Dr. William Fox attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee for his undergraduate course of study in biochemistry. He then attended The Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and where he graduated with a doctor of optometry degree. Dr. Fox's externships were at the Biloxi, Mississippi Family Health Clinic, Indian Health Services Department of Ophthalmology, and the Portland Eye Clinic at Pacific University. His externship studies were in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and contact lens evaluations. Beginning his career in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Fox worked in the Ophthalmology Department, under Dr. Joe Citron, at Crawford Long Hospital. He started Fox Eye Care Group, located next to Lenscrafters, in 1991 in Greensboro, NC. The practice has since grown to 5 locations throughout North Carolina and including Winston Salem. Dr. Fox specializes in contact lens evaluations, diabetic eye exams, and overall family eye health evaluations. He is a 20+ year member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina Optometric Society. Dr. Fox was twice awarded the Horizon Award from Lenscrafters for a combination of professional skills and humanitarian endeavors. He was awarded the Wesley Jesson (now CibaVision) Contact Lens Fitter of the Year award in 1998. He continues to work with the Gift of Sight Foundation (now called OneSight) at home and abroad, helping the needy and disadvantaged. Dr. Fox is the treasurer on the national board of ALLDocs, the independent doctors of optometry next to Lenscrafters. Dr. Fox enjoys traveling, playing basketball, and surfing during his free time.

I asked a returning guest about a recent VIRAL TikTok video on castor oil that made me pause -- mostly because you really need to be careful what you put on or near your eyes. The eyeballs are very delicate tissue so... Is castor oil really the magical elixir everyone online is claiming it to be for eyes? You might be surprised by her opinion! My guest today is Dr. Carly Rose, a distinguished optometrist who has owned and operated Eyecare on the Square, a private practice in Ohio for over five years. Her unwavering dedication to understanding the complex disease of dry eye, as well as investing in cutting-edge research has earned her widespread recognition in the industry as a leader in dry eye diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Rose's passion for dry eye research stemmed from observing the increasing number of patients with this painful and life-changing condition, as well as suffering from the disease as a dry eye patient herself. Dr. Rose is a native of the Greater Cincinnati area, and she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northern Kentucky University. After graduating, she pursued her optometry studies in Chicago and completed a year-long residency at the Cincinnati VAMC Eye Clinic. Many of you now by now that my dad was an ophthalmologist, so I guess there's a certain place in my heart for eye issues. Layman, O.D., was elected to the American Optometric Association Board of Trustees at the 116th Annual AOA Congress & 43rd Annual AOSA Conference: Optometry's Meeting® in June 2013 and serves as President of the Board of Trustees. In addition to his position as President, Dr. Layman serves as chair of the Executive Committee and the Personnel Committee and is the Speaker of the House of Delegates. Additionally, Dr. Layman is a member of the Center for Independent Practice Committee. He is the liaison trustee to the Council on Research Committee and the National Board of Examiners in Optometry group.  He also serves as the liaison trustee of affiliate associations in Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Montana, New Mexico, and Utah. He served as the OOA Electronic Health Records Task Force liaison to the Northwest Ohio Regional Extension Center/Health Information Partnership from 2010-2014. Dr. Layman chaired the EastWest Eye Conference from 2009-2011. He has presented the RealEyes Classroom Initiative curriculum in his community since the program's inception in 2001. Dr. Layman is a graduate of The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Optometry, where he was named one of OSU College of Optometry's Top 100 Notable Alumni during the 100th anniversary of the college. He has served as a vision consultant to the University of Toledo Athletic Department for more than 25 years. He has been an adult leader in Boy Scout Troop 87, a volunteer with the Mildred Bayer Homeless Clinic of Toledo, and a member of the YMCA Board of Managers. Dr. Kareen Yeung Landerville was born in Canada and raised in North Dakota. She received her bachelor's of science degree in Microbiology from the University of California, Davis in 1995 and completed her optometric training at the Southern California College of Optometry in 2002. Dr. Landerville continued to practice in the Southern California area while concurrently pursuing advanced post-graduate study in vision therapy, vision development and rehabilitation. She became a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 2005. Dr. Landerville moved to Massachusetts in 2006 with her husband and spent several years practicing in New England, being mentored by leading developmental and vision rehabilitation optometrists in the country. She returned to the west with her family to establish the Las Vegas Center for Vision Therapy in 2014.As an optometry student, Dr. Landerville was honored with a Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society grant for her research in contact lens use. She was also specifically recognized for her leadership skills, and she received the Dr. Erwin A. Rader Memorial Scholarship.Dr. Landerville's preliminary interest in the science of vision development arose during her time as an optometry student. However, it was participation in a course of vision therapy as a patient that cemented her desire to focus on this field as a health care provider. Following completion of her own treatment program as an adult, she was able to experience detailed stereopsis for the first time in her life. This allowed her to perceive the world in three dimensions. Clouds popped out of the sky, and she was finally able to throw a softball accurately!In addition to her fellowship with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (she is one of only three fellows in the state of Nevada), Dr. Landerville is board-certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She is also a member of the International Sports Vision Association, the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, the College of Syntonic Optometry, and the American Optometric Association.Dr. Landerville has a special interest in amblyopia and strabismus, post-concussion management, and sports vision training, working with elite and professional athletes. She is a resident of Las Vegas, where she lives with her husband, daughter, and spunky Golden Retriever named Copley. While in school, he served as president of the American Optometric StudentAssociation, where he represented over 6,000 members. He is currently the Chair of the American Optometric Association's State Government Relations Committee and the Legislative Chair for the Nebraska Optometric Association.  In 2013 and 2015 he was awarded Young Optometrist of the Year for the Nebraska OptometricAssociation.  In 2016 he was awarded the Optometrist of the Year for theNebraska Optometric Association and the Young Optometrist of the Year for the AmericanOptometric Association.  In 2014 he was awarded Political Keyperson of the Year for theNebraska Optometric Association and Alumni of the Year from Skutt Catholic High School.Dr. Wolfe has a passion for education.  He is the founder of EyeCode Education, a companyspecializing in the clinical and billing education. Dr. Wolfe is a fellow in the AmericanAcademy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.  He also hasspecial  interests in therapeutic scleral contact lenses to correct visual distortions in patients with corneal diseases.  Dr. Wolfe is an avid runner and most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jaime, daughters Ryan, Paityn, Camryn, Logan, Maisyn and sons Lincoln, Deacon, Benton,and Bohden.

On Today's episode, Corporate-ish has a conversation with Dr. Brittany Wright. Dr. Wright is an Optometrist and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Missouri. Dr. Brittany Wright, originally from the Chicagoland area, attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science and Master of Science degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology. Dr. Wright completed her Doctorate of Optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, graduating with honors. During this time, highlights of her experience include serving as National President of the National Optometric Student Association, Vice President of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, selection as an SCO Student Ambassador and earning membership into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Society. She then went on to compete a residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Dr. Wright joined the University of Missouri with experience in primary care, cornea and refractive surgery, ocular disease management and geriatric care. Along with these areas, she is also involved in community health care, with focus on patient access and education. She oversees patient care at the UMSL Patient Care Center as well as community facilities in East St. Louis and St. Louis. Dr. Wright is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association and the St. Louis Optometric Society. Dr. Wright also spent time as a Professional Consultant for Johnson & Johnson Vision. About Dr. Lindsey Bull:A Certified Ocular Disease Trained Optometrist currently practicing at EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa, where she enjoys utilizing the skills she has been trained for, including anterior segment laser procedures, in office surgical procedures and treatment of a wide variety of ocular diseases. In addition to her daily practice Dr. Bull is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is active in the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.Dr. Bull has received a number of awards including the American Optometric Association “Eyes on the Future” award, the “Golden Retinoscope” and the “Outstanding Clinician Award” both presented by Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry, and was asked to present research on that she completed while attending NSU College of Optometry at the American Academy of Optometry conference. She was also published as the cover story in the October 2017 edition of Optometric Management.Originally from Novi, Michigan, Dr. Bull obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 2008. Dr. Bull received her Doctorate of Optometry from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, in 2012, and completed a residency in ocular disease through NSU at EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa in 2013.Dr. Bull enjoys serving patients less fortunate. She has participated and led three separate medical mission trips to Honduras, where she has helped provide eye care to over 2,500 patients. She is also a frequent volunteer in the Tulsa community providing her services in helping optometric students provide care to patients in desperate need. Dr. Bull plans are to continue to stay active and assist patients with their ocular needs in Oklahoma. Dr. Bull currently resides in Tulsa with her husband William Bull.
