Was ist nun besser?
On The Cloud Pod this week, the team struggles with scheduling to get everyone in the same room for just one week. Plus, Microsoft increases pay for talent retention while changing licensing for European Cloud Providers, Google Cloud introduces AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, and AWS announces EC2 support for NitroTPM. A big thanks to this week's sponsor, Foghorn Consulting, which provides full-stack cloud solutions with a focus on strategy, planning and execution for enterprises seeking to take advantage of the transformative capabilities of AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. This week's highlights

The launch of Amazon Route 53 Resolver endpoints and forwarding rules has opened up a variety of exciting new options for managing DNS resolution, especially in hybrid cloud environments. This session gives a quick overview of the product before taking a deep dive into the design of Route 53 Resolver, including how it complements Route 53 private DNS and best practices to achieve availability and performance. We also dive into some new patterns that are emerging with services such as AWS Transit Gateway, AWS PrivateLink, and AWS Directory Service for Microsoft Active Directory.
In this advanced session, we review common architectural patterns for designing networks with many VPCs. Segmentation, security, scalability, cross-region connectivity, and flexibility become more important as you scale on AWS. We review designs that include AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Direct Connect, VPN, AWS PrivateLink, VPC peering, and more.
Join Dave Brown, VP of Amazon EC2 Networking at AWS, to learn about the new services and features we launched this year. Dave covers the entire suite of networking services, including Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), Elastic Load Balancing, AWS PrivateLink, VPN, AWS Transit Gateway, and AWS Direct Connect. In addition, Dave reviews some real-world customer scenarios and how AWS networking solves those in a secure, reliable, flexible, and highly performant way.
Looking to consume AWS PrivateLink-enabled services from on premises? In this session, we provide you with guidance on how DNS mechanisms can be used to route traffic as well as build resiliency for your connections into PrivateLink-enabled services in the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) infrastructure.
Everything is moving to the cloud, which makes it increasingly important to secure your cloud infrastructure and minimize the threat of potential attackers. With a virtual private cloud (VPC)—your own private network in the cloud that you can launch your own instances into—this can be done with VPC Peering, connecting VPCs together to create a path between them to keep your data safe and accessible to you alone. Although typically performed in a single cloud provider, it is possible to do in more than one—think of it as your cloud routerDaniel LaMotte (Site Reliability Engineer, Confluent) walks through the details of cloud networking and VPC peering: what it is, what it does, and how to launch a VPC in the cloud, plus the difference between AWS PrivateLink and AWS Transit Gateway, CIDR, and its accessibility across cloud providers. AWS PrivateLink is a networking service that allows you to increase the security, scale, and resiliency of your services. In this session, we review the way AWS PrivateLink works, best practices, and how to increase availability and security. We review how to set up both the consumer and provider sides of PrivateLink, use cases, and interoperability with other AWS services. Whether you want to consume services in a more scalable and private way or you have services you want to share with others, we help you understand best practices for AWS PrivateLink.
Join Dave Brown, VP of EC2 Networking at AWS, to learn about the new services and features we launched this year. Dave also share our vision for the future of connectivity in the cloud and the ongoing evolution of networking capabilities. Dave covers the entire suite of networking services, including Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), Elastic Load Balancing, AWS PrivateLink, VPN, and AWS Direct Connect. In addition, Dave reviews some real-world customer scenarios and how AWS networking solves those in a secure, reliable, flexible, and highly performant way.
In this session, we review how technology and consulting partners can utilize AWS PrivateLink, a networking service that allows for a service behind a load balancer to be privately placed into other VPCs as well as on-premises. You can use PrivateLink to help scale a SaaS service, simplify microservices, simplify the network connectivity of managed service providers, and create a more secure environment for partner products inside customer VPCs. In this session, we focus on the design and service architecture requirements as well as the business considerations for implementing PrivateLink for your product or service. We also hear from APN Partner, Snowflake, and its customer, ARC, about how they deployed PrivateLink.
Vanguard and Bloomberg's use of AWS PrivateLink as they moved from a small number of large accounts to a large number of small accounts reduced blast radius at the management plane but introduced significant complexity at the network layer. In this session, we introduce the type of network segmentation that is required to implement a zero-trust network for a highly regulated financial investment company like Vanguard-one that adds additional complexity.

PrivateLink provides private connectivity between VPCs, AWS Services and on-premises applications. Built with the same underlying technology that powers NAT Gateway, Network Load Balancer and AWS Service endpoints, PrivateLink is now available for use with your own applications. In the session, we'll do a deep dive into the underlying network technology that is used by PrivateLink and explore how PrivateLink can be deployed to improve your network topologies and application architectures. We'll also look at how PrivateLink improves micro-service architectures, allowing for services to be vended between AWS accounts and over DirectConnect connections.
Learn about the new services and features we have and that we are launching across AWS Networking this year. Learn also about our vision for continued innovation in this space and the ongoing evolution of networking capabilities and performance. Gain insight into how these new capabilities help everyone—from developers to enterprises to startups—drive greater security and reliability, improved flexibility, and higher performance. Join Dave Brown, director of Amazon EC2 Networking, and learn more about Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic Load Balancing, AWS PrivateLink, VPN, AWS Direct Connect, and more. In addition, we cover new releases and show how easy it is to get started. You leave armed with details of how everything fits together in real-world customer scenarios.
Many customers are hesitant to adopt SaaS solutions due to the concerns on the safety of the network connectivity traversing internet. It is also difficult to manage the firewall rules, NAT Gateway or VPN connections. AWS PrivateLink provided solution that let our customers' applications, whether in a VPC or in their own data center, to connect to SaaS solutions in a highly scalable and highly available manner, while keeping all the network traffic within the AWS network.
