Der erste Song auf "Hounds Of Love" ist "Running Up That Hill". Im Jahr 2022 erlebte "Running Up That Hill" ein überraschendes Comeback. RATE BUSH! What are your most favorite and least-loved songs on Kate Bush's Hounds of Love? Three months before strange things catapulted Miss Bush into a new generation's consciousness, Sam had us sit down to dissect an album that most purists wouldn't dare break into separate parts. While Adam went overboard (groan) researching the second side's epic Ninth Wave song story, newbies Dan and Jim obliviously took it in like men with children in their eyes...or something. Guest rankers include keyboard guru and Abbey Road expert Brian Kehew (Moog Cookbook, The Who, Prince and more) and San Diego Music Award winner Marie Haddad from the world's greatest coverband, Baby Bushka. Hear it at WeWillRankYouPod.com, Apple, Spotify and your running shoe outlet. ***This episode was recorded in February of 2022, a few months before Stranger Things made Kate Bush a hero to a whole new generation and eight months before we finally edited and released it. Three years later, we received notice that we had to remove music from a dozen episodes of ours. Because we're a music podcast, we're allowed to play clips under music criticism laws so they let us keep the episodes intact. We recently noticed that this episode had disappeared though. Can't get a straight answer about why this one wasn't spared so we're re-uploading it without Kate's music. If you want to hear it in all of its original unedited glory, drop us a note on social media and we'll send it to you. We're not making a dime on this, unless you Venmo us (ahem) at WeWillRankYouPod. In fact, we buy every single song you hear on the show. We love you, Kate. It's still a fun listen without the tunes. In 2016, Ben Young's disturbing Hounds of Love took the Venice International Film Festival by storm. This disturbing story of torture and extreme codependency won over critics while star Ashleigh Cummings secured the Fedeora Award for Best Actress. But while commending the film's harrowing appeal, audiences noticed a striking similarity to the real crimes of David and Katherine Birnie. Young has distanced himself from the true crime label, but does this film feel like an adaptation of a single story or pulled from a variety of horrific crimes? Wanna connect with the show? In 2022, Kate Bush's song Running Up That Hill topped charts around the world … nearly 40 years after its initial release. The resurgence came after the song was featured on the Netflix series Stranger Things — but according to the musician and writer Leah Kardos, the entire album is a masterpiece. Leah's new book, Hounds of Love, is a deep dive into Kate's 1985 album of the same name. It tells the remarkable story of how the album came to be, explores Kate's enduring appeal and paints a portrait of Kate as a visionary musician and storyteller. Hounds Of Love invites you to not only listen, but to cross the boundaries of sensory experience into realms of imagination and possibility. Side A spawned four Top 40 hit singles in the UK, 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)', 'Cloudbusting', 'Hounds of Love' and 'The Big Sky', some of the best-loved and most enduring compositions in Bush's catalogue. On side B, a hallucinatory seven-part song cycle called The Ninth Wave broke away from the pop conventions of the era by using strange and vivid production techniques that plunge the listener into the psychological centre of a near-death experience. Poised and accessible, yet still experimental and complex, with Hounds Of Love Bush mastered the art of her studio-based songcraft, finally achieving full control of her creative process. When it came out in 1985, she was only 27 years old. Kate Bush's Hounds of Love (Bloomsbury, 2024) charts the emergence of Kate Bush in the early-to-mid-1980s as a courageous experimentalist, a singularly expressive recording artist and a visionary music producer. Track-by-track commentaries focus on the experience of the album from the listener's point of view, drawing attention to the art and craft of Bush's songwriting, production and sound design. It considers the vast impact and influence that Hounds Of Love has had on music cultures and creative practices through the years, underlining the artist's importance as a barrier-smashing, template-defying, business-smart, record-breaking, never-compromising role model for artists everywhere. Leah Kardos is a senior lecturer in music at Kingston University London, UK. She is the author of Blackstar Theory: The Last Works of David Bowie (Bloomsbury, 2022), which was included as one of The Wire's 'Best Books of 2022'. Leah on Twitter. In this new episode of the Kate Bush Fan Podcast, Seán talks to Leah Kardos, author of the new book about Hounds of Love which is part of the acclaimed 33⅓ book series which examine key albums from music history. Leah is a musician, a senior lecturer in music at Kingston University in London, co-founder of that university's Visconti Studio (with producer Tony Visconti) and is also author of Blackstar Theory: The Last Works of David Bowie. A very enjoyable chat in which she discusses what made her pitch Kate's fifth studio album to the book publishers, her experience of writing the book as we emerged from a pandemic, the challenges of producing a smaller sized book like this and why it was important to her to emphasise Kate's pioneering production work and barrier-breaking career achievements. I highly recommend this excellent little book as the perfect Christmas stocking filler for the Kate Bush fan in your life!

Warum das so ist, und natürlich nochmal alles Wissenswerte zum "Stranger things"-gepushten jetzt 1 Milliarde-Streams-Song "Running up that hill" gibts in dieser Folge.

Louise Post of Veruca Salt pays YMAAA a visit to talk about Kate Bush's 1985 album, Hounds of Love. Louise explains why Hounds of Love is one of her favorite albums, how Kate Bush was something of an acquired taste for her and which tracks on the album are the most special to her. The conversation also frequently turns to The Beatles and Post Malone, and Louise talks about how she wound up teaching music in the L.A. public schools. She also discusses the writing and recording process for her upcoming solo album, Sleepwalker, and the band she has assembled for her tour.Al referenced an interview that Louise and Nina Gordon did for the Women in Rock Oral History Project. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju8QAzTGC-8.Al's memory of Kate Bush's appearance on Saturday Night Live was inaccurate, even though he said he was “99 percent sure” he remembered it correctly. She performed “The Man With the Child In His Eyes” and “Them Heavy People,” and not “Wuthering Heights” and “Babooshka,” as he had remembered. Also, the broadcast was in 1978, and not in 1979 or 1980.Follow Louise on social media! In our first album episode of season three, we dive into Kate Bush's masterpiece, Hounds of Love, with our friend and four-time guest, Brad Efford.
RATE BUSH! What are your most favorite and least-loved songs on Kate Bush's Hounds of Love? Three months before some very strange things catapulted Miss Bush into a new generation's consciousness, Sam had us sit down to dissect an album that most purists wouldn't dare break into separate parts. Follow us and weigh in with your favorites on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @wewillrankyoupod .
