In March this year, a team of Palestinian and Israeli filmmakers accepted the Oscar for best documentary. Their film No Other Land is a glimpse into the reality of life in the West Bank, the most populous of the Palestinian Territories. Before the month was out, though, one of the people on that stage - co-director Hamdan Ballal - would return home to the West Bank and be attacked and detained by Israeli settlers and soldiers. Times reporter Venetia Menzies went to meet Hamdan and his co-director and star of the documentary, Basel Adra, to find out what life is like now for Palestinians in the West Bank. On September 29, 1982, 12-year-old Mary Kellerman took one Extra Strength Tylenol capsule to ease her sore throat and mysteriously died less than four hours later. The same day, three members of the Janus family ingested Tylenol. Brothers Adam and Stanley died hours later. Theresa, Stanley's wife, experienced chest pain and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away two days later. In that span of time, two more victims – Mary Reiner and Mary McFarland – met similar fates. Shortly after, Paula Prince was discovered dead in her apartment All seven victims were living in the Chicago area; all seven had taken Extra-Strength Tylenol. Authorities determined the capsules had been laced with deadly potassium cyanide; a task force was promptly assembled; and Tylenol's parent company, Johnson & Johnson, swiftly removed products from shelves amid growing concern around the country. Soon, they introduced tamper-proof packaging that became ubiquitous for medications and other products. And yet, the crime remains unsolved to this day. One name loomed large in the field of suspects connected to the unsolved 1982 Chicago Tylenol Murders: James Lewis. Investigators could never prove he did it, but Lewis held a certain fascination anyway. Why? Who was this man – and could he really have committed such an evil crime? CBS Chicago investigative reporter Brad Edwards decided to trace Lewis's past to answer those questions for the docuseries PainKiller: The Tylenol Murders, on Paramount Plus. WARNING: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the 2023 WBD/DC Release of "The Flash” or do not mind hearing key plot points. The Flash is the highly anticipated installment of the DC Extended Universe. It stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash. Both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton play a form of Bruce Wayne/Batman. In this loose adaptation of the classic Flashpoint storyline, Barry goes back in time to try and save his mother, who was killed when Barry was a child. Instead, he winds up in a parallel universe and the threat of General Zod played by Michael Shannon. Sasha Calle stars as Supergirl. Marshall Harris of CBS Chicago rejoins the podcast to discuss what went right with the film, and what went wrong. There is not much debate as Harris shares the belief that this film had a plethora of issues. The guys discuss Ezra Miller's performance in The Flash, and the overall state of films based on DC Comics. They discuss DC Co-Chair James Gunn's endorsement of the film and the mixed reaction from fans in the early days of the movie's release.

“Sometimes you've got to choose to be happy.” When Jackie Kostek realized she wasn't going to get her dream job anchoring and reporting in Chicago, she decided to believe in herself and move to Las Vegas where she could do both full-time. Her leap of faith paid off; after less than three years on the air there, she's back in the Windy City, feeling stronger than ever about her choices and what's ahead. She shares with Jeanne how she knew it was time to go, the two methods she uses to help find herself and what she really wants, how coping with hair loss gave her power, what being in alignment means for her, and why she feels it's such a privilege to tell other people's stories while working on her own. About Jackie: Jackie Kostek is an anchor and reporter at CBS Chicago, covering news and sports. She was formerly the weekend anchor and reporter at KTNV in Las Vegas and a multimedia journalist at WCIU in Chicago. She was also the in-arena and digital host for the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Fire. After carjackers allegedly stole a pregnant Illinois mother's Volkswagen SUV earlier this month with her infant son inside, running her over in the process, local deputies said they immediately contacted the automaker so they could use its crash-response system to help locate the car via GPS. The automaker declined. The reason? The mother hadn't paid a bill, according to local authorities. The 34-year-old mother, who law enforcement officials haven't named, said she called the Lake County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 23 and told police that the accused thieves had taken her 2021 Volkswagen Atlas and that her infant son still in the back seat. In hopes of quickly tracking the vehicle down, detectives immediately contacted Car-Net, the automatic crash response system on the vehicle, the Lake County, Illinois, sheriff's office said in a report posted on Facebook. "Unfortunately, there was a delay, as Volkswagen Car-Net would not track the vehicle with the abducted child until they received payment to reactivate the tracking device in the stolen Volkswagen," the sheriff's office said.Detectives told the Chicago Sun-Times that Volkswagen Car-Net wanted $150 to restart the service because the mother hadn't made a recent payment. "Serious breach"Volkswagen told CBS MoneyWatch in a statement that it takes customer safety seriously and is "addressing the situation.""Volkswagen has a procedure in place with a third-party provider for Car-Net Support Services involving emergency requests from law enforcement," the German automaker said. "They have executed this process successfully in previous incidents. Unfortunately, in this instance, there was a serious breach of the process." After paying the balance on the mother's Car-Net service, police said they located the vehicle about 11 miles south of her home. The alleged car thieves escaped, but officers recovered the infant, who was unharmed, after the driver released him in a parking lot. The mother, who is six months pregnant, has a broken pelvis and a broken elbow, CBS Chicago reported. She is in a local hospital in serious, but stable, condition, authorities said. Support the showSign Up For Exclusive Episodes At: https://reasonabletv.com/LIKE & SUBSCRIBE for new videos every day. https://www.youtube.com/c/NewsForReasonablePeople

Warning: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the 2022 Marvel Studios film, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” or do not mind hearing key plot points. This is the sequel to the 2018 Marvel hit “Black Panther.” However, after that movie, the titular star, Chadwick Boseman, tragically passed away from cancer. The question that has been asked leading up to this film was when did Marvel know Boseman was sick? Did they plan for his potential passing in their script stage, and how would the film address his absence? That is the major debate in this review of this film. The production and performance were incredible. The film pays a proper tribute to Boseman. But the story of T'Challa, the Black Panther, is what the debate is about. Was T'Challa given a superhero death? Marshall Harris of CBS Chicago rejoins the show to discuss this film. He also offers a similar perspective to our review of the first film (Episode 88) in that Harris discusses what this film means to him as an African-American. The first 9 minutes of this episode present a tribute to the late Kevin Conroy. Conroy died on November 10, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. He was 66. Conroy has been on this podcast 5 times, and the tribute involves a retrospective.

Warning: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the 2021 Marvel Studios' film "Spider-Man: No Way Home" or do not mind hearing key plot points. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the 3rd Spider-Man film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is Tom Holland's sixth appearance in MCU movies, including Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. The movie is high on fan service, as characters from previous Spider-Man movies set outside the MCU make appearances. This episode asks the following questions: Are the fan service moments what makes it a great film? Is the story consistent with MCU Spidey movies? What about the ramifications that this film leaves on the state of the MCU? Marshall Harris of CBS Chicago joins the show for this review.
