Hello, hello, hello and welcome to the SLP Corner podcast! My name is Shannon Briggs and I am based out of Vancouver, Canada. I received my Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). I currently work at a private practice where I have a play-based, child-led therapy approach and strive to work towards functional outcomes! The goal of SLP Corner is to create a shared space to learn and share regarding all things speech, language, and social communication. I am a big proponent of evidence-based practice and try to make sure that's included in all of my posts. Feel free to connect with me further by checking out my Instagram (@slpcorner), blog (www.slpcorner.com) and Facebook page (SLP Corner). Talk soon, Shannon
The SLP Corner podcast is a fantastic resource for both current and aspiring Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs). Hosted by Shannon, this podcast covers a wide range of topics related to the field of speech therapy and provides valuable insights and advice from experts in the field. Whether you are a new clinician, a graduate student, or even a parent seeking information about speech therapy, this podcast has something to offer.
One of the best aspects of The SLP Corner podcast is the diverse range of topics covered. Shannon does an excellent job of exploring various areas within speech therapy, from evaluation and evidence-based practice to different settings and career paths for SLPs. With each episode, listeners gain valuable knowledge and perspectives that can inform their practice or help them make informed decisions about their future careers. Additionally, Shannon often features guest speakers who are experts in specific areas of speech therapy, providing listeners with valuable insights from professionals who have firsthand experience.
Another great aspect of this podcast is Shannon's approachable and engaging hosting style. She navigates conversations with her guests effortlessly and asks thoughtful questions that encourage deep dives into important topics. Even as someone new to the field, I find myself understanding complex concepts more easily through Shannon's explanations and discussions with her knowledgeable guests. Furthermore, each episode is well-structured and easy to follow, making it accessible for both experienced SLPs and newcomers alike.
While it is challenging to find any significant drawbacks to The SLP Corner podcast, one possible area for improvement could be increasing the frequency of episodes. As a listener eager to absorb as much knowledge as possible, I sometimes find myself longing for more regular content updates. However, it is important to note that quality takes time, and each episode released by Shannon is well worth the wait.
In conclusion, The SLP Corner podcast is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in or working in the field of speech therapy. With its informative content, insightful guest speakers, and engaging hosting style, Shannon has created a platform that fosters growth, confidence, and learning for SLPs of all levels. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a newcomer to the field, this podcast is sure to provide you with valuable insights and inspiration. I highly recommend giving The SLP Corner podcast a listen!
