The Podcast by KevinMD is brought to you by the Nuance Dragon Ambient eXperience. With so many demands on their time, physicians today report record levels of burnout. Burnout is caused by many factors, one of which is clinical documentation. Studies indicate physicians spend two hours documenting care for every hour spent with patients. At Nuance, we are committed to helping physicians do what you love – care for patients – and spend less time on clinical documentation. The Nuance Dragon Ambient eXperience, or DAX for short, is an AI-powered, ambient clinical intelligence solution that automatically captures patient encounters securely and accurately at the point of care. Physicians who use DAX have reported a 50 percent decrease in documentation time and a 70 percent reduction in feelings of burnout, and 83 percent of patients say their physician is more personable and conversational. Rediscover the joy of medicine with clinical documentation that writes itself, all within the EHR. "Are you a perfectionist? Did you know that perfectionists are actually some of the biggest procrastinators? Yes, really. In theory, perfectionism sounds like a good thing. Who doesn't want to do and be their best? It can even seem like a harmless way to motivate yourself. But the reality is, nothing is perfect. What does “perfect” even mean? What does it look like? Who has the instruction manual? It's different for everyone. What's “perfect” in your eyes may not be perfect in someone else's eyes and vice versa. As you can see, there is no end to this game. There is no way to win." Cindy Tsai is an internal medicine physician and can be reached on Twitter @cindytsaimd. “I never thought social media hacking would offer such important reminders and lessons, but here we are. By the way, I am the first to admit that it's easy to gloss over phrases and lessons because you've heard them a million times before, and we think we know. But in reality, we merely understand, but do not know. Because if we really knew, then there wouldn't be the need for the lessons to appear. So while I would never have wished for this to happen, I am grateful to learn and for this opportunity to 'know.' Have you experienced hacking before? How did you respond? What did you learn from it?” Cindy Tsai is an internal medicine physician and can be reached on Twitter @cindytsaimd. "Patients look to providers for guidance, wisdom, and hope. When patients receive a new chronic disease diagnosis, it can feel terminal to the layperson. Even pre-diabetes is traumatizing to an otherwise healthy adult. We must not underestimate the power of our words. Learn to see selling as a key skill to develop. As with other skills, it gets easier the more you do it. When you have the know-how and enjoy selling, you will have more belief in yourself, your patient, and the treatment/healing process. You reconnect to your purpose and share the gifts only you have. You live life with ease and joy. You feel better. Patients do better. Everyone wins." Resources: Website: https://www.cindytsaimd.com@cindytsaimdWhen you hear an idea that differs from the norm, it may seem unusual. You may be surprised when you hear the same idea voiced by another person. But when you hear more and more people, all talking about the same thing, it is time to investigate more closely. Today I interview Cindy Tsai MD who, like many of her peers that I have interviewed recently, has become disillusioned with western medicine and its focus on fixing acute illnesses with a prescription band aid. She wanted to help people look at root causes and take better care of themselves so they wouldn't have to get sick and suffer unnecessarily. Cindy was a driven, hardworking, successful physician and the inability to help people the way she wanted caused her to become unhappy and resentful. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which left her feeling lost and stuck. Working with a life coach and healer she realized that she had to slow down, reevaluate, and reconnect with herself. Through her coach she learned tangible tools and skills to accept herself, quiet her inner critic, and discover her true purpose, which is to serve as a guide and coach to empower others to live their best life with ease and joy. Cindy no longer practices as a primary care physician. She is training in integrative medicine, a specialty that considers the whole person and everything that affects their health and wellness including mind, spirit, and body. She sees herself as a healer who can call on different tools to help people on their journey. Having personally learned the value of having a coach Cindy has become a life coach herself. She utilizes a comprehensive set of skills and resources to offer a holistic and personalized approach to healing. She can see the potential that a client can't see in themself and identify blind spots, which can save years of unnecessary struggles.Helping people improve their health ripples into them having more energy, thinking more clearly and being more present in their life and relationships. Insight:“To know and not do, is to not know”You may be telling yourself that you know what to do, you just don't do it. But if you really knew it, then you would integrate it into your life. Contact a coach to help take that next step toward achieving your goals in a safe, nonjudgmental way. You will be “empowered to create your own calm and live your best life with ease”.Direction Not Perfection Resources:www.healthaccountabilitycoach.comwww.facebook.com/houselifestylesIG: @houselifestyles
Do you ever hear a voice in your head saying you aren't good enough? Or that things won't work out for you? That voice is your inner critic, and unfortunately, many of us have struggled with this voice for a long time. These voices keep us stuck in a state of fear, and they prevent us from becoming our best selves. But when you learn to quiet your inner critic, you can break the cycle of negative thoughts and make big moves, even when they're scary. In this episode, I talked with Cindy Tsai, a board-certified physician turned mindfulness teacher and life coach about the complex relationship between us and our inner critics. Cindy shared her own story of rethinking her career path, how to practice mindfulness when your inner critic speaks up, and three steps to quieting that negative voice in your head. What you'll find in this episode: How a life crisis can inspire you to rethink your path Identifying your inner critic and understanding where it comes from How your inner critic often keeps you from being your best self The three steps to quieting your inner critic How you can practice mindfulness in all areas of your life Why it's so hard to break out of negative thought cycles Learning how to trust yourself and follow your own path For full show notes, resources, and link, head to https://www.dralyssaadams.com/uncommon-couch-podcast The Uncommon Couch is a show for trailblazing entrepreneurs and change makers who are ready to transform how they think about business growth. "I left my primary care practice earlier this year to focus on life coaching. Why did I leave? Because I wanted to do more and make a bigger impact. I remember how eager I was to complete medical training as I approached the light at the end of the tunnel. I thought I could finally relax and enjoy life as an attending after all the delayed gratification from becoming a doctor. All I ever wanted was to help people feel better and live a life of ease myself. However, I was disappointed and frustrated by our broken health care system and how care coordination could impact patient outcomes negatively. Working as a PCP in the pandemic didn't make it any easier. I saw so many patients suffer and felt helpless that I couldn't do more. I wanted to offer healing on a deeper level by examining the root cause in order to change things for good and care for the person as a whole. But I was feeling stuck. I was afraid to leave my stable job. Medicine was all I knew. What else could I do?" Cindy Tsai is an internal medicine physician and can be reached on Twitter @cindytsaimd.
