E' vero che Il profumo della griglia non proviene da legna pregiata ma da una reazione chimica dove l'extravergine fa la sua parte?

Ve la ricordate la “ritrovata credibilità internazionale” dell'Italia rivendicata dalla presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni e dai membri della maggioranza? Il Times, probabilmente il più autorevole quotidiano britannico, si è dedicato alla riforma costituzionale sul premierato con cui il governo vorrebbe modificare la Costituzione. Il quotidiano parte dall'intervento in aula della senatrice a vita Liliana Segre che ha contestato il metodo ("una prova di forza”) e il merito ("una sperimentazione temeraria”) parlando di una riforma che "produce un'abnorme lesione della rappresentatività del Parlamento, perché si pretende di creare a qualunque costo una maggioranza al servizio del presidente eletto, attraverso artifici maggioritari tali da stravolgere al di là di ogni ragionevolezza le libere scelte del corpo elettorale”. Per il Times “Giorgia Meloni ha in programma di rivedere la Costituzione per dare maggiori poteri ai futuri leader italiani, sostenendo che l'attuale sistema lascia i primi ministri in preda a complotti di partito”. Nel pezzo si ricorda anche come la regola del premio di maggioranza “riecheggi una legge introdotta da Benito Mussolini, il dittatore fascista per darsi più potere”, riferendosi alla legge Acerbo “prima di chiudere del tutto il Parlamento”. L'opinione della redazione del Times dalle nostre parti verrebbe bollata come un estremismo, sarebbe accusata di voler accendere la violenza e probabilmente sarebbe la miccia per inviare lettere di avvocati e forse si concluderebbe con un querela, foss'anche temeraria. Abstract: Peripheral nerve stimulation is used in both clinical and fundamental research for therapy and exploration. At present, non-invasive peripheral nerve stimulation still lacks the penetration depth to reach deep nerve targets and the stimulation focality to offer selectivity. It is therefore rarely employed as the primary selected nerve stimulation method. We have previously demonstrated that a new stimulation technique, Temporal Interference (TI) stimulation, can overcome depth and focality issues. Here, we implement a novel form of TI, bilateral TI (bTI) stimulation, for bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation in rodents and humans. Pairs of electrodes are placed alongside both hypoglossal nerves to stimulate them synchronously and thus decrease the stimulation amplitude required to activate hypoglossal-nerve-controlled tongue movement. Comparing bTI stimulation with unilateral TI stimulation, we show that it can elicit the same behavioral and electrophysiological responses at a reduced stimulation amplitude. Traditional transcutaneous stimulation evokes no response with equivalent amplitudes of stimulation. During first-in-man studies, TI stimulation was found to be well-tolerated, and to clinically reduce apnea-hypopnea events in a subgroup of female patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). These results suggest a high clinical potential for the use of TI in the treatment of OSA and other diseases as a safe, effective, and patient-friendly approach. Il leader di Azione siccome è un moderato gli risponde dandogli l'indirizzo della sede del terzo polo e dice di aspettarlo per regolare i conti perché è un macho vero. E mancano solo cinque giorni al voto.

Here we report the validation of the TI stimulation concept in humans. We used electric field modelling and measurements in a human cadaver to verify that the locus of the transcranial TI stimulation can be steerably focused in the hippocampus with minimal exposure to the overlying cortex. We then used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate physiological changes in hippocampal activity during stimulation. TI modulated hippocampal activity during the performance of an episodic memory task. In an additional study, prolonged exposure to TI stimulation improved episodic memory accuracy in a healthy human cohort. È un albo illustrato stupefacente, originale e coinvolgente, con un rapporto testo-immagine di altissima qualità. Un picturebook come questo è crossover, cioè adatto ad essere apprezzato a diverse età: bambini fine scolarità primaria ma anche adolescenti e persino adulti. Leggetelo ai ragazzi e ai giovani senza un fine “istruttivo”, senza voler insegnare qualcosa, ma solo perché è un albo “bello” nella sua interezza e complessità. Saranno poi i giovani lettori a trovare i significati, a farsi “interpreti del testi”.

Abstract: In patients with focal drug-resistant epilepsy, electrical stimulation from intracranial electrodes is frequently used for the localization of seizure onset zones and related pathological networks. The ability of electrically stimulated tissue to generate beta and gamma range oscillations, called rapid-discharges, is a frequent indication of an epileptogenic zone. However, a limit of intracranial stimulation is the fixed physical location and number of implanted electrodes, leaving numerous clinically and functionally relevant brain regions unexplored. Here, we demonstrate an alternative technique relying exclusively on nonpenetrating surface electrodes, namely an orientation-tunable form of temporally-interfering (TI) electric fields to target the CA3 of the mouse hippocampus which focally evokes seizure-like events (SLEs) having the characteristic frequencies of rapid-discharges, but without the necessity of the implanted electrodes. The orientation of the topical electrodes with respect to the orientation of the hippocampus is demonstrated to strongly control the threshold for evoking SLEs. Additionally, we demonstrate the use of square waves as an alternative to sine waves for TI stimulation. An orientation-dependent analysis of classic implanted electrodes to evoke SLEs in the hippocampus is subsequently utilized to support the results of the minimally-invasive temporally-interfering fields. The principles of orientation-tunable TI stimulation seen here can be generally applicable in a wide range of other excitable tissues and brain regions, overcoming several limitations of fixed electrodes which penetrate tissue.
