What stands out about Coach Greg McMillan's philosophy is how it truly caters to the individual. And for someone who coaches thousands of runners, both elite and recreational, he clearly has a process that's working. What we think you'll love most about this episode is the idea of being flexible with your training. Not doing exactly what's written down on your training plan is probably the hardest thing for runners, but it's this small change - the ability to adapt your training based on how you feel each day - that can help you experience the biggest gains in performance."That's what the thinking training is about. I need to have strategies to deal with this lizard brain. MyDNA is potentially a very complicated business. It is after all, dealing with my (and yours) DNA! That;'s why founder Dr. Lior Rauchberger is working hard at simplifying a complicated business. Although officially a medical doctor, Dr. Lior Rauchberger is equally passionate about technology and innovation. In fact, if the truth be known, he's a bit of a gadgets freak! After practising medicine for 9-years, he jumped ship and started Urban Intelligence, a business installing high tech into homes and offices. With that humming along beautifully, he then sought out his next venture which turned out to be MyDNA … a business that enables you to use your DNA to make the right health choices around things like diet and medication. I was introduced to Lior by past guest Radek Sali from Swisse Multivitamins, so I knew he'd be good. Truth is, Lior was exceptional. His passion for business, technology and marketing is addictive, as we cover plenty of ground including: Why he left the relative safety of the medical profession His love of the entrepreneur's life How he chooses his business ventures How he markets MyDNA - a service that most don't know exists, and for those that do many think it's hokus pokus! And so much more   But the marketing gold doesn't stop there, in this episode you'll also discover: I'll show you how to create an insanely helpful email series And we go back into the vault, revisiting a chat I had with high performance expert Mark McKeon   Here's what caught my attention from chatting with MyDNA's Dr Lior Rauchberger: Simplicity - Lior is making the complicated simple. And not just simple to understand, but simple to buy. For example, on the Diet Report page of the My DNA website, it simple reads “Are you on the best diet for your body? Our DNA test can reveal how your body will respond to what you eat and drink, and how you exercise.” Order Now. $99. Marketing challenge - Lior and his team aren't kidding themselves about the marketing challenge that lies ahead, knowing they have quite some work to do to break through the cynicism and lack of understanding around the whole DNA thing. Distribution - Lior's clearly identified the three groups My DNA needs to get onside - Health professionals, consumers and pharmacists - and has three distinct marketing strategies for them. Sometimes I see business owners stuck trying to influence just one group of influencers, when the reality is, most business have a number of groups. If that's you, then maybe it's time to cast your net wider.   Links & Resources mentioned: MyDNA's website Dr. Lior Rauchberger on Twitter Interview with high performance coach Mark McKeon Mark McKeon's Go Zone book 3 steps to create an insanely helpful email series   Please support these businesses who make this show possible: Dale Beaumont's 52 Ways – An amazing free 1-day live event for business owners where you'll discover 52 ways to boost your business profits. Are you enduring your career, or are you enjoying your career? Our guest this week has kindly given us the toolkit to make sure we enjoy our careers. Mark McKeon has become a master of the art of mind control and high performance, thanks to 20+ years as a performance coach in the AFL and beyond. What sets Mark apart from many gurus is that he is qualified in the physiology of performance, as well as the mental side. He’s just as comfortable talking about adrenaline and cortisol as he is about positive thinking and prioritising. His book, “The Go Zone”, is a culmination of his years of work and study, so we talked to him about how his “Go Zone” framework can be used by people to achieve maximum performance. Here were some of the highlights: ** Be in control of events rather than letting events control you. ** Stress in itself is not a bad thing – in fact, we all need a certain level of stress to remain healthy – but not recovering from stress is extremely harmful. ** Know your diary three weeks in advance and compartmentalise everything from the most important tasks right down to time off. ** Consider using a buzzer or some kind of automatic mechanism to help you compartmentalise your days. ** Have no shame in letting people know that you are not to be disturbed when you’re in your most important time slot of the day (AKA, your “Go Zone”). You could wear a hat, lock the door, turn your phone off etc. etc. ** Mark’s optimum length for being 100% focused on your own tasks is 2 hours What’s in your mind has a clear physical impact which, in turn, affects the way you think and the way you perform. This is why getting a hold of each day is so important. The “Go Zone” is part of a framework to make sure you don’t sleepwalk into bad mental and physical habits. In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn: ** The value of business coaching ** How to buy yourself more time ** How to get over the guilt of not doing work ** What a “Go Zone” means ** How to handle the weekend ** The control of adrenaline ** How cortisol can create unhealthy habits   Resources mentioned in this episode: ** Mark’s email address: mark@mckeon.com.au ** Mark’s website: http://www.markmckeon.com/ ** Business Brain Food Facebook Group – What should we do for the 100th show? Post your ideas to the group! (www.facebook.com/groups/businessbrainfood) ** Free, no-obligation business coaching chat with a member of Ben’s team: (http://actioncoachanz.com/free-business-coaching-session) ** Ben’s Daily Business Tips podcast (http://www.dbtpodcast.com) ** Facebook (www.facebook.com/businessbrainfood) ** Twitter (https://twitter.com/bfewtrell) ** ActionCOACH (http://actioncoachanz.com/itunes) ** ActionCOACH (http://actioncoachanz.com/stitcher)   Remember that there is some concrete science behind the ups and downs of the working day - it can be physically measured in terms of adrenaline, blood sugar etc. – it’s not just the random factor of “having a bad day” or “having a good day”. The good news is; you can control it. Have a listen to Mark and he’ll show you how. The science behind it is complex, but the way to apply it is very simple indeed. Now get in that Go Zone! Also, if you are enjoying these Business Brain Food podcasts, then make sure to share them via social media sites or email the links to family and friends. A lot of time and effort goes into producing each of these podcasts with the goal in mind of the more people we can inspire about business the better. You can help us do just that!
