Elena Donio is a seasoned leader with a wealth of experience in the tech industry. As the former CEO of Axiom and President at Concur, she played pivotal roles in driving growth and innovation. Elena's expertise extends to advising and serving on the boards of companies like Twilio, Benchling, Databricks, Contentful, and PayScale. With a passion for mentoring the next generation of talent, Elena's career has been marked by a commitment to authenticity, leadership, and creating meaningful impact on the next generation. You'll hear Lindsay and Elena discuss: Embrace Paradox in Leadership: Managing through paradox is essential for making strategic decisions that balance conflicting priorities, leading to long-term success and growth. Focus on the How, Not Just the What: A company's way of operating, values, and norms can differentiate it, create a positive work environment, and drive success beyond just the product or service. Maintain Personal Energy and Well-being: Taking care of yourself physically and mentally, including getting enough sleep and exercise, is vital for sustained high performance and creativity in leadership roles. Engage Employees Beyond Financial Rewards: During challenging times, leaders must find ways to keep employees connected to the mission, engaged, and excited about their work beyond monetary incentives. Create Career Opportunities Without Vacancies: Leaders should invent and provide growth opportunities for employees even when traditional career advancements are limited, fostering intellectual and professional development. Value Creative Thinking and Problem-Solving: Encouraging creativity and challenging individuals with significant problems and opportunities can keep employees motivated and intellectually stimulated, even in stagnant growth periods. Prioritize Personal Relationships and Relaxation: Spending quality time with loved ones, enjoying leisure activities, and relaxing can recharge leaders, enhance well-being, and improve decision-making. In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discusses St. Vincent Pallotti's view of self-denial as a means of growing closer to God and the Saints.Self-Denial“I intend always to offer the Lord the negation of my will, united and offered together with that of all the just, the saints, Mary, and Jesus.” ~ St. Vincent PallottiListen to the previous installment on SolitudeLent is a special time to fast, increase prayer, and increase our almsgiving. Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. We recall the waters of baptism in which we were also baptized into Christ's death, died to sin and evil, and began new life in Christ. In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discusses Ordinary Time.Ordinary Time is a time for growth and maturation, a time in which the mystery of Christ is called to penetrate ever more deeply into history until all things are finally caught up in Christ. This time, between Christmas and Lent, is particularly suited to meditate on Christ's public ministry and as a means to prepare for Lent, including considering what one's Lenten resolutions will be. The goal, toward which all of history is directed, is represented by the final Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Advent begins on the Sunday closest to the feast of St. Andrew, November 30th, and continues for four weeks and concludes with midnight Mass on Christmas. Families prepare for Christmas in advent in a variety of ways, such as setting up and Advent wreath on the dining room table or using a Jesse tree. In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discusses themes of Advent from St. Vincent Pallotti, specifically true joy from the Lord."Holy cheerfulness is a precious fruit of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and is thus the mark of a true servant of the Lord. So, in face, in looks, in reciprocal remarks and in a special way towards strangers, all must radiate holy cheerfulness and joy. It must be remembered that, if this characteristic is lacking, they will lead few people to God because they will not encourage many to feel enthusiastic about following Our Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand, their example of cheerfulness and joy will help people to understand that the following of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the basis of a life of true happiness." ~ St. Vincent PallottiView Advent resources provided by the Catholic Apostolate Center. We are called to pray for vocations, but also to encourage those who are considering a vocation.National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated November 5-11, 2023, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
