Froito: denominado castaña, ten unha cáscara forte e flexible, e está contido nunha envoltura ou protuberancia espinosa que se abre ó madurar. ✅Utilidades e curiosidades: aporta valor ecolóxico, produtivo, paisaxístico e monumental. A súa madeira de cor amarela é de moi boa calidade, de dureza media, elástica e flexible. Emprégase para fabricar mobles e na construcción, ebanistería, tonelería, etc. Hai especies ou híbridos que producen boa madiera e outros que son mellores produtores de froito. É un xénero moi lonxevo que pode superar os 500 anos. Hai varios exemplares de castiñeiro en Galicia incluidos no Catálogo galego de árbores senlleiras. Tamén se usa con fins ornamentais e funciona ben como árbore de sombra, pero cultívase e coñécese máis pola producción de castaña, froito moi valorado a nivel culinario. Existen varias creencias ou teorías de cómo chegou o castiñeiro a Galicia e incluso hai quen di que realmente é de aquí, xa que, ainda que a maioría dos autores defenden que foi introducido na península ibérica polos romanos, recentes estudios de polen fósil indican que xa estaba presente antes das últimas glaciacións. A especie máis común en Galicia é Castanea sativa, ainda que no último século introducíronse outras, como o castiñeiro xaponés Castanea crenata para loitar contra a enfermidade da tinta que, xunto coa enfermidade do chancro, reduciu drásticamente a poboación de castiñeiros autóctonos. ‍ Necesidades e cultivo: Desenvólvese ben en climas templados, frescos e húmidos, entre os 500 e los 1.200 m de altitude, ainda que tamén pode cultivarse a nivel do mar. Necesita moito espazo para desenvolver a súa amplia copa. Prefire solos ácidos, profundos e húmidos, pero ben drenados e ricos en materia orgánica. Resiste ben as baixas temperaturas do inverno, pero tolera mal a sequía e as xeadas primaverales ou tardías, xa que afecta á producción de novos brotes e froitos. Ás árbores novas non medran ben en exposicións soleadas. La obra Iribarne, escrita por la dramaturga y actriz gallega Esther Carrodeguas y dirigida por Xavier Castiñeira, indaga en una de las figuras más controvertidas de la historia política española: Manuel Fraga Iribarne (1922–2012). Ministro durante el franquismo, fundador del Partido Popular y uno de los redactores de la Constitución de 1978, Fraga encarna las tensiones y contradicciones de la llamada “transición democrática”, un proceso que, a casi medio siglo de distancia, sigue generando debate y revisiones críticas.El personaje de Fraga también se conecta con América Latina y, particularmente, con Uruguay, país que visitó en numerosas ocasiones y donde mantuvo vínculos con las comunidades gallegas. Over the last 10 years, I've been undergoing a - for me at least - massive transformation and I've been thinking a lot about what identity means – the identity that I present to the public, the identity that I present to my friends and family and the identity that I present to myself. With that comes a need to face yourself if you are going to find freedom. Our brains like to compartmentalise things and I think this is why we often get defined by society by our work or what we do. I mean, who hasn't felt their blood run cold at the question “So, what do you do?”… “well, I'm an accountant and I'm also a grindcore enthusiast”. Whaaaaat?? The reaction of horror! And we start to believe how we get defined, it gets normalised.And it's the same for music genres – it's easier to compartmentalise - they're hip hop, they're prog, they're folk, but it's so reductive.So the whole definition of oneself becomes an inhibiting self fulfilling prophecyI know for me it took courage to be comfortable with self-evolution, to transform myself according to what my body and mind is telling me and to ignore the voices of society to whom I had presented versions of myself. And only when we all have that fluidity, that freedom in ourselves, can we get to a world where the destructive forces subside and we make progress. The music of Dalila Kayros is like an evolutionary odyssey…from the beginning to the end of a song, of an album and, when I think about it, an entire catalogue. For me, Khthonie - the latest album - achieves a remarkable portrayal of perhaps what it's like to be in a world that is transforming and equally what it's like for oneself to be transforming  – moments of turbulence and tenderness, it feels like I'm on a precipice staring down into a black hole, there's the mysticism, the beauty, the fantasy, the malevolence, the fear and the euphoria. I want to pick one track - Corpus Sonorum – which closes the album and, for me, sonically depicts the knife edge on which we live, how quickly and easily we can descend into hell. Or are already on our descent into hell. From a spiritual perspective, it feels like the soundtrack of Kali Yuga and a manifestation moral decline and self-destruction. En plena reconversión industrial, en Asturias, un grupo de trabajadoras de la empresa textil Confecciones Gijón protagonizaron una de las movilizaciones más largas y duras que conocemos, con un encierro de cuatro años para evitar el cierre de la fábrica. La escultura medieval, en especial en los períodos románico y gótico, está intrínsecamente ligada al espacio arquitectónico en el que se enmarca. Fachadas, portales, claustros, tumbas, altares, baldaquinos y retablos centran la localización de relieves o de estatuas devocionales que actúan como marcadores y puntos focales del espacio sacro. La escultura se integra así en un recorrido del espectador por el edificio y, por lo tanto, fomenta su experiencia emocional y espiritual. Por ello, en muchas ocasiones, a estas estatuas y relieves se les da una mayor vivacidad y corporalidad, bien a través de la policromía, bien a través de su relación con ritos devocionales y ceremonias litúrgicas. De esta manera, la escultura no solo se convierte en "performance" sino que forma parte de esta. Iglesias y catedrales se transforman así en un gran teatro de las imágenes en el que la experiencia sensorial de la escultura involucra gran parte de los sentidos del fiel (ver, escuchar, tocar, cantar). “Matrimony was not instituted or restored by man but by God; not by man were the laws made to strengthen and confirm and elevate it but by God, the Author of nature, and by Christ Our Lord by Whom nature was redeemed...” Casti Connubii, or “of chaste wedlock”, was a papal encyclical promulgated by Pope Pius XI on December 21, 1930, in response to the approval by the Anglican Communion's seventh Lambeth Conference of birth control for married couples. Over 90 years later, this encyclical has lost none of its relevance. In it, Pope Pius delivers a sweeping defense against the many threats to marriage that are still prevalent today. Priests and catechists involved in marriage preparation, take note! Pope Pius first discusses the nature and the dignity of Christian marriage, as well as its many benefits to family and to society. He then addresses the many errors and vices opposed to marriage before finally describing the principal remedies to the problems afflicting marriage in the present day. Pope Pius XI's encyclical on marriage contains many truths forgotten even among faithful Catholics. St. Paul's admonition for wives to submit to their husbands as the Church submits to Christ (Ephesians 5) is one of the most uncomfortable teachings for modern Catholics. But it's not just obedience in marriage that moderns find objectionable–and it's not just liberals who can't stomach it. Across the political and religious spectrum, even among self-described traditionalists, we find all kinds of excuses to avoid obedience. Deeply embedded in the post-Enlightenment consciousness is the equation of authority with tyranny and obedience with slavery. Come to think of it, Scripture tells us that the issue of authority and obedience is fundamental to mankind's rupture with God throughout all history, beginning with the rebellion of Adam and Eve. Satan tricked Eve into thinking God's command was a trick to keep her down rather than a gift of love. Adam went along, choosing to please his wife rather than God, in a perversion of his God-given inclination toward union through gift. Ever since, both men and women have had a suspicious and guarded stance toward God's authority rather than a submissive and receptive one, while ironically dominating and manipulating others in the very way they feared God was doing to them. The primordial reality of authority as gift and obedience as receptivity, which Christ came to restore in nuptial union with His Church, is central to theologian Mary Stanford's new book, The Obedience Paradox: Finding True Freedom in Marriage. Drawing on Scripture, the theology of the body, and the whole Magisterial tradition of the Church on marital obedience, Stanford offers not just a defense of the traditional teaching, but a profound illumination of how both wives and husbands can find true freedom in submitting to God's design for what Pope Pius XI called “the order of love” in marriage, which is both mutual and asymmetrical. Stanford's presentation will be liberating particularly for those open-hearted Catholics who, while wishing to be faithful to Church teaching, fear that reiterating this particular point of the Scriptural and Magisterial doctrine on marriage will just create an opportunity for domination and abuse. Yet not only wives, and not only married couples, but all Catholics can learn from how obedience is lived in marriage, and see that obedient receptivity is at the core of what it means to be a human person.
