I'm delighted to welcome Dr. Betty Martin to the show. She is a Chiropractor, a Body Electric School trained Sacred Intimate, Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Foundations of Facilitation trainer, and a self-propelled erotic adventurer and Intimacy Coach. She is the author of "The Art of Receiving and Giving - The Wheel of Consent" and a massive inspiration for my own work. We had a fantastic conversation about consent. Betty masterfully explained her definition of consent and what it means to give and receive in a consensual sexual relationship. We also talk about BDSM, boundaries, pleasure and shame. What You Will Learn In This Episode: - What kind of work Dr. Betty Martin goes through with her peers - What the three-minute game is and how it inspired the creation of the Wheel of Consent - Dr. Betty's definition of consent and why she believes there's a confusion about what giving and receiving really mean - What the Wheel of Consent is, how it works, and how we can use its language to redefine consent In her mid-40s, Dr. Betty Martin experienced an erotic awakening. She discovered there was a lot more about Eros than what she knew. After some years of intensive exploration and research, she decided to share her knowledge. She focused on teaching people how to be comfortable in their own skin, how to ask for and give what they want, and above all, express what they don't want to give or receive. This week's adventure is taken in the company of Alison Pilling who speaks about how love, relationships, sex and intimacy matter to us. These things matter to us more than we care to admit and are a big influence on our ability to be happy. Alison is a certified sexological body worker and intimacy coach with a personal background in tantra and conscious kink which can help us explore our shadow-side for awareness and ultimately healing. Alison has also created and host The Sex Lectures in Manchester, runs an online sexual salon and works with private clients on the fundamentals and practice of modern sex education. KEY TAKEAWAYS There’s a sense that sex is something we just don’t know about, wondering if there’s something more than I’ve experienced, is this it, what else is there, am I supposed to like this, how does it work, why are relationships so confusing? None of us are alone in that bewilderment. 10 Years ago, I was the same. But, coming up to 50 I decided to explore it alongside personal development. I meet loads of people in sex positive groups and we’re all there because it was a mystery and a confusion and something that each of us found really hard to understand in our lives. And whether we’re wounded healers or adventurers we’ve gone into more depth about what that connection and our personal eroticism is. People love to think that sex is magic, but if you rely on magic or telepathy you can make a lot of mistakes. Learning to communicate about what feels nice for us – because often we’re focussed on somebody else – one of the many things that has helped me is understanding my body, what feels nice on my skin, how I like to be touched and how I touch someone else. I would say that if we want to have good sexual experiences in our lives, if we can move between these three realms: Partner Engagement, Play and Trance States, we can have variety, novelty, depth and relationship. One or two of us has had a bad relationship. Conscious kink can be used to heal old wounds. A sense of betrayal can be hidden in the body that comes out through sex. I went on a few kink courses and found out a lot about my feelings of betrayal and power dynamics. BEST MOMENTS ‘Sexuality and eroticism are personal, we need to find our individuality in it.’ ‘Through tantra I got to explore who I was in the presence of someone else.’ ‘This body is mine and I’m responsible for all the things in it; emotion, health, pleasure and you’re responsible for your body.’ ‘Understanding what’s worth wanting in any given moment rather than hoping we like what happens to us is major.’ ‘Being asked made a huge difference because I could feel if I wanted it and notice how I felt or was able to say ‘no’.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES The Adventures Of Self Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.adventures.of.self/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The.Adventures.of.Self ABOUT THE GUEST Alison does not offer tips to "spice up" your sex life. instead, she talks about why and how exploring sexuality add to a sense of aliveness, authenticity and trust; a way into understanding ourselves and others. She focuses on the possibilities for self-awareness through conscious sexuality, journeys and ways of relating, and how these adventures into self can offer revelation, confidence, shadow healing, touch, consent and communication skills. If you can sort out your sex life, you can sort out pretty much anything. Alison is a Certified Sexological Bodyworker and Coach with a personal background in Tantra and Conscious Kink. She has taught Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa, Prenatal and Postnatal styles. Naked means more than nudity to her; it’s a way to embrace vulnerability, honesty and living more from one’s core values. A textile free yoga practice can illuminate and allow freedom from shame in our bodies, allow us to access more body confidence and can bring us closer and more connected to our shared humanity, recognizing how we are more similar than different.

Have you struggled with an unpleasant experience with pleasure and/or your sexuality? Today my conversation with Tracy Montgomery, a Certified Sexological Bodyworker and somatic sex educator helps to normalize why pleasure is important in your life. How uncomfortable is not unsafe and what this means including the notion that we can trust ourselves to know when something is right. Tracy talks about getting turned onto life and how we can change the world when we feel good about ourselves. We also talk about being mindful, present and in the moment and how something like shame disconnects us from being present in our own body. Shame is pleasure interrupted in our bodies – when we avoid the bad stuff we can’t feel the good. Show Notes
S is for Sexological BodyWork Hi everyone! Welcome to the A to Z of Sex. I'm Dr Lori Beth and I am your host. We are working our way through the erotic alphabet one letter at a time. Just a reminder this podcast deals with adult content, so if you don't have total privacy, you might want to put on your headphones. Today the letter is S and S is for Sexological BodyWork. Celine Remy is an Holistic Sexologist and Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Céline Remy offers a unique body-based methodology to crack open her clients through pleasure. She brings a ridiculous amount of joy and laughter in everything she does and wants every man to step into his power with strength and sensitivity and every woman to experience the sex she deserves & craves. She teaches both men and women how to unleash their sexual potential, bring out the best in each other and have mind-blowing sex for hours. Sexological body work is the crossroad between sex therapy and erotic massage. Celine spoke about the different uses for sexological body work. She said that she enjoys working with men and women who need to learn to settle into their bodies, men who are worried about erections and ejaculating too quickly and women who might not experience orgasm regularly. She told me that issues are held in the body, in the cell memory and that without body work they don't shift. Celine spoke about Mantak Chia and his beliefs and the relevance to sexological body work. We spoke about issues that arise at menopause, issues after trauma and how difficult it can be to get people to really look at their own sexual issues and be willing to be in their bodies. Celine talked about how powerful sex becomes when a person is fully present. She spoke about the types of exercises and work that she does with her clients. She is hands on (as are all sexological body workers) and touches her clients all over. However, this is all one sided. She does not get undressed and her clients do not touch her. Celine talked about working on line via Zoom or Skype and doing masturbation coaching to teach her clients how to masturbate in different ways and effectively to prolong pleasure. She spoke about knowing one's own body and responses and how important this is for health care and for intensity of pleasure. Celine and her beloved have developed a three part on line programme for men called power and mastery. She said that this covers erectile problems, premature ejaculation, as well as enjoying sex more. A lot of men and women need sexual healing. Dating and relationships can bring up old issues, and sexual healing can happen with a sexual partner, but it can also happen with a compassionate professional. Sex issues like erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, delayed ejaculation, and more do NOT have to be your permanent reality. Sexual healing can take place in just a few sessions with a clinical sexological bodyworker, which is both inspiring and exciting.
