This episode is an audio recording of a recent online event called “The Intersectional Lives of Transgender Adoptees” (2021.04.26), organized by the adult adoptee organisation Also-Known-As, Inc., under the most excellent leadership of Korean adoptee Mike Mullen. In the first panel of its kind, Ryan, along with three amazing transgender intercountry adoptees—Pauline Park, Jin Jiang, Andy Marra—with facilitator and transgender Korean adoptee Min Matson, discuss what it's like being trans and an adoptee, including grappling with the current resurgence of anti-asian racism and anti-trans legislation, navigating birth family search and reunion, names, and more. This was an informative, insightful, and deeply personal discussion that evolved from numerous conversations between Pauline and Mike over the years and drew over 150 online attendees. The Dip, Also Known As "Toon Acid", is a greenish, ghastly chemical seen in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It's Judge Doom's preferred method of Toon execution. According to Lieutenant Santino, it's a mixture of turpentine, acetone, and benzene, which all of them are paint-thinners. Combined in the real world, they make up the solution hand animators used to use to remove ink from animation cells. This could be considered an inside joke, as your average audience member would not know what these ingredients made up. While relatively harmless to humans, any toon that comes in contact with it will melt instantly and is apparently the only surefire way to kill a toon (although Eddie Valiant gets most of The Toon Patrol members to laugh themselves to death). Hollee A. McGinnis, MSW, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Social Work. She is a prominent scholar, policy expert, and community organizer on adoption and child welfare. Her research examines social and cultural determinants of children’s mental health, with a focus on improving outcomes for youth and adults with histories of childhood trauma and involvement in systems of child welfare locally and globally. Her current study will explore adult outcomes of adopted and foster care alumni. Prior to obtaining her doctorate in social work at Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. McGinnis was the policy director at the Donaldson Adoption Institute, a national organization focused on adoption policy and practice in the U.S., where she headed a national study on adoption and racial identity among adopted adults. She received her Master of Science from Columbia University School of Social Work (New York City) and completed a post-master’s clinical social work fellowship at the Yale University Child Study Center. In 1996, she founded Also-Known-As, Inc., a non-profit adult intercountry adoptee organization providing post-adoption services to international adoptees and adoptive families. Dr. McGinnis speaks regularly at national conferences and organizations, and has numerous published scholarly articles, book chapters, and essays. In 2008 she was recognized by the U.S. government with a Congressional Angel in Adoption award for her work in adoption. She is regularly sought out by the news media including interviewed about her research on South Korea’s child welfare system and overseas Korean adoptees by the New York Times Magazine, BBC News, and NPR.

Christopher is the artist responsible for the majority of the Young Justice tie-in comics. He's also done about a million other amazing comics. Christopher is currently the artist on a Doctor Who: The Third Doctor for Titan Comics, written by long-time Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell.
