In Today's episode of the CBL Podcast, William Wolfe sits down with Stephen Feinstein, Pastor of Sovereign Way Christian Church and United States Army Reserve Chaplain, to discuss Stephen's concerns with SBC Platform leadership on the issues of power, money, and biblical authority. #CenterForBaptistLeadership #SBC2024 #StephenFeinstein #Conversion #Pastor #Chaplain #Platform #Leadership #Power #Money #BiblicalAuthority Stephen is the youngest son of a Jewish father and a Roman Catholic mother. As a kid he preferred no particular religion, but instead did whatever seemed right in his own eyes. This all changed when he was sixteen years old. Although he heard the gospel from a neighbor many times before, he ignored it. But when he was nearly 17, he heard a gospel presentation from a pastor, which really got him thinking about his eternal fate for the first time. Over the next six months, he was searching for more answers, and when he was 17½, he received Jesus Christ as Lord. His life was marked by a divine transformation known in the Bible as conversion. He served in the teaching ministry as early as 20 years old, and became a pastor in 2008 at 30 years old. In 2007, he earned a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2017, he completed his Masters of Divinity at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2022, he completed a Master of Theology (Th.M) from Gateway Seminary, specializing in the exegesis and hermeneutics of early Judaism and its intersection with New Testament exegesis and hermeneutics. He is married to Bonny and they have been blessed thus far with two children: Rachel and Hadassah. In addition to being a pastor, is a Chaplain in the United States Army Reserve, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He current serves in the 311th Theater Signal Command. In our modern world, many men struggle with what may feel like a conflict between their careers and their faith walk. Men struggle with earning an income, sometimes even guilty about earning and income. So are men supposed to go to work and earn an income for our families, or leave the workplace and go be missionaries? The way we think about these issues, about money, about career, about the workplace, and about our calling is critical. My guest today, Brian Schulenburg, has been a pastor for several decades, and he is also a business owner in the world or real estate. He brings great experience to this conversation, so let's get started.Brian has served as Wooddale's discipleship pastor since 2018. This is his second stint at Wooddale, having served as our senior high pastor from 2001-2008. He spent a decade as the senior pastor of Woodbury Community Church. Brian has a heart for seeing people become followers of Jesus. From the time God captured his heart as a child, Brian has been introducing people to Jesus. He loves walking alongside others as they discover who God made them to be. He has served as a police chaplain with the Eden Prairie Police Department. In addition to his work as a pastor, Brian is a 3rd generation realtor, who has helped people buying and selling real estate all over the Twin Cities. Married for over 30 years to his wife Cyndi, the Schulenburgs are parents to four adult children. They are also grandparents. Brian is a graduate of Liberty University and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Brian loves being on the water of a Minnesota lake, fishing, playing disc golf, geocaching, board games, superhero movies, comic books, baseball and basketball. You'll also find him stocking books in the little free library in front of his home.Questions Answered:What does “Business as Mission” mean?Is there a separation between our professional calling and our Christian calling? How do I determine when to go deeper in a conversation? For a man in a rough job, how does he not absorb that and live as light in the darkness? Is there a conflict between earning money and serving him? Guilt of being wealthy? What are your thoughts on the story of the rich young ruler in the Bible? How do I share the gospel if I don't have a theology degree? What if I say the wrong thing when sharing the gospel?Do I have a responsibility to share the gospel in my life, or is that just for pastors?Should men quit their businesses and go become missionaries? What if a man knows his calling is not his job, what does he do?Why is it important to be authentically me in my workplace? As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Since 2020, Christians churches have had to navigate the rough waves of COVID-19. Covid brought no shortage of problems, questions, and controversy and there has been at times fierce debate within the church about how to handle the pandemic. Some Christians claim that the principle of “loving our neighbor” demands that the Christian community support Covid-19 restrictions. But does love require believers in Christ to stay home, wear masks, and take the vaccines? How can we best show the love of Christ for each other and for the world while still standing for truth?Dr Tim Yonts is an adjunct professor of philosophy at Liberty University. He holds a Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. In Christian Ethics from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. (twitter @yaboiyonts)

This week we will be talking again with Dr. David Baggett, co-author of Good God and professor of apologetics at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, about the doctrine of election and the love of God. Besides the main topic, we will hit on a number of related issues, like love and the necessity of free will, and the role that philosophy ought to play (if any) in interpreting the Bible. Most of this discussion takes place with a critique of Calvinism. Because conversations like these can be so divisive, Dr. Baggett wanted to give a brief statement to explain his motivation and to set the tone for the discussion. Here's the statement: I hope nothing here causes any discord or division; they’re just some reflections I have about the nature of God as essentially loving and what that seems to imply, and to my thinking they comport with the best biblical exegesis available, though I don’t claim to be a biblical scholar. To me this focus on God’s essentially loving nature seems a crucial part of moral apologetics, but I really do sincerely hope that those who may disagree with me on some of these issues don’t take any offense. It’s surely not intended. Christians of diverse stripes agree on much more than what they disagree about, and as Lewis once said, sometimes one of our disagreements is the importance of our disagreements. At times I’ve overstated the differences, and regret that, but here it’s my intention just to lay out how I see things, how some of the pieces fit together, and folks can do with it as they will. And if they disagree, that’s fine. There’s mental space and ample prerogative to do so, and I won’t be offended. But irrespective of our differences, as believers we all need to learn to love one another, and I only hope what I say here contributes to that rather than detracts from it. These discussions are important, but we’ve got to strive to avoid their becoming needlessly divisive.

She currently is a high school Bible teacher as well as Adjunct Professor at San Diego Christian College. Our special guest today is Dr. Kevin King. Dr. King serves as Associate Professor of Homiletics and Historical Theology at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Our special guest today is Dr. John A. Durden, Chair of Curriculum and Assessment at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. He shares his message on finding peace in a seemingly peace-less world. How can someone have peace when it seems that the world has turned upside down? In order to have peace, we must allow God to have command of our hearts. The way we allow God to command our hearts is by accepting what Christ has prepared for us. He has prepared a place for you and me in heaven. However, in order to be with Him, He prepared the way for each of us by shedding His precious blood on the cross. Because of the new life we have in Him, we should live expecting His soon return.
