Erik Wetterling, Founder and Editor of The Hedgeless Horseman website, joins us to discuss the opportunities he is seeing for portfolio rebalancing or “value shuffling,” due to the extreme market volatility and pricing dislocations in many resource equities.  This volatility is caused from across-the-board sympathetic selling in most market sectors on back of reactions to the Trump tariff policies.   --> Key themes covered in this interview:   Precious Metals prices are still at very high levels, and yet many gold and silver equities have had disproportionate selloffs in sympathy with US general equity markets.   Comparisons to this recent rapid correction in the gold stocks, versus other strong corrections; like what we saw during the pandemic crash or bear-market market lows of late 2015 into early 2016. Erik notes the much different backdrop in the fundamental value of the producers and developers based on current gold price in contrast to those other market crashes.     What are the actual effects of tariffs on US domestic resource companies, versus companies operating internationally; as it relates to cost inputs like oil, labor, chemicals, steel, and capex to build new mines.   Why volatility is the bread and better of value investors.  Erik mentions that volatility creates the opportunities for value shuffling in one's portfolio and is the “poor man's dry powder.”   What are the type of precious metals stocks that Erik is most interested in rotating into, considering the current backdrop of blanket selling across the whole sector.   Click here to visit Erik's site – The Hedgeless Horseman

No Contact: Now What? When going through a breakup, many people understand the importance of giving space, or as I call it, going "no contact." However, once you're in no contact, the question becomes, now what? In this article, I'll help guide you through the next steps, whether or not your ex decides to reach out. Get Coach Lee's Emergency Breakup Kit at https://MyExBackCoach.com/emergency-breakup-kit 1. When Your Ex Reaches Out The biggest question I hear is, What should I do if my ex contacts me? This is a pivotal moment, as it usually indicates they're feeling unsure about the breakup. They may be open to reconnecting but are likely still on the fence. Here's how to handle it: Stay Calm and Avoid Pressure: When your ex reaches out, do your best to remain calm. Avoid pressuring them, both emotionally and in conversation. It's normal to feel excited, but expressing too much eagerness could overwhelm them or make them feel obligated. Instead, keep things light and casual. Avoid Emotional Conversations: Try to steer clear of heavy discussions about the breakup, especially in the first interaction. They know you're not together, and reminding them of it can trigger feelings of guilt or discomfort. If they ask how you're doing, keep your response light. “I've been alright, and things are getting better,” is often enough. Changing the subject after this brief response can keep the interaction positive. Prepare a List of Neutral Topics: It's a good idea to pre-plan some questions or topics to discuss that don't involve the breakup. Having a few in mind will help you keep the conversation smooth and reduce the risk of an emotional slip-up. 2. Create Opportunities for Face-to-Face Interaction Once you've reestablished contact, aim for a face-to-face meeting if it feels natural. The goal is not to pressure them into this, but to look for subtle cues that suggest they might be open to meeting. Here's how to go about it: Gauge Their Openness: If your ex hints at a get-together or seems receptive, you can test the waters with a light suggestion like, “Maybe we can grab coffee sometime to catch up.” If they're interested, they'll respond positively. If they hesitate, back off and give them space. Keep it Short and Leave Them Wanting More: When you do meet, make sure to end things on a high note. Keep the meeting to around 45 minutes to an hour. Leave while the interaction is still enjoyable, so they walk away wishing it had lasted longer. This helps create a positive memory of the interaction, encouraging them to reach out again. 3. What to Do if Your Ex Does Not Reach Out If weeks or even months pass and your ex doesn't reach out, you'll need to make a decision. Many people find this silence difficult, but it can also serve as a valuable indicator of your ex's level of interest. Consider Their Level of Investment: Ask yourself: Is this person showing the qualities of a committed partner? If someone truly cares, they will likely reach out within a reasonable period of time. If they don't, consider what that says about their willingness to invest in a relationship with you. Decide Whether to Reach Out for Closure: Some people feel they need to reach out for closure. If that's the case, keep your message simple, such as, “I hope you're doing well.” A statement like this doesn't apply any pressure for them to respond. If they reply, you can take the conversation further. If they don't, you have a clear answer and may find it easier to move on. Weighing Your Options: Long periods of no contact can be revealing. If you're nearing several months or even a year without hearing from them, it's important to consider whether they're truly the right person for you. Relationships should involve mutual investment, and if they're comfortable without any contact, you might be better off moving forward. 4. Building the Face-to-Face Connection In some cases, getting to a face-to-face meeting after your ex has reestablished contact can be a powerful step toward reconciliation. If you find yourself in this situation, treat the interaction as if it were a first date. Focus on Positive, Shared Memories: Talk about lighthearted memories or inside jokes. Remind them, subtly, of the good times. Don't bring up relationship issues or anything too intense. Instead, focus on rekindling the positive aspects that made your relationship enjoyable. End on a High Note: When the meeting is going well, cut it short before it reaches a natural end. You might say, “I have an appointment, so I need to head out, but this was great.” If they walk away wishing the meeting had lasted longer, they're more likely to want to see you again. 5. When It's Time to Move On Not every relationship will come back together, and sometimes, no contact can help clarify whether this person is truly right for you. If they're unwilling to reconnect after a long period of time, or if they don't show signs of commitment, it may be time to consider moving on. Focus on Yourself: If it becomes clear they're not reaching out or open to reconciliation, shift your focus to yourself and your own growth. Finding someone who values commitment and understands the normal ebb and flow of relationships can bring you more stability and happiness in the long run. The Power of No Contact for You, Too: No contact isn't just a tool to bring your ex back. It's also a chance for you to assess whether they're a suitable partner. If they truly care, they'll reach out. If they don't, you've saved yourself further heartache and opened the door for a healthier, more committed relationship down the road. In the end, whether or not your ex reaches out, no contact can be a powerful experience that helps you gain clarity and emotional resilience. By following these principles, you're giving yourself the best chance for healing and, if it's meant to be, reconciliation. Remember that a lasting relationship involves more than initial passion—it requires a willingness to work through the ups and downs together. Insights: How to Build Team Capacity

Culture and Leadership Connections Podcast

In this episode, we explore capacity building, what it means, the mindset needed, and how to effectively build team capacity.Capacity building empowers individuals and groups with the skills to tackle complex tasks and work toward a shared vision. However, it's essential not to fall into the trap of thinking only the leader or a facilitator can drive this growth. While facilitators can help, true and lasting capacity is built when the entire group contributes to creating their desired future together.Attitudes Needed to Build Team Capacity:Communication dynamics that encourage and supportWillingness to listen, ask questions, check understanding, and contribute without judgmentDesire to serve, empathy, and patienceWillingness to address challenges and support others in addressing themExample 1: Help Each Other OutI recently worked on a project with a study circle that included a business owner facing challenges after opening a store. She had to manage more staff, deal with absences, train employees, and balance family life, as her husband worked night shifts. Although the study circle provided important support, she worried about neglecting her children. We discussed her desired outcomes and obstacles, and together we found a potential solution: hiring a nearby teenager seeking work experience to watch her kids during the study circle. This could foster a positive relationship between the teen and the children, providing mutual support. However, the solution depends on various factors, like the teen and parents agreeing and ensuring good chemistry. With mutual care, the group can build a supportive, capacity-building environment.Example 2: Work Without Play Makes Jack a Dull BoyWhen working toward a goal, especially in project management, teams can feel drained by the details and setbacks, leading to exhaustion and a lack of motivation. If a team appears apathetic or fatigued, what they need is fun, food, and informal interaction. Seriousness and fatigue can be relieved through team-building exercises, but simply gathering for food and laughter can greatly improve morale. A team not functioning well is often one where no one is smiling or laughing. Humor is a key indicator of a healthy, capacity-building team. So, if humor and joy are missing, it's essential to help bring them back to foster a supportive and effective environment.Example 3: Create Opportunities to Open UpManagers understand the importance of 1-on-1 conversations but often struggle with implementation because they approach them as problem-solving sessions rather than opportunities to connect. These meetings should focus on appreciating the individual and discussing their personal and professional experiences through simple questions about challenges and successes. The goal is to build trust and relationships, not to give feedback or solve issues. For larger teams, managers should meet with supervisors, while smaller teams benefit from more frequent 1-on-1s. Regularly scheduled meetings every few months foster a supportive environment, preventing problems and enhancing team dynamics.Example 4: Be Interested, Not InterestingBeing genuinely interested helps the team move toward a desired goal. When you become absorbed in your interest in the team's progress, you naturally rise in their eyes as someone with capacity, credibility, and respect. The more you try to insist on your greatness, the less impactful you appear. The more you help resource the team, the more your esteem in their eyes grows.Support the show

In this episode of "Father Joe," hosts Joe Rockey and Father Boniface Hicks dive deep into the concept of creating opportunities for goodness and how to follow God in our everyday lives. Reflecting on their previous discussions about Mary and the fourth commandment, they explore the profound idea of making intentional choices that lead us closer to God and enable us to do good in the world.Joe begins by addressing a common question: how can we create opportunities for others to choose goodness and follow God? He emphasizes the importance of making these opportunities explicit and actionable, even though we are not divine beings with the power of the archangel Gabriel. Joe points out, “I think there's a lot more people that will respond to, yes, I will, but they don't want to figure out how to create the opportunity. And the more I believe the opportunities being created are the catalyst to the effect.”Father Boniface responds by highlighting the importance of being in a prayerful state and open to listening, just as Mary was when she received the Annunciation. He explains, “His personal invitation to do good, to grow in holiness, to love beyond what might be sort of necessary from justice, that's a whispered voice, because otherwise he would overwhelm our freedom.” This gentle call from God requires us to be attentive and proactive in seeking out and responding to these opportunities. The conversation then shifts to modern distractions, particularly the pervasive influence of smartphones. Joe and Father Boniface discuss how these devices can lead to "motionlessness," where people are constantly distracted and unable to fully engage with the present moment or the people around them. Joe notes, “Most of us do not carry a television around with us 24/7 but there are many people out there that if they don't know where their phone is, it's a crisis.”Father Boniface adds, “Having a good cell phone hygiene is one way to be present to life. And I think in general, there's a...well, why is distraction also so attractive? I think we have a lot that we want to escape from.” He emphasizes the need for intentional actions and sacrifices to overcome these distractions and fully commit to our relationships and responsibilities. The hosts also touch on the broader societal issues of diminishing attention spans and the need for intentional living. Joe highlights the importance of questioning societal norms and finding ways to disconnect from distractions, stating, “We're a social species, we need to be a part of the group, but we also need to do what's right and question what's going on with the group.”In conclusion, Father Boniface offers a simple yet powerful call to action: “Give your attention to someone. That's an act of love. And love lasts forever. And the more that we sow the seeds of love, giving attention, making sacrifices, putting others first, just simple acts of service can make a tremendous difference.”Join us in this enlightening discussion and discover practical ways to create more opportunities for goodness in your life. In an enlightening episode of Mastering Modern Selling, Samantha McKenna, CEO of #SamSales Consulting, brings her vibrant energy and unmatched expertise to the table. As a veteran in enterprise sales with a rich background including leading roles at major corporations like LinkedIn, McKenna offers a fresh perspective on sales strategies that break the conventional mold. Here are five essential insights she shared, designed to elevate the sales experience:The Delayed Thank-You Tactic: McKenna introduces a subtle yet powerful technique called the 'delayed thank-you.' Instead of immediately responding with gratitude after a proposal submission, she suggests waiting until the promised follow-up time. This tactic ingeniously nudges the client to remember and honor their commitment, increasing the likelihood of a timely response.Proactive Calendar Management: To combat the common issue of unresponsive prospects post-initial agreement, McKenna recommends proactively scheduling meetings for a future date, giving clients an easy way to confirm or reschedule. This assertive approach minimizes limbo and boosts the efficiency of securing important sales discussions.Humanizing Sales Interactions: Emphasizing manners and authenticity, McKenna advises sales professionals to humanize their interactions. By prioritizing genuine communication and avoiding salesy jargon, sellers can foster better relationships and stand out in a profession often marred by stereotypes of pushiness.Navigating LinkedIn as a Sales Tool: Leveraging her expertise from years at LinkedIn, McKenna stresses the importance of using LinkedIn not only to project thought leadership but also to engage actively with potential clients' content. This strategy helps build relationships and positions sales professionals as attentive and informed partners.Expanding the Sandbox: McKenna shares a case study of engaging a potential client through strategic interactions on LinkedIn. By consistently engaging with the client's posts and offering value, she was able to secure a significant business opportunity, showcasing the effectiveness of thoughtful social selling. This episode merges traditional sales techniques with modern digital strategies, particularly in leveraging social media for meaningful business relationships. These insights not only challenge the status quo but also invite sales professionals to refine their methods and mindset toward more effective selling.

How to build trust with your new hire

At the foundation of any clinical relationship is trust: trust between clinicians and patients, trust among the interprofessional team members, and trust between a new hire and the preceptor. Building a trusting relationship between the new hire and preceptor takes time, but there are some things that a preceptor can do to develop the trusting relationship.Be Explicit About ExpectationsExpectations within nursing practice are often divided into two buckets: the written competency-based activities and the unwritten rules of practice. Quite different from nursing school curriculum, where grades are generated on very specific evaluation criteria, the OR requires new hires to integrate into the culture of daily practice that varies among services and surgeons. The idea that the same procedure can differ due to a surgeon's preference for instruments is a concept with which new hires struggle.Create Opportunities for Clinical ExperiencesOne of the most challenging aspects of precepting is entrusting clinical care to the new hire. Preceptors often find themselves in close proximity of the new hire because they cannot relinquish control of patient care, which presents challenges when the new hire is nearing the completion of the orientation period. Additionally, preceptors question whether or not the new hire is competent to practice independently and, therefore, can be entrusted with patient care.Form an Environment of FeedbackNew hires require feedback from their preceptors to correct behaviors and grow professionally. The preceptor should establish the frequency and format of feedback delivery, such as by summarizing feedback at the end of each shift, taking time to emphasize what went well and what needs improvement.Create a Psychologically Safe EnvironmentPsychological safety, according to Edmundson and Lei, is the “perceptions of consequences of taking interpersonal risks in a particular context such as a workplace.”3 Psychological safety occurs when the orientee can anticipate how the preceptor gives feedback, responds to questions, and acts as a backup when the team asks specific questions regarding the procedure or care of the patient. Providing a structure for how feedback will be given and inviting the orientee to give feedback about the preceptor's style of teaching can help create a psychologically safe environment, as can encouraging the orientee to ask questions in a place where others will not overhear the questions and make judgments about the orientee's knowledge level. Another way for the preceptor to foster psychological safety is to stay close by the orientee, especially early in the orientation period, to help answer questions that team members may ask.Take a look at written rules versus unwritten rules, action steps to develop clinical experiences, and download a feedback form at: https://www.aorn.org/the-stitch/article/building-trust-with-your-new-hireThere's more Periop Talk at: https://www.aorn.org/about-aorn/aorn-newsroom/periop-talk#ornurse #nurselife #nurse #healthcareSupport the show

The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

Connection is critical for building relationships, growing your network, and increasing opportunities. Success is achieved through building relationships to grow your network of like-minded people who will support you and further connect you. Opportunities arise through connection and relationships. Strategies to employ to build relationships and grow your network Be good at your job - every person you come in contact with appreciates you and understands that you provide the value they need. In other words, they see that you understand their needs and provide for them. Be interesting - what makes you unique? Share personal things to help you stand out, maybe that you have a dog. Join organizations to demonstrate your skills by helping them and building relationships. Don't only try to meet important people. You never know when someone might be important in your life. Someone may be important, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be important to you or in your life. Focus on building relationships with people who are different than you. Follow up - connect and then build and maintain relationships Interact appropriately Be sincere - don't be too calculated Have fun while building relationships and growing your network Add value to your relationships Put yourself in the shoes of other people. Ellen shared the example of the contractor who removed her popcorn ceilings and how he went above and beyond what Ellen expected or hired him for. When you put yourself in other people's shoes, you'll think of and do little things that make a difference in their lives. Don't make assumptions about what people need Instead of making assumptions about what people need, get to know them and approach your relationships with empathy. Think of the big picture, not necessarily what they come to you for or what's on the surface. Ellen shared the example of the law student and creating wills. Building relationships is about creating an emotional connection. Don't make assumptions. Get curious and ask questions from a place of empathy and people will appreciate you and want to continue building the relationship with you. They will see you as providing true value. Be good at your job and provide additional value and people will understand what's in your heart. They will then want to recommend you and share you with others. In addition, the relationship and further connections and relationships will develop naturally.   Read the full show notes and access all links and resources. We also discussed how this led to thousands of dollars in revenue. As the discussion unravels, discover how to launch and sustain a successful podcast. We share our unique experiences from recent book launches, stressing the importance of consistency and building meaningful relationships along the journey.
