POPULARITY
2. Key Players in the Rise to Power. Timothy Ryback introduces core players in the 1932–1933 drama. Gregor Strasser was critical to the NSDAP, balancing Hitler's fanatic nationalism with a committed socialist agenda, functioning as a popular coalition builder. On the establishment side were Chancellor Papen and Minister of Defense Schleicher. Schleicher was the political mastermind and "key power broker." Papen was widely seen as Schleicher's unintelligent "puppet." Also prominent was Röhm, who led the SA (Brownshirts). The SA was a 400,000-man private army of stormtroopers used for fundraising and fighting communists in the militarized German streets. 1933
6. Continued Defeats, Financial Ruin, and Schleicher's Strategy. Timothy Ryback discusses how the Nazi party continued its decline, suffering losses in Thuringia and facing severe financial ruin, estimated to be 90 million Reichsmarks in debt. A desperate push for a majority in the small state of Lippe in January failed, though Hitler publicly declared it a triumph. Simultaneously, Chancellor Schleicher, the political mastermind, actively negotiated with Gregor Strasser. Schleicher aimed to break apart the NSDAP by detaching Strasser's socialist faction from Hitler's hardliners (Goebbels and Göring), thereby creating a stable, centrist coalition. Strasser was acting to save the National Socialist Movement through compromise, not to betray Hitler. 1933
8. The Final Negotiations and Hitler's Appointment. Tim Ryback discusses how on January 30, 1933, Hitler required the support of media magnate Alfred Hugenberg (40 seats) to achieve the coalition necessary for Hindenburg to appoint him Chancellor. Hugenberg, who sought to be Minister of Economics, desperately opposed Hitler's primary demand: holding new Reichstag elections. Hugenberg knew elections would cost him his vital seats. After holding out until the final moment in a dramatic crisis outside Hindenburg's office, he was cornered and reluctantly agreed. Hindenburg formally appointed Hitler Chancellor at 9:40 AM. Hugenberg subsequently noted he had made "the biggest mistake of his life." Within 18 months, key antagonists Schleicher, Strasser, and Röhm were murdered. 1933 Retry
Was werde ich verdienen?"Schwarzarbeit?

Josh Strasser week 1 interview
(Lander, WY) – The Today in the 10 Mental Health Monday segment, which is hosted by Vince Tropea and airs on KOVE 1330 AM / 107.7 FM, continued today with guest Stacy Strasser. Strasser recently opened Harmony Mindshift here in Lander, (located at 1255 West Main Street) which offers two modalities, PSYCH-K and Bio-Tuning, that aim to "transform the mind and regulate the nervous system, enhancing a person's health and well-being." In addition to using the PSYCH-K and Bio-Tuning methods, the goal of Harmony Mindshift is to identify each individual's frequency that puts them into homeostasis regarding the autonomic nervous system, by using a gravity-free "Neuroacoustic Sound Chair" designed by NASA and software developed by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. While sitting in the chair, which emanates soothing sounds and vibrations, Strasser monitors the individual's heart rate, as well as potential transitions between the sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous systems, which indicate your fight or flight/normal stress levels, and helps determine whether or not you suffer from chronic stress. The software also determines the frequency of your cells regarding your autonomic nervous system, which, if too low, lets Strasser know there is "dis-ease" somewhere in your body and that it's time to go see your medical provider. I (host Vince Tropea) was able to test out out the chair prior to the interview, and while my heartrate was in the normal/healthy range and my cell frequency checked out fine, my 30 minute session proved that surprise surprise, this reporter/interviewer suffers from chronic stress. For most of the session I was in the sympathetic (fight or flight) mode, with one brief crossover into parasympathetic, which, as Strasser put it, means my body is currently "stuck in that chronic stress," but is capable of being receptive to the parasympathetic mode. Strasser then explained that individuals in this chronic stress mode need to address/alleviate it in whatever way that works for them (more dog walks and hiking/fishing trips are now planned for the future for me). My results. h/t Vince Tropea, County 10 To hear more about what my results mean, Harmony Mindshift as a whole, PSYCH-K, Bio-Tuning, the importance of decreasing your stress levels, how chronic stress is affecting our youth post-COVID, and more about Strasser's background, check out the full Mental Health Monday interview with Strasser below. The main goal of Mental Health Monday is to start an open dialogue about a number of mental health topics, and how folks are being affected on local, state and national levels. Guests range from psychiatrists, psychologists, school/drug/grief counselors, and any other professionals in the field, as well as testimonials from those affected by mental health issues, such as students, veterans, first responders, and many more. Part two is here, y'all! Mike is an exceptionally talented and fascinating individual. In addition to being an airline pilot, he and his brother Stefan run a cartoon series called Chicken Wings—featuring chickens that fly, though not in the way you'd expect. Mike also operates a retail store selling Chicken Wings merchandise and a variety of aviator-related items, such as patches, airplane models, and gifts. Join us, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!ABOUT MIKEMike's fascination with aviation dates back to his earliest memories. Every spare moment was devoted to building model aircraft, flying RC planes, or working part-time at the local airport, where he washed, fixed, and fueled aircraft. After completing an engineering degree in Electronics, he promptly pursued his dream of becoming a commercial pilot. He began with motor gliders and single-engine planes before discovering his passion for helicopters. This led to a 20-year career in Wildland Firefighting Helicopters, where he flew everything from a Bell Ranger to a massive Boeing Chinook. After what he describes as "having had a good run," Mike transitioned to flying for the airlines and is now a captain of a regional jet. His flying adventures have taken him around the globe. While he has forgotten most of what he learned about electronics, he has collected numerous stories and ideas for his aviation-themed cartoon, "Chicken Wings Comics," which he creates with his brother Stefan whenever he's not flying.www.chickenwingscomics.comwww.aviatorwebsite.comInstagram: mikeystrasser | chickenwingscomicsContact: info@chickenwingscomics.comREACH OUT!Submit your questions or aviation stories to the showContact: mannythecfi@gmail.comInstagram: climbvxBOOK YOUR APPEARANCE ON THE SHOWInterview availability dates

“This is an author who really has his finger on the way kids think,” The New York Times says of podcast guest Todd Strasser, the author of over 150 books, including the award-winning young adult and middle-grade novels The Wave, Give a Boy a Gun, and Fallout. He is also the author of the wildly popular Help! I'm Trapped series of books for young readers, as well as several other best-selling series and movie tie-in books and novelizations. His books have been translated into more than twenty languages, and several have been adapted for film and television. Many of his standalone books are pulled from today's headlines, exploring difficult themes like bullying, homelessness and school shootings. Join us as we talk with Todd about his influences as a writer, and his unlikely career turns writing X-rated fortune cookies (“clairvoyant contortionist is one who can see her own end”) and soap operas (“Guiding Light”) to become one of our most prolific YA novelists. Oh, and he also finds time to share one of the best pieces of writing advice he ever received, after struggling for a way to explain how the character of Cameron Frye managed to place a chair on the edge of a diving board, facing the pool, before sitting himself down in it, as he attempted to “novelize” a key scene in the “Ferris Bueller's Day Off” script: “You just cut to it!” Learn more about Todd Strasser: Website Twitter Facebook Summer of ‘69 The Lazy Person's Guide to Surfing (with Lia Strasser) Please support the sponsors who support our show: Ritani Jewelers Daniel Paisner's Balloon Dog Daniel Paisner's SHOW: The Making and Unmaking of a Network Television Pilot Unforgiving: Lessons from the Fall by Lindsey Jacobellis Film Movement Plus (PODCAST) | 30% discount Libro.fm (ASTOLDTO) | 2 audiobooks for the price of 1 when you start your membership Film Freaks Forever! podcast, hosted by Mark Jordan Legan and Phoef Sutton A Mighty Blaze podcast The Writer's Bone Podcast Network Misfits Market (WRITERSBONE) | $15 off your first order Film Movement Plus (PODCAST) | 30% discount Wizard Pins (WRITERSBONE) | 20% discount
In this episode, Laurie Hertzel, a distinguished professor of practice in the University of Georgia's MFA Narrative Nonfiction program, interviewed Emily Strasser about her book, “Half-Life of a Secret: Reckoning With a Hidden History.” Emily visited Athens in January to speak to our MFA students during their winter residency. In this conversation, she discussed her 10 years of research and writing about her grandfather's role in developing the atomic bomb while a scientist in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, home to the top-secret Manhattan Project. She also talked about her growth as a journalist while weaving together family secrets into this propulsive narrative that explores the long-term impact of nuclear weapons.
