His crime: posting a Twitter meme, which mocked Hillary Clinton supporters he posted almost five years earlier. Mackey had run the pro-Trump twitter account @RickyVaughn99. The government claimed his satirical posts joking about “texting to vote” constituted a conspiracy on "social media to spread disinformation relevant to the impending 2016 Presidential Election." Specifically, the government was concerned that "disinformation spread by these individuals often took the form of 'memes.'"   Despite living in Florida, Mackey was prosecuted in the Eastern District of New York before two liberal judges and was convicted. He was sentenced to seven months in federal prison on October 18, and ordered to report federal prison on January 8, 2024. He will appeal the case. In a notable exchange, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) accused the bureau of violating the Fourth Amendment by routinely accessing communications between Americans without receiving a constitutionally necessary court-order beforehand. 3:15pm- Investigative reporter for The Daily Caller James Lynch writes that “the Department of Justice (DOJ) secured court orders to prevent Google from informing congressional staffers of the DOJ's efforts to monitor their communications, according to court documents. Hillary Clinton laundered campaign money through a disgraced law firm to pay disgraced foreign spies and fabricators of evidence to pretend Donald Trump was a Putin asset. Meanwhile, ABC and NBC news ignored rioters—advocating on behalf of gun control legislation—who forced their way into Tennessee's state capitol in Nashville on Thursday. Speaking from the Senate floor, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) argued for a ban of the social media application TikTok—citing its parent company's, ByteDance, close connections to the Chinese government. In a compelling rebuttal, Sen. Rand Paul argued that a ban would violate the 1st Amendment and that by censoring content the U.S. government would, ironically, adopt the policies of the Chinese Communist Party. While visiting Rolling Fork, Mississippi on Friday, President Joe Biden vowed that “the town of Rolling Stone will be back” following a destructive tornado.

Law in the US assumes the innocence of a defendant and the prosecution must prove guilt for a conviction.” 3:25pm Attorney Kate Shaw—Law Professor at Yeshica University & an expert on Constitutional Law—appeared on ABC News and seemingly questioned whether Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has jurisdiction to indict Donald Trump. In the summer of 2019, a very public fight unfurled in Bloomington, Indiana — over accusations that Sarah Dye and Douglas Mackey, who sold produce at the city-run farmers' market, were members of an organization classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League as a white nationalist hate group (an association that would soon be confirmed). Abby Ang, a graduate student at Indiana University in Bloomington who had also become a community organizer, took a lead role in publicizing this connection and pressuring the city to remove Sarah and Doug's farm from their market. But when the city refused to do anything of the sort, Abby found herself in a fast-moving conflict that came to include the full spectrum of American politics: liberal elites, progressive organizers, antifascist activists, right-wing militias, farmers, customers, police, Black Lives Matter leaders… and of course, White nationalists (or in this particular case, as they preferred to be identified, White Identitarians). In a matter of weeks, the story hit mainstream national news, the farmers' market became a political battleground, and an Asian American professor was arrested by Bloomington Police — showing what it really looks like to wield White power in America.
