He's considering expanding even though his dad says it's a bad idea. The big news in town though is that the book store is up for sale. We meet Elise. She kills plants. Her temp contract is expiring but her boss wants to bring her on permanently. But that's not her passion. She's an aspiring author. But she accepts the position anyway. She just needs a few weeks to finalize the sale of her grandma's book store. When she gets to the shore, she's shocked to find that the only worker is a teen named Molly and a neighborhood cat. She goes around town, drinking some cider, and ends up spilling all of it on Max. They clearly know each other. But she can't stick around long. She has to get ready for the Blooms and Books event her grandma threw every year. Except, she knows nothing about blooms. Max offers to help. But he wants her to help him write his story. She's reluctant to say yes because she's never written anything successful. But she ends up saying yes which leads to them hanging out, sparks begin to fly, they play on a tire swing. All normal adult stuff. As they get closer, he tells her that he wants to read her manuscript she had been working on. Bad news tho - the folks that want to buy the book store want to gut it and build condos. Elise is not thrilled and asks the real estate agent to ask them to reconsider. Elise is making cider with Max and he pitches her staying in town to run the store and write and be with him. He doesn't understand why she'd wanna leave. It's a whole thing. Bad news - a storm is coming. This could mess up everything. It wipes out all of Max's apple blossoms. This could mean no festival. No cider. No nothing. She encourages him to use his emergency apples that his dad set aside and he finally agrees to let him do what he wants with the business. She ends up deciding to stay and live her dream and they kiss. One year later, her book is published and they're a happy couple. And what better way to fix the community center by hanging out, getting to know each other, slow dancing surrounded by lanterns, and kisssssinggggg. But the community center...it's still in trouble! But when she finds out that the school has to cancel the dance due to a pipe burst, she comes up with an idea. Go to the city council and make an argument that everyone has a need for the community center, and if they keep it open until next Friday, they can hold it there. They have an open house and it's a big hit, and her new pottery gets picked up by a place in San Fran. It's all coming up aces. THE COMMUNITY CENTER IS SAVED! Top Stories for December 25th Publish Date: December 25th PRE-ROLL: SUGAR HILL ICE SKATING From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Thursday, December 25th and Happy birthday to Jimmy Buffett I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by KIA Mall of Georgia. Duluth named Georgia's most Hallmark movie-like city Solicitor's Office donates 5K proceeds to help domestic violence victims Salleigh Grubbs appointed to State Election Board Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on holiday foods All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: GCPS Hiring STORY 1: Duluth named Georgia's most Hallmark movie-like city If you’re dreaming of a Hallmark-style Christmas, Gwinnett County’s got you covered—no need to pack your bags. According to The Action Network, three Gwinnett cities made Georgia’s top five most Hallmark-like towns, with Duluth taking the crown as number one. Why Duluth? Think walkable streets, a buzzing town green, and a community that actually shows up—for festivals, concerts, and all the holiday feels. “It’s less about historic landmarks and more about people-driven traditions,” they said. Lawrenceville and Suwanee also made the list, proving Gwinnett’s got that small-town magic—minus the guaranteed snow or last-minute romantic plot twists. STORY 2: Solicitor's Office donates 5K proceeds to help domestic violence victims Three local groups that support domestic violence survivors got a little holiday cheer last week, courtesy of the Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office. Solicitor General LisaMarie Bristol handed out checks to Mosaic Georgia, the Partnership Against Domestic Violence, and Ahimsa House during a ceremony at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. The $12,080 came from the office’s third annual Dash 4 Domestic Violence 5K. “This is about more than money—it’s about action,” the office said. The event drew 170 runners, 65 volunteers, and 33 sponsors, raising over $12K to help survivors and their families across Gwinnett. STORY 3: Salleigh Grubbs appointed to State Election Board Former Cobb GOP Chair Salleigh Grubbs has been tapped for the State Election Board, the Georgia Republican Party announced Monday. Lt. Gov. Burt Jones made the appointment, filling the seat left vacant by Rick Jeffares. Grubbs called it a “recess appointment” and said she’s ready to get to work immediately. “Salleigh’s leadership and commitment to election integrity are unmatched,” said Georgia GOP Chair Josh McKoon. A Marietta native, Grubbs has been a vocal advocate for fair elections for years. “I’m honored and humbled,” she said. “This is about transparency, bipartisanship, and making Georgia’s elections better for everyone.” We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: Kia Mall of Georgia - DTL HOLIDAY STORY 4: Bittersweet: Candymakers navigate tariff, supply chain challenges during holiday season For Jocelyn Dubuke, owner of Jardi Chocolates, 2025 was a gamble. Faced with rising tariffs and supply chain chaos, she spent every dollar of last year’s revenue to stockpile chocolate. Why? To keep her customers from feeling the pinch. “Come January, I told my distributors, ‘Whatever chocolate you’ve got in the States, I want it,’” she said. “I wasn’t about to tell my customers halfway through the year, ‘Oh, by the way, your price just doubled.’” Chocolate’s tricky—rules you can bend, but not break. And with cacao only grown overseas, tariffs hit hard. STORY 5: Brookwood Tops Archer for First Deep South Classic Title in 10 Years Masai Knight spent most of the game dishing out assists—nine of them, to be exact—but his biggest play came when it mattered most. With Brookwood clinging to a four-point lead in the final minute of the Deep South Classic championship, Knight threaded a perfect pass to Grant Dehnke, who scored inside to stretch the lead to six. A defensive stop, a couple of free throws, and that was it—Brookwood sealed a 61-52 win, their first tournament title in a decade. FALCONS: Bijan Robinson was electric, C.J. Henderson clutch, and the Falcons? They held on—barely. Atlanta edged Arizona 26-19 on Sunday, thanks to Henderson’s diving interception with 90 seconds left, slamming the door on the Cardinals’ final drive. Robinson? Unreal. 171 total yards, a touchdown grab, and a spot in Falcons history—just the third player to hit 2,000 scrimmage yards in a season. Not bad company: Jamal Anderson, William Andrews. Arizona? Another heartbreak. Seven straight losses, 12 of their last 13. Brissett’s 203 yards weren’t enough, and a wild Michael Wilson TD catch wasn’t either. Atlanta’s still alive. Barely. Break 3: And now here is Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on holiday foods Break 4: We’ll have closing comments after this Break 5: Ingles Markets 3 Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. This week, 7 Minute Stories transforms into a courtroom drama—well, sort of. In this courtroom-style story, Aaron Calafato takes on the role of defense attorney, arguing not against cynicism but for hope. As the prosecution condemns Hallmark movies as “brain rot,” Aaron makes a case for why these small-town stories, full of clichés and Christmas lights, might be exactly what our overstimulated culture needs. A clever, heartfelt reflection on repetition, ritual, and why the simplest stories can still teach us the most about being human.

After they leave, the bride continues her story. Before she tells us about her own wedding, she has to share about another one.Danny is talking to his business manager, Zach. Danny's like, “Zach, you're coming with me to my sister's wedding.” When he tells his buddies that Zach is tagging along, they're like, “Shouldn't you already be dating someone?” Danny insists, “No way—we're just friends. We're too different.”At the wedding, Danny and Zach dance and talk—Zach about a new guy he's seeing, Danny about what went wrong with his ex.A month later, Danny meets Nolan, who flatters him by calling him the greatest pitcher the Phillies ever had. Turns out, Zach and Nolan end up together—but Zach doesn't tell Danny. At Pete's wedding, Danny tries to bring it up, but Zach shuts it down. They just dance instead. While dancing, Zach admits that he had proposed to Nolan, but Nolan turned him down, and they broke up.Later, the guys convince Danny to shoot his shot with Zach. He finally decides to—only for Zach to reveal that Nolan is actually back, and this time they're getting married. Danny's even asked to be best man and help plan the wedding. The wedding is set for Greece (because why not). Right before the trip, Nolan says he can't leave yet but will arrive the day before the ceremony. So Danny goes with Zach to help with the planning. They tour Greece, throwing parties (well, planning a wedding). One day, Zach surprises Danny with a batting cage on the beach. Danny teaches him how to swing—it's sensual, sparks fly.The next day, when Danny tries to talk about it, Zach brushes it off. The boys encourage Danny to be honest, so he finally confesses his feelings. Zach rejects him: “Hard pass, man.”On the wedding day, Danny is nowhere to be found. The guys discover him staring out at the water. Zach shows up, confesses he's in love with Danny too, and they kiss before jumping into the water together. One year later—they're the ones getting married! And the bride says she still has one more story to tell. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? It's Festive Friday and Alonso is here to help review another Christmas movie we missed from 2024, Festival of Trees. ABOUT FESTIVAL OF TREES:Jacquie's future as a designer could rest on winning the annual "Festival of Trees" competition, but coming up with the perfect design means she needs to remember what Christmas is really all about.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR FESTIVAL OF TREES:November 24, 2024 | UpTVCAST & CREW OF FESTIVAL OF TREES:Kate Miner as Jacquie MillerGreg Perrow as Brandon HollidayJosie Davis as Alice StewartSarah Hayter as HeatherBRAN'S FESTIVAL OF TREES SYNOPSIS:The movie kicks off with a local morning show doing a story about the Festival of Trees. They bring on designer Alice Stewart, who has won the festival for the past few years. Jacquie is at home watching it, rolling her eyes.Jacquie wants to compete in the Festival of Trees this year. First, she needs a sponsor, so she goes to pitch Lowery & Lowe. He says he needs to run it by his other teammates and asks to keep her portfolio—which happens to be the only one she has.At the opening ceremony for the Festival of Trees, it becomes clear that Alice and Jacquie know each other—and they definitely don't like each other. While she hasn't officially been accepted into the competition, Jacquie gets to work. She bumps into Alice's assistant, who shames her at every turn, then informs her that Lowery & Lowe is sponsoring Alice this year. That means they won't be going with Jacquie. While processing that news, a guy comes up and asks her for advice. She's not in the mood and just hands him her entire basket. She's feeling really down, and it only gets worse—she gets a call from the committee with bad news. They cannot accept her design due to plagiarism. Jacquie is shocked—she worked so hard on it. Apparently, someone else submitted the exact same design before she did. She has until noon tomorrow to submit a new design. So Jacquie and her assistant Heather go searching for inspiration and end up at a Christmas tree farm, where they bump into the guy from the shop. His name is Brandon, and he owns the place. He encourages her to make a tree that speaks to the everyman, not just the uppity elite. To spark ideas, Jacquie visits the children's hospital that the Festival of Trees benefits. There, she meets a little girl named Rachel. Rachel shares what she loves about Christmas, which inspires Jacquie to create a tree completely inspired by the children. Each kid will get their own ornament based on their likes and interests. Jacquie and Heather head down to the hospital to interview the kids.Later, Jacquie goes to pick out her own tree to get into the Christmas spirit. Brandon delivers it, and they spend some time together—the sparks are flying—until he takes a call and says, “I'll be there in 15 minutes, honey.” Assuming he's already in a relationship, she decides to call it a night. The next day, when Jacquie goes to show Rachel her ornament, she's surprised when Brandon walks in. Turns out, Brandon is Rachel's dad—and “honey” was who he was talking to the night before!Festival time arrives, and Jacquie's tree is a masterpiece. She notices Alice has stolen her old design, but she doesn't care—she likes hers more.Brandon and Jacquie admire the tree together when she realizes it will be auctioned off, meaning the kids won't get their ornaments. Heather tells her to let it go—they've already done something amazing. To her surprise, Jacquie ends up winning! She and Brandon celebrate with a kiss. Her business takes off. They head to the hospital to give the kids the drawings of their ornaments, only to be shocked when they see the actual tree there. And the good news keeps coming—Rachel has been given the all-clear!The movie ends with snow falling and another kiss.
