主播：Jerry | 翩翩歌曲 : My New Swag建议打开方式：戴好耳机，选一个舒服的抖腿姿势这一期Podcast，我们要带大家，解锁另一个美国流行文化——hip-hop。Hip-hop已经不仅是美国流行文化了，而是在全球都很trending的一个文化，尤其是在年轻一代中。准备节目的时候，Jerry推荐了很多歌曲，英文的、中文的都有，都非常好听。今天，我们边聊天边听歌，带大家打开一个新世界。1.What is hip-hop? 说到Hip-hop, 首先要说大家都很熟悉的rap。Rap是什么呢？音乐最基本的要素包含melody（旋律曲调）和rhythm（节奏），如果是歌曲的话，还要有lyrics（歌词）。Rap有：a quick rhythm（快节奏），也有lyrics（歌词），但是没有melody（旋律）。就是说唱。很多人都认为，hip-hop等同于rap，但其实并不然。Hip-hop是一种群体文化（collective culture），主要包含5种元素：● Rap 说唱；饶舌● hip-hop fashion 嘻哈时尚● DJ 打碟● Graffiti涂鸦● B-boying街舞Hip-hop is a big part of current American culture. Hip-hop在现代美国文化中起很大的作用，不容小觑。*melody /ˈmelədi/ n.旋律*rhythm /ˈrɪðəm/ n.节奏*lyric /ˈlɪrɪk/ n. 歌词*collective /kəˈlektɪv/ adj. 集体的，共有的*current /ˈkɜːrənt/ adj. 流行的2.Hip-hop发展史It attained great popularity since the 1980s and 1990s. 八九十年代火起来的。现如今，hip-hop对于pop music（流行音乐）影响巨大，很多歌曲里，都contain rap（包含说唱）。According to Nielson Music report（据尼尔森音乐报告）, hip-hop is currently the biggest music genre in the US, accounting for 25.1% of all music consumption! Hip-hop当下在美国是最大的音乐流派，占所有音乐消费量的25.1%。由此可见，hip-hop在美国的巨大影响力。*attain /əˈteɪn/ v. 获得；达到*contain /kənˈteɪn/ v.包含*genre/ˈʒɑːnrə/ n. （文学、艺术、电影或音乐的）体裁，类型*account /əˈkaʊnt/ v. 占（一定数量或比例）*consumption /kənˈsʌmpʃn/ n. 消费Hip-hop began in the Bronx, which is an economically poor area in New York City. Hip-hop最早开始于纽约最穷的一个区——Bronx，这里美国黑人比较多。后来慢慢就发展起来，80年代的时候，它发展到developed a regional rivalry between the East coast and the west coast（引发了美国东西海岸的区域竞争）。这场竞争还involves the murder of very prominent two rap artists（涉及两位非常著名的说唱歌手的谋杀案）。两边各牺牲了一名rap artist，一个叫Tupac（2Pac）,另一个叫Notorious B. I. G.*economically /ˌekəˈnɑ:mɪkli/ adv. 经济上地*regional /ˈriːdʒənl/ adj. 区域的*rivalry /ˈraɪvlri/ n. 竞争，对立*murder /ˈmɜːrdər/ n. 谋杀*prominent /ˈprɑːmɪnənt/ adj. 重要的*rap artist说唱艺术家这个时期的hip-hop叫做old school hip-hop（旧学派嘻哈）。Jerry给大家推荐了两首这个时期的歌：“Who Shot Ya”by Notorious B.I.G. “Hit Em Up”by Tupac我们一起来听听Tupac这首Hit Em Up（音频5分10秒）。Tupac is still referred to as very respected looked up to by many black Americans as a hero. Tupac依然被美国黑人当英雄一样崇拜。对于很多人来说，hip-hop is more than just music（不仅仅是音乐）。对于很多African-Americans（美国黑人）而言，他们常年面对systemic racism（系统性的种族歧视），hip-hop就成了他们的a path to success（通往成功的道路）。*respected /rɪˈspektɪd/ adj. 受尊敬的*look up to尊敬*more than不只是*systemic /sɪˈstemɪk/ adj. 系统的*racism /ˈreɪsɪzəm/ n. 种族歧视不同于a classical love song or a break-up song（经典的爱情、分手歌曲），hip-hop在最初，是在唱how rich they are（自己多有钱），how expensive their clothes or cars are（自己的衣服、车子多贵），how pretty their girlfriends are（自己的女朋友多漂亮）。还有一些歌词在表达real life，写的是the dangers and difficulties that they have faced（他们面对的危险），比如朋友或者自己got shot（被枪击）。从小目睹枪杀、毒品、街头暴力，让黑人说唱歌手更能体会混乱世界中，生离死别的反复无常。3.不得不提的说唱歌手-Kendrick LamarJerry最喜欢的rap artists之一就是Kendrick Lamar。国外的媒体将他奉为“现世说唱第一人”（the best rapper alive），他也是众多中国Rapper的偶像。他的第三张album（专辑）是To Pimp a Butterfly。This album discusses a deep topic related to racial injustice. 讨论了一个与种族不公正有关的深刻话题。*alive adj. 活着的*album /ˈælbəm/ n. 专辑*injustice /ɪnˈdʒʌstɪs/ n. 不公正Jerry给大家推荐了两首专辑中的歌：Wesley's TheoryKing Kunta我们来听一下King Kunta（音频8分30秒）。这张专辑在美国几乎被封神了，讲的是：很多美国黑人被capitalism in America（美国资本主义）所提供的riches and wealth（财富）给enticed or captured（诱惑）。夸大财富的hip-hop culture，造就了“嘻哈是唯一成功之路”的形象。但这样的纸醉金迷并不是真正的success。Kendrick Lamar was trying to communicate that there are other paths to success. INTERVIEW BEGINS at 9:18 Hip Hop is exploding in China and in the past year, many American Hip Hop artists have been coming over to the Middle Kingdom to tour and connect with a whole realm of fans they probably never knew they had. Acts like Rae Sremmurd, A$AP Rocky and even Lil Yachty have touched down to the streets of Chengdu, Shanghai and Beijing. In episode 3, Shannon speaks with producer, Kino Beats who has been coming to China a lot now. The producer has a resume that‘s stacked, making songs for some heavy hitters in the industry like A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, 2 Chainz and even the late great Nipsey Hussle. Even with his star studded catalogue, Kino is so humble and really such a sweet guy. He’s been touring throughout China for the last year with his partners Lex Luger and OG MACO DJing and performing his material. Kino came to CREAM in the summer of 2018 and blessed us with a killer Trap set. He’s also been shaking up dance floors around China like Nox in Chengdu and Arkham in Shanghai. Passée une première frayeur vint le soulagement : non, ce film n’est pas un spin-off asiatique de « Qu’est ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu ? ». Porté par le tandem François et Bruno, incarnés respectivement par Frédéric Chau et Média Sadoun, « Made in China » parle bien avec tendresse et justesse de la diaspora chinoise, notamment à Paris, notamment dans le 13e arrondissement qui est particulièrement bien mis en valeur. Mais malgré de belles intentions, le film ne décolle jamais et souffre d’un manque d’écriture. Pauvre d’un point de vue cinématographique, mais intéressant du point de vue didactique et efficace dans sa déconstruction des clichés et fantasmes, «Made in China » a le mérite d’exister. Late last year we went to Shanghai, China to experience Innersect, a two-day celebration of all things sneaker, streetwear, and fashion founded by Edison Chen of CLOT. While there, we co-hosted a panel with Bodega and Reebok, who revealed several Innersect-exclusive collaborations. It was there we met Wes Chen, a hip-hop head and host of  “Xi Ha Gong Yuan”—aka The Park—arguably China’s most mainstream hip-hop show where he interviews artists, plays tracks, and talks about the latest happenings in the scene. Chen was instrumental to the rise of artists like the Chengu-based Higher Brothers, and is also the host of a documentary series documenting the rise of China’s trap scene. We stopped by his Shanghai studio to get a brief look at how hip-hop spread in China, the difficulties American artists may face while touring the country, and in contrast—the difficulties faced by Asian artists when it comes to breaking into the American music industry.
