The 2024 election is likely decided by a handful of states. Since 1996, Georgia has gone red in America's presidential elections, but that changed in 2020 when President Biden narrowly won the state by 0.2 percent of the vote. Now in the 2024 race, most pundits consider Georgia to be a crucial swing state. With a little over a month until the election, seven states have become the campaign's primary battlegrounds. Co-anchor of America's Newsroom, Bill Hemmer joins the Rundown to break down the latest numbers from the Peach state and what the candidates must do to win over voters. Two months ago, a software bug in a system update from the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike caused issues around the nation. It resulted in the grounding of thousands of flights, emergency services outages and internet blackouts. CrowdStrike Vice President Adam Meyers testified before the House Homeland Security Subcommittee about the widespread outages, and what steps they have taken to ensure this is prevented in the future. CEO of Applied AI, John Cofrancesco joins the podcast to discuss his takeaways from the CrowdStrike hearing, what steps must be taken to avoid further outages, and the possibility of a foreign actor hacking into American security systems. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- On Thursday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris held a joint event in Prince George's County, Maryland. During his speech, Biden mockingly referred to Donald Trump as “Donald Dump.” 3:10pm- In a recent interview with The Washington Post, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was quoted as telling Republicans: “We're out to get you, you're dead.” The outlandish rhetoric comes one month after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was nearly assassinated while speaking in Butler, PA. Will the media hold Harris accountable prior to the start of early voting in mid-September? 3:25pm- Harris Campaign Caught Altering Headlines: White House Correspondent for The Daily Caller Reagan Reese writes, “Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has been caught editing various outlets' headlines to appear in Americans' Google searches as sponsored ads, according to an Axios report. Several of those outlets, including CNN, USA Today and NPR, told the outlet they were not aware that their articles were being manipulated for Harris campaign ads.” You can read the full article here: https://dailycaller.com/2024/08/13/kamala-harris-campaign-fake-headlines-google-searches-american-voters-npr-cnn/ 3:30pm- Kamala's Economic Message is Purposefully Light on Detail: Jim Tankersley and Andrew Duehren of The New York Times write, “Vice President Kamala Harris's sudden ascent to the top of the Democratic ticket has generated a host of questions about her economic agenda, including how much she will stick to the details of President Biden's positions, tweak them, or chart entirely new ones. When she begins to roll out her policy vision this week, Ms. Harris is likely to answer only some of those questions. During an economy-focused speech on Friday in Raleigh, N.C., Ms. Harris will outline a sort of reboot of the administration's economic agenda, according to four people familiar with Ms. Harris's plans. She will lay out an approach relatively light on details, they said.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/14/us/politics/kamala-harris-economy-north-carolina.html 3:40pm- Alfredo Ortiz—President and CEO of Job Creators Network—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest article for The Daily Caller, “Kamala Harris is a Threat to Entry-Level Jobs.” You can read the full article here: https://dailycaller.com/2024/08/02/opinion-kamala-harris-threat-entry-level-jobs-alfredo-ortiz/ 4:05pm- Ukrainian President Zelensky Ordered Nord Stream Destruction: Bojan Pancevski, The Wall Street Journal's Chief European Political Correspondent, reports: “in the small hours of Sept. 26, Scandinavian seismologists picked up signals indicating an underwater earthquake or volcanic eruption hundreds of miles away, near the Danish island of Bornholm. They were caused by three powerful explosions and the largest-ever recorded release of natural gas, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of Denmark. One of the most audacious acts of sabotage in modern history, the operation worsened an energy crisis in Europe—an assault on critical infrastructure that could be considered an act of war under international law. Theories swirled about who was responsible. Was it the CIA? Could Putin himself have set the plan in motion? Now, for the first time, the outlines of the real story can be told…Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially approved the plan, according to one officer who participated and three people familiar with it. But later, when the CIA learned of it and asked the Ukrainian president to pull the plug, he ordered a halt, those people said. Zelensky's commander in chief, Valeriy Zaluzhniy, who was leading the effort, nonetheless forged ahead.” You can read the full report here: https://www.wsj.com/world/europe/nord-stream-pipeline-explosion-real-story-da24839c?mod=hp_lead_pos7 4:30pm- Is Kamala's Sudden Uptick in Favorability Permanent? Not Likely: Steven Shepard of Politico writes: “Voters are seeing Harris in a new light since she became Democrats' presidential candidate. Throughout the past three years, there's been a wide gulf between the number of voters who had a favorable opinion of the vice president, and the significantly larger share who viewed her unfavorably...That doesn't mean it will last, though: Trump's campaign has started an advertising barrage in battleground states, trying to paint her as “dangerously liberal.” That could dent her favorable ratings, especially as scrutiny of her record ratchets up following her initial campaign rollout. ‘With Kamala Harris, it's like ‘A Star is Born,' said Mark Mellman, the lead pollster for then-Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in the 2004 presidential race. ‘It's not unreal. It's not unnatural. It's not fake. But it's not necessarily permanent. I can certainly imagine a situation where both candidates' favorabilities decline a little bit.'” You can read the full article here: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/14/kamala-harris-polls-donald-trump-00174050 5:00pm- On Thursday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a press conference in Bedminster, New Jersey. During his address, he accused Kamala Harris of adopting a “Maduro plan” for her economic platform—referencing Venezuela's socialist authoritarian leader Nicolas Maduro.

Campus leaders are now walking a fine line, between what is covered by the first amendment, and what speech is violating school policy. Harvard Professor Arthur Brooks joins the Rundown to discuss what is causing division between students on campuses, what can be done to promote and protect diverse ideas in colleges, and why he is hopeful that America can move forward with its founding principles. Inflation is creeping back up, with the prices of common goods rising 0.4% in March from the previous month, according to the Labor Department. Yet, President Joe Biden continues to tout that his policies are working, saying that under his administration, inflation has fallen from its peak. However, polls suggest that his economic message is not resonating with voters. On the Rundown, co-anchor of America's Newsroom, Bill Hemmer, joins to discuss how the economy, the border, and the abortion issue will impact 2024 voters. Congress is in crunch time to reauthorize the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, as it is often referred to. House Republicans have worked on reforms for the act, which they say has been misused over the past two decades to unlawfully spy on American citizens, who in some cases have not committed a crime. The deadline for reauthorization is set for April 19, but it has faced heavy pushback by GOP hardliners. FOX News Contributor and retired CIA Station Chief Dan Hoffman joins the Rundown to explain what function FISA serves, the reforms that Republicans are aiming to get approved, and the national security implications if the act is not reauthorized. Plus, commentary from U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY). Photo Credit: AP Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

SERIES 2 EPISODE 136: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: What President Biden should say in The State of the Union tonight is, to declare, simply and directly, that of all the threats to the United States of America the greatest of these is Donald John Trump and thus tonight I am declaring The Biden Doctrine. And in sum, my fellow Americans, the Biden Doctrine is this: we must save our country from madness and vengeance and hate and racism and dictatorship, and to save our country from these evils, we must metaphorically kick the ever-loving shit out of Donald Trump. Instead, the White House expects Biden to deliver a traditional speech that will re-set the campaign. The problem is, it'll be designed for a major event in the life of the nation called The State of the Union that… doesn't exist any more. 53 million people watched Bill Clinton's tension-filled post-Lewinsky State of the Union in 1998. That was 20 percent of the population. Last year? Biden had 27 million viewers and not a whole lot of streamers. The other problem is, 538 researched Presidential Approval before and after each SOTU since 1978 and the average change in approval is a microscopic 1.9%. The all-time highest was Clinton's 10% gain after he stared down the Republicans post-Lewinsky. If you really do think this is your last chance to fundamentally re-set the race, then gimme The Biden Doctrine. What IS the Biden Doctrine about? The Biden Doctrine is about the greatest threat facing this nation. And what IS the greatest threat to the nation? It's Trump. It's Trump's Cult. It's Trump's madness. It's Trump's racism. It's Trump's desire to be a dictator. It's Trump's next coup. Do it. If they build statues to President Joseph Robinette Biden Junior it will be for saving this nation from Donald Trump. Twice. There is no reason to back away from the easiest to understand accomplishment. There is no reason to hide from what even HE says is the reason he IS running again: to stop Trump and save representative government. Pound the son of a bitch in the ground, like you did at Independence Hall in September '22. You'll get ten percent approval growth just for THAT. And don't forget to join me live on YouTube and Twitch right after the speech for the Countdown With Keith Olbermann State of the Union Post-Game Show. Biden starts about 9 ET, I should start around 10. Be there. Aloha. B-Block (22:59) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Bill Hemmer says because they cut away from Trump's "victory" speeches CNN and MSNBC should drop "news" from their names. Hilariously, last month Fox News... cut away from Trump's "victory" speeches. Politico and 60,000 other news organizations devoted space to a Democratic presidential candidate who got exactly 51 votes on Tuesday. And Elon Musk a) lied about Biden bringing in foreigners to vote b) lied when he called it "treason" c) probably lied about not helping Trump with financing and d) on the other hand, a candidate he opposed this week won by 2 to 1. C-Block (33:13) THURSDAYS WITH THURBER: They're all brilliantly written. But "The Car We Had To Push" is brilliantly written to be read aloud. One I've never read you before, from his classic book about his childhood in Columbus, Ohio: "My Life And Hard Times."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
