"Quit crying about it, or I'll give you something to cry about."  Many of us grew up hearing phrases like this, dismissing our emotions as if stress were just a fleeting feeling. But what if I told you stress is not just “in your head” but a full-body experience that impacts every system you rely on? Stress is our body's natural response to challenges, releasing cortisol to help us react and adapt. But unlike squirrels or deer, humans don't just "shake it off" after the danger passes. Our brains can perceive stress from thoughts alone—whether reliving a past trauma, dreading an upcoming meeting, or imagining a worst-case scenario. And our bodies respond as if the threat is real. Here's how chronic stress shows up in the female body: Hormones Out of Balance: Stress disrupts cortisol, leading to fatigue, poor sleep, and even weight gain. Brain Fog: Stress shifts brain function, sidelining logical decision-making in favor of survival instincts. Digestive Distress: Enzymes and motility change, impacting nutrient absorption and gut health. Immune Dysfunction: Women are disproportionately diagnosed with autoimmune diseases—a likely connection to chronic stress. Emotional Eating: Under stress, your brain craves sugars and salts for quick energy, driving unhealthy cravings. Our culture often pressures women to manage everyone else's stress while ignoring their own. Is it any wonder so many women experience burnout, chronic fatigue, or unexplainable health symptoms? The Good News: You can rewire your response to stress. It starts with recognizing the signals your body sends and intentionally calming your nervous system. Tools like adaptogenic herbs (ashwagandha, maca, rhodiola - try this blend!) mindfulness practices, and even short meditations can work wonders. Take it from one of my clients. She struggled with stress for over a decade, even after improving her diet and supplements. But when she committed to daily meditation, she lost over 5 pounds in just a few weeks—not because she ate less or exercised more, but because her body finally relaxed. Stress is not "just a feeling." It's a cascade of physical responses that, left unchecked, can derail your health. The key is to give your body permission to REST.  Need stress support? The English noun gospel comes from the Anglo-Saxon term godspell, meaning "glad tidings." It is translated from the Greek evangelion, which means "good message." Originally, the word was related to news of military triumph. –https://www.gotquestions.org/gospel-good-news.htmlWhile mainstream Christianity has a relatively narrow definition or view of the Good News, e.g., limited to the New Testament and only relating to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a broader, more scriptural perspective exists that is less taught, if taught at all.Didn't the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and others preach good news? What was their good news about? If the Good News is only about the death, burial, and resurrection of Messiah Yeshua, why did He teach and preach about it? #208 In this episode, I welcome back clinical neuropsychologist and founder of Biocognitive science, Dr. Mario Martinez. Mario is the author of the best-selling book "The MindBody Code'' and lectures worldwide on how cultural beliefs affect health and longevity more than genetics. His research demonstrates how thoughts and their biological expression co-emerge within a cultural history, even as current science continues to divide mind and body, and ignore the influence cultural contexts have on the process of health, illness, and aging. Mario has interviewed over 300 centenarians from around the world and who also live in 'Blue Zones'. People who are not only over 100 years old, but are mentally and physically healthy. Today we dive into what he learned from this and how our culture, people and environment affect our health and happiness long-term and what we can do to change it. Prepare to have your life changed. See you on the inside. About Mario: Dr Mario Martinez is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in how cultural beliefs affect the interaction of productivity, health and longevity. He is the founder of Biocognitive Science and the Empowerment Code. He developed an organizational model that views productivity and wellness as inseparable components of sustainable profits. The Empowerment Code is the first organizational training program that brings combined principles of cultural psychoneuroimmunology, cultural neuroscience and cultural anthropology to the workplace. Based on parameters that allow the immune system to make several hundred thousand decisions per minute, the Empowerment Code offers an organizational language that maximizes creativity, initiative and productivity, while diminishing conditions that contribute to chronic illnesses. Martinez holds a Masters degree in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University and a Doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Madrid. He also has post-doctoral training in psychopharmacology from Farleigh Dickinson University. Because of his work in how cultural beliefs affect the immune system, Martinez has investigated alleged cases of stigmata for the Catholic Church, the BBC, National Geographic and Discovery Channel. He lectures worldwide on his theory of Biocognition and teaches Empowerment Code principles to top US corporate executives and to global organizations in Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia Pacific. In this episode, Tricia and Rob talk about daily life as experienced within the concept of tribes, as explained in the writing of author Dave Logan in his book, Tribal Leadership. We tend to associate ourselves into tribes based on the decisions we make: the cars we choose to drive, the type of music we prefer, whether we prefer a Mac or a PC.  According to Logan, we even have “work” tribes, based on the kind of work that we do and the attitude we have while doing it. To launch this discussion, Rob shares his “take-aways” from Logan’s book, Tribal Leadership: Level 1: Life Sucks.  This tribe is often found in a gang or prison culture. Level 2: My Life Sucks. Some people are succeeding and happy, but I am not. Level 3: I Am Great and You’re Not.  You’re not as good as me. Level 4: We Are Great and They Are Not.  “We” have it figured it out. Everyone else is not great. Level 5: Life Is Great. Including those who see life differently than we do. Let’s all be great together. Most of us seem to live our daily lives moving between Levels 2, 3, and 4. When we do reach Level 5, it’s hard to stay there for long. The Good News? You really can reach Level 4 consistently and even Level 5. You can. The Bad News? You can’t skip a step. “You have to keep fueling fire, keep adding to it.  It’s hard to keep adding things that you hate, finding more and more in common with others who hate so that you can hate together. But if we build our relationships on the things that we both feel positively and passionate about, that is life-giving.  And life-giving things are self-perpetuating.” – Tricia “There is a point where you cannot feel any sadder. But there is no limit to joy.” – Rob “Rarely do we have ‘bad days.’ Often we have a bad 45 minutes!  And when you have a bad 45 minutes, give yourself 15 minutes to say, ‘Oh man, that was terrible.’ But then you have the capacity to turn it around and change it.” – Rob You can be in more than one tribe—not everything is binary! You can drink Pepsi and like Mac—both of those can be true!  Today’s discussion question: What tribe are you proud to be part of, because it is life-giving?   Resources mentioned in this episode: Logan, Dave. In our last episode, we talked about money. Today, we expand on this tantalizing topic with a powerful teacher of prosperity. Prosperity is a big word. It encompasses health, well-being, a sense of purpose - and it also includes money substance. Kate and Toni invite Candice Gee, a financial consultant with a business management focus and entertainment-based client roster, to facilitate a discussion about the principles of prosperity. We begin with the principles and then go deeper to talk about how to apply these principles in our daily lives. Self-inquiry and excavation are required to transform from a mindset of lack to one of abundance. Candice is a visionary and has advised and educated innumerable individuals on prosperity, inspirational living, and the ‘how to’ in realizing financial independence. This work can help you! And it may even CHANGE you. And if you change, everything in your world may do so also. This prosperity work invites souls to excavate murky areas within themselves that have created stagnation, particularly where money is concerned. She brings to light the emotional underpinnings and limiting beliefs that often undergird our behaviors with money. Ms. Gee is a graduate of the executive leadership program at the Anderson School of Business at UCLA and is an ordained Minister currently serving as Director of Membership at Agape International Spiritual Center. Rev. Candice teaches workshops on money and finance at spiritual centers and business venues throughout the United States. UNDERSTANDING THE IMPACT OF EMOTIONAL ABUSE AND NEGLECT ON YOUR LIFE IS IMPORTANT.If it happened to you, it can affect all areas of your life and relationships.THE GOOD NEWS: You can heal and we'll talk about this later in the episode with my guest.DR. JONICE WEBB, Author of the first book written on Childhood Emotional Neglect ( CEN )First, though, I invite you to answer this question:"Do you recognize what emotional abuse of children is? It's much more than you might think."Abuse is any behavior that is designed to control or dominate another person. Whether that is through fear, humiliation, intimidation, isolation, guilt, blaming, manipulation or denial. Therefore, emotional abuse is simply any abuse that is emotional rather than physical. It can include belittling, discounting, manipulating the emotions of another and constant criticism. It can be less obvious than that, such as continuous disapproval, or the refusal to ever be pleased by another in any way.It can be engaging children in age-inappropriate behavior, or engaging in age-inappropriate confidences. When a parent tries to engage a child to take his/her side against the other parent, this is emotional abuse.Emotional abuse of children is often more subtle than the systematic wearing away of their self-esteem and self-confidence. Emotional abuse cuts to the core of their being, creating scars, impressions and perceptions that are far deeper and longer-lasting than physical ones. An attempt to distort or undermine a child’s perception of the world is emotional abuse. In today's episode, I've given a very clear example of a situation that might not sound abusive on first hearing, but, once you've listened to this, you'll see things differently!GUEST: Dr. Jonice Webb, author of the first books ever on Childhood Emotional NeglectJonice Webb, PhD, is a licensed psychologist, speaker, blogger, and best-selling author. Dr. Webb wrote the first book ever written about Childhood Emotional Neglect, and is recognized worldwide as the pioneer of Childhood Emotional Neglect, CEN .Dr. Webb is dedicated to bringing awareness of the power of Childhood Emotional Neglect to people everywhere. She is the author of Running On Empty: Overcome Your Childhood Emotional Neglect, and Running On Empty No More: Transform Your Relationships. Were you ever shamed for having emotions in your early life? That's a prime example of a type of Childhood Emotional Neglect. You may never have thought about it in those terms, and today's episode will bring much more than this to light for you.HIGHLIGHTS OF TODAY'S EPISODE:Wondering why you may downplay your own needs and not ask for much?If you've experienced Childhood Emotional Neglect, how do you become more confident? Why you may still be tamping down your anger? What is the connection between Childhood Emotional Neglect, and troubles in relationships? How can a person who has experienced CEN begin to get in greater touch with their emotions? What are the likely impact of CEN in an adult's life?I hope this help you see that more clearly. Series: Life ChangeKey RelationshipsProverbs 13:201/13/19 Personal relationships are the most common factor to life change. God-influencing relationships are providential. God uses people to build faith. · Typically, God uses multiple people in your life to grow your faith. Life can be negatively influenced by others. · Some unhealthy relationships are unavoidable. · WARNING: The gravitational pull of culture and life is generally down, not up. Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”1 Corinthians 15:33 Biblical relationship counsel: · Marry a believer. Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 15 What agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?2 Corinthians 6:14-15· Choose your counselors/teachers carefully. The thoughts of the righteous are just, but guidance from the wicked leads to deceit.Proverbs 12:5 We need to utilize our healthy relationships for spiritual growth. How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers!Psalm 1:1 The Bad News: You can’t create God meetings. The Good News: You can put yourself in position to experience them. Today’s Takeaway: · Seek out someone to invest in. · Pray for God to send you a faith influence. · Intentionally seek out those who obviously are following Christ. · Put yourself in places where you will be exposed to the right people. · Surrender your life to the One who has changed others.

"Whether you go to college or not the years are going to go by with you going to college or not going to college. You just GET TO DECIDE what to do with the time." My words to my nephew You might have been thinking of doing something, but the thought of how long it might take has kept you back from starting. Let me ask you these two questions: How long have you had the thought? What if you had started when you first had it? Roman Catholicism versus the Reformation – Episode #15 In This Episode... 01:50 – Segment 1 The reformation was a Protest to Reform the Catholic Church Justification by Faith Protestant Definition – Legal transaction where we are made right in God’s Sight only because of our faith. Double Imputation – our sins were imputed to Jesus and His perfect righteousness was imputed to us. (Also called the Great Exchange) Another example is a chalkboard full of our sins being erased, but it also has to be filled with righteous deeds which we cannot do, so Jesus writes His deeds on it. Protestant belief is we cannot lose that righteousness. A brief definition is given. The term catholic (with a lower case c) means universal and is okay. Many solid biblical creeds and confessions use the term catholic faith to describe the whole body of the church. When we discuss catholic in this episode, we mean Roman Catholic. 07:45 – Segment 2 Roman Catholic Justification – Infused righteousness. Kind of like a B12 shot of righteousness which you can lose by committing a mortal sin. We believe this flys in the face of the sufficiency of the atonement. The prominent theme of the Reformation is a deep concern for the Gospel. Martin Luther said, in his 1535 commentary on Galatians that is the doctrine of justification is lost, the whole Christian doctrine is lost The immediate cause of the reformation was the selling of indulgences. John mentions that it still exists in the Catholic world. While that is technically true, as a matter of clarification, it is not now, nor has it ever technically been something that can be sold. Indulgences themselves are accepted by Catholic doctrine, but they are not to be sold. Only done through meritorious works. Indulgences are useful to shorten a persons time in purgatory, another Catholic doctrine in which Protestants don’t believe. The discussion of indulgences led into a discussion on the sacramental system. Roman Catholics believe partaking in the sacraments, of which there are seven, will impart grace to the believer. (Per the discussion earlier about losing your infused righteousness, the sacraments help to restore it.) There is a brief discussion on sacraments versus ordinances among Protestants. While all Protestants hold to two sacraments/ordinances – there is a question of what those items do. There is a discussion on the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick as necessary to help keep a believer in a state of grace. 18:31 – Segment 3 What is the extent of the church’s authority? Protestants believe the church has authority but only that which it has been given by Scripture. Roman Catholics believe the church has authority, the Scripture has authority, and tradition has authority. When the Pope speaks as the Pope, he is infallible and has ultimate authority. In contrast, we believe that Matthew 16 (and Matthew 18:18) gives the keys to Peter, but in the context of the congregation of the church, not resting in one man. The Council of Trent – The counter reformation – The Roman Catholic church had a discussion on the role of the church compared to Scripture. There was a latin phrase changed from partem partem to et. The nuance was fine, but substantial. John J. laments that in response to the holy view of the church in Roman Catholicism, people have swung too far the other way throwing away creeds and confessions that are extremely helpful to the church body. Item 3 we discussed Why is it important to discuss this? On Long Island, the beliefs of Roman Catholicism is a major roadblock to true faith. Where is the Good News? You have to continually do the sacraments to have a chance to go to heaven. The purgatory doctrine in Roman Catholicism also seems to create a sort of universalism. The Reformers believed the papacy to be an antichrist. It is also important to talk about this because, for the most part,
