Since forming in 2010, Texas instrumental outfit Polyphia have taken the world by storm, redefining the instrumental side of music by combining intricate guitar riffs with hip-hop rhythms, bass-heavy trap music, and progressive metal and rock influences. It is a blending of styles that has seen Polyphia release three studio albums to date, with a fourth, Remember That You Will Die, slated for release on October 28.This time around Polyphia have recorded collaborations with $not, Chino Moreno (Deftones), Brasstracks, Steve Vai and more, adding another element to their sound and potentially reaching an even wider audience in the process.Guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage joined HEAVY to chat about the album."It's definitely our most ambitious release to date," Henson said confidently. "Obviously, if you look at the track listing you can see a tonne of collaborations spanning a tonne of different genres. Once you listen to the record hopefully you'll be able to tell that we have put in a lot of work on levelling up, whether it's our individual instruments, or the songwriting or the composition or the production or the mixing, everything was a learning process. It took us four years to make because we had to figure it out. It was very much like a giant puzzle piece, or like a marble sculpture where you have to chisel out every little detail; every little fine detail had to be just right. We're very proud of this record."In the full interview, the boys run through Remember That You Will Die in greater detail, talk about the collaborations with Steve Vie and Chino and what they each brought to the tracks, the sngles released thus far and how they reflect the album as a whole, the bands label as a genre bending instrumental band and what they mean by that, the clending of styles and how it works, future plans and more.

Ivan Jackson is the unique front man of Brasstracks. In this episode, Pat Tully sits down with Ivan to discuss his life in music and how his passion drives him. Growing up in a musical family, Ivan's Dad was offered the band leader job on one of the longest running shows on TV. He tells the story of how his father said “no” and how that led to even bigger moves for his family.  Ivan attended the famous LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, the performing arts public high school that inspired the hit 80's drama “Fame.” From there he continued his education and quickly went into business for himself producing music in a Brooklyn loft he rented with a friend.  That hustle would continue as he continued to make a name for himself, collaborating with the likes of international K-Pop sensation BTS as well as Mark Ronson, Miley Cyrus and many more. Soon a collaboration with Chance The Rapper would lead to 2 Grammy Nominations. Another with Harry Styles would lead to another.  Hear more about these stories and some great music festival stories here on this episode of FestivalPass Stories.    To find out more about Brasstracks and their music: Brasstracks website: http://brasstracks.co/ Follow them on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brasstracks/  Connect on Twitter: https://twitter.com/brasstracks   Connect with Festival Pass! Interview with Pell

Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Pell over Zoom video! New Orleans rapper Pell announces glbl wrmng vol. 1 — a new conceptual project out February 19th. GLBL WRMG is a new NOLA-centric collective launched by Pell and music professional Nate “Suave” Cameron of 20+ local artists and producers including Malik NinetyFive, Jzzle, Jelly of Tank and the Bangas, Lil Iceberg, Kr3wcial, and more. glbl wrmng vol. 1  is an ode to the strength and resilience of their beloved hometown and emphasizes the city’s heroic survival.“I wanted to make records with all my hometown friends that didn’t have to be just Pell records that could showcase the talent of New Orleans and what we had to offer,”Pell says.“I wanted to executively produce this record and then give us all something to call back on whenever we were on the road or outside of the city so that we could keep connecting and building together.”glbl wrmng vol. 1 aims to capture the beauty, vibrancy, and, most importantly, resiliency of New Orleans — a city that can attest to the harsh realities of climate change — while simultaneously showcasing the artists and producers who are reinventing (and heating up) the city’s sound. GLBL WRMNG will be rolling out community initiatives involving recycling and gardens to give back to their local neighborhoods throughout the year. The collective’s aptly titled debut “504” ft. Pell, Kr3wcial, and $leazy EZ is out today. The vibrant video is picture-perfect New Orleans and pays homage to local producer Niyo Davinci who passed away last year. An eclectic cast of characters dancing amidst beautifully colorful backdrops, the visual flaunts jovial, big band maximalism. As part of the “504” YouTube premiere, proceeds of the streaming will go toward Concerned Citizens of St. John Parish, a non-profit organization 30 minutes outside of New Orleans. The town has the third-highest COVID -19 death rate in the nation (among other shocking statistics) and the nonprofit's mission is to raise awareness about the high levels of Chloroprene in the atmosphere while providing solutions for the poor air quality.About PellGrowth is ingrained in Pell's nature. Since taking the industry by storm in 2014, the electric New Orleans native, born Jared Pellerin, has continued to expand his sound and musicality. His stellar Floating While Dreaming debut garnered attention and praise from press across the board, including FADER, Billboard, XXL, Complex, among others.. After touring with G-Eazy, in 2015 he released LIMBO, an EP produced by TV on The Radio’s Dave Sitek, developing his "experimental soul" sound to set him apart from his peers. Pell released his next EP, girasoul (4.5 million streams to date) via Payday Records in December 2017. The project featured collaborations from Saba, Imad Royal, and Vérité. Later in 2019, Pell released his second full-length album "Gravity," an ode to his hometown of New Orleans, featuring performances by PJ Morton, VÉRITÉ, Ambré, and Malik Ninety Five. The album documents his growth and pulls inspiration from different life transitions such as heartbreak and longing. Pell has toured with Kehlani, PJ Morton, Doja Cat, Brasstracks, Tory Lanez, and has performed at prestigious festivals like Hangout, Firefly, Pemberton. We want to hear from you! Another week, the same old bullshit. Police in Wisconsin shot Jacob Blake 7 times in the back a couple of days ago - Black lives STILL matter and this NEEDS to stop. Once we got that off our chests, we got into some more info about Jaguar Wright's accusations (this time against Summer Walker for being "touched"), Meg Thee Stallion admitting it was Tory Lanez who shot her, and the very odd Math Hoffa vs Method Man "battle" video. As far the new tunes, we got into cuts from Trey Songz, Headie One x AJ Tracey x Stormzy, Sevana, Bliss N Eso, Pharrell x Jay-Z, Nas x Hit Boy LP, Mariah Carey x Lauryn Hill, Vic Mensa, Amber Mark, Sango, London Grammar, Govales, Busta Rhymes x Vybz Kartel, Protoje x Wiz Khalifa, RZA x Ghostface, The Lox x DMX, Rock Abruham x Quelle Chris, Brasstracks x Masego x Common, and Nao x Lianne La Havas. What a week! ARTISTS: Contact info@illnotestudios.com for the production/mixing/mastering opportunity. Theme tune produced by Notion. Track list - http://iamcomplexion.com/future-beats-radio-076-w-stooki-sound-interview/ Thank you guys for another incredible show; you guys showing love on Twitter to @FutureBeatsRec makes it all worth it. Right in the middle of the show Sevnth Wonder sent his brand new remix of Elhae's 'Halfway Love' and I had to press play immediately without even previewing it myself. This week we played brand new music from Chloe Martini, Jay Prince, Jo Def, SPZRKT & Sango! We had Blackbird Blackbird as this week's Planet Next playing 3 tracks back to back from them before jumping into this week's interview. They have been tearing up stages from LDN to USA with their unique combination of trap, grime, dubstep and garage which is infamously known as @StookiSound! @Yazbeatz spoke to them about their @Goldlink remix; their forthcoming USA tour and how they formulate a track in the studio.Yazbeatz is uploading extended versions of our previous interviews on his Soundcloud as a part of his #IntoTheFuture series on www.soundcloud.com/yazbeatz Last but by no means least; the first track of Planet Ex this week was an exclusive from Boy/Friend which was produced by MNTN; make sure you pay attention to that! Finally; thank you so much for last week's reception to the new Sevnth Wonder single featuring Capsun and Brasstracks; the 93 To Infiniti EP is available to pre-order now: https://fbsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/93-to-infiniti Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Track list - http://iamcomplexion.com/future-beats-radio-075-w-mistermcclenney-sweet-grooves/ Thank you for all the love for last week's Troyboi interview! This week was no different with another jam packed show with the exclusive and good vibes. Trapdoor Records were kind enough to give us the very first play of Maydien‘s ‘Foreign Trance' featuring Waldo & The Sevnth as well as Solboi‘s ‘Mako' which is set to be a joint FBR X Trapdoor release. Each week we search the Soundcloud galaxy for the finest undiscovered music and the Darker Than Wax family let us spin their new project ChefRed ‘QT' right before the embark on their Brazil tour! Our Planet Next feature this week is internationally known as Boston's favourite tiger; he's one of Soundcloud's Premier Partners and just released a track called “Higher Love” exclusively for their official blog featuring Tokyo Megaplex and Stel Leo! We are of course talking about Sevnth Wonder! In addition to all of that he's recently been featured on the Heroic Recordings X Rockforce Records compilation with his ‘1995' track and is releasing an EP with Future Beats Records. So it was our humble pleasure to premiere the first single ‘Silk Road' featuring CAPSUN & Brasstracks which is the first track that Complexion ever reloaded on Future Beats Radio since it's conception. Our guest mix this week was by the amazing brazilian DJ duo Sweet Grooves who especially included Soundpalette‘s Diamonds & Pearls into the set! They kept the mix club friendly with tracks from Gravez, Promnite & Falcons, Tek.Lun, Patchwork and J-Louis too! Last but no means least, FBR Co-Pilot Yazbeatz caught up with Chris McClenney ahead of his Soulection live show to discuss the difference between composing and producing as well as where his Neo-Soul influences stem from! The Flow-Fi / Soulection producer spoke about his decision to change his name from MisterMack to Chris McClenney and his approach to remixing! All of this and tonnes of good vibes in this week's show!
