Marsha Kaye Lyle was a 41-year old woman living in Seale, Alabama in May of 2020.  She was living with an inoperable brain tumor, and was being treated for schizoaffective disorder.  Her mother and sister, who lived in Florida, helped keep tabs on her by setting up weekly check-in phone calls with Marsha.  But by that May, Marsha stopped answering their calls. Welfare checks from authorities discovered that Marsha was at home, but might have been acting oddly.  By the evening of May 5, 2020, Marsha left her Seale, Alabama home and started driving. On a humid September day in 1997, a man walking his dog discovered the nude body of 26-year-old Tracy Habersham in a ditch near Fort Benning, Georgia. She had been strangled. What investigators couldn't know then was that her death marked the beginning of a six-year killing spree.Part 2 of 2VICTIM PROFILE:Paul Durousseau's victims shared heartbreaking commonalities. They were young African American women—many of them mothers—struggling to build better lives. Tyresa Mack was raising three small children. Nikia Kilpatrick was six months pregnant when she died; her two young sons, aged 11 months and 2 years, were found alive but malnourished beside her body two days later. Shawanda McCalister was also pregnant. These women trusted the wrong person, and that trust cost them everything.CASE SIGNIFICANCE:Between 1997 and 2003, Durousseau used his various jobs—security guard, taxi driver—to identify and gain access to vulnerable women. His method was consistent: gain trust, enter their homes, bind them, sexually assault them, then strangle them with whatever cord was available. A phone cord. A coaxial cable. An extension cord tied in a distinctive military-style slipknot. His victims included Tracy Habersham, Tyresa Mack, Nicole Williams, Nikia Kilpatrick, Shawanda McCalister, Jovanna Jefferson, and Surita Cohen. On a humid September day in 1997, a man walking his dog discovered the nude body of 26-year-old Tracy Habersham in a ditch near Fort Benning, Georgia. She had been strangled. What investigators couldn't know then was that her death marked the beginning of a six-year killing spree.Part 1 of 2VICTIM PROFILE:Paul Durousseau's victims shared heartbreaking commonalities. They were young African American women—many of them mothers—struggling to build better lives. Tyresa Mack was raising three small children. Nikia Kilpatrick was six months pregnant when she died; her two young sons, aged 11 months and 2 years, were found alive but malnourished beside her body two days later. Shawanda McCalister was also pregnant. These women trusted the wrong person, and that trust cost them everything.CASE SIGNIFICANCE:Between 1997 and 2003, Durousseau used his various jobs—security guard, taxi driver—to identify and gain access to vulnerable women. His method was consistent: gain trust, enter their homes, bind them, sexually assault them, then strangle them with whatever cord was available. A phone cord. A coaxial cable. An extension cord tied in a distinctive military-style slipknot. His victims included Tracy Habersham, Tyresa Mack, Nicole Williams, Nikia Kilpatrick, Shawanda McCalister, Jovanna Jefferson, and Surita Cohen. German authorities also suspect him in additional unsolved murders near U.S. military bases during his Army deployment.CONTENT WARNINGS:This episode contains detailed discussion of sexual assault, strangulation, domestic violence, and child endangerment. For many Christians, witnessing (sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others) can be very challenging - in fact, for some it is something to be feared! I know! I've been there and, like many, still feel some of those challenges today. Well, it doesn't have to be something to be feared, but it should be more of a glad willingness to share the love of Christ with others because of what He did for us. Without doubt, Christians around the world have suffered persecution throughout the ages. Many experience suffering for their faith even in our times as well. Nigeria has come into the spotlight recently mainly through a couple of unexpected sources: Bill Maher and President Donald Trump. Both shared strong words regarding the current situation, along with the struggles that began in Nigeria around 2009. Many have lost their lives, lost property, and many churches have been destroyed. This October 31st marked 508 years since Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. In the many years since this world-changing event, the Protestant/Evangelical church has gone through many evolutions. Some were times of great revival and others were times of suffering, wars, and into the 1800s, many new denominations were formed. Instead of recognizing the pagan Halloween day, it's important for Christians to remember their roots. Arthur McNeil, a young black male, is pulled over by a Jacksonville FL deputy, and within minutes he's being dragged from his car by a group of deputies, punched, driven to the ground, and forcibly handcuffed.   Now that same young black male has released the cell phone video he took of his interaction with police that day—and it's leading to public outrage over police violence. Now McNeil has retained Attorney Benjamin Crump, a four-star general of the racial-grievance industrial complex,  to leverage this outrage into a rich civil settlement that commonly amounts to many millions of dollars.But wait—does the cell phone video accurately describe what happened? Colt and David sit down with singer/songwriter Christian Stalnecker.  Stalnecker is a Grammy-nominated writer and producer.  Originally from Jacksonville FL, Christian cut his teeth touring as a young adult in a nationally touring Christian revival family band. In high school, Christian found his voice as a pop artist.
