As a skeptic, William never believed in ghosts or the paranormal until he purchased his current residence 18 years ago. His first experience was when he drove by the house with a friend, who said, “It's a lovely house, but who's the old lady in the bay window?” William saw no one. But his friend saw her – and several other people have seen her since. In his new book, 'The Lady in the Bay Window: The True Story of a Haunted Sheffield Home," William shares his experiences living in a very haunted home. In the book, he shares 25 stories of paranormal activity that happened in his house - from sightings of apparitions to strange footsteps, voices, and poltergeist activity. To help explain the strange occurrences, he brought in a paranormal investigation crew and a local spiritualist medium who came highly recommended. Together, they attempted to unravel the mystery of William's haunted home. After 18 years of living with paranormal activity, William still thinks of himself as a skeptic – however, now, he says he's a “skeptic with an open mind.” Today on the Grave Talks, “The Lady in the Bay Window: The True Story of a Haunted Sheffield Home,” Part Two of our conversation with author William C. Episode 71 DOE ID 'The Lady In The Fridge' Amanda DezaIn March, 1995, 2 scrap scavagers found an abandoned refrigerator in a canal area known as 'Whiskey Slew' in Holt, California. As they tried to remove the fridge, it opened revealing it's ghastly contents; the decomposed remains of a young woman. An investigation of the body revealed that the woman had been murdered; the victim of blunt force trauma to the head. Although she had no identification, police hoped that using the scant clues and items found inside the fridge, that they would be able to ID her. That didn't happen, and she became known as 'The Lady In The Fridge'. She was buried, and her skull was kept with hopes that it would one day help identify her. Years later, DNA & genealogy would ultimately give 'The Lady In The Fridge' her name back. She was Amanda Deza, who would have been 30 years old when her remains were found. Despite having a name for her, police didn't have much else to go on. They learned she was the mother of three children and that her husband had disappeared leaving Amanda to care for her children alone. Before long, she struggled and apparently turned to drugs, ultimately having her children taken from her home. After Amanda's children were removed, Amanda seemed to vanish. While her family had some ideas of where she was at time, she didn't stay in regular contact and eventually vanished altogether. They didn't report her missing because they didn't think police would do anything. Although they know who Amanda is, they don't know who her killer is and continue to dig for answers. It's theorized by some that Amanda fell victim to one of the countless serial killers that roamed the SF Bay area. 'The Lady In The Fridge' finally has her name back, it's Amanda Deza, and this is her story. The sheriff's office encouraged any member of the public with information about Amanda's case to contact their cold case unit at (209) 468-5087 or coldcase@sjgov.org.For all things DNA: ID, visit the show's homepage:DNAIDpodcast.comTo Support DNA: ID on Patreon, visit this link:https://www.patreon.com/DNAIDTo buy DNA ID Merch, visit this link:https://www.customizedgirl.com/s/dnaidpodcastFollow DNA: ID on Social Mediaon Twitter at- https://twitter.com/DNAIDPodcaston Facebook at- https://www.facebook.com/DNA-ID-True-Crime-Podcast-103667495017418on Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/dnaidpodcast/This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4720335/advertisement
EPISODE 178: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:42) SPECIAL COMMENT: Who knew? Clarence Thomas's family is apparently a living re-boot of the '60s TV Series "My Mother The Car" only it's "My Mother The Museum." That's the latest excuse from Clarence's pimp Harlan Crow, who says he only bought Clarence's mom's house to make it into a museum. And Trump actually answers questions in the Letitia James $250 Million case in New York. Meanwhile Jack Smith, reported yesterday to be on the verge of making up his Mar-a-Lago Documents indictment decisions, is now reported to be on the verge of making up his Election Overturning indictment decisions. And out of nowhere, the arms dealer we shipped to Russia for the release of Britney Griner says he's sent Trump a telegram saying Trump's life is danger in New York and he should flee to Russia and even if he's not serious HOW GODDAMNED GOOD AN IDEA IS THIS? B-Block (19:38) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Rhonda Santos MIA as Florida floods. Tommy Tuberville and others assume about the Woke Military and the leak, and Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson and others assume about the Tech Murderer. (23:00) IN SPORTS: The Tampa Bay Rays tie the record.Exorcism in the NFL as Dan Snyder sells. But College Sports brings back one of the worst people I've ever known in TV: Tony Petite. C-Block (35:15) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Cookie was found as a stray in Van Nuys, California. She was chipped. They called her 'human' - who never called back. Now Cookie may be killed.

There is a lot happening in the news this week. Mark and Nazir discuss the Conservative MP who was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault. They take a scathing look at the failings of both the police and the pathologist in the 1987 murder of Shani Warren, known as 'The Lady in the Lake', and compare those failings to similar failings in the case of Jessie Earl. Baby P's mother, Tracey Connelly, will be released from prison after the Parole Board rejected the Government challenge. Nazir and Mark look at the Parole Board's actions, how it operates and challenge some of Parole Board's decisions. They also take a look at the risks of social media, in particular the case of 52-year old driving instructor, Graham Mansie from Bromley, who “became besotted” with a 17-year-old student while teaching her how to drive. He went on to set up various social media accounts in order to stalk her and to befriend people who knew her.

Look it all went downhill after we heard 'The Lady'. Basically Mrs Hilton decided to plan a girls trip to Hotel Del Mar. Kathy calls Dorit to understand the situationship between her and Garcelle. To which Kathy has no interest in understanding ha ha. Anyway the ladies create a convoy at Kyle's house ready for the road trip - separate cars please because global warming. Kathy can't find her bag with her phone and she also doesn't know how to check her gas - ay dios mio! Ring Ring Kyle can you call the "Lady" to bring my phone and bag to 405 and Sunset Drive. ooohhh chil'. Sutton heads to the ER because her ankle is all Black and Blue, the rest of the ladies enjoy a pop up picnic and a show provided by the local seals. EJ drops another bombshell and uses the word 'ALLEGEDLY" to which we all gasp in horror (its almost Halloween). Sooo you're saying you lied ? Why do you have beef with Sutton then? so confused. Fentyway Garcelle arrives and lil mis Sutton is wheeled up to her room - its Black History month give her a break y'all. We find out that Sutton offered EJ a loan after the "DIVORCE", I mean that seems really small town of her, hey? A dinner is set, and basically EJ DGAF about Sutton! Garcelle is broken down like a horse, to satisfy the emotions and egos of the women around the table - because being the straight shooter with the direct honesty hasn't been heard or seen (I'm praying at this point because Jesus done wept). Just a mess y'all. The next day the ladies enjoy a sound bath, and then ping google alert/ Tom Girardi's brother is named the conservator for his estate and well for Tom. Because of his alleged dementia. EJ calls on Lisa and Kyle to discuss the page 6 article, and wait it for it - yep she's about to have a nervous breakdown!

Fasman talks about license plate readers, predictive policing, facial recognition software and more. "The question is: Is it worth the cost to our privacy and liberty to implement this technology? And if so, what limits are we willing to set? What penalties do we want for failing to observe these limits?" Fasman's book is 'We See It All.'Also, TV critic David Bianculli reviews 'The Lady and the Dale,' a docuseries on HBO.

Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809-1892) Another poem in which the poet has taken a story and adapted it. Tennyson was a great poet, if technique is a criteria of greatness. Try writing stanzas using the rhythm and rhyme scheme he does here and see how hard it is. He doesn't put a foot wrong if you pronounce glow'd/trode/flow'd/rode to rhyme. There's a sung version by Loreena Mckennit which brings out how melodious the lyric is far better than any reading can. But being a great technician is not everything and for all the memorable lines, there's something unpleasant about the story which is characteristic of Tennyson's treatment of Arthurian material in general and the women in the stories in particular. You are almost compelled to read the poem as a metaphor because as a story about people, even people in a fantasy pseudo-medieval world of magic, it doesn't work unlike Keats' ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci'. The poem asks to be understood in a symbolic fashion. But precisely what is symbolised isn't clear and attempts to naturalise it, one essay on the web claims ‘she freezes to death as she floats down the river', emphasise how unreal it is. it's not irrelevant that so many male painters in the 19th century liked painting dead women or that this particular story was so attractive to them. (Do a google image and you'll see how popular the subject was.) There are two versions of the poem. One published in 1833, one in 1842. The earlier poem has an extra verse and ends: They cross'd themselves, their stars they blest, Knight, minstrel, abbot, squire, and guest. There lay a parchment on her breast, That puzzled more than all the rest, The wellfed wits at Camelot. 'The web was woven curiously, The charm is broken utterly, Draw near and fear not,—this is I, The Lady of Shalott.' which is awful and a tribute to Tennyson that he cut it. Although it may not have been his source, it's revealing to compare this poem to Malory's story of Elaine of Ascolat. The comparison illuminates the limitations of Tennyson's version. Tennyson may have been a great technician, but Malory was great.
Built in 1900, the old Bullitt County courthouse was ground zero for one of the most deadliest train crashes in the history of Kentucky in December 1917. Two trains full of people who had been out Christmas shopping collided approximately 40 feet from the building. While the injured were taken to nearby churches and hospitals the dead were brought to the courthouse. Since the deadly crash 'The Lady in Lace' has been spotted inside the courthouse and people claim to see and hear strange things inside the building. Rather, the book offers a subtle recontextualization of Holiday’s life. It presents a vivid portrait of an iconic jazz artist not known for piety or ties to organized religion. Fessenden does investigate in greater detail than previous books the influence of Holiday’s Catholic upbringing, in particular her two stints at the . Mixing elements of biography with the history of race and American music, she will explore the multiple religious influences on Holiday’s life and sound, including her time spent as a child in a Baltimore convent, the echoes of black Southern churches in the blues she heard in brothels, the secular riffs on ancestral faith in the poetry of the Harlem Renaissance, and the Jewish songwriting culture of Tin Pan Alley. Growing out of Fessenden’s most recent publication, Religion Around Billie Holiday (Penn State UP, 2018), the lecture aims to illuminate the power and durability of religion in the making of an American musical icon. Tracy Fessenden holds the Steve and Margaret Forster Professorship in Comparative Mythology at Arizona State University, where she is a member of the faculty of Religious Studies. She is a scholar of American religion and the secular who focuses on literature and the arts in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In addition to Religion Around Billie Holiday, Fessenden is the author of Culture and Redemption: Religion, the Secular, and American Literature (Princeton UP, 2007) and co-editor of The Puritan Origins of American Sex: Religion, Sexuality, and American Literature (Routledge, 2001), and Religion, the Secular, and the Politics of Sexual Difference (Columbia UP, 2013). On the 20th of September 2004, a group of walkers were travelling along the Pennine Way in North Yorkshire. They had been climbing up the Pen Y Ghent fell when they stopped for a rest next to some caves called Sell Gill Holes. This is when they noticed something odd in the stream. They looked closer and discovered that it was the body of a woman face down in the stream. This would begin an investigation into the identification of the unknown woman that had come to be known 'The Lady of the Hills'. This investigation would last 15 years before new technology and police determination cracked the case.Important information provided by:https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/lady-of-the-hills-thai-woman-identified-as-mystery-body-found-in-pennines-15-years-ago-a4095201.htmlttps://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8666819/lady-of-the-hills-body-identified-murder-investigation/ (https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8666819/lady-of-the-hills-body-identified-murder-investigation/)https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/crime/this-is-the-portsmouth-life-of-the-lady-of-the-hills-the-thai-mother-of-three-whose-mystery-death-sparked-a-15-year-investigation-1-8867581https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-47623296https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6824585/Lady-Hills-identified-15-years-Thai-bride-British-husband-denies-killing-her.htmlhttps://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/analysis/she-was-a-lovely-woman-friends-of-thai-mother-of-three-who-sparked-15-year-lady-of-the-hills-mystery-speak-out-1-9692945https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/01/25/lady-hills-mystery-could-soon-solved-thai-woman-claims-body/https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-46287954https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/lamduan-armintage-yorkshire-dales-woman-found-lady-of-the-hills-a8830846.htmlMusic by: www.dl-sounds.com (http://www.dl-sounds.com/)Follow us on social media:Twitter- @theunseenpodFacebook- The Unseen Podcast
