What was your childhood like? Did you grow up in a nice environment? Were your parents rich or poor? What we experience growing up greatly impacts how we make decisions as an adult. But our past does not define our future. And today's guest is a perfect example. Six-year-old April probably had no idea that the grown-up April would run a company helping entrepreneurs do the impossible. She was too focused on gathering rocks, coloring them blue, and selling them as Magic Blue Rocks to earn money after realizing they were poor. Today, you get to meet this incredible woman and hear her story. She is an inspiration that you can break free from the chains of poverty and live the life you deserve. Discover how our mindset can either hold us back or help us succeed. This is a two-part episode, and I encourage you to listen to both episodes. “The more you help people, the more you're gonna succeed financially, personally, in your life, relationships, everything.”- April ShprintzIn This Episode:How April realized they were poor and what she did about itHow to teach your kids to have a positive money mindsetDeveloping the right mindset as you become an entrepreneurHow to break free from the cycle of povertyWhat is the Generosity Culture? How to charge what you're worth without the guiltResources:Why Are My Labs Normal? From first glance and the start to the podcast, you may not see the amazing alignment and similarities between Jonathan and April. We see them though! Jonathan and April are both very aligned with growing conscious businesses and supporting people in a very selfless manner. What they do helps people and companies grow; Whether it is Jonathan giving advice to other business leaders about how to grow a business and not being ruthless, or April going into the company to guide and coach them to growing their business through the principles of Generosity Culture. They are both supporting the growth of great conscious and caring leaders. It was great to hear about their backgrounds getting them to this point where they are now. Jonathan grew up and went into the Real Estate business thinking that he had to be ruthless to make money. April gained experience and knowledge from her time in the military that she is now able to put into place with the work that she does helping companies and leaders. When asked about the favorite part of her own company's culture, April said, “My favorite part of my company's culture is it's all about helping and empowering others. Everything we do is in service to others' success.” When Jonathan was asked about his company culture he told us, “Keyser was built off of 15 core operating principles. We are very clear about that during the hiring process, and because of that, I am confident that each of my team members buys into those beliefs. In fact, many of the current members have joined Keyser because they believed in the principles. This bleeds into how we interact with one another and how we serve our clients.” If you are looking for a podcast with a few passionate individuals that have a strong stance on improving company culture, being selfless, supporting others- then this is it. I had so much fun recording this episode!! April's energy is simply contagious. In this episode, she shares:How an exec from her Moms company came into her life at a pivotal time as a child, changing the trajectory altogether, and unknowingly planted seeds in her mind that would end up sprouting the idea for "The Generosity Culture"How mindset, perseverance, and tenacity played a role in her life and fostered her deep roots in sales, going all the way back to selling magic blue rocks as a young child to being a top performer for Avon as a tweenWhat “The Generosity Culture” is and how it begins with pouring into your peopleHow she flips the script on mistakes and missteps and uses it to constantly be learningHow the big ideas the scare the bejesus out of you are usually the absolute right path to followWhat her daily routine looks likeWhat the biggest leadership development pitfall she sees in working with many organizations around the worldThe advice she would give for those who have big ideas and are stuck in a place of fearIf you haven't read her book, go on Amazon right now and order it. You can thank me later. We had April Shprintz on The Porch to talk about her book Magic Blue Rocks and her work with The Generosity Culture. There were several takeaways: -Leaders who open up about the things they aren't good at help make others feel safe. If you've failed, tell your team. It will help them focus on growth and not perfectionism. -If you're afraid to get feedback, take a personal inventory. Ask yourself, is this an area I want to grow? If so, the pain of the feedback is worth it! -You don't have to want to grow in every area of your life all the time. We need to contextualize the concept of having a “growth mindset.” -Don't bypass difficult feelings. The secret to finding a solution is not turning off your emotions. It's flowing with them. When things don't go as expected, take 5 minutes to throw yourself a pity party and then you can find a solution. She was the impetus for it. Even if I didn't understand it at the time, when I was nine years old. My mother had to go to rehab. She was given the option from her head of Human Resources where she worked. She could go to rehab for her alcoholism, or she was going to lose her job because it was causing problems at work and the woman who delivered that message to the head of Human Resources came to our home. It was just this extremely generous act on her part because not only did she give my mom that second chance, which was great. My mom did go to rehab. That was a  wonderful thing for her, but she also took a significant interest in me as a young girl.”   Listen to the episode and let us know what is your biggest takeaway.   Connect with Host and Creator, Heneka Watkis-Porter   Email Instagram LinkedIn YouTube Twitter Facebook Website WhatsApp - 1876-849-2571   Support The Entrepreneurial You here fo US$5.00 monthly: https://glow.fm/tey.   Connect with April Shprintz: YouTube Twitter LinkedIn Instagram Facebook   Visit our Sponsor: Jamaica Stock Exchange   SHOP The Entrepreneurial Store: https://henekawatkisporter.com/store/   BOOKS by Heneka Watkis-Porter: https://henekawatkisporter.com/books/   LEARN Podcasting: https://henekawatkisporter.com/learn/   Book Heneka Watkis-Porter to SPEAK: https://henekawatkisporter.com/speaking/   LISTEN to other podcast episodes: https://henekawatkisporter.com/teypodcast/   READ our blog: https://henekawatkisporter.com/blog/   Looking for spiritual upliftment?
