happens overnight. It’s a lot of imperfect action and baby steps along the way.” (5:06) “Confidence really comes from also being passionate about what you’re doing. So being fulfilled and finding that career fit, too.” (16:54) “I think there’s always more fulfillment and there’s always more happiness. And there’s always more purpose that I’m exploring, too. So I don’t think I would want to be 100% fulfilled right now because then I wouldn’t know what else to do.” (31:08) Links Join the CLASS by Classy Girl Waitlist  Find Anna Runyon Online Follow Anna Runyon on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Pinterest   Sign Up for My Free Webinar: The 5 Step Framework to Building Your Profitable Service-Based Business Join From Side Hustle to CEO on Facebook Keep up with everything Women In Business Follow me, Dr. Cortney Baker on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | LinkedIn KidsCare Home Health   Are you a female millennial entrepreneur who wants to start or scale your service-based business but not sure where to start? Alright - well, happy Mother’s Day.Do you know the history of Mother’s Day?Mother’s Day in the U.S. was started by Anna Jarvis and was first celebrated in 1908,When Anna held a memorial for her mother, Ann, at St Andrew Methodist Church.Anna’s mother, Ann, was a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the Civil War.Ann created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues.Anna worked tirelessly to make Mother’s Day an official holiday,And in 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in May to honor mothers.Well, soon after this, Hallmark started making Mother’s Day cards,And people started buying gifts and cards for their mother.Anna started a movement at that time to boycott Mother’s Day,Stating it was a day to honor your mother with a hand written letter,Instead of buying cards and gifts for your mother.Anna threatened lawsuits and protested at candy makers’ conventions,As well as meetings of American War Mothers. She was arrested several times for disturbing the peace because what she intended for honor,Became a tool for profit.I shopped for my mother this week and wanted to get her something out of the ordinary.I didn’t want to get mom just any gift, so I searched for something I thought would fit her personality and our relationship.Mom and I honor one another with our words and actions and I know that I didn’t need to buy her anything. However, I wanted to.I wanted to get her the perfect gift. And the more I thought about it and looked I realized,Knowing mom, whatever I got her, she would love.So I wasn’t under any pressure to find the perfect gift.Which then freed me up to really enjoy looking for stuff to get mom for Mother’s Day…Out of the ordinary stuff…Because its not that I get mom the perfect gift,But that I love mom and want to honor her - that means the most to mom.And you moms out there,The struggle is real.Being a parent (not a mom obviously) i know to some extent,How it is to raise kids.I know the fear and uncertainty. The striving for perfection in parenting. There are times of exhaustion, times we struggle to keep our kids safe,Times we struggle to love our kids through their poor choices,Times we ask ourselves ‘Am I doing the right thing?’,Or ‘Where did I go wrong?’Well, I’m here to tell you this morning that we don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to get it right all the time. You don’t have to be the perfect Dr. Oz, Oprah, Ellen, Dr. Phil, Martha Stewart mom.Yes, you will get it wrong sometimes.Yes, you will be angry with your children at times.Yes, you will miss doing the right thing sometimes. We are not perfect.Your kids are not perfect.Listen to this verse - 1 Peter 4:8Do you hear that?Love covers a multitude of wrongs. Here is God’s inspired Word telling us that we don’t have to always get it right. In fact, we will not always get it right. And that’s ok, just love, because love covers a multitude of wrongs.A multitude of not getting it right…A multitude of imperfect.Look, the fac

Anna Elizabeth James loves making movies, and she's good at it. When Anna started writing professionally (her original goal was to write a novel, then her mentor led her to screenwriting), she knew she had at least "a smidge of talent" that she could nourish. The reason she knew she had that talent? Her high school English teacher, Mr. Jim Jordan (host of WYPN's Yearbook Chat with Jim podcast), had recruited her to be on his yearbook staff. In this episode, Anna shares life lessons, her incredible work ethic and how she honed her OCD into a superpower with hosts Jenica Hallman and Sarah Scott. In the era of Weinstein, #MeToo and Oscars So White, there have been a lot of discussions and much written about diversity in Hollywood. Although there’s a long way to go to achieve parity of pay and representation, it feels like a conversation has started around this. But what about those who watch films, review them and influence us, the general public, on what’s worth watching? There are painfully few successful female film critics and this is still an incredibly male-dominated area. Meryl Streep was asked about this, and commented that this discrepancy is "not disheartening, it’s infuriating.”  My guest today however, has been breaking the mould on film criticism for more than 20 years. She is Anna Smith, one of the most successful film critics of her generation, and the current president of the Critics' Circle. Anna writes for the Guardian, Time Out, Empire and a host of other publications, and appears frequently on Sky News and the BBC amongst others to review films, discuss breaking film news and comment on awards contenders. You know how sometimes you meet someone and they just zoom into your heart? That's what happened the day I met Anna Saucier with her sweet baby girl strapped to her chest. The two of them were an oasis of deliciousness in a sea of friendly but decidedly adult people. Anna and I got talking about her bumpy journey through infertility to motherhood, the realities of being mama to two small humans under the age of three, and what exhaustion does to your brain. Basically we were instant sisters. When Anna agreed to be my guest for today's episode of MamaFuel: The Podcast I was delighted. Not least because I know at least one mama out there listening will be struggling or will have struggled with infertility. If that's you, I'm sending you so much love. And hope in the form of Anna and another guest I'll have on in a couple of weeks. In today's (long but juicy) episode, @orchidfertilitywellness and talk about how to talk to couples living through infertility, the power of real talk and the importance of women being in tune with each other. Anna, who is Celiac and has been gluten free since 2002, discusses how she was able to begin following a healthy diet while also eating delicious foods to help heal her body and stay strong. Discover why the phrase, "If you have your health, then you have everything," is true on so many levels. The weight loss will come, but if that's your only focus, then the real health benefits will be harder to find. Eat Happy | Eat Happy Too by Anna Vocino Eat Happy: Gluten Free, Grain Free, Low Carb Recipes Made from Real Foods For A Joyful Life 154 delicious grain-free, gluten-free recipes that are also free of any processed sugars. There are meats, fish, sides, soups, starters, casseroles, slow cooker recipes, breakfast dishes, and even desserts to satisfy any sweets craving you might have, all with virtually no sugar. If you are low carb, paleo, are wanting to keep autoimmune issues at bay, or just want to lose extra weight, Eat Happy gives you comfort food where you won’t miss the sugars or grains so your body and brain can feel happy from eating real foods. In 2012, after almost ten years of being gluten free due to celiac, Anna Vocino found she was gaining weight faster than a tick on a labradoodle. Turns out the culprit wasn’t overeating or too much fat in the diet, but the pesky sugars and grains in all those gluten free comfort foods. When Anna started podcasting with Fitness Confidential author Vinnie Tortorich, she adapted her entire way of eating to do what Tortorich coined: NSNG—No Sugars No Grains. Sure enough, the weight dropped off, the inflammation due to celiac finally calmed down, and for the first time in her life, she learned what it meant to be truly happy about food. All of Anna’s recipes are delicious, easy to make, and so satisfying, you won’t even know you’re eating healthy. Craving rich, decadent chocolate pots with fresh cream that are delicious but not fattening? Wanna make a grain-free pizza crust that actually helps you lose weight? Dying for pancakes, but you’ve committed to avoiding carbs? How about hearty shepherd’s pie, tater tots, sizzling ginger rice, all made with cauliflower instead of high carb rice and potatoes? Eat Happy offers low carb comfort foods to please the entire family. Want more amazing, healthy recipes? Anna will be releasing her next cookbook, Eat Happy, Too: More Gluten Free, Grain Free, Low Carb Recipes Made from Real Foods for a Joyful Life on April 1, 2018. Intermittent fasting and how it might trigger certain emotions, thoughts, and the need to be controlling with food. Working with a functional medicine doctor for check-ups and treatments for hyperthyroidism and the different tests she has taken. How other people in marriages or relationships can work together to shift and accept the other person's decision to follow a No Sugars, No Grains diet. How you can become more vocal about the changes you want to see in the food industry. Her daughter being diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease and how Anna is helping her cope with it while also beginning college. Power Quotes From The Show "The idea of 'letting go of weight' has always been a vanity trigger for me. The real benefits are the health benefits and being happier by stabilizing my brain. Losing weight is everything to people, but it's really not. Losing the weight is the second benefit that comes after enjoying life more." - Anna Vocino "When I get emotionally involved, I just want to munch on something like almonds to help me deal with my feelings. That helps me calm down, but then I still have to isolate and deal with the emotional matter on its own." - Anna Vocino "Eat Happy is a recipe book that is intended to include really yummy food that is easy to make at home. Whether you are gluten free, low-carb, or grain free, it's for everyone." - Anna Vocino "Take things easy and be nicer to yourself if you go ahead and have a treat like gluten-free cookies. We have a tendency to want to beat ourselves up about our choices, but we need to calm down. If you beat yourself up too often, you're just going to end up binge eating because you're so emotionally involved about your food choices. " - Anna Vocino "Don't forget to increase your healthy fat intake if you decide to follow the No Sugars, No Grains lifestyle. People don't eat enough fat with NSNG because they're afraid they'll gain weight and then they complain about being hungry. Don't be afraid of fat; you have to get full by eating fats." - Anna Vocino Links From Today's Show: Anna Vocino Facebook Anna Vocino’s Eat Happy Facebook Group!
