Novita Amadei è nata a Parma e vive in Francia. EMQs: Is toxic masculinity a government problem?

This week, Ed Balls and George Osborne mull museums and memes via bank holidays and pennies. With listeners telling us their locations of choice, funeral director Ross ranks highly with his admission that Ed and George are sometimes listened to in a hearse on the drive home. The pair consider: what are the merits of regulating the funeral industry?Should our cultural institutions be charging more for access?George calls upon his expertise as Chair of the British Museum to weigh it up. Meanwhile, Ed shares his own research into the economics of a bank holiday… do we really stand to lose billions if the government was to introduce another?Toxic masculinity and online safety are in the spotlight in the wake of Netflix's hit show Adolescence, with research indicating that young people in the UK are particularly worried about these issues. Ed and George look at the role of government in addressing their concerns, before assessing whether the humble penny should remain a staple of British life. And a touch of nostalgia …  a listener reminds the economic duo of the ‘Budget Rap Battle', put together by Sky News when the pair were on opposite sides of the dispatch box. Ed expresses scepticism that such memes can make a political difference, although both agree that Nick Clegg's I'm Sorry remix was a damaging – albeit amusing – moment in the Lib Dem leader's career…. Become a member of POLITICAL CURRENCY GOLD

In the wake of Donald Trump's ‘Liberation Day', Ed Balls and George Osborne break down the economic thinking – or lack thereof – behind President's tariffs. Rather than the numbers emerging from complicated analysis, Ed explains how they are merely reached through a simple formula. Will the Federal Reserve be able to cut interest rates as quickly as Trump would like in the wake of his tariffs?  Back home, Keir Starmer is calling for calm and resisting a push to reciprocate, as he seeks to strike an ‘economic prosperity deal' with the US. Is a wider security concern at play here? And on the other side of the globe, Australians are preparing for a federal election, called by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for May 3rd. It's currently looking like a neck and neck contest. Peter Dutton, his Liberal Party opponent, has previously made Elon Musk-like noises, creating his very own shadow ministry for government efficiency… But at a time when Musk might be finding himself out of favour, is this a wise way for Dutton to position himself? Become a member of POLITICAL CURRENCY GOLD

A whole host of Treasury buffs have sent in their questions this week in wake of the Spring Statement, for Ed Balls and George Osborne to answer. Former Chancellor Jeremy Hunt asks whether in the light of Labour's announcing civil service reductions and welfare reform, the government is “stealing our clothes”? Lord Macpherson, Permanent Secretary to no less than three Chancellors, praises Rachel Reeves' “courageous” claim of non-negotiability on her fiscal rules (which George translates as a euphemism for ‘bonkers').Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride is predictably critical of the Chancellor's choices, but how much is Rachel Reeves to blame for the situation she finds herself in? And Ruth Curtice, Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation and another former Treasury civil servant, sparks a conversation about how living standards will ultimately dictate Labour's electoral chances. Plus, Ed and George also clash over Keir Starmer's use of “coalition of the willing” - is this a conscious attempt to provoke American sentiment, or simply a widely used buzzphrase? You could have been listening to this episode of EMQs early and ad-free with a Political Currency Gold subscription! Has Chancellor Rachel Reeves got it right? Ed Balls and George Osborne provide their immediate reaction to her Spring Statement, questioning whether she's missed her big opportunity for a relaunch. George likens her approach to ‘staying at the Roulette table', having failed to land on black the first time around… He also compares her inflexibility to fiscal rules to his own approach while Chancellor, before the pair turn their attention to the government's own impact assessment on welfare reform. Ed explains what the findings of the report potentially means for millions of families across the country. And, having returned from the HSBC Global Investment Summit in Hong Kong mere hours before recording, they turn their attention to uncertainty over the global economy following the announcement of yet more tariffs from Donald Trump. They also ponder somewhat gloomy international perceptions of the UK, with Brexit and Liz Truss being consistent themes that are still raised in conversations abroad. Finally the US national security establishment strayed into farcical territory this week, sharing operational details of a strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen on the messaging app Signal - and accidentally including the editor of The Atlantic, Jeff Goldberg, in the conversation. George and Ed express their bemusement at this turn of events and share their own experiences in government of receiving highly classified intelligence... You could have been listening to this episode of EMQs early and ad-free with a Political Currency Gold subscription! With talk of raiding pensions, George Osborne and Ed Balls consider how to increase the incentives for working people to save. As former Treasury insiders, the pair reflect on specific parts of their own previous pension reforms and ask: what approaches would they take if they were still setting policy today? They're also pressed on recent arguments made by Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak that Russian assets held in European banks should be directly channelled towards the Ukrainian war effort. Is this a viable approach to funding support for Ukraine? And how can Mark Carney become Prime Minister of Canada without sitting as a member of Parliament? From Lord Halifax to Alec Douglas-Home, George provides an overview of historical precedent for such an occurrence in the UK whilst explaining the impracticalities of it happening today. They may have both been leading Brexiteers but Dominic Cummings and Nigel Farage were once fierce rivals, vying to be the top campaign of the referendum. As recently as last year Cummings accused Farage of ‘surrounding himself with useless characters' – so why are we now hearing of a secret meeting between the two before Christmas? Ed Balls and George Osborne pick apart the significance of this rendezvous at a time when Reform are contending with a senior bust up, as well as an imminent by-election in Runcorn where polling has them out in front. In a week where Diane Abbott and Andy Burnham backed Ed's criticisms of the government's welfare reform, Liz Kendall has been in the Commons to announce further detail of Labour's plan. And they reflect on what options Chancellor Rachel Reeves will have in her Spring Statement (or mini-budget) next week. Can she create a reset moment?Plus, in London this week was the new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Jarek highlighted the upcoming matchup for the women's basketball team, who are set to face LSU in the Big Ten Tournament. The anticipation for this critical game added an extra layer of excitement to the discussion. Aaron, bringing his insights from the diamond, addressed the pressing need for improvement in the baseball team's offensive performance. He lamented the current struggles at the plate, emphasizing the importance of securing hitters who can drive in runs and contribute to the scoreboard. As the discussion transitioned to football, partygoers engaged in talk about the wide receiver room and its promising future. Although this group contains a significant number of young talents, it boasts some star potential, with Jacorey Barney returning for his second year, as well as the addition of transfer Nyzaih Hunter from Cal and senior transfer Dane Key from Kentucky. Coach Shorts, the wide receivers coach, and Coach Holgorsen, the offensive coordinator, have a track record of building formidable offenses, leaving fans eager to see how they will develop this promising roster next season. Overall, the lively discussions painted an optimistic picture for Nebraska athletics, including Track and Field and Bowling as well. As always, Go Big Red!

W 2018 roku niewielkie, utworzone specjalnie na tę okazję czeskie Warhorse Studios wypuściło w świat grę komputerową Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Osadzona w autentycznych historycznych i geograficznych realiach gra podbiła serca wielu graczy. Do dziś sprzedano osiem milionów egzemplarzy, KCD doczekało się też kilku rozszerzeń. Za tydzień swoją premierę będzie miała Kingdom Come Deliverance II - będąca wprost kontynuacją pierwszej części.

Jarek Bieniecki to postać, której historia biznesowa fascynuje i inspiruje. To gotowość do podjęcia ryzyka, przekonanie o własnych możliwościach i umiejętność przetrwania nawet w najtrudniejszych warunkach.

Szybko jednak przekształcił swoje zainteresowanie technologią w działalność gospodarczą, by w 2002 roku uruchomić pierwszy sklep internetowy oferujący aparaty fotograficzne. How do you know when to replace certain parts? They begin to talk to you. Find out what, why, how, and when when Mike, Paul, and Colleen tackle this and other questions. Email podcasts@aopa.org for a chance to be on the show. Join the world's largest aviation community at aopa.org/join Full notes below: John is part of a club that owns a Cessna 172. Another member told him he shouldn't move the rudder by hand when he preflights. Mike said to make sure he pushes it at a rivet line to ensure he doesn't bend the sheet metal, but otherwise it's ok. Paul describes how the system is built. He said in a Skyhawk the rudder pedal tension is created by springs that pull them toward the firewall. There's not a cable tension spec. The steering bungees are between the rudder pedals and the nose gear. If you get in and push the pedals when stationary, you are putting stress on the bungees. Jarek wants to know if the FAA has lost its mind. He is wondering about the FAA's AC 20-105, which says that engines that run past TBO have a higher rate of failure, and that engine overhauls at TBO are usually cheaper than those that are run beyond. Mike said Lycoming had previously issued a white paper that said that the typical lifespan of a crankshaft was 14,000 hours. Camshafts have corrosion issues, and don't cause failures, and sometimes gears need to be replaced. But rarely does time impact safety. There are people inside the FAA who disagree with the policy, Mike says. On one hand they require manufacturers to set a TBO. On the other hand, they tell Part 91 operators that they can ignore it. Typically engines that fail that have run beyond TBO tend to be not related to age, but because of maintenance resulting from the fact that the engine is older. In fact, it's usually the opposite, Mike says. Lower time engines typically fail because of infant mortality. Aaron and a partner recently purchased a Seneca with turbo Continental TSIO-360-KBs. They installed new intercoolers and the manual revision suggests new power settings. He's ignored the chart and is flying around 30 inches lean of peak. Mike said the chart is interesting if you are operating rich of peak, but irrelevant lean of peak. The power output of the engine is determined by whichever component is in shortest supply. Rich of peak, you have more fuel than you need, so power is controlled by air through the throttle and the prop. Lean of peak, fuel is in shortest supply, so power is controlled through the mixture. He would run a slightly reduced throttle, just to avoid overworking the turbos. Rory has a Cardinal that he bought 12 years ago, and he hadn't ever changed the ignition wires. So he started to wonder about when and why to change them. The hosts agree that if a wire fails it feels like a stumble or mis-fire because it just takes one spark plug offline. They say to run them on condition, and only change them when they start talking to you through mis-firing.

Eliteclimb makes the lightest ice tools in the world, and it's not even close. It's possible because Jarosław "Jarek" Walewski uses a mix of carbon and kevlar composites, and nothing else—the only metal in his tools are the bolts and picks. The one-man brand has been bucking industry trends for over a decade now, and it's his unique position as an independent craftsman that lets Jarek pursue solutions that the bigger brands ignore.By being attuned to the community and working with some of the world's best, their tools have been used on no oxygen ascents of Lhotse, expeditions to places like K2 and Broad Peak and at the highest-end of drytooling today. In this episode, we chat about:

He's built a profitable business in a field where he's had to compete with the likes of Google, by developing cutting edge language translation technology. The company says it now has “a customer network of 100k+ businesses, governments and other organisations worldwide” including Zendesk, Nikkei, Coursera and Deutsche Bahn. Kutylowski sat down with Sifted editor Amy Lewin to talk about DeepL's technology, how it's built an AI business with comparatively little VC funding and about how the craze around large language models is creating a new type of competition.

Hashoshi interviews Jarek Hirniak, Protocol Architect at Axo, to discuss the universal trading protocol that uses the eUTXO blockchain model to its fullest extent. While you may be familiar with DEXs like Uniswap that use account-based blockchains like Ethereum, building DeFi primitives on a blockchain like Cardano offer a wildly different set of both opportunities and constraints; these allow developers to build a variety of unique types of decentralized financial products that are only possible in this different environment. Learn more about Axo by reading the paper or visiting their website: Paper - https://www.axo.trade/whitepaper.pdf Website - https://www.axo.trade ☕️ Subscribe to the Crypto over Coffee newsletter for weekly alpha, analysis and more! https://cryptoovercoffee.beehiiv.com/subscribe Takeaways AXO is a decentralized finance project that aims to solve the challenges of building an automated market maker (AMM) by leveraging the UTXO model. The UTXO model used by Cardano allows for independent actors to define their own rules for trading, leading to more efficient markets. AXO's X-Lang is a domain-specific language that allows users to define trading rules and create programmable swaps. AXO plans to expand its functionality to include lending and borrowing, options, futures, perpetuals, and prediction markets. Axo is focused on the evolution of X-Lang and the potential for decentralization in trading protocols. Composability and user experience are key considerations in DeFi, and Axo aims to address these challenges. Axo is working on user education and onboarding to make DeFi more accessible to a wider audience. Axo has a unique approach to yield farming and is developing a new model to reward liquidity providers. Users can start using Axo by visiting the Axo website and exploring the basic and pro modes. Scalability challenges in Cardano have been addressed by Axo through the use of the EUTXO model and the OME network.
