Walking across a tightrope suspended hundreds of metres above a lake sounds like a terrifying nightmare for most people. But for Gavin Alexander Lewis it is a way to focus and relax. Alexander Lewis, along with fellow highliner Angelo Swan, both from Queenstown feature in the documentary Flow State, streaming on TVNZ+. The film is the project of three Massey University students, and centres on the two friends pushing each other in the sport, as well as the role it has had in their mental wellbeing.

Kansas authorities have charged a man with murder after the body of a 19-year-old female and unborn child was found in the trunk of a car last week. KWCH reports that Alexander Lewis, 22, appeared in court on Wednesday. He heard the charges against him that included first and second-degree murder. Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Zaiylah Bronson. Wichita police also said she was pregnant. The Wichita Police Department began looking for Bronson last Saturday after receiving a phone call from one of Lewis' family members in North Carolina stating that he may have harmed her. The 22-year-old suspect is currently being held on $500,000 bond. Friends and family of Bronson have started a GoFundMe with the money raised going to funeral arrangements for the 19-year-old. Alexander Lewis is currently rehearsing for our production of The Merry Widow, returning as Count Danilo after originating the role in this production to great acclaim in 2017. The Australian tenor, known both for his performances in opera and musical theatre, has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, The Metropolitan Opera and Komische Oper Berlin. In this interview with our Artistic Director, Lyndon Terracini, Lewis talks about growing up with Australian operatic royalty, returning to rehearsals after an eight-month break, and finding his own way into the world of music.

She’s also a leader in ‘Athletes and Advocates for Workers,’ a movement that’s pressured Georgetown’s administration and athletic department to confront Nike sweatshop abuses. Despite the school's long and entwined relationship with Nike, Teare and her cohort are winning. Then, comedian W. Kamau Bell has a new CNN program, ‘United Shades of America,’ debuting Sunday at 10 Eastern. We will find out why he is interviewing Klansmen on deserted country roads and what the mission is of this altogether original show. Then, a column read about Steph Curry's small- but significant- stand against anti-LGBT legislation in North Carolina. Finally, our ‘Just Stand Up’ award comes in defense of Cardale Jones, a man who deserves nothing but a larger platform for his critical views of big time college football.
