With overseas territories from all over the world taking part, the Coupe de France is one of the world's most intriguing domestic football competitions. But who funds it? How do they decide who plays home and away? And could an overseas side play in a UEFA competition if they won the tournament. In Part 1, co-hosts Lee Wingate and Paul Watson answer all the key questions about the French Cup and reflect on their recent journey to the sleepy rural town of Saint-Mesmin to watch sixth-tier Saint-Méziéry play host to Tahitian cup winners AS Pirae in the seventh round of the tournament. Next up in Part 2: the world's most isolated clubs! There's a mention for Rapa Nui FC of Easter Island, who hosted the mighty Colo Colo in a 2009 Chilean Cup clash, Khabarovsk, who travel around 100,000km per season to fulfil their away fixtures in the Russian second tier, and Perth Glory, who cut an isolated figure in the Australian A-League. That's followed by the remarkable story of Papua New Guinea's exit from the Pacific Games and a look back at some other harsh tournament eliminations, including the coin toss at EURO 1968 and the madness of the 1994 Caribbean Cup, where goals briefly counted double! In the third and final segment, it's time for a round-up of the remaining stories. Erling Haaland paid for 200 fans of his first club, Bryne, to travel to Kristiansand for a play-off match, only for the Start groundsman to fail to turn on the undersoil heating and the game to be cancelled. There's cucumber throwing and so much more besides at the Mascot Olympics in Spain, which was won by Valencia's representative Amunt the Bat. And finally, two Tiktokers have bought and relocated Latvian second-division club Leevon Saldus with the aim of getting them promoted to the Virslīga. We hope you enjoy the show! *Correction: AS Pirae qualified for the 2023/24 Coupe de France by winning the Coupe de Polynésie. Mathis Ragot Richard is dealing with the results of a bad crash a few weeks ago. He knocked himself out, broke some bones in his hand, his shoulder is dislocated with torn ligaments. The cool thing about his situation is that he's philosophical about what happened. The sad part about this crash other than the injuries is that the crash put a halt to a great season. So far he's only missed two finals for the European season, he's made all the French Cup finals, and made one podium. To say Mathis has been consistent is an understatement. The World Cup in Turkey was his main objective this year. He was trying to qualify for the worlds in Glasgow, Scotland. Who doesn't want to be world champion. So at the moment he's trying to figure out what comes next and when can he get back on the bike.

On May 5, 1992, on the French island of Corsica, local football club Bastia were hosting Marseille for a French Cup semi-final. But what should have been a day of celebration turned into a nightmare. Less than 10 minutes before the start of the match, the top of the temporary metal stand that had been installed to double the Furiani stadium's capacity collapsed. Hundreds of people fell dozens of metres to the ground in a tangle of metal: many crushed in the collapse, others in the mayhem that followed. In total, 19 people were killed and more than 2,300 injured. Three decades on, Annabel Lecouffe-Robaglia, Florie Castaingts and Thierry Derouet went to meet survivors and victims' families.

In this episode we talk about the Lille match on the road and how Christophe Galtier brought the whole team together after full week of media speculation and furore. We discuss the entire thing and also cover some matters regarding the financial fair play and how football media works. Masterclass in Lille One thing that is the most welcome change from last season and the reign of Pochettino, is that you look forward to watching PSG play. That it is a fun and entertaining event when the kick off happens. PSG didn't disappoint and in one week Galtier had brought the team together to play with a common purpose and philosophy. Kylian Mbappé scored the first goal from Messi assist when 8 seconds had been played. That is the new record in France and in the end, he got a hat trick for his troubles. Neymar got two goals also and some assists. Good match for everyone really. Transfers I am quite ready for the transfer window to close. At least then we will know who we have in our team and who we don't. Thilo Kehrer, Nathan Bitumazala and Eric Junior Dina Ebimpe have gone and no confirmation of any arrivals. Some rumours, but many of them look increasingly unlikely. PSG women's team PSG women have started their preseason matches in the AMOS Women's French Cup. Quite a positive display in the two first matches even if the results didn't go our way. The full analysis of this as part of this episode. Hopefully you enjoy the episode. The NFF also called up 8 home based players but surprisingly excluded the Bundesliga pair of Taiwo Awoniyi & Kevin Akpoguma although we anticipate a separate list to be released in the next fortnight for the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone on June 9th and Sao Tome on June 13th.
