Where you're from doesn't just shape you — it frames how you understand power, loyalty, and loss.Bun B is Houston to the core. Jeffrey Sledge carries New York City wherever he goes. And for Tom Frank, everything starts in State College, Pennsylvania — a town where fall Saturdays felt sacred, Penn State football felt pure, and Happy Valley felt like a place untouched by the rest of the world.Today's guest, Jay Paterno, grew up at the center of that belief system. As a former Penn State assistant coach, trustee, writer, and the son of the late Joe Paterno, Jay lived inside one of the most revered cultures in college sports — and then watched it unravel in public. He speaks openly about legacy, leadership, media narratives, and what it costs to stand inside a storm you can't control. Not from a distance, but from inside his own family. This isn't just a backward-looking conversation. Jay takes the same clear-eyed approach to the modern game — NIL, the transfer portal, revenue sharing, gambling, donor influence — and explains why college athletics is no longer what it pretends to be. His new book - BLITZED! The All-Out Pressure of College Football's New Era - pulls back the curtain on a system stretched to its limits, where pressure, money, and identity collide every Saturday. This episode isn't about defending the past. It's about context, consequence, and where the game is headed."Unglossy" is produced and distributed by Merrick Studio and hosted by Bun B, Tom Frank and Jeffrey Sledge. "I always say, you can't learn how to swim if you don't jump into the water. And it's so important for people to be able to jump into the water and to really test it out."
A Trapped Buyer is somebody moving off emotion instead of wisdom, staring at a chart like it is gonna save them. That is desperation, not Strategy. And understand this, that same spirit been hunting us long before the stock market. Trapped in the hood, trapped in poverty, trapped in jail cells, trapped in mental prisons. A system designed to keep you chasing instead of building. The market only exposes what life already revealed. When you lack discipline, you buy tops. When you lack patience, you sell bottoms. That is not a trading problem, that is a character problem. But once your mind get free, your money follow. Once you get knowledge, the trap break. The market stop being gambling and start being divine order. Numbers become language. Charts become truth. And you realize wealth is not luck, it alignment. That is when you stop being a Trapped buyer and start moving like somebody who understands Power, Purpose, and Ownership.Trapped Buyers | Wallstreet Trapper (Episode 172) Trappin TuesdaysJoin our Exclusive Patreon!!! James and Hector sit down with James Cadwallader, CEO and Co Founder of Profound, to unpack how AI is reshaping the internet and what that means for every brand on the planet.James explains why large language models are not just a new interface, but a fundamental platform shift in how people retrieve information. Instead of humans clicking blue links, user agents now visit the web on our behalf, read content, and answer questions directly. Profound sits in the middle of this change, helping some of the worlds biggest brands understand if and how they show up in AI answers, and then create content that is designed for bots rather than humans. The conversation covers what GEO (generative engine optimisation) actually is, how Profound uses a huge consumer prompt panel and reasoning models to map where AI gets its answers from, and why SEO teams are surprisingly well placed to become the heroes of this next era. James also shares his view on how ads will work inside products like ChatGPT, why this may finally break the search monopoly, and how he thinks marketers will work in a world where AI creates, distributes and measures most of their campaigns.James talks through Profounds rapid journey from idea to working with Fortune 10 brands, the fundraising story with Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins and others, and why this is the last company he plans to build. Ariel Harmoko is the Co Founder and CEO of Artifact AI. Ariel joined James and Hector for a conversation that moves from race tracks to reconciliation engines.Ariel grew up in Jakarta, was thrown into Go Karts at eight, and went on to race professionally all the way to Formula 3 alongside the likes of Lando Norris and George Russell. That early immersion in high performance teams, engineering and discipline shaped how he now operates as a founder. He shares how a love of maths and science took him to boarding school in the UK, then into machine learning research at Cambridge while still a teenager, working on early diagnosis in medtech and later deploying internal GPT tools at JP Morgan.Today Ariel is building Artifact AI, an “agent accountant” that sits on top of existing ledgers like Xero, QuickBooks and NetSuite. The product tackles two huge problems for accounting firms. Fragmented legacy stacks and chronic staff shortages. Ariel explains how their agents ingest data, reconcile, post to ledgers and learn from human review, and why accuracy, auditability and trust are non negotiable in this space. The conversation covers selling into one of the most conservative industries on earth, founder led FDE style implementations, why advisory is the real margin in accounting, and how vertical AI and agentic workflows could reshape professional services. At first, we wondered why Zane Rowe was once again leading us back to Continental Airlines. With notable CFO tenures at VMware and EMC—chapters rich with transformation—surely there were fresh stories to surface. But as Rowe began tracing the logic behind flight profitability, route modeling, and data-rich decision making, the relevance snapped into focus. His Continental experience isn't just a recurring anecdote; it's the lens through which he still interprets complex systems today. That early foundation made this discussion every bit as insightful as our last—especially as he connected those lessons to Workday's AI trajectory and the accelerating pace of strategic decision making.“I spent a lot of time in the airlines in what we called flight profitability,” Rowe tells us. At Continental, he helped build systems to understand which routes truly created value when full planes were still losing money, he tells us. That work, grounded in heavy telemetry and EMC technology, showed him how finance could move from reporting results to reshaping the route portfolio, he tells us.In his first conversation with CFO Thought Leader, Rowe walked through those early chapters—from revenue management at a post-bankruptcy airline to a bold sales pivot at Apple and multiple CFO roles in technology, he tells us. In this second interview, he returns to the same storyline but takes it one step further, drawing a direct line from that profitability model to today's AI-driven world, he tells us.Now, as Workday's CFO, he describes AI as an equalizer that lets small teams run multiple forecasting models and ingest far more variables in cash projections than before, he tells us. He points to “Everyday AI,” a company-wide initiative, and a cross-functional AI leadership group that pushes common tools, responsible use, and regular check-ins on what is changing in the work itself, he tells us.Rowe's finance strategic moment this year is “recognizing the importance of investing more into AI”—organically and inorganically—because peers are not standing still and customers want those capabilities, he tells us. With a total addressable market “in the hundreds of billions of dollars” and revenue “much less than that,” he frames leadership now as deciding where to lean in hardest, he tells us.

They also discuss where AI products are succeeding, how creating trust is an overlooked challenge, and why the next breakthrough will be more about fitting seamlessly into our routines than about being “smarter.” Check out The Next Wave YouTube Channel if you want to see Matt and Nathan on screen: https://lnk.to/thenextwavepd — Show Notes: (00:00) From NotebookLM to Huxe (04:29) Finding AI's Killer Use Case (06:33) Users' Unique Huxe Usage Insights (12:24) Proactive AI: A New Approach (16:02) Daily Brief Insights (17:21) VCs Monitoring Funding Opportunities (21:33) ChatGPT's Role in Everyday AI (24:43) App Adoption and Design Insights (29:20) Uniquely Human Skills Matter (31:11) Modern Childhood and Connection (33:27) Understanding Tech Basics for Kids — Mentions: Raiza Martin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/whatsaraiza Huxe: https://www.huxe.com/ NotebookLM: https://notebooklm.google/ ChatGPT Pulse: https://openai.com/index/introducing-chatgpt-pulse/ Factory: https://factory.ai/ Get the guide to build your own Custom GPT: https://clickhubspot.com/tnw — Check Out Matt's Stuff: • Future Tools - https://futuretools.beehiiv.com/ • Blog - https://www.mattwolfe.com/ • YouTube- https://www.youtube.com/@mreflow — Check Out Nathan's Stuff: Newsletter: https://news.lore.com/ Blog - https://lore.com/ The Next Wave is a HubSpot Original Podcast // Brought to you by Hubspot Media // Production by Darren Clarke // Editing by Ezra Bakker Trupiano
You can't negotiate the necessary. GOD don't cut deals on Discipline, and HE ain't lowering the price of elevation because you tired. If you want Wealth, Freedom, and Ownership, you gotta pay full cost—sacrifice, consistency, and execution on Days when nobody's clapping. This business game is spiritual first: your mindset is the altar, your habits are the offering, and your results are the testimony. Generational wealth ain't something you hope for,... it's something you become worthy of. When you accept that the Necessary is Non-Negotiable, you stop running from the process and start Respecting the Path. Every seed you plant in obedience becomes a harvest your family will inherit. This is covenant work. This is legacy work. And once you embrace the grind GOD aligned for you, you walk like someone who knows their abundance was already written. Get Noticed! Send a text.Every founder pays a coach. Some just don't call it that. They call it burnout. Bad hires. Marketing flops. Empty bank accounts and broken holidays.Bruce Campbell has a name for it: the Dumb Tax. And he's on a mission to help you stop paying it.In this episode, Bruce Campbell, co-founder and CEO of the Entrepreneurial Business School shares what 21 years of business coaching has taught him about why smart entrepreneurs get stuck, stay stuck — and keep bleeding money while trying to figure it out alone. You'll hear:Why “I'll figure it out myself” is the most expensive lie in businessHow hiring a coach is actually cheaper than doing nothingThe signs you're stuck in a job disguised as a businessWhat freedom actually looks like (hint: it's not a week in Bali worrying about Slack)And how Bruce's own business success led him to building a life-saving foundation in UgandaThis episode's not about theory. It's about what happens when you stop guessing and get help that actually moves the needle.

Imagine opening your phone, describing your dispute in simple language, and getting a clear, data-backed path to resolution—without weeks of confusion or a wall of legalese. That's the future we dig into with lawyer and legal tech builder Nicolas Torrent, who's helped design online arbitration platforms and shape Switzerland's legal tech ecosystem. Together we unpack how AI, user experience, and court data can turn access to justice from a maze into a map.We start with the hard truths: price uncertainty, physical distance, and cognitive barriers keep people out of court. Nicolas lays out how legal design—plain language, smart workflows, and visual cues—can guide users step by step. Then we zoom into the power of data: aggregated outcomes that help people understand their odds, timelines, and likely costs, improving settlement decisions and restoring trust. Speed isn't just convenience; it's an economic catalyst. When fair rulings arrive sooner, families and small businesses can move forward with confidence. We also explore a sustainable path. Nicolas outlines “profitable justice” that doesn't hide rights behind paywalls: think low-cost online small-claims settlement tools that offer realistic ranges based on similar cases, with an option to escalate to a human judge. Pair this with supervised trainee reviews, pro bono, and targeted lawyer services, and you get a flexible market that meets people where they are. Along the way, we tackle big-picture risks—AGI race dynamics, quantum acceleration, and geopolitical stakes—and why open source, distributed authority, security, and personal accountability must anchor any public system.Throughout, one principle stays constant: keep humans in control. AI should accelerate routine work, surface patterns, and translate complexity into clarity, while judges and lawyers apply judgment, empathy, and responsibility. If we design for inclusion, treat court data as a strategic public asset, and build with transparency, justice can become faster, fairer, and truly accessible. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend, and tell us: which part of the legal journey should be redesigned first?Send us a textEveryday AI: Your daily guide to grown with Generative AICan't keep up with AI? Too many companies see AI only as a cost-cutting shortcut, rolling out rushed AI deployments that frustrate customers. But the real opportunity lies in everyday AI: using it to handle what humans don't do well, so people can focus on what they do best—building authentic customer relationships. This week on The Modern Customer Podcast, Henrik Werdelin, founder of BARK, Prehype, Audos, and co-author of Me, My Customer, and AI, shares how everyday AI can transform CX. Highlights from the podcast: ➡️ AI Beyond Efficiency — Instead of just automating tasks, AI expands human capability and frees teams to focus on authentic customer connections. ➡️ Listening at Scale — AI makes it possible to instantly analyze thousands of customer comments, delivering insights that go far deeper than NPS scores. ➡️ Strengthening Relationship Capital — With AI, brands can build customer loyalty through three layers: depth (feeling seen), density (community), and durability (long-term trust). ➡️ Empowering Everyday Entrepreneurs — AI lowers barriers to entry, enabling more people to create businesses that solve real customer problems and build lasting relationships.
