His path to success is a tale of passion and innovation, his story a testament to his ability to launch and thrive in diverse industries, achieving two incredible exits along the way. First, he introduced authentic Buffalo wings to New York City with Atomic Wings, expanding it to 33 locations and exiting to Dunkin Donut. Entrepreneur Adam Lippin believes deeply in the transformative power of authentic human connection. As the founder and CEO of HearMe, Adam's on a mission to make mental health support accessible, affordable and immediate. Being a yoga and meditation practitioner for over 20 years, Adam says, “there's a transcendence that comes from being truly heard, seen, and validated by another human being. Being seen for who we really are, as a whole person, without judgment. There aren't many opportunities for this magical connection in daily life, even though we're surrounded by people who are also yearning for these things every day. So, I helped build a platform for making these connections possible whenever we need them. Before HearMe, Adam's first wellness venture began in 2016, when he founded Cuddlist with co-founder and consent expert Madelon Guinazzo. Cuddlist is an international cuddling service with over 3,000 trained cuddliest practitioners who have completed over 50,000 sessions. After the success of Cuddlist, Adam launched HearMe in 2018 with the same core value that connection is a fundamental human necessity. Dr. Lee interviews surrogate partners Brian Gibney and Michelle Renee on the art of Surrogate Partner Therapy. Brian and Michelle Renee share with Dr. Lee how Surrogate Partner Therapy is an effective treatment for obstacles with emotional and physical intimacy, and they explain how it is legal. Brian and Michelle Renee discuss how they glide clients through the resolution of a variety of issues, including histories of trauma or abuse, social anxiety, poor body image, sensual awareness, orgasmic blocks, genital pain, disability, rediscovery of their bodies during/after transition, and late-life virginity in a safe, non-judgmental environment. They also discuss the rewarding and challenging aspects of their work. Dr. Lee and Michelle Renee share their personal experience working together using Sex Therapy and Surrogate Partner Therapy. Brian has worn many hats in his life: scientific researcher, educator, professional artist, and circus performer. His diverse life experiences have exposed him to a wide variety of people and lifestyles and helped him appreciate the common threads that bind us all together. As a surrogate partner and intimacy coach, Brian seeks to use his knowledge to help people overcome obstacles to physical and emotional intimacy. Applying techniques pioneered by Masters and Johnson, he uses an integrative approach to help others find balance in their intellectual, emotional, and physical selves. With the help of a therapist, His practice is rooted in patience, authenticity, vulnerability, touch…and sometimes a little bit of humor. Brian received his BA in Molecular Biology from Kenyon College in 1999 and his master's in microbiology from the University of Massachusetts in 2006. He received his training in surrogate partner therapy from IPSA (International Professional Surrogates Association) in 2016. Brian is co-founder of the Surrogate Partner Collective and is currently serving as chair of AASECT's Somatic Sexuality Professionals special interest group. A cuddlist? A Platonic Touch Therpist? Have you heard of these specialties? Cuddlists have been around for several years. But the term Platonic Touch Therapist is fairly new and the training is very new. I recently met Jasmine Siemon on a training call for another program and knew right away that I wanted to have her on the show to talk about what she's doing and the training she's developing. If there's a more pure pleasure then loving, touching and squeezing research scientists and ancient mystics have yet to find it. Such a foundational, basic human desire surely needs no introduction, and yet for something so truly important we lack even the most basic training or professional expertise. Maybe that's why paid cuddle parties and professional cuddlists are popping up everywhere- but what can we really learn about our most primitive language? Sundeep Arole joins Christy and Nate to discuss the life and times of a professional cuddle artist, plus your calls and what's turning us on this week!

"I've always been told I give great hugs, and I really wanted to share them with people.” Dr. Yoni Alkan explores the beauty of hugs, cuddles, and other forms of non-sexual touch. On this episode of Human Awareness, we talk about Cuddle Party®, being a Cuddlist®, and the importance of sharing touch with other human beings. We all may recognize the value of affection - but what if we lived in a world where it was more readily given and received? We explore this idea and more on this particularly cozy episode. Dr. Yoni Alkan is a sexual educator and a sexual consultant with a Doctorate in Human Sexuality and a Masters in Conflict Resolution and Mediation, he is also a professional one-on-one cuddler with Cuddlist and a Certified Cuddle Party Facilitator in San Francisco. Yoni is a TED speaker at TEDxSoMa 2019, and the author of The Book of Cuddles which is an instructional on cuddling that teaches how to better your touch. He is also the creator of Elements of Sexuality; a playful, geeky, and educational site about the elements that contribute to our sexuality.
Feeling lonely? Don't have anyone to go for a stroll with? Or, could you use a cuddle? A feel-good, platonic hug? Well, then a friend rental website or a cuddling service could be just the things you need. They could also be the very resources we need to help with loneliness, even if only temporarily. But what's it like to spend an hour with someone you've paid to be in your company? Hosts, Jeremy and Judy, decided to find out first-hand when they booked a couple of services through Rent-a-Friend and the Cuddlist, respectively. Both companies seem to be mining the commercial potential of loneliness and claim to be growing in reach and popularity. You'll meet Maggie, Jeremy's rented friend, and Melody, Judy's hired cuddler. And you'll also hear the hosts' honest assessments on what each of their transactions felt like. They will also ponder broader, societal implications of why in an age when dating apps help strangers meet for meaningless sex and websites secure spouses from all over the world, paying for platonic companionship sill comes with moral burdens. This week on the show we talk all about this, why relationships break down, how our ability to communicate authentically is dependent on our ability to connect intimately.About Rachael JayeRachael Jaye is The Connection Coach. Love is in the air (Rakkautta ilmassa, Det ligger kärlek i luften) is a podcast where Johannes Romppanen sits down with people and talks about love. What is love and how does it appear in our lives? In the third of a series of 10 New York based love podcasts, Johannes talks with Ella. Love is in the air #36 - Lovepodcast New York 3/10 - I stumbled upon a video about a professional cuddling service. https://youtu.be/rJHXN_5lFAk I felt curious about it and contacted the founders, told them I was coming to New York and wanted to meet a cuddling professional and talk about their work. So the founders put me together with Ella and here we meet at her apartment in Washington Heights and I ask her what this cuddling service is all about. We also talk about love and relationships; Ella has some beautiful conclusions about what she has learned through her cuddling work. She feels grateful about the opportunity to get to know so many people and also to see how important communication is in relationships. Ella sees the importance of really asking for what you want and to be clear with your desires and to be in touch with yourself. Not to settle for mediocre relationships, lack of communication, lack of affections, lack of intimacy - because we all deserve that. I give a lot of thought to what makes a great sex life. What makes us sex life healthy, what makes it enjoyable for people, what makes it fulfilling? When I consider the kinds of things that matter, I think about the ability to slow down and be present in the moment. I think about the ability to tune into your body and to know what you want in that moment. Not just abstractly, like if I asked you at breakfast what you wanted for dinner, but what do you want right now? It's equally important to know what you don't want. Not just knowing what your boundaries are, but also how do you recognize what is making you uncomfortable or that something isn't pleasing right now? And then how do you speak up about that? It's crucial that you're able to communicate with a partner in order to ask for what you want (and to speak up about what you don't) to negotiate and collaborate with them.Another important aspect of better sex is the ability to enjoy the journey. So, instead of being goal oriented or focused on performance or on an outcome, to have better sex, you've got to just enjoy what you're doing in the moment with the partner. You're fully present. You're not in a hurry. There's no test that you pass or fail at the end of it. Those are critical components of good sex. This is not an exhaustive list, but it is a good starting point for what I work with people to accomplish in their intimate lives. There are a lot of professions that help people with this. So, while I do this as a sex therapist, other mental health counselors work with people around some of these issues. Massage practitioners are working with people around touch and just being in their body.I had an earlier episode of Better Sex with a Tantric Healer who's explicitly working with people around what they want, communicating consent, boundaries, and presence. And it turns out I've learned about a new profession, or at least new to me, of people that that help with these issues and skills. I met Anna Joy Reedy, who is my guest today, through a colleague, and I was really struck by how warm and sincere she is. As we talked about what she does, I was fascinated, so I invited her on the show. She is a professional Cuddlist. She has a philosophy degree that she's put to use as an entrepreneur, and she is enthusiastically pioneering this new frontier of touch therapy as a Cuddlist. This is something she's fascinated by and really moved to share with people. She's really interested in all things somatic and she told me she's got lots of, "not yet birthed writings" in the works too. She's got a lot to share and I'm just delighted that she's on the show with me today. We talk about what a professional cuddler does and what you can expect in a session. We also answer the question, "Is it ever sexual?" and cover safety concerns. And, most importantly we talk about the healing power of platonic touch. Proven to help reduce chronic pain and depression, while boosting immunity and enhancing mood, platonic touch and cuddling can positively impact overall wellness. In a previous life, Kassandra Brown was a parenting coach. Then one day, about six years ago, she was cuddling with a friend of hers when she had a personal breakthrough. So when she was searching for what to do next in her career, she landed on a combination of coaching and physical touch. She signed up for a company called Cuddlist. Kassandra believes that American culture has warped the idea of physical intimacy, and she’s on a one-woman mission to change that - one cuddle session at a time.
In this episode, I lie down with my housemate Tiger. Tiger goes by many names, but we'll only use two of them here. Tiger is a Professional Cuddler, or, Cuddlist. Her cuddling name is Ellen. You can find her on Cuddlist.com. She's also a reiki practitioner, a trained yoga instructor, a comedian (check out "The Comedy Witch"), and a cats fanatic. That's the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical theatre version of cats, to be clear. In lieu of performing in the actual musical, Tiger cosplays regularly as feline, and soon plans to host Cat Cuddling events at Hacienda Studio, in which the cats are actually humans in full cat costume because "you could cuddle real cats, but they're unreliable." She writes and performs funny songs, and last year I saw her in an hour-long one-ish-woman show entitled "Kiss Me, I'm Jew-witch." She sang about celebrity sex dreams and her period. Her parents were there. It was pretty amazing. Tiger is the closest thing I have at this point to a sister. We have deep talks in the kitchen, during which we usually quote the title of her yet-to-be written inspirational memoir, "Breakthrough Junkie." She scrapes me up off the floor when I need it and texts me that there are Puffins in her cabinet for a late-night snack, when I don't. I love her. I hope you will. Come lie down with us. In this quickie episode, recorded live at my podcast launch pajama party on May 21st, 2017, I lie down with my friend Becca and tell her a story. That series of recordings from the party comprise the first installment of my ongoing series Horizontal Storytelling. We recorded at Hacienda Studio, our sex-positive event space in Bushwick, Brooklyn. My guests enjoyed reiki, massage, empathy sessions, and cookies upon arrival. After a brief cuddling tutorial from one of my housemates, a professional Cuddlist, fifty people in kimonos, flannels, onesies, and short-shorts got horizontal and snuggly on an enormous Megabed the size of three kings put together. On a bed-island across the room, my guest and I arranged ourselves as we would for any horizontal recording session - lying on our backs, almost ear-to-ear, sharing a pillow, microphones hanging down above us, with a starry blanket as our backdrop… In this quickie, I speak about a best friend, a road trip, several fiances, a suicide, and a breakup. I titled my story, Another Word for Breakup." Becca has been my friend for 10 years, and knew much of the story already. I was glad to have her by my side. Come lie down with us. Adam Lippin of Cuddlist is my guest this week. I'll use his words to introduce him. "Most of us don’t get enough touch in our lives. We’re touch-deprived, and most of us don’t even know it consciously. All we know is that there’s loneliness and stress and a deep sense of missing out. And there is something missing: touch and the connection with others that it fosters. That’s why we started Cuddlist. Safe, non-sexual, consensual touch fills a need that’s badly neglected in our society. Cuddling relaxes us and reduces stress at the very least, and on the deeper level it nourishes our soul and helps us get in touch with our higher self."
Adam Lippon AKA The Cuddlist talks about how he researches and selects his best ideas, how he started a brand new industry and how he markets new ideas. Join me in this fireside chat as we get right into this amazing (and slightly weird) entrepreneurial journey.
